Absolutely impressive tank. That green torch is insane. I hope mine looks like that soon. I think my new tank build has to mature. I have been using aqua forest too and love that stuff.
Picture perfect reef. I’m not sure on algae other than it usually appears when there’s an excess of something until the ecosystems balance’s it out. Where are your core 9 parameters? Your mixed reef is so nice I would be hesitant to rock the boat too much. 👍🏾
Thanks National Reefing! Yeah my guess is something is out of balance. My core params have not changed other than my Nitrates and phosphate raised slightly when treating bryopsis with Fluconozole. I had to remove my ATS and my levels raised slightly. By slightly I mean 7ppm Nitrate and .05 Phosphate which is still relatively low. I agree and will not rock the boat. This bit of algae has had Zero affect on coral.
Your tank is stunning! I think that picture of the green stuff that you flashed very quickly is the same stuff growing on my sandbed. And I too are not familiar with it. I looked at it under scope and I still can't ID it. It's a fine filamentous algae. Smaller than green hair and not the same as spirulina or any other cyano. It's a mystery and hopefully just seasonal.
Thanks so much Ms. Reefer Fox. I too looked at it under my 12 dollar microscope thinking my Dino was re appearing. Under the cheap microscope just looked like a bunch of blobs. lol.
Thanks Pelphrey. Calcium Reactor is a bit intimidating since I've never run one. I think it will be my best option but still undecided and kind of hard to drop that much cash even though I know it will pay for itself over several years of not having to buy supplements.
Wow what a amazing system thanks for sharing buddy absolutely stunning....conch snails may help with your sandbed I have 5 in mine they do a great job 👍
Thank you SYT!!! I currently have 2 conchs, a few Nassarius snails and a sand sifting star. I probably should re supply my clean up crew. Over the last year i've lost a bit. Thanks for watching
Thanks Brother! Still would like to pick your brain a bit more about the Calcium Reactor. I know you tried a top of the line setup and promptly sold it all. I'll hit you up before I decide to pull the trigger.
Thanks Tee!!! Yeah I heard Billy Pipes mention on a live stream that you were dealing with the same problem. Good luck to both of us. Thanks for stopping by.
Tank looks great Phil. I get something similar on the sand and I believe it is a form of coralline algae, possibly caused by precipitation of excess 2 part.
Thanks Dave. Other than the algae being an eye sore to me, its not really effecting anything, so I will not do anything to drastic. It should work itself out.
Thanks WestCoast. I wanna make the switch over to Calcium Reactor. Your tank is doing amazing and I know I've heard you say things really took a turn for the good when you implemented the Calcium Reactor on your system.
Thanks 5238. I have a sand sifting star, fighting conchs and several Nas snails. Trying to avoid the goby as I don't want him covering up my sand bed corals. Been there before.
Absolutely breathtaking tank , but that /cyano /diatom hybrid algae is a pain in the arse. Cut the lights back if you can and dose bacteria daily for 5 days .. filter floss , carbon and water changes , siphoning all your best friend at the moment, your tank is beyond words though!! Great job Phil
I’ve ran the same reactor with the same kamorer pump n carbon doser. Perfect set up. I’ll be repeating that set up on my little build I’m doing when the dosing becomes to much
Thanks Billy. It took me a little while to dial in the flow so everything was happy. I tried the standing wave and the LPS HATED it!!!! Also tried both pumps on random and same thing the LPS were not happy! I wound up using the built in LTC mode from the gyres automatic settings. It provides varied random flow and changes throughout the day. Thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to the hobby. I've been keeping reef tanks for 25 years. Hope you like it as much as I do. My algae problem wound up being Green Cyano. Since this video all is well. Thanks for stopping by.
That's what I thought. I tried CyanoRX a few weeks back. Iit's like chemiclean and it didn't touch it. Trying another treatment. Started yesterday. Appreciate you stopping by.
Tank has come along very nicely Phil. Love the minimal scape.
Thanks Ash. It's been a battle but I think I'm winning. For now at least. lol
Tank looking awesome Phil
Thank you
Absolutely impressive tank. That green torch is insane. I hope mine looks like that soon. I think my new tank build has to mature. I have been using aqua forest too and love that stuff.
Thanks Moe. My tank really started to thrive at about the 1 year mark. The first year was full of problems but have calmed down.

Thank you Arturas. Appreciate it very much.
Calcium reactor time! Tank looks great!!

Thanks for stopping by Rico and for sharing your knowledge. I have learned a lot from your live streams.
Tank Looks Beautiful. Whatever your doing, keep it up! I have a RSM 500s and mine doesn't look close to as Great as your does!
Thanks David. Appreciate the kind words and thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful
Thanks Brother! Still would like to pick your brain a bit more about the Calcium Reactor. I know you tried a top of the line setup and promptly sold it all. I'll hit you up before I decide to pull the trigger.
your tank look real good I'm going through the same problem
Thanks Tee!!! Yeah I heard Billy Pipes mention on a live stream that you were dealing with the same problem. Good luck to both of us. Thanks for stopping by.

Amazing tank!
Thanks Eduardo
Looks awesome Phil 👌🏾👍🏾 nice job...I’m also adding the kamoer pump to my reactor...I figure I’ll try it out heard good things about it.
Thanks WestCoast. I wanna make the switch over to Calcium Reactor. Your tank is doing amazing and I know I've heard you say things really took a turn for the good when you implemented the Calcium Reactor on your system.
You’ll love the 612
Thanks Brian. I saw you saying on one of the live streams that you picked up a Calcium Reactor. Wish the upfront cost wasn't so HIGH
I actually got the 618/tank and carbon doser regulator on a Facebook. Buy sell trade. For 600 bucks
Tank looks amazing. Maybe a sand sifting goby might help with the algae.
Thanks 5238. I have a sand sifting star, fighting conchs and several Nas snails. Trying to avoid the goby as I don't want him covering up my sand bed corals. Been there before.

You are so sweet Lisa. Thank you for the tips on what worked for you.
Your tank looks really nice! Love it.
Thanks for watching Marc and helping me. Really enjoy the FB group and your live streams and videos.

Thanks Retro. I wanna make the switch really bad but having a hard time opening my wallet. lol
I have no idea what that algae is. Your Reef is looking awesome 👍 Good luck beating it.
Thanks Ktown. I'm sure it will work itself out. Just gotta be patient.
Wow!
Hey Gil. Thanks for stopping by. Can't wait to see you up and running again with your Amazing build.
Sorry your going through issues with the tank, but it is still absolutely beautiful
Thanks so much Tina
Flow is looking perfect. No clue what the algae is

I'm sorry I only have 5 months in the hobie and I still have a lot to learn.
Welcome to the hobby. I've been keeping reef tanks for 25 years. Hope you like it as much as I do. My algae problem wound up being Green Cyano. Since this video all is well. Thanks for stopping by.
honestly i love it but it costs a lot of money.
It is a green cyano.

@@Reefkpr1 Use chemiclean. It works.
@@hanthi9463 Did another treatment and Its gone. Thanks so much!!!!!
So... what treatment did you use? By the way.. gorgeous tank! :) Just subscribed.
@@traianboala3798 Cyano RX. Treated twice and have not seen it since. Everything is great now. Thanks for the sub and kind words.
😍😍
Thanks for watching TMG. Stop slacking off on your amazing tank. I heard you mention on a live stream that you've been lazy. Knock it off. lol
Hahaha I know Phil , having a hard time locking in alk again .jaebo doser is trash . Lol been working a lot but I won’t let you down!
