Wow PHIL!! You would never know what kind of troubles you had with this tank... absolutely stunning!!! BAG OF SKITTLES for sure!!! Loveeo loveee your Euphyilla Garden.. that bubble bounce 😍😍 looks so balanced with your choice of placements.. thank you for sharing. Love your little piece of the ocean
Thats my boy Phil! Love this tank and setup. I have been jealous for a long time now and it still makes me jealous but happy that you have it running. Everyone goes through ups and downs in this hobby but look what you have accomplished! Stay Reefing Phil and High 5! Mel
Thanks Mike! Congrats on the Profilux. Amazing WIN! If you use the GHL doser keep your eye on the plastic head covers. I've broke a bunch under normal use.
@@MikeLemming I love my Apex. Never tried the GHL controller but I use the GHL 2.1 doser and its very well built. Only trouble I've had is with the blue plastic caps that cover the roller heads. Small bits of broken plastic causing the rollers to jam.
@@MikeLemming probably not. It's not like they sponsered you. It was a giveaway and you won. Should be able to do whatever you want with it. Awesome win. Congrats.
Those colors! I look forward to watching the calcium reactor video. It’s something I’ve always thought of doing, slightly intimidating. Perhaps when I upgrade.
Thanks Nate. The Calcium Reactor looks and sounds intimidating but honestly it has been easier than using a dosing pump. Hopefully I'll be able to explain it well in the upcoming video.
The tank literally loks AMAZING AF Phil!!!! I love how you were able to keep so many types of corals and truly make a mixed reef. I actually had to move my softies out because they refused to do perfectly in my 350! I'm REALLLY tempted to try it again TBH!
Thanks Tristian!!!! It has been a challenge flow wise to keep everything happy. My sticks want more flow and my LPS and softies want less. I guess that's why they say a mixed reef is the most challenging.
Reefkpr - they always are in that first year. Seriously man, beautiful tank. You have color coordinated it to perfection. Do you have a video that explains more about the system? Like the equipment and dosing. I see you have a CaRx. Were you have issues dialing it in on that first year? Or did you have a doser?
@@Reefahholic So much to talk about. I just started a build thread on R2R user... Scubabum In a nutshell I ran Aquaforest up until 2 months ago and switched to a calcium reactor. Use a Rain 2 Alage turf scrubber for nutrient control and that's about it. Hit me up on R2R anytime and I'm always willing to answer questions and talk about reef tanks. Been following your research on RTN and STN, very interesting stuff.
Reefkpr - Awesome man, so very simple before the CaRx was added. Are you dosing trace or aminos? Appreciate you following my channel as I enjoy making the videos when I have time. Hey Phil. I'm still amazed at how far this tank is come since all the trouble you had. It looks amazing now. Good to see you're enjoying the calcium reactor
Thanks Dave. You're one of the few that remembers the rough start. Definitely a challenge. Honestly I believe I went to fast using the Dry Pukani even after Muratic acid and bleach. Time is your friend.
Wow Phil, you could charge admission to guests to look at this tank - it’s spectacular! I saw the Pectinia - I wonder if it’s flow causing the flesh to pull back from the skeleton tips...🤷♀️
Ah Thanks Reefgrrl. The Pectinia has me baffled. It was doing great for over 6 months and started to recede. I moved it under that ledge, lower light, lower flow. Hopefully it recovers. I really Love that piece.
Yes It would fit in the cabinet. You might have to use a 5lb co2 tank . All of my Electronic controllers are in my cabinet so I did not have enough room.
@@zero-ol2nt The stock gate valve worked fine for about a 1 1/2 years then started requiring constant tuning. Even after taking the valve apart and cleaning. The Red Sea Gate valve is very touchy and sometimes hard to dial in. I used a Spears Gate valve and it's much easier to tune. I also built a manifold so I could run my Algae turf scrubber and carbon reactor without the addition of multiple pumps.
@@Reefkpr1 I appreciate the response. Yea I was gonna go with the 2 part dosing method but honestly after doing the research the calcium reactor just makes more sense to me. More practical in my opinion. The cost is more but I plan on saving and just going straight to the calcium reactor. Yea you might have to buy more equipment but it all works together better plus just being able to dump your media in for calcium then adding some magnesium mixed in seems a lot more practical. I do like how you added acropower to your doser though.
Looks great! With your calcium reactor, do you do anything to manage the lower ph that comes with it (eg use kalwasser, or c02 scrubber etc).. Or do you just let the ph be whatever it is.
Honestly I've never really cared much about PH.I monitor but never chase. I do run my skimmer line outside. With the addition of the Reactor I'm still hitting 8.23 PH during the day and 8 PH at night. Have hardly noticed a difference. Very slight drop.
Looks like you draw water from ato to run the calcium reactor? Correct me if i am wrong, ive seen ppl running their calcium reactor directly feeding from tank water
LOL!!!! I didn't even think about it appearing that way. NO the Kamoer is just siting on top of my ATO. The Kamoer is fed directly from a line coming from the tank water. Thanks for watching.
Awesome tank btw and thanks for the clarification. I am still thinking on going this route or kalkwasser reactor since i dont have too many corals and my tank is only about 60g in water volume. Any advice for me?
