Genuinely the best video I’ve ever seen on the waiver process. I need a waiver for anxiety, depression, and ADD. Went through everything that he mentioned. Just finished that last step I needed of the consultation, and it went well, Meps agreed. Just put through for the waiver, waiting on the results. Edit: My waiver got approved after 1 year and 5 months of waiting. Trust the process, this video actually has more knowledge on the process than most recruiters.

This video definitely helped. I am currently going through the medical waiver process. I had depression when I was 16 (im 20 now) was prescribed antidepressants and went to see a psychiatrist. I went MEPs and I’m greatly discouraged. It took 3 months to pass a drug test. I scored a 67 on the ASVAB and have 75 credits towards my bachelors. I have disqualifications for ADHD and Prozac for depression, something with my hip, and An IEP. I haven’t taken my Prozac or adhd for a year in half. Come may 2024 I wouldn’t have gotten a refill for 24months. I do believe I was misdiagnosed because I stopped using it 2 months after receiving it. It gave me headaches and made me overwhelmed. As for the IEP my mom and counselor kept me on it against my wishes for college assistance. I was A & B grades for a little of sophomore, junior, and Senior year. I went into college unassisted because I truly didn’t feel like I needed it. My hip disqualification literally says it doesn’t affect my running or working out. I’m worried I won’t make it.
You’ll most likely be told you’ll have to wait until 36mo of completing your latest prescription and the rest of the tips and advice are within the video above. For IEP/504 Plan, obtain those records and I’d def recommend getting a letter from the school and college that you stopped using it, etc… obtain a letter from a former high school teacher, college professor and a current or former supervisor on how you performed, acted, worked, etc… They’ll be your character reference letters providing the Surgeon General at total applicant concept. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor!
But they will let people who were suicidal from a year ago join that is just insane to me. There’s a huge difference between being depressed and actually trying to take your life that part I will never understand. Keep your head up keep trying don’t give up they need people and if you’re honest sound person, then you deserve to serve if that’s what you want. Praying for you.
@@tutimiranda7263 they found it. However my process took 6 months. With college credits and letters from my IEP instructor I got it waived. I graduated basic May 16 and I’m currently in AIT.
I have very little faith mine will get approved I had an old diagnosis of PTSD no self harm no SI/hospitalization been off meds for 3 years it’s my biggest hurdle I did get a written letter from my new psychologist also saying I don’t qualify for ptsd, depression, or anxiety and that in her opinion I’m more than capable of handling the challenges/stressors of the military. I was processing approved for MEPS and I’m going next week. Ultimately I know meps is there to deny you for whatever they can which honestly worries me the most because this has been what I’ve wanted to do all my life and I’ve worked extremely hard to get to even this point. Update: my waiver was approved

Thank you for this video seriously, it was beyond helpful and reading other's comments on this is highly encouraging, this was a really in demand topic that needed to be discussed by what I see in the comments. I went to USCG basic at 27 y/o in hopes to join reserves and made it through 4 weeks before a discharge, I was told I could try to reenlist after a year free of anxiety symptoms. I'm looking into going through the process again in August of this year and contacting an Army recruiter. One thing I'll also add for anyone going, don't underestimate the conditions you will be in there, you will likely get ill with a respiratory infection (everyone including myself did when I went) and it sucks in conjunction with everything else they throw at you at basic. Be physically prepared and memorize as much as possible before you get off that bus. Good luck to everyone with your journey.

i just went through the entire waiver process for adhd medicine that i took and to get statements from doctors and the adhd testing that had been done to prove if i had it or not. i even had to write a statement saying my side of why i was prescribed the medicine. then i had to send prescription history form the last 3 years that showed i was only prescribed once ever in my life for that one medicine. process sound like alot but in total it was about a month before i got the ok to do my full med exam and this was around the holidays. as long as you send what they ask you will move along smoothly

This was really interesting I was actually reading about the accurate portrayal of basic training in Hollywood movies, then I was reading an article on it, and that ultimately led me to find many videos on RUclips about it. I love learning things, and also what recruits can expect to experience in basic training. I'm not in the military myself, I have thought about joining the army, and I would go in a heartbeat if they would take me. But unfortunately I probably wouldn't qualify for many reasons(I'm 35, I have 1 felony on my record got in trouble over 10 years ago, history of mental illness, and no high school diploma or GED) But anyways thank you for the video good sir you are awesome, and blessings to everyone and thanks to all for your amazing service🥰

Called the hospital before MEPS to get a hold of the "privacy officer" and opted out of "sharing and receiving" of all data for HIE (Health information Exchange) and "care everywhere". The ER visit didn't come up on my background check at MEPS, however other doctors visits from other hospitals did (I didn't opt out of HIE for these locations)

Is this a state thing? I've never seen an option to opt-out. I opt-out of everything now after my ex sought my medical records to try to prove our son didn't have autism. A plan hatched up by his then-attorney that backfired in their faces. I know in Kansas they report everything no matter what for opioids to prevent med-seeking (tHaT iS foR sUrE hElPiNg PeOpLe iN dEsPaIr). I know more progressive states like California are very privacy conscious. I know for business purposes the whole cookies on websites now. Which is why most websites have the warning now even though it doesn't matter in most states. I love California for looking out for people like that. It's messed up they can just find our med records no matter what. ALSO, I know of at least two people who claim to have disabilities and they are not disabled whatsoever. Their "sleep apnea" which they both ironically have gains them thousands per month. And then they vote against OTHER people getting health benefits they actually need. SMH. Those people piss me off.
I had a surgery many years ago. It's a condition called hyperhydrosis. My hands, armpits, and feet used to sweat a lot. The surgery was simple enough. There are two staples on each side of my chest blocking the sweat glands in my hands and armpits. I'll need a waiver for that. As an unintended side effect of the surgery the rest of my body sweats now. I recently got prescribed a drug that slightly helps. They prescribed me something that helps mentally disabled people to drool less. I'll need a waiver for that too. I could do fine without the medication at boot camp though, people will just probably think to themselves, "wtf??" When they see that it looks like I pissed my pants due to sweating too much. It's embarassing, not disabling. If I'm able to drink water a reasonable amount I think I'll do very well at boot camp. I'm in good shape and workout. Most people never met anyone quite like me... could you possibly tell me if there's anything I can do for these 2 waivers I'll need? And frankly I'll need a few more waivers too... I need this to be approved. My life is a disaster rn.

I went to meps a couple months ago and I was very discouraged to discover due to Genesis my past medical history disqualified me to enlist and I require multiple waivers. I was diagnosed with autoimmune disease when I was 12 and been on medications since up to a year ago. Now I’m in the best shape of my life and medication free for a year, I lift heavy weights and run distance races to keep me going strong. I would just hate to go through such a long process with such a long past medical history and still be denied due to it. I’ve been heavily looking into all aspects of the military to see if it would personally be a good fit for my life so I still have tons of research to do still. Please Wish me the best of luck!! 🤞🏾💪🏾
I’d say with updated testing, evaluations from those specialists and obtaining some sort of all clear let you might have a shot. If denied, wait and try after the 2 and 3 yr anniversary of the date you got off medication. Get updated evaluations and testing done at those times to be reconsidered to appeal the medical waiver. Also, after 2yrs you’ll also be required to redo the meps medical exam for testing and medical exams are only good for two years. YAY! Navy has the loosest tattoo policy. My cousin has a whole sleeve and they let her in. I think maybe that's why she went Navy? They allow full sleeves and this is really an honor to the sailors of our past who got tattoos as a camaraderie brotherhood thing. Before women could fight. And it just continued. It's weird none of my parents got tats. I don't have any either. But I love them. Permanent jewelry :) Again, something they will need to loosen the policy on in other branches. I don't have too many friends or even one I can think of without a tat. It might be covered by clothes but hey, they still got one. I'm still glad I didn't get "the stamp" back in the 00s. I'd be regretting that one. Or my brilliant idea to get my name on my ankle. I think I'm old enough now to do a meaningful one because back then nothing was that meaningful to me. But with life comes struggle. And when you make it thru you're stronger for it. Which is another reason so many peeps with history of mental conditions should honestly be prioritized. Like, they went through some shizz and are still here on the other side. I'd say that's waiver enough. But alas, I'm not in charge. Best of wishes on your commission or enlistment and thank you SO SO MUCH for your service. Much love to anyone else reading who is about to serve or has served or is currently serving. You're the real heroes!!! Love you all :)
I went to meps and I passed everything except the genesis. Doctor said I had took adhd medication which means I might’ve had an IEP. I graduated in 2018 and yes I did have an IEP but it wasn’t for accommodations like extra test time or anything. It was simple check in’s to see how I’m doing in class and if there was any changes that needed to be done. Like if I wasn’t going to class or if I was failing a class. I admit I did ditch class a couple of times but from what I’ve experienced a lot of kids did/do that. It doesn’t make it right but it’s common. I own it though and can admit it wasn’t the best decision. That’s all I can remember from my IEPs really I mean it’ll say something’s in there about my past but itll also say how I’ve grown significantly and even graduated with a normal diploma. I turned in all my paper work along with my mangers letter. I didn’t do school because I really don’t know what I want to major in or if I really want to do school again. But I turned in my evaluation stating that adhd Isn’t something that affects my life anymore and that I’ve been off medication for over 6 yrs along with being stable all together. My pharmacy papers along with a letter stating I haven’t received medication from them in over 4 yrs . And my transcripts with my IEP paperwork. I haven’t heard that I’ve been DQ’d and my recruiter says that everything should be fine because I haven’t been on medication in over 6 yrs along with my diploma being a regular HS diploma . He sent my paperwork Thursday/Friday I believe and he says that status is received. I wanted to hear some of your feedback on my matter .. Do you think I have a low or high/mid possibility of joining? I’m 24 btw so I’ve lived some life and I can honestly say I’m not the same person I was when I was highschool/18. I feel I’ve grown even more through the experiences I’ve had while being an adult in this world. I’m also trying to go navy.
It’s possible based on what you’ve shared and can be backed up by your paperwork. If you had good grades reflected on your official high school/college transcripts, zero behavioral issues at the schools Dean Office, updated mental health and behavioral health assessments… you could possibly get an approval for your medical waiver. You’ll need strong character references from teachers, coaches, employers, colleagues, etc… Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! OMG. A heart murmur and he obvs couldn't even finish with his broken scope. He should have written that down along with murmur he heard. Not to mention innocent heart murmurs are a thing. Especially if you're young. Who are these physicians? I'm low-key afraid now.
Ah seems like I’m done for. I wanted to become a pilot originally and had to submit all my records regarding ADHD. I failed the neurophysiological exam for impulsivity and executive set switching and can’t become a pilot unless I wanna pay $2700 out of pocket for a re test. So my back up plan was airforce. Here I am going down the rabbit hole. Unless I can prove I was pretty much undiagnosed for adhd I can already predict I’m DQ’d.

I did and unfortunately I told them I was suicidal and was taken to the hospital over the weekend before I was separated. Thanks for explaining everything in detail , got finished with MEPS and was told by medical that my process was incomplete and need to get more information about my surgery that I’ve had when I was 6 years old , need to regroup and ask for help from relatives in California because it was there I had surgery but currently living in Illinois and need to pin-point and locate the actual hospital smh
These are those unfortunate situations where MHS Genesis isn’t as good as what we’d like. Unless it’s you requesting your records, due to HIPAA Laws, they aren’t allowed to give your records out. You’ll have to phone each hospital asking for records under your info and request it through their protocol. If no records are found after finding the correct location, a letter on official letter head from the records dept must give you that letter for MEPS. If this happens, decreases the warm and fuzzy for the MEPS CMO/Surgeon General. I’d get a hand written letter including as many details as possible from mom explaining the injury, surgery and recovery. Also follow the tips for updated evaluations and testing for that injury. You’re probably not aware that serving in the U.S. Military can be and will be a stressful environment and at times extremely stressful. If you’re already prone to depression and to the point you’ve self harmed yourself over the type of stress you’re subjected to as a regular civilian… some time has to pass in order for the respective branch of service and DOD/Dept of Defense to feel as comfortable as they can to approve your medical history and consideration for a medical waiver in hopes that your military experience won’t trigger you and push you back into a situation less than ideal and detrimental to your mental health. I had a good PFT and submitted up and they said I’m still being denied despite the good results of the test showing I don’t have asthma. Submitted all my med docs and I’m still being denied. I had childhood “asthma” but it was because I was allergic to cats. At MEPS I had a quack of a doctor. He told me to take a deep breath one time and said I have “asthma” my primary said there’s no way that’s possible I said yup better believe it. Not giving up though, I lost 65 pounds to get to this point.
If your PFT is 6mo or more old, redo that and get this done as well. Get an MCCT (methacholine challenge test) and have an applicant statement reflecting high level athletic performance such as a tough mudder or similar event, with no issues. If you’re still receiving or received an inhaler for “precautionary or preventive” reasons after growing out of it, get a letter from the Dr it was “just incase” and that you appear to have out grown it as well. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you for watching and stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Hey, Sgt. Swartz. This was a really informative video. When I was in Army basic training, I had a pulmonary test done for asthma and was discharged. My papers had a re-entry code that if I try to enlist again, I would need a waiver. I had a pulmonary test done prior to joining, but I was told that if I wanted to try again I needed a new test done even though my doctor told me I was clear. I want to know if it's the end of the road for me, or it's possible (if difficult) to come back with more recent results, even if it's for another branch. You're doing awesome work on your channel. I appreciate all the knowledge your giving your audience and I hope to learn even more. Have a nice day.
Follow the guidance in this video and you’ll have a better chance for a favorable outcome. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Applied for my medical waiver for ADHD w/o hyperactivity in February of 2023 now coming up on February 2024. All the website says is Waiver under review and have no word if the surgeon general has even looked at it.
One of two three things happened. You were temporarily disqualified with a Return Date of whatever waiting period set by the MEPS CMO before they would accept your medical waiver and never told to you. Or your recruiter doesn’t have the balls or heart to tell you your medical waiver was denied or it was never submitted. Find a new Recruiter if they aren’t being straight up with you or not. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I know your video didn't cover it but ive already done tons of research myself and I know im disqualified. At 16 I started going through episodes of psychosis and was diagnosed with schizophrenia not to long after. (I'm 19 now and im nearly two years free from any symptoms) Ever since I was little I wanted to be a Medic or at least service in any way that I could but my brain chemistry decided otherwise, It does hurt but I understand that I would be a bigger liability than help.
Follow these tips because that still falls under mental health. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Glad you’re feeling better!
I’m 17 and want to join when I graduate in 2025 but I had gotten prescribed anti depressants bc I got depressed when I broke my back. If I go through 15 months without treatment and be honest on why I was depressed which is bc I broke my back rodeoing and lost rodeo. It stopped when I was able to get out of the house and start doing stuff again such as hiking and hunting and being able to go fishing again, as well as being able to help around the house again and the list goes on and on . Guitar and hiking as well as regular excerise helped me feel better and finding God as well and helping others out. My support system is my some of my co workers and my dad as well as some friends and my coping mechanisms are playing guitar hiking in the country behind my house with my dog. Do you think I will be approved, I hope I am my grandpa and great grandpa and great great grandpa were marines my cousin is in Marsoc as a dog handler and I’m part native America so my ancestors were always warriors. So it would mean the whole world to me to be accepted
Sounds to me like you’re a good candidate for a waiver and ultimately it’s up to your overall records and ability to get an all clear. This video will def help for sure! Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
@@TEAMSWARTZ thank you sir it means a lot I wrote my applicant statement with my English teachers help just waiting for March when I turn 18 to get records and sign up your video was very helpful
What’s up Team Swartz, so I got a odd one. My mother was very abusive and she got real violent so I called the cops which turned into my mom saying I was crazy and on drugs (which was later proven false by the hospital drug tests), which in turn made the cops take me to the hospital. My mom tried putting me in a mental hospital for intoxication but they wouldn’t because my tests came back negative so she told them I was planning to kill myself which they took serious. After going to the mental facility they told me I wasn’t crazy or suicidal and needed to go home. Once I was discharged I started staying with my dad and all my depression and anxiety went away and I’ve never had symptoms. (Btw I’ve never been suicidal or self harmed). Also I got put on antidepressants around September of 2022 and my prescription was cancelled around June of 2023. What are my odds? Also I went to a military school for high school and was in JROTC just wondering if that helps my case at all
I feel when the appropriate time goes by you can apply and expect a favorable decision in your medical waiver. Follow my tips here in this video: US ARMY MEPS MEDICAL WAIVER GUIDE & BEST TIPS | WHAT IS THE US ARMY MEDICAL WAIVER PROCESS? ruclips.net/video/P02k-kCmTio/видео.html Now, currently, depending on your records, severity and all documentation, applicant statement and updated evaluations, you should be good to go but keep in mind, MEPS may tell you that you’ll have to be off medication for 2-3yrs. Have your recruiter submit a complex prescreen after you follow my tips. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Got a letter a couple days ago from MEPS saying that my asthma is disqualifying I’m trying to join the Air Force. My Asthma was only moderate never severe and I never had to go to the ER or had any asthma attacks only light wheezing or coughing I only experienced this from about 8 years old to 11 years old since then I’ve never had another incident I played basketball all throughout high school with no issues and went to several basketball camps with no issues with my asthma in 2021 before I became an adult my primary care physician dropped all of my meds for my asthma like my inhaler and such so hopefully my waiver will be approved 🤔
Sounds like you’ll receive a favorable outcome. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Eventually they’re going to have to bring back the drafts, now is not the time for them to be too picky with recruiting being low. 🥴 Anywho, great video! 😎👍🏽
Pretty informative to watch. When I tried to join a decade & change ago having depression & medication was communicated to me as a no-go by my recruiter; they said I'd have to be off of it after an year then (not sure if it was different back then) or I'd fail the blood test. Didn't even try to go to MEPs with that news, but always wondered if I pushed it would I have gotten a waiver or something. Although based off this information I probably wouldn't have gotten approved anyway.
I just got denied a medical waiver today. I’m crushed, but I’m trying to do anything I can to change it. I went to the Director of Neuroplasic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins a few months ago and he said it shouldn’t be an issue and then my doctor at MEPS was in the neuroplastics field as well and he said it shouldn’t be an issue, I’ll have a waiver in a week or two. Next thing I know I’m getting a call from my recruiter saying they said no and giving me almost no further information. I just don’t get how professionals in the field say I’m good to go and I still get denied. Also, I got a 96 on the ASVAB 133 GT 143 ST, they said it was some of the highest scores they’ve seen, but that means nothing to them now. I think they have there priorities all out of whack. My MEPS roommate had a sexual assault charge and some clear mental health issues and he was in the last steps of joining.
I don’t Lee what your condition was that you were attempting to waiver but try another branch. Like, if you were trying for active duty Army it Reserve, try National Guard. It’s a different Surgeon General. If they deny as well, try other branches until you’ve tried them all. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
@@TEAMSWARTZ Thank you, I was born with Craniosynostosis if you’re interested, my skull basically fused prematurely and they had to remake the sutures.
With something like mhs genesis, I’m doubting the capabilities of the military. I just got denied at Meps and they wouldn’t even tell me why. I passed the Asvab with an 87 and I even passed the EDPT. Honestly the experience really sucks. I’ve been pushing myself physically to the next level, I can pass Boot camp right now. I want to serve but I’m being told I can’t. Now I’m second guessing risking my life for the military
Your recruiter can tell you what your disqualified for. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I went to MEPS and passed everything, now I just need Waiver for Schizophrenia, I dont have an illness of mental health I'm not sure why the hospital doctors put that into my records. Maybe because they sent me to a mental clinic but had to stay there for a Month and 2 weeks. They wouldn't let me go back home either and had to stay for their program and i felt like i was a Lab Rat, had to eat their medication or they'll say if i refuse the longer ill be held in the Program. I was wondering if anyone else had Schizophrenia? That needed a Waiver
Follow the tips in this video for maximum consideration. If you don’t, you don’t stand a chance and will be denied. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼

Coming across all of this gave me hope especially seeing you still active in these comments. I want to make Airforce but I heard they were picky but idk if that just meps that is picky. I wanna make sere. I need a medical waiver for attempted suicide 7 years ago was admitted. Adhd been off the meds for 3 months (this is what holding me back I don’t wanna go talk to a recruiter and waste their time.) I was gonna go around the year mark. Anxiety Broken bones Inhaler for being sick only prescribed once. Also autism which is under PDD but honestly it’s misdiagnosed my doctors thought I had communication problems but in reality I was bullied to the point of no talking. I’m scared I won’t make it cause of the attempt.
@@makaylasfox7423 There’s a new update I haven’t been able to get my hands on yet called MARP. It’s added new updates to existing and adding new conditions with exceptions. Meaning they’ve updated minimum wait times now allow things where previously didn’t, etc… Last I checked minimum waiting period is 2-3 years from last anxiety prescription. But you def have to wait 6mo from your last ADHD prescription. All I can say is leave it up to the MEPS CMO to determine. My guess is you’ll have to wait 6mo to about 2-3yrs max before you can apply depending on the updates, your records, etc… In the end, if you play your cards right… you have a chance for a favorable outcome. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you for watching and stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
@ the only recent thing is adhd meds everything else is from me being 15 I’m now 21 with a family also. So idk if that helps I’ve grown a lot since then. My adhd I’ve been on and off it my whole life. Never took it everyday. But i stopped filling in September. So it’s been abt 3 months. I wasn’t gonna start any process till after my son’s 2nd birthday. I turn 22 in march so everything besides adhd been almost 7 years ago.

@ Victor Castillo. Good luck with your waiver. I had to get a waiver, too, for my vision to join the Army National Guard. I'm sure your waiver will get approved. By the way, are you in yet?

Thank you for the information! I just have a couple quick questions. I’m about to go to college and would love to partake in ROTC. Specifically, I’m hoping to be a nurse in the navy someday and am going to get my bachelor’s in nursing. However, I do have a history of adhd and anxiety. I was diagnosed with adhd when I was younger, and have been on medication up until this point. I’ve had accommodations in school (though I don’t really need them) and went to CBT on and off for a couple years until 10th grade. At this point, i don’t really feel like I need the medication anymore and am planning on going off it. In terms of anxiety, I’ve been anxiety free for almost 3 years, never needed medication, and don’t have any issues with it now. I believe the pandemic had a huge part in me having anxiety. I’m hoping to go into the military through ROTC and wouldn’t be taking a combat position. I would join as a nurse. Does that have different waiver requirements and would I be able to get one with my history? Would they even let me join the nurse ROTC at my school?

Hey, SGT. I recently put my applicant statement in for my waiver. It included all my medical documents of recent, clearing letter, and even mentioned other things as proactively going to the gym and working out at home. I was discharged with low grade osteopenia during BCT and was told I could go back in. Today, my waiver got denied because it still shows I have low grade osteopenia on genesis. I’m not really sure on what to do for my next steps. My recruiter told me there wasn’t much he could do and apologized for wasting my time. Is it worth trying a different recruiter and seeing if they’ll be able to help more than my previous recruiter? Or do you think it’ll be better to try a different branch than ARMY to see if results with change?
I don’t care what Genesis shows. You have to get updated tests/evaluations proving you no longer have that issue. Once cleared, then I’d appeal that waiver denial and attempt again. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor!
Hello, I’m 23 years old now, Not meeting a recruiter as of yet. But I’m planning on wanting to enlist in the Marines and want to choose either infantry or like military police. I’m trying so hard on doing a lot of research and things about meps and the whole medical thing. I’m kinda autistic but eventually grew out of it, I got depressed at 17 years and got over it by doing positive activities like Martial arts and exercising. I had to take antibiotics at 14 to almost 15 years old due to have acne breakouts and so forth, I’m not any medication or nothing anymore. I’m wanting to talk to a recruiter soon about getting some waivers for the things and always get super nervous and doubts to ever try hard on wanting to join. I always wanted to join so bad, trying to work hard on doing anything I can to pass and be able to get into the Marines. Wish me luck and thank you for sharing some of the tips in this video.

I am going through the same process right now, I’m 23 and “depressed” was diagnosed stupidly when I was younger and have to go though extra hoops now that I’m looking into the army I’m looking into infantry or military police, I’m going to Meps in 3 weeks for medical and hope I pass
This was extremely helpful, I do have a few questions for you. May of 2022 I got the Nexplanon arm implant birth control and had crazy mood swings, I talked to my primary care physician and he diagnosed me with depression and prescribed Zoloft (25mg) in June of 2022. I took the Zoloft for 4 months and the last time I picked up the perscription was November of 2022. I've been off of the medication for over 8 months now and I feel amazing, Ive adjusted to the hormones from the birth control and have no problems whatsoever. I was never suicidal or had any self harm problems, I just never experienced mood swings like that before and didn't think about the possibility of the birth control causing it. Would I be able to pass through MEPS with those records? I have my heart set on the airforce and want to start my journey as soon as I can. I also have another issue, In march of this year I had some sort of illness and was congested and coughing for about a month and a half, did a virtual visit with my physicians assistant and he prescribed me an inhaler, I have medical notes from my doctor stating "upper respiratory infection has resolved, was given an inhaler and has not used need the medication." Would I need a waiver for that as well? I was never diagnosed with asthma or anything of that sort. Sorry for the long comment and multiple questions I just can't find a direct answer on google. I take my ASVAB on Tuesday and will see my recruiter so I will also talk to him about it, I just know that some recruiters don't want to put in the work to get all of the waivers that are needed.
I’m not concerned with the upper respiratory infection. If it’s been more than 6mo since you’ve been cleared of and stopped medication, then follow the guidance within the video and see if an approved medical waiver can be entertained now. If not, try again at one year and if not, try again at 2yr mark. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Hello, I've been trying to enlist now for 6 years. Finally got an awesome recruiter and passed the physical. Just put in my last documents for my passed mental health waiver last week Monday. The MEPs doc sent it to the NGB and then the Pentagon. It is now in progress to the NGB and then to the Pentagon. My recruiter said the Major at the NGB was impressed and now it's going to the Pentagon. Hopefully I'll get in, my recruiter said it's a 95% I should be able to enlist.
Hopefully your waiver gets approved! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor!
With a waiver, yes and depending on their records, severity, diagnosis, updated Diagnosis, medication history, dosage, etc… Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I was diagnosed with spondylosis earlier this year but I feel 100% again nothing. I don’t have insurance anymore so I’m getting a meps consult. I hope everything goes well
My initial thoughts is if you’re updated testing shows you’re still diagnosed with that condition. No waiver authorized. If you were misdiagnosed, waiver authorized. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you for watching and stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼

It's been a year since I got out the army. ( October 31, 2022) I need to wait another year to hopefully get a waiver as a re entry 3. I am doing better in work out now. Planning to reduce my hours of my job to spend more hours in work out.
I got disqualified from meps about a week ago for suicidal thoughts in 2022. I had diagnosed depression and anxiety, took general anti-depressants for about three years and did therapy for like four. I got off of the meds four years ago, and the mental illness diagnoses were cleared before I went to meps. I know the army is a little more relaxed on it's mental health restrictions, if I were to enlist in the army do you think I'd get in? Suicidal thoughts was 24 months ago and that's the only mention of it on my record and I'm getting a new psych evaluation in about a week or so.
These are generally tough waivers to get approved and even more challenging with SI or SA. It wouldn’t be unexpected if MEPS in the end says to wait 36mo from the completion of your last anti-depressants or SI. All my tips, insights and guidance are in this video in which you commented beneath. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor!
Thanks for your time and hardwork giving clear direction, instructions and advice. I have always had a strong desire to join the military but chose the Law Enforcement career. I have 2 four year college degrees. Now about to retire after 25 years and found on the army career website and engineering officer position for direct commission up to age 51, without waiver(I am 48). I did have a bicep surgery due on duty crash years ago but released to full duty without restriction. Also have slight elevated blood pressure due job, I am fit and pass our physical standards without problems. Any suggestions to get a good look a this position as this would be my last chance.

Praying for you.
did you tell them about your IEP or did they find it
@@tutimiranda7263 they found it.

The ER visit didn't come up on my background check at MEPS, however other doctors visits from other hospitals did (I didn't opt out of HIE for these locations)
Interesting and thank you for sharing! Thank you for watching and stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor!
Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! I’ve had one of these denied before and hope you don’t have the same experience. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor!

That’s all I can remember from my IEPs really
I mean it’ll say something’s in there about my past but itll also say how I’ve grown significantly and even graduated with a normal diploma.
You’ll need strong character references from teachers, coaches, employers, colleagues, etc…

I also forgot to mention my other coping mechanisms and support is reading books and learning history of the world and guitar
I should also note it was a test run for 3 weeks

Now, currently, depending on your records, severity and all documentation, applicant statement and updated evaluations, you should be good to go but keep in mind, MEPS may tell you that you’ll have to be off medication for 2-3yrs.

Sorry to hear that and Thank you for watching and stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I passed the Asvab with an 87 and I even passed the EDPT.
Honestly the experience really sucks. I’ve been pushing myself physically to the next level, I can pass Boot camp right now. I want to serve but I’m being told I can’t.
Now I’m second guessing risking my life for the military

I went to MEPS and passed everything, now I just need Waiver for Schizophrenia, I dont have an illness of mental health I'm not sure why the hospital doctors put that into my records. Maybe because they sent me to a mental clinic but had to stay there for a Month and 2 weeks. They wouldn't let me go back home either and had to stay for their program and i felt like i was a Lab Rat, had to eat their medication or they'll say if i refuse the longer ill be held in the Program. I was wondering if anyone else had Schizophrenia? That needed a Waiver

Adhd been off the meds for 3 months (this is what holding me back I don’t wanna go talk to a recruiter and waste their time.) I was gonna go around the year mark.

Broken bones
Inhaler for being sick only prescribed once.

Hello, I’m 23 years old now,
Not meeting a recruiter as of yet.
But I’m planning on wanting to enlist in the Marines and want to choose either infantry or like military police.
I’m trying so hard on doing a lot of research and things about meps and the whole medical thing.
I’m kinda autistic but eventually grew out of it,
I got depressed at 17 years and got over it by doing positive activities like Martial arts and exercising.

Currently going through this process due to high blood pressure…I have white coat syndrome and always have my BP read high when taken by medical professionals, but is normal when taken at home…hopefully can get this figured out.
They usually account for this. Take an over the counter garlic, fish oil, potassium and consume less salt, processed foods and fried foods. Increase water intake and I want you to practice controlling your mind. It’s mindset. In your mind, it’s just another Tuesday. Imagine you’re at home and a family member is the one checking your blood pressure. You got this!
@@TEAMSWARTZgot it done yesterday, everything went well! Meeting with my recruiter on Thursday for background, fingerprints, and to schedule me going back to MEPS to finish everything up! Thanks
@@repstein07 hey did you ever got in. And when you went back to meps did they check your BP?? I’m currently in the same problem. I got nervous and it went high.
Hey! Thanks for the video, just to be clear they run your medical records after your meps physical? Or before?
Before and during your medical exam. Good Luck in MEPS and may the MEPS Gods forever, be in your favor! 💯 Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I had finished my eye consult yesterday for the Army and gave the report to MEPS i have really bad vision on my left eye wear the optic nerve was damaged from high eye pressure. I can only see the biggest letter on the Eye letter chart (sometimes)
I was told to expect an answer either this month or early February.
Will update the status on the waiver here
Didn’t sound good at all. Idk but I think it will get denied. Please follow up with me for the result. I’m def curious… Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Great video. My son is looking to join the Navy. He is taking a SSRI for anxiety and meds for ADHD. He is talking to his docs about titration and coming off. Will he have to wait 36 months? He is currently working out 5 days a week to get in shape.
It really depends on his history and unique details to hope king he’ll have to be off meds and stable. Good luck on your waiver and may the waiver gods forever be in your favor! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
