I believe the 1st 5" cut from the 5x10 piece was miscut at 4 1/2. He should have only had to make 1- 5" cut with 5" left over. I really love a FQ friendly pattern!
You're right Teancum. The Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer Ruler is great! I've been using it for a while. It makes getting exactly sized half square triangles so easy. Being able to trim off the tips immediately after squaring saves time. No going back to trim those later :) 👍 on the pattern. Thanks for sharing. 💖
If you cut the vertical and horizontal lines on the 10” squares first, it’s easier as the other 2 cuts are between sewn pieces. More accurate, less fussing.
what size do you cut the triangles, I don't have any triangle rulers, I am going to buy afew meters of fabric as that would work out cheaper for me then buying fat quarters
Hello! Thanks for watching! I have included the link to the pattern that has all the cutting information you need. Happy quilting! www.dropbox.com/s/rda7ltfn2v40rjl/Crazy%208's%20Quilt%20Pattern.pdf?dl=0
Sorry about the question but I am math challenged - I am thinking I could use a layer cake for this...would it be 2 layer cakes? I love these techniques....thank you for sharing. Cheers from Canada
It looks like you need 112 10” squares , I think you would need 3 layer cakes and you will have some left over. You will get the 4-5” squares from 1 10” square. That is how I came up with the 112 10” squares needed.
@@barbarabaker346 thank you ... I was thrown off by so many triangles and couldn’t get it straight. I guess fat quarters would be way more economical than the layer cakes. 🙂 appreciate the help 🙂
I was thinking that too til I realized it was the shape of the fat quarter. If you are near a quilting store you could buy 10” or 20” yardage pieces instead🙂
I think this a good demonstration. However, I cannot understand why quilters on videos do not press the fabric before cutting the fabric. For goodness sake please get rid of the wrinkles and creases before cutting.
You should ALWAYS iron your fabric first!! Especially fat quarters which are folded multiple times as this can affect the accuracy of your cuts! No offense but dang that white fabric is cheap, when you can see everything underneath it because it is so thin, it is a cheap fabric.
Love how easy and Beautiful, the quilts are.
Glad you like them!
Thank you for sharing you're pattern💟
👍🥰😊
I would definitely iron those fat quarters prior to cutting. And , I love my wonder clips as well!
I love your videos. You always get right to the point. So straightforward and efficiently explained.
Thank you! 💕🫶😊
Always a creative way to design a quilt! One of the best video quilt stops for me!
Thanks so much
Thanks for the tutorial. What a lovely quilt pattern. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Love the pattern, easy. Thank you. Sandra B.
Yay! We are so glad it was easy to follow! Thanks for watching. Happy quilting! 😂❤🎉
Great tutorial! One thought...when cutting up the 10in square, cut the unmarked lines first in case they get moved. Might help newer quilters.
Love the purple print...great tutorial.
Thanks!
Love it..tyvm

What do you do with your scraps or waste from your fat quarters?

what kind of rotary cutter do you use?

Great tutorial. However, your pattern does not say what size you trim the half square triangles to. Is it 4.5??? Many thanks.
As you probably have guessed we are behind in answering comments. Trying to catch up and stay that way. I'm sure you have found the answer by now.
Am I confused? Why not just get your identical half square triangles from 4 10” squares instead of 2 10” squares and 4 5” squares?
You can’t get 4 pieces 10 x 10 out of a fat quarter. (Only 18” long)
I was thinking that too til I realized it was the shape of the fat quarter. If you are near a quilting store you could buy 10” or 20” yardage pieces instead🙂
@@eirika2001 and trust their cuts to be exact?

When I use the clearly perfect slotted trimmer, my half square triangles come out a tad bit small.
Are you putting dotted line on stitch line or edge? Edge will make too small.

Never waste!! Repurpose.
Agreed!!!
Why don't you iron your fabric before cutting it?
😂😂🤔🤨

Waste?!? That's not waste, it's the pieces for a scrap quilt!
Yes it is !!!
It's killing me that you don't iron your fabric before cutting!
😂😂😂😂
