find Retinaldehyde to be perfect for my sensitive to normal skin. Maybe someday I will move up to prescription Tretinoin. But for today Maelove Moonlight Serum is affordable and effective. I have used it in my skin cycle routine for about a year now. I love it! Maelove has amazing products and their customer service is top notch. I am a MaeLover for life!
I have never used this serum from Maelove but I'm using retinal since five months now and I think is the best ingredient for sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and the serum I use is the A Game 10 from Geek and Gorgeous, it has 1% retinal and I'm seeing great results without any side effects at all. I use it every single night. The best part is that is cheaper than this one you mention in the video, because one bottle with 30ml cost 18.50 euros (it ships to the US). Also, the packaging is better because is an airless pump, so the formula doesn't degrade with the continues contact with air that occurs with droppers. Also this serum is available in the 0.05% retinal (I started with that one). It is also vegan and cruelty free. And no, I'm not a seller or part of this company at all, I just wanted to share this amazing product that it has made a huge difference in mi skin.
Malove has fragrance in it. I never heard of Geek and Gorgeous. Thanks for the info. I use Avene 0.05 retinal and Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum with ginseng and retinal.
Thank you Doctor Maren! I am 64 and as much as I love retinol I have very very sensitive skin - I am going to try this product. Being a 'cruelty free' brand means a lot to me. I am all about ingredients and not the brand necessarily. Finally people with extremely sensitive skin have options. Update: JOY! They now deliver to Canada!
Nice video for your followers 👍 I especially like how you made a split screen in your video showing us how you put on the products you recommend. That was cool. Thank you!💯
I will answer this for you, as she never does: adapeline is more for acne, retinaldehyde is more for people with sensitive skin, looking for anti aging🙂
@@agnesjuhasz7715 I use Adapalene for anti aging. I have no acne and mature sensitive skin, so that’s not necessarily true. Did you know that Tretinoin’s /Retin A was first developed for acne? That’s how they discovered it works on wrinkles too.
Rita S: Since a prescription was once required for Adapalene in the US, it is likely more effective than anything else sold OTC. Other OTC retinoids must undergo two steps to convert into retinaldehyde. So I wouldn’t go backwards if I were you. Plus there are decades of research behind Adapalene and Tretinoin. Check out Dr. Dray’s videos on adapalene/Differin for more clarity.
I used adapalene for months and all it did was dry my skin out no benefits I could see. Then after a week of the Maelove product my skin was not dry and it was plumper and my lines were less noticeable
I used Maelove Moonlight 3 times, but it seemed it ran out so fast all 3 times. I got discouraged and bought Mychelle Renew Retinal~~ bought it 3 times...definitely see result's. The cost is 42.00 1.01 ounce, so its a little more compared. Maybe I'll go back to Maelove, perhaps its a stronger formula like you say and cost balances out. Ive been following Hot & Flashy Angie for the last 5 years on her skincare recommendations~ and wow, she has helped me to look 19 years younger, everyone always guesses me!!!! Thank you, Angie promotes the Maelove Moo light & Glowmaker!
I love my Maelove Moonlight Serum. I use it at night, wait until its fully dry then I slap on a Frownie on my forehead on top of the serum. I've had cystic acne scaring since I was 13 (47 now). I grew to accept the scaring. However when the horizontal forehead lines got bad, it just made everything so much worse. I started this last month and oh my goodness the difference I already see. i love it!
What's a frownie? You put it on your forehead? I like your feedback, too. Can you find Maelove at Marshall's or TJ Maxx? Or just online? (And I've had cystic acne as well with scars and still get cystic blemishes randomly, on my jawline now. I also have old cystic acne scars on my forehead too).
Thank you for this! I have sensitive skin and have wanted to upgrade from my mild Indeed Retinol Reface (which imo is an outstanding starter retinol for folks with super duper sensitive skin)
Thanks for the video. I just started using the Avene RetrinAL cream you recommended and am enjoying it. I will consider the Maelove serum as an alternate due to its reasonable price point. I have used their vitamin C/ferulic acid serum and it was ok. Glad to see more people reviewing Maelove products.
So Maelove Vitamin C is just "ok" ? Which brand are you using now?? I was going to purchase the Maelove but would love to hear your experience with it. Ty!
@@janec5327 I say "ok" because I feel like it discolored significantly within a few weeks, despite me storing the bottle in a light safe area. I know some color change is normal, but I am not having the same issue with SkinCeuticals. I now know there is a trick to preserving a vitamin C serum. Get another brown glass bottle and pour out maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of your new bottle of serum into the 2nd bottle. Store the original bottle in a light safe area and use up the portion in the other bottle. Repeat. This way, you are not exposing all of the contents of the new bottle to light and air each time you use it. Seems to work, so I might give Maelove another try.
Thank you for the Mealove review, l use the glow maker but have been wanting to try the moon light serum & the resurfacing serum but not quite a full experienced user more intermediate. Also love your take on alternating treatment. Would love to see more mealove . I do appreciate how you explain steps. Thank you
Thank you for addressing the Maelove serum! I’m using out the rest of my Avene retrinol .01 cream that I have loved per your recommendation!! I am excited to see the 90-day results. I would love more information on reputable brands that actually have levels of active ingredients that will work with consistency.
please do a video on the sequence of morning and night application of products. For instance, after you clean your face, and which products you would use afterwards. Thank you. I really appreciate your expertise and enthusiasm.
I know you did a retinol vs retinaldehyde video if you could please do a breakdown of ALL retinols (retinoid, retinol, Tretinoin, etc). It's really overwhelming. Also how to layer/combine serums and or product overlaps. For example if you use X you don't really need to use Y. Lastly, do "combo" products work well? I love the idea of less products but unsure if combined ingredient products make sense. Thanks for the recommendations!! ❤❤❤
I believe she's already done a breakdown of retinoids in the video, how to start a retinoid in 5 easy steps - dermatologists talks results without irritation! In theory a combo ingredient product should work (some derms do recommend them like Dr Alexis Stephens) because they've been formulated to work properly/have proper pH balances by the cosmetic formulators/chemists.
Thank you for all of the information and budget picks you share with us, it's really empowering to us as consumers. I was wondering what are your thoughts on Naturium's retinaldehyde serum?
Naturium just came out with a retinal serum that is a little cheaper, but I think has less of a concentration…. Maelove is 0.11% and naturium is 0.05 %. Maybe newbies should use naturium and work up to maelove. I am a seasoned Tretinoin user but still struggle with using it on my neck consistently so I’m thinking of trying retinal on my neck. I can tolerate tret on my chest, but the neck? Nope 😂 no matter how hard I try 😂
I use it and love it! Interesting (in a good way) what you said about being careful about using it on your neck. I specifically bought it for my neck because I use prescription retinol on my face And was afraid to use the prescription retinol on my neck. great reminder about using a moisturizer on top of it! I would consider using it on both my face and neck instead of retinol, but with insurance my retinol is only $10. Since you said that it actually is stronger than retinol I’m going to mix it up a bit and use on my face some days , Alternating with retinol the other days.
@@lisarosenberg5884 absolutely!!! Very gentle on the skin. Becareful, some have said it stained their pillowcase. I never had that issue. I for one never had any issues/irritation with A-Game 10. Thank you for this informative video. Just a quick question, I'm torn between this product maelove moonlight serum and avene retinal. Please help me to make my decision. 😊 have a good day Dr
Perhaps it should be mentioned that if you have any form of “permanent “ make such as micro blading or permanent lipstick retinol will strip the base color and you can end up with a strange color over a bit of time. Continue to use retinols…just avoid any permanent make up areas.
Thanks for the video. Can you do a video on skin oil? Argan oil, squalane oil? Can they be used over retinol? Will the oil affect the efficacy of retinol?
I was interested in the retinaldehyde serum so I went to the website and looked at the ingredient list. The retinaldehyde was about 15th down on the list of ingredients. There are so many other ingredients above it, that I can't even see why they call it retinaldehyde serum. I would have expected it to be one of the very first ingredients. Do you have any idea why this is?
The percentage is actually a good percentage, too high and it will be too irritating. In comparison to ingredients like niacinimide which are effective around max 5% or vitamin c at 10-20%, retinal really is in its sweet spot at a much lower percentage. More isn’t always better! Trust the cosmetic chemists 😊
I just ordered the Fade Away Brightening Serum by Maelove. Any thoughts on that product? I use 0.50% tretinoin at night and thought this would be a nice addition in the morning to help with my years of sun damage. Faithful suncreen wearer now!
I was happy to see Fade Away was back in stock. I just finished my first bottle and loved it. I see some lightening of my sun spots, but anxious to use it another 3-4 months to see full results before I can say for sure.
Thank you. I will try the maelove after I finish up with deferin. Can you tell us if the Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density is a good one to use or waste of money? As I get older I feel my hair is thinning. Thanks!
I'm confused now on which I should try first. What about the RetrinAL Advanced Correcting Serum you've mentioned in past? Do you still use it? It's been out of stock so I haven't ordered. Please educate me :-) Thank you!
I need to try this setup. Will you please educate us on Sculptural. What it is, what it does, how it is administered, how long effects work, and frequency of treatment needed or recommended. Thank you. Be bold and be blessed.
Tha k you very much for sharing this information. My biggest problem though is Turkey neck! Everything I have tried gives minimal results. Is there a product that would actually make a difference or is surgery the only real solution?
Hello. I am new to your channel and I think you’re awesome thank you very much for your knowledge. My question is should I keep my vitamin C and retinol’s in the refrigerator?? Thanks
Thank you, doctor, for the video. There is a concern that retinol and bakuchiol both can damage tear ducts and cause dry eye. What is your opinion on that? Is there any way we can use retinol safely around the eyes?
Super video! Can I start with retinaldehyde of Avene if I haven't proven retinoids before? I don t have sensitive skin or I think so. Thank you for your effort!.

Love your videos, very helpful and informative. What other product would you recommend that's similar to Maelove as unfortunately that doesnt offer shipping to the UK. 🌸💜🌻
Geek & Gorgeous do a retinal serum in a choice of 2 different strengths, at a very reasonable price. They're based in Europe and shipping to the UK is really fast.
I learn as much from you all in the comments as I do watching the video sometimes. Can anyone recommend an effective retinol cream or lotion for my hands and arms? I have some sun spots I'd like to lighten. May need a vit c also. I've been using both on my face for months now and have had good results but my hands and arms still show the sings. Thanks
Thanks sooo much Very important topic I will definitely try it Also, as you asked , what about The ordinary Argireline and interaction with other ingredients I have a lot of friends that think is the best but I am so afraid to try without knowledge Thanks again Doc !
I love your videos I basically buy everything you recommend thanks for sharing But I have a question about chemical sunscreen and moisturizer which one you recommend first
When you apply moisturizer after retinaldehyde serum, do you let the serum dry before applying moisturizer? If so, do you spritz skin first to help absorption or do you apply it when skin is moist with the serum?
I love your videos wish I started a skin creme routine in my 20's not be 50 but was wondering is there any thing to use for broken capillaries have around my nose and notice some on my cheeks today thanks
🍂🍁🍂 I have used/purchased Maelove about 4 times and I like it okay but the dropper application bothers me. I have not used Avene due to the price but I know I would love the application much better. I would love it if you would review the Geek & Gorgeous retinal .10 strength. I love everything about it! I enjoy your content. Long time subscriber.🍂🍁🍂
Hi! Do you think Tretinoin 0.1% prescription helps with hollowness under the eyes? Or do you think it's not strong enough and i will need filler/fat transfer instead? i only just turned 30 but i had hollowness undereyes from using Latisse for a year. I quit it, and now i'm trying to add collagen/fat back into that hollow part of my under eyes with Tretinoin. I know it's effective for finelines and hyperpigmentation but i don't know if it's effective for hollow under eyes/loss of volume. What do you think?
Could you please make a video showing what types of products to use along w a retinol? Like a routine? Idk why it scares me so much idw to mix the wrong chemicals /products
Have eczema prone skin and scared of outbreaks YET this old gal could use help. Leery about retinal in itself and this particular product with other ingredients is very ifie. Maybe I should stick to only using bakichiole (sp?) ??
Thanks for the video!! I would like try it these Malove serum but I’m feel afraid about some ingredients as witch hazel because I read that may no a good option for people with medium skin color. What’s your opinion about it? Thanks 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Hi, I went to buy the product based on your review (& their Vitamin C) but noticed they don't appear to be fragrance free like you mentioned. I saw flower and citrus extracts in the ingredients of the products and some comments mentioned fragrance. I have rosacea so avoid fragrance but am really interested in the products, can you clarify and whether this would be ok for someone with rosacea to use? Example ingredients listed on website: orange peel, bergamot, grapefruit, honeysuckle etc...
I don't understand why you would use the eye cream first. Wouldn't that make the retinal less effective by interfering with the Ph balance? I don't use anything with retinal except sunscreen. Even then, I don't apply sunscreen until 30 mins after applying the retinal (giving it time to neutralize).
I’m thinking of canceling my Curology subscription. This might be a more affordable but affective product. I am used to putting on my moisturizer prior to my tretinoin as it helps prevent irritation. Would that be ok with this serum or just not necessary?
Hi there. This is on my "Next to Purchase" list, but I didn't realise it contains Honeysuckle. Apparently, Honeysuckle has the same chemical composition as parabens and affects the body in the same way. Would you mind sharing your knowledge/thoughts/advice on this?
I am 51, what would be your best advice for what products I could use for dehydrated skin. I drink so much water but I tight around the nose, chin and eye area. My skin is not flakey so I know that it is not dry. I have been using anti aging products.
I get the same issue. My skin is naturally dry and I find that anti aging products like glycolic acid, retinal etc. tend to make my skin feel even drier. What I have found really helpful is the Cerave moisturising cream. As soon as I apply it, I feel like my skin sighs with relief
Yes I brought the cerave restoring night cream and I really like it. Also Paula's choice omega range. I find that Paula's Choice is a fantastic range to use.
Just bought and tried the Maelove Moonlight tonight. I applied it as directed to my face only and it felt sticky but dried quickly, I applied La Rouche Posay double moisturizer and within about 20 minutes felt burning. I looked in the mirror and my face was getting blotchy. I took a cold water washcloth and patted it, the yellow tint was all over the washcloth. I tried to get as much off without doing a total wash and applied a barrier cream to soothe. I have been using another retinol serum previously at night as well as a Vit C serum in the morning so my skin is used to these products. I don't know what to make of this. My skin isn't sensitive normally. Anyone else?
Would love to use Maelove product, but I can not use niacinimide. I have used the Avene product in the past and it is agreeable to my skin. I was just hoping for a more affordable option 😢
How long does each product -Avene vs Maelove- last, for the average, recommended frequency on the face? I’m trying to compare apples to apples on pricing:)
i was excited :c i wanted to try this bc i cant really afford the avene one but im interested in trying retinaldehyde. i cant use products with botanical oils though. orange oil which i see this has and lavender oil really dont agree with my skin at all. does anyone know a different alternative to the avene one thats not as pricey?
On your recommendation I have been using both products alternatively and have seen remarkable results. I can’t thank you enough!

I would love your opinion on Geek & Gorgeous; especially their retinal product. It’s super inexpensive.
Thanks
Great video! Simple routine… I can do this… ready for the day routine video! Thank you!
Great video. Very informative.
Thank you, doctor, for the video. There is a concern that retinol and bakuchiol both can damage tear ducts and cause dry eye. What is your opinion on that? Is there any way we can use retinol safely around the eyes?
Wow thank you doctor Mareen, this product sounds really amazing.
Thank you! Great video! Looking forward on the next alternating day video!
Thinking of adding Altreno (Tretinoin lotion) once a week only to my routine. I use Avene and love retinaldehyde.
Super video! Can I start with retinaldehyde of Avene if I haven't proven retinoids before? I don t have sensitive skin or I think so. Thank you for your effort!.
LRP has a new balm. It looks great. Just arrived Supposed to be good for chemo/ radiation. Maybe that's all the lipikar products?
Lipikar Balm AP+ intense repair moisturizing face & body cream. Triple repair. Eco conscious tube 👍
Can’t wait to order mine . Thank you for your videos . ❤
Love the video!
How would I incorporate the bakuchiol you recommend?
Thanks
You shoulld try the Geek&Georgeous A Game 5 and 10 the best Retinals ever !
I use the Avene now. Which do you like best?
Thanks sooo much Very important topic I will definitely try it Also, as you asked , what about The ordinary Argireline and interaction with other ingredients I have a lot of friends that think is the best but I am so afraid to try without knowledge Thanks again Doc !
I love your videos I basically buy everything you recommend thanks for sharing But I have a question about chemical sunscreen and moisturizer which one you recommend first
Sunscreen should be the last thing you put on.
When you apply moisturizer after retinaldehyde serum, do you let the serum dry before applying moisturizer? If so, do you spritz skin first to help absorption or do you apply it when skin is moist with the serum?
Maelove is a fantastic company with great products.
I love your videos wish I started a skin creme routine in my 20's not be 50 but was wondering is there any thing to use for broken capillaries have around my nose and notice some on my cheeks today thanks
And for us outside Canada and US, what would you recommend instead of moonlight since they don't ship internationally! ♥️
Do these have expiration date?
Would love to know more about the glow maker
Thank you for this video. I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and I’m 34 years old. What are some safe anti aging products I can use while being pregnant?
Congrats! Use backuchiol, but don't use any retinol or retinal products when pregnant.
So excited this is now shipping to Canada 🇨🇦🥰
🍂🍁🍂 I have used/purchased Maelove about 4 times and I like it okay but the dropper application bothers me. I have not used Avene due to the price but I know I would love the application much better.
I would love it if you would review the Geek & Gorgeous retinal .10 strength. I love everything about it! I enjoy your content. Long time subscriber.🍂🍁🍂
Dr. Dray reviewed Geek and Gorgeous. It's great. She also review Beauty of Joseon retinal eye cream. That's very good as well.
I would love for you to do a review on mad hippie products!!
I am wondering why you seal off the eye area. Is it ok to apply to the eye skin as well? Thanks
Do you recommend the maelove moonlight or the avene retrinol ? I want to try one but don't know which one to try
I’m thinking of canceling my Curology subscription. This might be a more affordable but affective product. I am used to putting on my moisturizer prior to my tretinoin as it helps prevent irritation. Would that be ok with this serum or just not necessary?
Peels… chemical peels, ugh. So confused. Do I need this? 54 and former sun worshipper. Thanks for all you do!!
A peels video would be great!
I know she's done a video, how to get glowing skin - anti-aging tip by the budget dermatologist. Not the in-office kind but OTC ones.
Hi there. This is on my "Next to Purchase" list, but I didn't realise it contains Honeysuckle. Apparently, Honeysuckle has the same chemical composition as parabens and affects the body in the same way. Would you mind sharing your knowledge/thoughts/advice on this?
how much? is it a FULL DROPPER amount each time? or a pea sized amount?
I've been using this product for about four months and sadly I really cannot tell any difference. I think I'm going to have to try something else.
Hi I just purchased the glow and moon light I will let you know the result thank you
It’s it good idea to alternate between these two products.I’ve used the avene I like it is pricey though
been using the maelove one since late Jan, almost daily. i think I can already see results with my crow's feet.
I was thinking of trying the Avene RetrinAl 0.1, but i see it contains BHT. Is this not a concern? Can you advise?
Would love to use Maelove product, but I can not use niacinimide. I have used the Avene product in the past and it is agreeable to my skin. I was just hoping for a more affordable option 😢
How long does each product -Avene vs Maelove- last, for the average, recommended frequency on the face? I’m trying to compare apples to apples on pricing:)
Please, can you help by making a video on how to use the ordinary peeling solution. Thanks!
You mentioned the neck skin. I'd love to see a video on neck skin care
I just love your videos thanks so much
What do you feel about the brand Medik8 , their retinaldehyde?
i was excited :c i wanted to try this bc i cant really afford the avene one but im interested in trying retinaldehyde. i cant use products with botanical oils though. orange oil which i see this has and lavender oil really dont agree with my skin at all. does anyone know a different alternative to the avene one thats not as pricey?
Which carries the strength, the Maelove or the Avene?
I wonder if I can use 1 day with adapalene & other days with rentinaldahyde to get benefits in both ?
can you do a video on growth factors
Absolutely. I hope she does.
Can I use Maelove Fade Away with this retinaldehyde?
Thanks for video. Very informative as always.
I use Geek & Gorgeous A-Game 0.1% Incredibly cheap and works very fine on my skin.
Do you order other items for the free shipping? If not and you are in the US, how much was shipping?
