I got a 2018 in December. It has less than 7k miles on it and has been back twice for dropping to limp mode from a knock sensor code. That's once before they changed the sensor and once after. The car can't handle rpm load when passing or merging onto the highway. Both times the car dropped to 40mph almost immediately, almost causing pileups. DO NOT BUY A THETA II EQUIPED HYUNDAI OR KIA.

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has a problem where the engine seizes without warning. The average repair cost is about $5,000 and the average mileage at the time of seizing is around 90,000 miles. A class action lawsuit in 2015 found the 2.4-liter engine to be defective.

The 2020/2021 accord is truly the most impressive vehicle released in these years. I drove one in 2020 and was just floored at the performance, refinement, fit & finish. You simply cannot beat them for practicality and affordability. Someone down below was talking about Nissan Maxima...they are fun to drive but not as refined nor are they even near the same value (my pricings with similar trim was +$10,000) and they simply do not have the reliability to be a car I would recommend. I am not brand loyal, I simply think Honda has a far superior product in this segment, especially when value and longevity are apart of the equation.

I traded my Audi A3 for a Sonata N line lease and boy am I in love with this car. It really puts a smile on your face when you step on it. That wet dual clutch transmission is smooth as butter. When you want it to take off it truly is a rocket but when you want to cruise or you’re stuck in traffic it handles things beautifully. The shifts are perfect. The handling is superb. I cannot state this enough, do not second doubt it, get this car if you are thinking about it. It rips.

Tried out an Accord back in Nov of 2019 and I loved it. I liked the feel and handling, and how it looked classy and understated. My wife loves the Camry TRD, she thought it was more fun, and the interior styling was far more open and inviting. The Sonata N looks fine, but we haven't had a chance to try one out for ourselves.
I am really disappointed in the Acura, but with that AWD and the weight, it probably dominates those other competitors when it comes to snowy winter driving. It's like comparing aSubaru STI to a Civic Type R, two tools meant for vastly different jobs.

The launch control on that car mitigates wheel spin by limiting power until it can hook up but the worse the conditions, the longer it cuts power which could be why it fell so far behind. @@-SP. why?

    • @-SP.
      @-SP. 3 года назад +7

@@raiderfly I initially liked the design of the car seeing it in all these videos, but in person I didn't look at it all that well since I went to buy it on an afternoon. Basically the car only looks good from the rear end. The passengers sides look extremely cheap because Hyundai cheaped out and put a piece of hard touch plastic where the extra small window would go, and keep in mind I have the limited version which is the highest trim.
The interior also isn't great, they put piano black around the cup holders but put some type of rubber plastic material around the gear selector, this should be reversed because that's how it is in most cars, that use both materials. The piano black plastic can scratch easily if you accidently hit your water bottle against the plastic trying to put it into the cup holder.
The adaptive cruise control sucks because at the lowest distance setting the car still leaves enough room for almost 2 and half cars to fit in the gap between you and the car in front, this makes people behind you annoyed, and as a result I get cut off a lot, while feeling like an asshole for holding the lane back.
The Collison warning is also extremely annoying like sometimes it comes on when I am switching lanes, and there is a car next to me.
Now my biggest gripe is the extreme wind and road noise. I had a Honda Accord before and that had a lot of wind noise, but this blows it out of the water. If you are going over 40mph you can really start to hear the wind noise. At 60mph it becomes extremely loud, and at 80mph it's basically unbearable. This leads me to constantly checking to make sure if all 4 of my windows and sunroof are closed. I usually have to turn my music up super high just to be able to hear it over the noise.
I had a 2017 Honda Accord before this car that someone hit and totaled, and my Honda Accord was only around $1200 more expensive. But the Honda Accord had less road/ wind noise, better materials in the cabin, and a shorter distance between you and the car in front for the adaptive cruise control. Plus it was also faster, this car takes awhile to pickup when you need to overtake someone. Not to mention that car is also 12 inches longer giving you more room overall. I also had terrible time at the dealership, unrelated to the car itself, but it has completely turned me away from any future Hyundai products, because they wouldn't honor things written on their website. I think for the money, the new Civic is definitely the better buy since it's basically a mini Accord. I stupidly assumed that the new Civic wouldn't be available until early September, I should have just waited a few extra weeks.

Even fully kitted out when it was still available, it was hard to get it to crack $45k and you got a car with 315HP, AWD, and a bunch of cool features. I still prefer the aesthetic of the pre-facelift 2nd gen, but it's hard to argue with some of the features they introduced on the 2019 model year, which was the last year for the Sport model of the Fusion.

This Throttlehouse video saved me from trading my Accord Sport 2.0 for this Nline and for that I am truly grateful. If you listen to all of these million videos on RUclips you would think this car is a Maclaren. They all talk about 5 seconds to 60 but if you notice there are no actual videos showing 5 seconds to 60. That makes us suspicious of funny business between them and the manufacturer. Throttlehouse does nice unbiased real world tests with intelligent information conveyed to the public.

    • @JudahRichardson1
      @JudahRichardson1 3 года назад

      > listen to all of these million videos on RUclips
Fortunately there are these things called magazines with printed text that you can actually *read* 🤯 Motor Trend & Automobile tested the N-Line at 5.3 seconds to 60 and Car & Driver tested it at 5 seconds flat. The lowest Accord 2.0t number I've seen is 5.4 seconds. There's no funny business going on; 0.3s 60 time differences are normal if you *read* (there's that word again) independent instrumented tests.
Most RUclipsrs don't do independent instrumented tests because viewers watch for experience, sound, and subjective impressions, not numbers that you can *read*.
To me it sounds like the N-Line cut torque due to the ambient temperature, which could result in dangerous wheelspin + torque steer on slippery roads from a dead start (recall: its TSC can't be fully defeated). Now why didn't the Accord have the same problem? 1) Less torque to mitigate 2) More development and field time, which means Honda have had more time to spread R&D and improvement costs over the life of the car 3) Hyundai probably cut corners in cold weather testing to keep costs down.
BTW I'm a former Accord owner so technically I should be stanning Honda but I'll go with MT, C&D, & Automobile's instrumented tests over an uninstrumented RUclips drag race.

For about the first 1,200 miles or so the car felt sluggish. The pedal was stiff and tough to push. I was told that is normal and the best way to break it in is to challenge it and train it to be aggressive. Fast forward to now and the car is driving excellent. In these races, if they are racing cars not broken in, then it is not gonna perform at it's best.
