    So my friend bought a new Nano S Plus, hasn't set it up yet. She only has a couple coins, and offered to give me her Nano S Plus and I would give her my old Nano S, as she only has a couple coins, whereas I have many, and the Nano S Plus has way more storage. I understand from this video that I could set her Nano S Plus up with my own 24-word recovery phrase, and it will transfer my cryptos to that new device. Does that include apps on top of it, like HashPack wallet for Hedera? And what happens to the old device? Would she be able to use it for her own coins, or how exactly would it work if my friend and I wanted to just swipe ledger devices? Thanks for your help!

    What if you want to use a new recovery phase and not your old private key, because your old private key may have been compromised?
    How’s this done and will you now have 2 private keys one on each ledger?

      in crypto you cannot "undo" or revoke private keys. once they're out everbody who gets them into his or her hands has full control. if you are lucky and no one touched the coins yet you can setup an entirely new wallet and send all coins from the old wallet to the new wallet. unless you're sure that your hardware wallet supports multiple devices it's probably best to purchase another hardware wallet and set it up on a different computer, then do the transfer, i.e. create receiving addresses on new setup and send the coins from old setup

      Hi, A Ledger device is checked for its authenticity every time it accesses the Manager in Ledger Live or when it goes through the 'Genuine Check' during the onboarding process. As long as you have set your own PIN, and generated your recovery phrase yourself, your previous Ledger device is safe.
      For your new device, if you enter your existing 24-word recovery phrase, it'll give you access to the same accounts. If you set it up as a new device, it'll generate a new 24-word recovery phrase and hence will create new accounts. This is your choice as per your specific requirements.

    If you set up your new ledger in this way, does the new ledger have the same wallet/wallets as the original ledger did? For example, would my ETH wallet address be the same one that I had under the other ledger?

    • @7pdude
      @7pdude 18 дней назад

      the 12/24 words generate an exact clone of your original master key. all wallets for all coins follow a certain calculating method based solely on this one master key. so as long as you have your words you're good. however what's not saved or represented by the words is which wallets you have actually used in the past and how many addresses you have created for each coin. this information is only stored on the device / computer where ledger live (the app that talks to the usb stick) was originally installed. if you don't have access to this setup anymore you more or less have to go through each and every possible coin, create a "few" addresses and see if there are actually still any coins there. it's like having a key to hundreds of rooms but you cannot remember if there's still something in these rooms so you have to go and look for yourself. hard to say how many addresses you have to create since you might have received coins on the first 3 addresses but already spent the amounts that were on the first 2. so you'd find an empty room (no coins) for the first two but then on thrid there's still something. for the future: keep a backup of the ledger live app data, especially the app.json file

      Hi 👋 it's not possible to have the same receiving address with a new seed phrase as private keys to your existing account are linked to your existing 24 seed phrase. Setting up your device with a new seed phrase will not let access your existing account.
      You'll need to unstake your assets > Send them to exchange > Reset the device and set up with a new seed phrase > Add new accounts > Send your assets back to this new account. Detailed instructions here 👇🏻

    If I migrate Nano S to Nano X, does the address also go with it? I'm planning to connect my Nano S to metamask. When my Nano X arrive from mail, I'll migrate everything from Nano S to my new Nano X. Will the address be the same ?

    • @Ledger
      @Ledger  Год назад +1

      Hey Michael - yes, because you're technically cloning your private keys to your new device, you'll end up with the exact same addresses for all your Ledger accounts.
      Since you mentioned Metamask, please note that while it's perfectly safe to connect your Ledger account to Metamask, connecting your account does not require your 24-word recovery phrase. In fact, you should never import (type) your Ledger 24-word recovery phrase into Metamask, this would defeat the purpose of having a Ledger device.
      Hope this makes sense but please don't hesitate if you need anything else!

    I kinda pity Ledger support.
    24 words make a seed that generates all the crypto secrets for the wallet. If your 24 words are compromised you need move your crypto out to a different wallet (withdraw to another wallet). Either another Ledger device with a different 24 words or an exchange wallet. You will incur network fees. You could do this with a single Ledger device but its much more risky because you need to muck about with two sets of 24 words.one set for the new wallets and one set for the old wallets. You still need to do a crypto withdraw from the old wallets to the new wallets and pay network fees.

      @Ledger  Год назад

      > Do you guys have a video explaining what it means having more than one account of the same coins on the ledger live?
      We do not have a tutorial on this but we can explain this in detail. Let's say you have 3 ETH accounts A, B and C. Account A is linked to Nano S (1), Account B is linked to Nano S (2) and account C is linked to Nano S plus.
      Since you want to move all your ETH from Account A and B to account C. You'll need to connect Ledger Nano S plus > Click on receive > Select Account C > and copy the receiving address. Then you connect your Ledger Nano S (1) > Click on send > Select account A > paste the receiving address > Send your funds to account C.
      Then you connect your Ledger Nano S (2) > Click on Send > Select account B > paste the receiving address > Send your funds. Now if you select account A instead of account B when Ledger Nano S (2) is connected, then you'll get the error message Something Went Wrong. You'll need to select the correct device that was used to create that account in order to access and manage it.
      We hope this clarifies.

    I tried migrating my crypto from one Ledger device to another, but I think I accidentally sent it to the moon instead. Watch out, aliens!" 😂👽🌕

    Great work Icoud__boss. Exposing spineless scum shows superior character. Nothing irks me more than an already-rich person feeding off of poor people, like a DISGUSTING over-sized leach! Makes me sick every time man. Good job showing your younger audience what a financial predator is. Keep it up".;;❤
