WARNING:: When entering your secret pass phrase, make sure you're fully awake, wearing your glasses, and have plenty of light. The letters are so small it's very easy to make a mistake. The letters i and l look almost identical unless you're using a magnifying glass. Same with a few other letters. Otherwise, the process is pretty simple. CryptoDad is the best explainer on RUclips and we should all be greatful he's here to guide us.
You’re something else - a real treasure in the crypto space 🤜🏼
He’s a life savor. God bless you 🙏. I wish you the very best with your health going forward. Cheers
Sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid lost my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Coleman Gael instablaster ;)
@Juelz Finley Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Juelz Finley it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass :D
Ledger is the Best.
Rex, thank you very much for your comprehensive, step-by-step instructions. I couldn't imagine I learned IT related knowledge from a grandfather-grade person. Your patience in detailing everything makes me feel warm.
You're the best! Thanks for all your help🙌🙌🙌🤩🤩🤩
Thank you so much ... it worked. Had a horrible few hours when I got down to my last ' PIN attempt ' on my main wallet ....now set up mirror wallet. HUGE relief !! Thanks again Rex
These basics in cryto wallet security is saving my life. You are a legend!!! These videos need to go viral.
Long time subscriber. The timing could not have been better. I was scanning your previous videos on backing up the Ledger wallet. Thank you.
Same. The timing. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I now have a backup Ledger and have tested it.
Great video, excellent information. However, anyone with enough experience with web-services and technology should be aware that the Ledger Live interface and either of these devices are just like any other services...Very likely going to be an absolute pain in the neck in 10-15 years. My Nano S sat for 6 months. I brought it out to move some coins and server error after server error, USB cable changing, USB drive changing, firmware update and several steps to verify the firmware verification codes...I finally got in. Can you honestly imagine what it would be like to store you Nano for 10-15 years and plug in in to the server THEN?? If they even use USB connections LOL and BlueTooth in the year 2036...I don't know. I have a Nano S and Nano X and after this experience they both feel like VHS players to me. Doomed to become unusable within several years. Change my mind! Update: Now that I updated my Firmware I have to re-install my apps! LOL, there's no way these are built for the future.
eth paper wallet? or erc20 paper wallet? why bother with ledgers at all humph!
I have just successful mirrored my devices thanks to you! I cannot thank you enough. I am at peace knowing my passphase actually works - I was always abit paranoid if I wrote it down correctly.
Thank you for this step-by-step easy to understand tutorial
Finally. This put me over the hump on setting up the Backup Pack. Just assume the second X is the S in the Backup Pack! :-) You da man Rex!!!!
Thank you CryptoDad. I look to you when I need help with my crypto. I appreciate you and all you do ❤️
Fantastic tutorial. Put me at ease having a backup device and knowing my recovery phases work. Happy holidays to you and the family. 🎉
Super CryptoDad. Thanks a ton for this video.
I got my back up Ledger thanks to your black friday special...what I need is a back up BMW; 2021 please. See ya at 1pm Hawaii time.
TY, Well done, very helpful!!
You're welcome!
thanks for the video mate. had no idea that we would be charged fees when we transfer crypto to the cold wallet! when we confirmed to transfer our exchange message said that they would be covered, so I guess Ledger charged us!
Great videos, very helpful to new Ledger users. Thanks
why not just keep the second device in the package and do all the set up stuff only after you lose the first device?
whaats the advantage of setting the second one up right away?
saved this video. Hoping ill never have to refer back to it but you never know...
Thanks! I didn't even know you could do that!!
You can do that with every wallet trezor 1 included
Exactly the video I was looking for.. thanks a lot ❤
Very helpful video. Thank you.
An amazing channel with high value content. Thanks!
QUESTION: Once a Mirrored ledger has been created and stored away, will it sync automatically with all the changes you make on the Ledger you use everyday?
Yes, if you review the video starting at around 7:30 he goes into this.
Hi Dad,
I have a ledger S. I would like to get a ledger X so I can add more crypto. Can I just get the X and set up mirroring on that? Will my crypto from the S automatically be on the X via ledger live?
Thank you
Great explanation 👏👏👏👏👍 thank you so much 😉
Your videos are the best out there, Thanks for your efforts in our behalf. Much Appreciated !

Glad to help
@@CryptoDad Hi Rex. I'd be grateful for your help please! I have both a Nano X and a Nano S. I've made a mistake somewhere a long the line, as ive set them up with different `recovery phrases` when i wanted to use one as a backup for the other. I dont know which one is the Go-to Ledger .the first one i set up, but ihave used both whilst connected to my Pc when using Ledger Live..! Is it safe just to choose one of them , and re-set it , in other words to setup as a new device..? Or should i restore one of them? I've contacted leger but they havent helped. I'd be very grateful if you please could advise as im worried about losing all my cryoto. I have btc and etherium. I really appreciate your help. Thanks. Mike.
The main point of emphasis I have with negative externalities is the possibility of a ledger glitch with your device. The ideas of coffee spilling and others are possible but I think a data misconfiguration is more probable.
My main question is: Say the ledger device encounters some system type glitch /error and you can’t use the physical device? Say the device doesn’t turn on or part of the screen is glitched... how can you recover your coins if that occurs? 24 word recovery phrase the solution? Buy a new device and input the 24 words from the broken/glitched ledger?
The last sentence in your comment above is correct! As long as you have your original seed phrase, you can repopulate the same wallet on a new Ledger device. Theoretically, you could repopulate the wallet on any BIP39 wallet platform, which includes more wallet manufacturers than Ledger. However, I've never actually tested this myself. That's what I've read about the BIP39 protocol, which is the cryptocurrency standard that the seed phrase system is based on.
I hope you see this and you are safe, but you have shown all of your recovery words when holding up the paper!
Pretty sure he would have filled with fake words so thieves would waste their time. It's what i would do to waste the time of scammers. Let them think it's possible but each scammer would waste a lot of time trying.
Love the tips, thanks Daddio!
you are doing a great job! Thank you . Keep going .
Thanks for this! This was very helpful, much appreciated.
Try synackhacks on IG he's well known and good...i got mine done through his skills and guidance
Great video. My only question is, once I've made the backup nano, how do I keep it up to date with the primary drive as crypto is bought and sold and recorded on the primary drive?
Thanks
Any new crypto‘s that you add to the primary device will automatically be on the secondary device as soon as you install the app. In other words if you decide to add stellar on your primary device and create a wallet and account, if you lose your primary and pull out the back up, all you need to do is install the stellar app on the back up and it will automatically recognize the accounts.
It’s also a good idea to periodically pull out the back up device and make sure it’s up-to-date with all the firmware. You could do that maybe once or twice a year.
Great hint, as always! Thank you.👍🏻
You rock man! My ledger Nano S just came in. But my ledger nano x will still be one more week as it is back-ordered. I assume it is better to put everything on the ledger x first, then the s last? Or, does it matter?
You actually "get right to it" unlike every other you tuber that has a 90 second intro followed by hit that subscribe hit that bell leave a comment bla bla bla bla bla makes me want to punch. Just excellent, actual content, not a bunch of click bait. btw, yes I hit subscribe, I hit that bell and I hit that like button and I'm leaving a comment. :D
I watch the entirety of your videos and appreciate that you put all that at the end.
ok thanks for the video but I'm unsure what happens when my backup is at location x and I'm using my primary, how does the secondary refresh the transaction data?
Hey dad thanks for the tips !
You the best, thank you!
Your channel is kickass.
How does the restore work technically? How did it know all your blockchain keys? especially if the ledger never sends your keys online? How did the new device know what all your old stuff was on your old device?
You are a great help, your steps are so clearly explained, a real blessing, thank you, thank you
Thank you Cryptodad. I learned a lot from your videos.
One question is that can i use a nano s to mirror a nano x?
Just happen to have a new nano s lying around. Thanks again
Thanks dad
Was very informative. Thank you!
Thank you!
Very helpful video. Quick question - When trying to make an identical backup of a Ledger Nano X, do I need to install all of the ERC20 apps onto the new backup device, or do I just need to install the Ethereum app? Thanks much!
Thank you for the tutorial. Very useful!
Very clear. Thank you.
When you first get the ledger, i saw another video saying battery 🔋 is flat, so he plugged 🔌 into computer 🖥, i noticed when you first do seed phrase etc, yours is not plugged in, so question is do we charge ledger first then unplug it to do seed and pin. 👍
You can charge it up ahead of time, or you can have it plugged in while you are doing this. Totally up to you.
great video. clear and informative.
Can I have Mirror Backup on different devices. For example - First device Ledger and second one Trezor?
thanks, exactly the info I was wanting.
When you restore a new recovery seed on a new Ledger does it destroy the old one?
Really great content. Thank you for this.
Really crypto dad
Hello, tks a lot 🙏 just a question, newbie here.. What happens if the other ledger device is smaller on apps size supported?
Hi Rex, Thanks smooch for all your videos... so clearly explained and practically shown.
I have a question for you.. I have done exactly what you have shown.. backed up a NanoX to a NanoS.. also verified the NanoS backup with a 'receive assets" test and successfully generated a new address. However, if I try and create a new account in LedgerLIve from the NanoS it always fails.. SO, I'm guessing that you cannot have the same account (same seed) created in LedgerLive? (just have the one account that will work on both devices)? ... this caused me to think that the backup had no worked as I couldn't load the account... but when I saw you do the "receive' test it worked. Thanks again
Hi Rex great content. Just wondering how to check if the mirror ledger device is genuine. The original device setup shows if device is genuine how do we check second device. Cheers.
I now have a Nano S and I have just ordered a Nano S Plus. I plan to use the Nano S Plus as Primary and keep the old Nano S as Backup. If done correctly I assume all the send/receive wallet addresses will remain the same for both devices.....Is this a correct assumption?
Hi friend...good, informative video. Glad this one is in your video library. Trust all is well :)
bro clear that wallet if its really from that key, you published every one of the 24 words
Thanks, I was going to tell him the same thing!!
I really wonder what happened to that wallet lol
I am sure he knew better, he even mentioned in the video not to show the words to anyone.
Every time he "shows" the 24 word recovery phrase in his videos, it is just a dummy phrase. He confirmed that in another video :)

Thank you for the great vid. I learned something :-)
Thanks Rex, is it the same deal with Trezor One?
Hi. Thank you for your video. If I already have a Nano X can I buy Nano S and use it as a back up and do a Restore with the same recovery phrase?
hello Sir, can you make a video how we can create a new wallet address on ledger for metamask ? i want to keep my ledger with phrases but i would like to have another wallet address is that possible ?
Nice vid. Thank you very much
How is the backup wallet, updated ?
nice video , you have my 👍 , how about a back up with different hardware wallets brand ?,,.
Brilliant again!
Thanks
Thank you for the good video.
Can you clone a Ledger Nano X and a Trezor T model together to sync your balances ? Allowing my family member to use the Trezor T model while I use Ledger Nano X.
And another question can you have a backup or second computer with one ledger? So look with two ledger lives on different computers to one ledger (s) for example?
Thank u👀
I just purchased a ledger nano-x and I am very slowing transferring some of my cryptos to it from Exodus.
Quest: What do you gys think about Exodus wallet?
I bought a Ledger Nano X as my primary. However, I ordered a NANO S as backup. (Should I use only another NANO X as backup and return the NANO S ?)
X bridging X
One more excellent, crystal-clear video, thanks. One question I have is what happens if on the original ledger we had an Ada account linked and staked in yioroi ? Would the mirroring process be transparent in the use of the two h/w wallets (i.e could we subsequently access the Yioroi wallet with either ledger in an identical way)?
and your activity history is gone?
I am extremely new and trying to understand the crypto ecosystem:
My current understanding
Electronic wallet hold the key to the account balances but does not store the balance
The balance is stored somewhere out on the internet in multiple locations.
To use my crypto I need the wallet which unlocks my crypto chain of data, then i need an exchange account, to transfer some crypto from my chain to the exchange to be sent to someone else’s exchange account.
This is very confusing to me but still drawing a picture of the ecosystem in my head.
A few questions:
If someone has my ledger can they access my crypto without my password to the ledger?
Please post more videos describing the ecosystem, where we have to be careful of dangers, how do we purchase something with a seller that accepts crypto, how do we purchase something with a seller that only accepts fiat currency, what if we need cash for spending money, how do we get back from crypto ro cash say to go to the store etc.
Thank you
Thanks for the detail Crypto Dad! good info. I'm thinking as you use your primary device for purchases/sells that occasionally you some how have to sync that data to your backup. Is that documented somewhere? Is there a mirroring app where you can have both plugged in as you trade/buy/sell so that the transactions get written to both? Any thoughts on that? Just curious. Thanks again!
Money too
Thank you so much. Can i use Also different Ledger S and X ?
Thanks Rex. I was actually reviewing your vid to transfer from the Ledger Nano S to the (what was then) the new Ledger Nano X. It seems like this is easier than the transfer vid you did before. Am I right about that or is it the same process? Many thanks in advance.
If I have crypto on a nano S but just purchased a nano X…. Can I just back up my s onto my x and then add more crypto from there?
Thank you excellent explanation. Am I correct in thinking that creating a mirror image is like getting a spare set of keys cut for your house? Your coins are stored on the block chain and your keys are stored on your nano x. So by creating a "spare" set of the keys you can always get access to you coins on the block chain, correct?. This is why your accounts stay sync'd because they are on the block chain and either one of the mirrod'd nano x's can get you access to the block chain, is my analargy correct?.thanks
I just want to be clear! If I break my Ledger Nano - I can order another one and use the recovery phrase on that new one right?
that is correct!
So the public address for BTC in Ledger1 will be the same public address on Ledger2 ?
thx
Is it possible to do a mirror backup of ledger S to ledger X.
Thanks for the information very helpfull, what if i decide to upgrade My ledger nano S for a new ledger nano x or plus? I just enter the recovery pharse on the new device and ready? Thanks in advance
Yes, the 24 word back up phrase will work with any of the ledger devices
stupid question, but say you back up your ledger nano x, then put the backup away, but keep adding new crypto onto your first, original device...wouldn't then the backup device have less private keys on it as time goes on?
i have my back up phrase, any type of ledger will do??
