'Noticing' is where Ruby is spot on. I look at depression like this - you keep your hnd around its throat and at arm's length, but always be mindful that you have to hold it by the throat. And alcohol is not your friend. We can block negative thoughts, we can train our minds. We can choose how we want to feel about things. Get your head around that and you can beat depression.

Thank you Ruby for your insight and wisdom. I'm learning so much from you that I'm beginning to see myself in a different light and becoming more accepting of all the many parts of myself x

Interesting - it is very much like meditation I agree. Always inspired by Ruby - so open and honest about her experience of depression and her desire to make changes not just for her but for all sufferers.

When we stop talking about mental illness in hushed whispers or pretending it happens to "other people" we can move forward with effective means of treatment. When we stop trying to separate people into parts and take them as a whole of mind, body and spirit, we can move forward. Thank you for this information; it has great value in my world.

To me he technique she uses sounds very closely related to meditation, kind of a micro meditation. Very interesting video would love to see the whole talk.

No, its just people pretending to know, but really not knowing. If the time was taken to actually know, that will be the key

If your not depressed or disturbed by the assimilated ubiquitous environment we live in, I would be suspicious. Breath breath breath. Observe don't absorb. Love & healing one in all.

RUMINATION-These voices, sometimes they're useful, you problem solve. But we're creatures of habit. When you feel the thoughts are not productive and we go into Rumination. There are some questions you can't answer, like why does nobody call me, why did my boyfriend leave me? That's rumination. You'll never come up with an answer. When you notice your thoughts are not working for you, send your attention to something physical- a sense in the body. You can not use the insula and amygdala at the same time [ 10:30 ]

My father had Clinical Depression (undiagnosed because they didn't diagnose it in the thirties, and I inherited a small amount (They call it Dysthymia) and it was painful and debilitating. How bad does a full-blown case feel?

Don't clump it with meditation, it can have a more specific category as she honed it down further more.

Mindfulness is a specific form of meditation, so of course people would "clump" it with that.

    Sounds like...meditation.
Or biblically speaking - dying to one's self daily.
Good stuff. How little attention we, as a society, generally give to our mind health and balance.

Both science and religion are corrupted and controlled.

I guess it depends what angle you come at it from.
If science is being bought and paid for and particular agendas pushed - then it could be considered a bad thing - but if this deception is a catalyst to people realising they are being deceived and waking up, then it's a good thing.
And the same goes for religion. People are controlled by religious beliefs (bad) until they are mature enough to be their own guide (good)

    • @Teakai8
      @Teakai8 10 лет назад

***** I think it's the same story and the ratio leans a lot more to the bad - biblically speaking satan is the God of this world - scientifically speaking - the human ego is in charge.
If society is fundamentally corrupted, but we can think of some good stuff within that corrupted society - it is still a corrupted society.
Meditation has the advantage of turning that around and expanding consciousness t outside of the parameters of the ego identity. (Carnal mind - biblically speaking)

The church said Jesus was the answer. Jesus said - these things I do you can do and even greater things for I am going to the Father. (Father =spiritual aspect of the human Mother/Mater = material/physical aspect of the human.)
Going to the Father means meditating. Tithing the 10% of the carnal mind to God.
Christ is the answer. Christ means anointed. It's the anointing of the brain by colostrum.
Jesus said, if you love me you will do as I say and basically he said to meditate.
      The allegory is-
Jesus was crucified (the physical put to death -the 5 wounds representing the 5 senses - in order to die and rise as Christ,.
Jesus said you must die to yourself.
Paul said he dies to himself daily.
Be still (meditate) and know that I am God.
Meditation - and the unification of the human brain is the answer.

***** That made me laugh. :)
Jesus spoke only in parables to the masses so they may be hearing but never understanding.
Paul warns be not a minister of the letter for the letter kills - meaning to understand the bible literally will not get anyone enlightened.
There's a giant pinecone in the Vatican courtyard. It represents the pineal gland of the brain. Job saw the face of God and he called the place peniel and his life was saved.
Jesus said "The kingdom of heaven is within you". "Seek ye first the kingdom" and meditation is the way to find it.
      It's a trip :)
No, I'm not a Christian - but I understand the esoteric meaning behind all the practises.
Jesus said - where there is neither Greek nor Jew nor slave nor free, nor male nor female there I am for we are all one in Christ Jesus - meaning that the carnal mind makes us identify with religions or sex or colour and lables - but beyond those layers we are all souls having a human experience and evolving.
Thank you for the conversation, too :)
(Did you mean to say conversion?)
