President Bola Tinubu has been facing heavy criticism for his economic reforms. Though the government is borrowing more money to tackle this crisis, its priorities seem to be misplaced. Nigeria is on an airport building spree. But the most important element stands missing from its airports: the passengers! Building of airports in a country where 80% (190m peeople) are poor & financially unstable is clearly got nothing to do with economic sense. 85% of Nigerians cannot afford to fly in aircrafts & will NEVER do so in their lifetimes. It's about corruption, simple. The governors/politicians use these huge projects to siphon/steal money cos that't the way they can "approve" or "borrow" funds which they will shatre with the contractors. Everything in Nigeria revolves around corruption, corruption & more corruption.
Not to forget the unholy trinity of ill-informed, expedient, reactionary ineptitude. They’re quite simply out of their depth, except when it comes to spending - *_on themselves._* 🤷♂️

In Abia State, under Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, the entire millions of dollars budgeted for the airport was completely embezzled. People are desperately still searching to find where the so-called "International" Airport is located, and nobody has been able to find it. Yep! Missing International Airport?

I thought you were going to say a good road network. What does an unproductive country have to export? You need to have money to pay for imports through the ports but a good road infrastructure promotes productivity and wealth creation.

ATM most stuff that are imported into Nigeria comes through Lagos, then is has to be trucked to their final destination, thereby increasing the cost of doing business. But if every state that has the requirement to have a sea port has at least 2 or more ports, it will be cheaper to get the goods to the final destination, and jobs will be created too.

Most of these airports are owned by various state governments.
Their are 3 tiers of government in Nigeria, we have the federal government and the state governments. The states are 36 in number with each of them having a government which is led by an elected governor. The states are independent to some extent because they have state budget and state parliament in all of the 36 states. So, It is not a fault of president Tinubu that some of the state decide to built airports. Tinubu does not even have the power to tell the state what to do with their budget.

These 3 Airports are Port Harcourt International Airport, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja..
These cities are where the bulk of Nigerian Economic Activities take place..
You are wrong. Aminu Kano Airport, Kano is far busier than Port Harcourt and Kano was the first city in Nigeria to have a plane land in it. Go check your records

As a Nigerian, I can tell you that the airport in Zamfara is purely political. There is no international trade activities in that state to warrant an airport. The Northern Hausa/Fulani Muslims who setup a Sharia in that far North, want to have their own airport cause they felt left out since other regions have thriving airports. But there is absolutely nothing to warrant it. Even worse, the state is purely dependent on federal allocations to to function.
This is not an issue of Hausa/Fulani, Islam or Sharia but your deep hatred, intolerance & Islamophobia won't ever allow you think straight or contribute meaningfully to any discourse. It is about the misplacement of priorities by our thieving political class. Shame on you man! Shame

What an intentional mistake which the indign percentage of the people that travel out of Nigeria is less than 5% compared to other state of 30%. This is true currently but in medium to long term these airports may well become revenue generators especially if the dangote refinery starts producing low cost jet fuel. This will reduce cost of operating and reduce air fares significantly. This boost domestic air schedules. So your opinion is only a short term view.
