So I've gone through all the steps plugging it into my Mac setting the video/scene/ source but once I get to the properties it just wants to use my camera there is no option for my iPad what do I do?

Unfortunately thanks to Apple, this only works with iPads/iPhones to Mac. You can't use Linux or Windows.

I tried using an iPad Pro 13 M4 and a Mac Studio M1 Max with a Thunderbolt 4 cable. However, the actual resolution of the recorded iPad screen was not satisfactory. When I record directly on the iPad using its screen recording feature, the resolution is 1920x1440. But when I screen record with QuickTime Player on the Mac, the resolution drops to 1600x1200. Even though I set OBS Studio to record in 4K, the actual recorded resolution seems to be around 1600x1200. Is there a better way to record the iPad screen at a higher resolution (at least 1920x1080)? The reason I’m trying to find a solution is that when I use a Scarlett 2i2 with a Rode mic, the iPad fails to save the screen recording, showing an error message about the asset writer.

for some reason my obs can't see the ipad. Although I confirmed on both Mac and iPad that the device can be trusted. I'm using the latest version of obs. I'm using the supplied cable from the iPad. what could be the problem ? all software latest versions

@@SomeoneWhoForgot my current setup is changing the settings within the 4K Utility for my HD60S+ and capturing my iPad with that to OBS - but it still isn’t without its occasionally stuttering or freezing and there’s no way to know when it is going to freeze, just genuinely random. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Guys, actually it works on windows, but you have to do other workaround. 1) you just have to use an different app to mirror your ipad on windows. AirPlay Screen Mirroring for exemple. 2) Another way is to get an whiteboard app that works on ipad and brwoser, and you screen your tab while write at the same board with your ipad (like grupo writing). i have done everything up to selecting ipad as a video capture device. there is no option at this point for ipad. how do you make ipad show up as an option. i said "trust this device" when i plugged my ipad in

I am using the camera on iPad to stream to OBS. However, the screen is mirroring the settings display on the right side. Is there a fix for this so that the settings display doesn't show up on the stream?

To those asking about iPad not showing up in devices. I had the same issue . Turns out I hadn’t selected trust iPad over on my laptop. So go to finder scroll down to locations in the side bar select your device and then it will ask to trust the device. And that so

I'm stuck at the part where you were discussing the Video Capture Device. The issue is that my iPad Pro can't be detected in the Device tab in Properties for 'Video Capture Device'. This concerns me because I'm planning on starting a second brand-new RUclips channel, and I can't progress until this is resolved. What should I do? Thank you.

It's not working for me on Windows 10, OBS 29. Followed the instructions, but the iPad does not appear as a video capture device.

Thanks it took me for real 5minutes but my OBS screen that shoots Ipad laggs so hard idk why even my OBS mac screen isn't lagging (its not the wires I checked with another pair) Idk that to do, changed resolution, fps buffering all that stuff but it still lagging

How can you get 4K on an iPad if the newest iPad Pro screen recording of it's own is at 1920 x 1440?
it's called upsizing. The quality won't be in 4K, but you force it to record in a higher scale. Generally, this is bad because you lose alot of pixels making the quality worse, but if your webcam is 4K, then it's worth doing.

Like, This tutorial is for mac but im sure there are windows solutions out there too!, Because of Screen Mirroring, the iPad mirrors the screen to the mac, in Windows there's no such an option because it's apple only and you need to download third party solutions for windows.

Running Mac OS Ventura, intel based Macbook pro, after last OS update, my iPad no longer works in obs, it keeps blinking off and on to green screen and back to iPad. Ipad is 6th Gen OS 16.3..... I've tried everything but pulling my hair out, I used to use the iPad for a whiteboard in OBS just like you describe, but now she just blinks on and off?

Just what I needed. I will be teaching some classes using slides, but also using a game that will only work on the iPad. This way I don't have to change HDMI cables, but can just change a scene in OBS, even though I'm not actually recording.
