I think I finally identified my indoor tree that used get get berries and now has flowers as a Bougainville!! It has begun to flower all over. We’ve had it for almost a decade it was purchased unlabeled.
Light pink blooms starting. I’m moving it outdoors now that I know what she is finally!!
She’s always been prized and glorious but what?!?! I have a one of these incredible trees growing in Ohio?? 😂 it survived us not even knowing who she was!! Now she is going to flourish.
We no doubt lived and learned and listened to her to have her survive us this long.
Can’t wait to give her the proper care now!!!

Your place and plants are beautiful! I got mine in a large pot going on 3 years now. I added some mulch and in spring I feed it some miracle grow. It’s blooming again but I got a little bee, or something eating the pretty blooms 😤 gonna find the video you mentioned about that. I’m in Vegas so we have pretty similar sizzling heat. Thanks and many blessings ❤️

Nell, thanks for this wonderful video. When planting bougainvillea in pots, do you make cuts in the grow-pot and plant that directly into the new, larger pot? Or is that method only for when you plant bougainvillea in the ground?

I’ve just subscribed to your channel, Nell! Thank you for your tips! I’ve lives in Italy and Southern Cal, now in Vacaville CA where it gets hoooot! 🥵 I’m hoping the 9 5-gallon plants all do well. I’m sure they’ll be fine as long as I follow your instructions. My only question is I would like to plant some in front of my house; it faces West so it doesn’t get a lot of sun until after noon. My house is kinda tall and narrow which I’m afraid, will block sun from reaching it and it may not get as much sun as required to maximize bloom. Although I’d like to plant some in front but should I just concentrate on the backyard?

My plant was full of leaves over the winter ( inside ) I moved outside for summer. Leaves are yellowing from tips and then browning. I thought overwatered from rains? It does have new growth on tips and is starting to flower

Can you do a video on making a Bougainvillea, into a standard tree ? And does Bougainvillea prefer acid or Alkaline soil ?

Nell, hi, I'm a subscriber from Lake Charles, LA. You're now living in Tuscon, AZ, right. I'll bet it's a lot drier there than Santa Barbara!
I wanted to comment not on the bougainvillea, but that gorgeous "organ pipe" cactus at the beginning of the video. What a magnificent beauty! I'm sure under your watchful eye, it will thrive. Thanks for the video. A nice bougainvillea will be my next plant among the many I already have.
You should aquire a "traveler's palm". They're magnificent and gorgeous. You'd probably have to grow it under shade cloth in Tuscon, however. The hot sun might scorch it.
Do a RUclips search for it to see what I'm talking about. That's all for now. Happy gardening! 🪴🌵

Please help. My bracts look a bit transparent right after they open and then the tips turn brown. Have you had this problem? She is in a plastic well draining pot. She is not root bound. She blooms profusely so watering is good. I only fertilize about every 2 months as recommended on my special Bougainvillea food.

I live in central Pennsylvania. I acquired my first potted bougainvillea this spring. It had a great summer with lots of full hot sun with daily watering. Our winters get very cold for several months. I am hoping to be able to winter it for next year. What are the chances it will survive if it is kept in an enclosed breezeway, protected from the elements, with infrequent watering.?

If I planted a bougainvillea in Michigan (Southeast metro Detroit area), would it come back in the spring or would the cold and winter completely kill it?
    Thanks!

    • @Thedesertcouple
      @Thedesertcouple 4 года назад +2

My guess would be that it would not last winters outside. You’d probably want to bring it inside when it drops colder than 32.
