I love how all the family is involved in Sew Yeah, especially the guys, because quilting isn’t just for girls! Y’all do a great job. This quilt is fantastic!
Thank you I really enjoy watching you. You talk loud enough make your instructions interesting and easy to follow. Thank you and would like to see you do more videos.
This is really pretty!!! I really need to get my hands on some of these Vegas strips sets!💙💜🩷 (I might add some sashing between blocks on this one to make the star flakes really pop! ❄️
Some people say..”oh dont use your mat use your ruler” I have used my mats measurements for years with no problems at all, im glad to see a professional using at mat with no qualms
The Olfa company has a video where they recommend to use a ruler for accuracy. To not rely from the markings and measurements on their cutting mat. I found that so interesting. But regardless of the technique you choose consistency is the key.
Not all mats are accurate. If yours is you won’t have any issues. I checked my main mat against my ruler and it is fine but I have a cheap mat for trimming next to my sewing machine and it’s not accurate or consistently off so if I used this to measure my cuts would be way off.
Great pattern Zachary!. I really appreciate your words of encouragement for us beginners. You've made me feel more confident to make this quilt. You called it a snowflake. I see a star and what came to mind....Star Wars vegas strip! 🤩😋Gracias!
It's quilting's newest pre-cut, it's a strip set of 6 1/2" x WoF strips, usually 19-21 strips per set. Find them here: sewyeahquilting.com/collections/vegas-strips
Like this easy quilt? This one's even easier!

As long as you are consistent it doesn't matter
The Olfa company has a video where they recommend to use a ruler for accuracy. To not rely from the markings and measurements on their cutting mat. I found that so interesting. But regardless of the technique you choose consistency is the key.
@@sallyskinner461 yeah, my olfa lip ruler and any mat give me beautiful blocks right out of the gait!
As long as you are using the mat for all of your cuts and squaring up for the entirety of the quilt, it works. Consistently is all that matters
Not all mats are accurate. If yours is you won’t have any issues. I checked my main mat against my ruler and it is fine but I have a cheap mat for trimming next to my sewing machine and it’s not accurate or consistently off so if I used this to measure my cuts would be way off.
What a great block. Thanks for the tutorial.

It looks like a star and a snow flake, hence the 'Starflake' name! Thanks so much for your comment ♥

🤗🤗🤗
Those Vegas Strips must be very accurately cut to be able to just slice it in half to get 3-1/2 inch strips!!!
They are cut extremely accurately and carefully! 😄
Love the versatility of the vegas strips. I must make this in black, gray and white. Do you sell a black and gray vegas strip?
We just restocked and have a set of solids that are several values. Take a look! sewyeahquilting.com/collections/vegas-strips
What is a "Vegas Strip"? To me it's a sea of tacky neon signs.
