I also had a terrible experience at Cairo Airport in the year 2020.
I booked an Egyptian Airline from UAE to Ivory Coast. On getting to Cairo airport for transit, I was told that the flight from Egypt to Abidjan in ivory coast has been cancelled.
They now gave me 2 options. Is either they take me back to UAE or Nigeria (since I'm a Nigerian) and without any refund or compensation.
The most terrible part is that they only speak Arabic, no English. The Nigerian in me came out, and it was tug of war until their head of immigration invited me to their office.
To cut the long story short, I later boarded the plane going to Ghana, from Ghana, I took a car to Ivory Coast (more than a day journey).
It was a terrible experience. Ever since then, I never fly the Egyptian airline again.

Sir I am an African American male and I went to Egypt on vacation last year. I had a similar terrible racist experience in their airport. First they acosted me after I showed my American passport and they insisted I tell them what part of Africa I am from . I told them although I am African American, I am American and have no known ties or relatives in Africa. They laughed and said well u are African cause of your skin so where is your father from. I told them theirs a whole generation of African Americans who unfortunately due to slave trade, are not of direct African descent but only distant descent. They basically threw my passport back at me. I was appauled and embarrassed especially because they singled me out of the line and also because this was supposed to be my trip "home" back to Africa to be closer to my roots and I was only starting the trip there to see the pyramids and then off to Ghana. I'll never return to Egypt again.

This is what we've been talking about for years, the International negative perception of Nigeria and anything "Nigerian". Many African countries and the rest of the world perceive us as Corruption-infested, greedy, and unconscious nation. They observe how our politicians behave, looting & stealing public funds so they dislike our presence in their country. Hence the fundamental reason why you sir, and other Nigerians, are frequently singled out for maltreatment or unpleasant experience. So please do not blame these racist countries, let's sort out our country and stop patronising these countries by not travelling there and spending our own money. AMO 👁️🤔😞

I had a stop over in Cairo while going to Germany in 2014. The moment they saw my Naija passport, they began speaking Arabic to one another and pulled me aside. They claimed my schenghen visa is fake and they were trying to detain me. I stood my ground with them and even threatened them that if I missed my connecting flight to Germany, I would surely press charges against them. After a couple of minutes, they spoke Arabic to one another, and they let me go. I don't know their business with my schenghen visa that I legally obtained.

@skyauth Does he have to make a formal request to the Egyptian government before his own government intervenes on his behalf? You don't sound like someone who's traveled out of Nigeria. I am speaking from experience. The Nigerian government has this notorious habit of not intervening on behalf of Nigerians abroad. Back in the late 70s, when l had a Nigerian passport. I had some consular issues in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, on my way to Austria. I went to the Nigerian embassy in Belgrade, and they outright told me they couldn't help me. They didn't ever care if l was stranded in a foreign country or not. I decided to go to the British embassy, and they helped me to resolve my issues. No matter where an American citizen gets into any trouble, the U.S. government immediately gets involved. The U.S. government would not tolerate any of its citizens to be abused. So, for you to expect to a Nigerian citizen to lodge a complaint before the Nigerian government intervenes is highly troubling.

As a Nigerian and a catholic Igbo man i don't trust any Nigerian pastor or so called man of God bcos they're all businessmen packing money at the expense of their gullible followers. This man has cooked up this stories and wanna make it a fake testimony if you know the game. Was he and his so-called 27 pilgrims the only Nigerians that took off from Nigeria to transit in Egypt to connect to their various destinations? The answer is NO so why were they delayed? Why didn't ttey sideline other Nigerians that transited? He has lustfully side eyed 👀 an Arabic woman that reported him to the authorities which is common in Arabic countries and it's something whuch I've experienced in UAE even though i ran away when i saw what was coming. Egypt doesn't have any problems with Nigerians but j know what these business pastors has done to Nigerians with their hypnosis. Beware of Nigerian pastors bcos they're worst than our politicians. You're free to believe whatever makes you feel good. Nigerian pastors are criminals.

Arabs racism towards Nigerians in Arab airports will continue. This is because of the Muslim sheep minded fools who rule Nigeria. When your leadership is weak and incompetent others will take advantage of you.
These nations have an ambassadors in Nigeria. Our government if they were not submissive, religious bigots due to Islamic colonisation of their brains they would have stopped behaving like fools and tackle these Arab Muslims by doing whatever it takes.
Another thing we can do is reduce our passage through Arab airspace. Stop going to Dubai and Saudi Arabia even for Haj. Unless it’s a business you can’t do elsewhere in Africa. Travel through Morocco if you must stop over to Europe. I have never experienced racism in a Moroccan airport or met any Nigerian who has.

I waited for almost 2 hours, nobody was attending to me, I was told to meet immigration and they told me they won’t stamp me out to get an hotel, I told the airport staff to check me into their airport hotel to sleep and I will pay, they refuse. Immediately I changed am for them and they notice I wasn’t taken it likely, after much argument, they check me into their airport hotel to sleep for free without paying. My experience with EgyptAir was traumatic, but I felt pity for those who were paired with members of the opposite sex in hotel rooms almost a year ago. Fortunately, I wasn't paired with anyone because I had my children with me. It was the first time I had heard of an airline, especially one from an Arab country known for low tolerance of such practices, pairing people of different sexes and strangers together in hotel rooms. The hotel was over an hour's drive from the airport. Despite being at the counter early, we were the last to be attended to and were treated like trash, as if we were begging for favors. We weren't assisted until all the white passengers had been secured with hotels. When I told my husband about my situation, he said he had warned me not to fly with EgyptAir because he had a bad experience with them years ago and wouldn't take a free ticket from them. So, I am not surprised by this man of God’s experience.
