- In this episode, I start my journey through Nigeria and I'm on my way to Abuja to sort out a visa for Cameroon. On the way, I pass many, many checkpoints - and you never know what the response will be, or who is trying to stop you on the road. So I try to keep riding, but sometimes, I have to stop..

@@Doorknobz I would say a realist. It's just not safe to ride there with few tens of thousands in equipment. Nobody minds the people living in Nigeria. It's simple - corruption leads to high crime rates.

In ratio to the lots of Nigerian policemen she met on her journey within the context of that video, how many policemen fit into your statement "our police"?.
To you is embarrassing, to them is a norm, they called it roja....😆😆.
@victor-valou
No, it was not a joke 😂😂
it was a joke. He did not want money
I lived and worked in a small town in Nigeria from 1979-81, and rode a motorcycle to get around and also travel around the country. "What did you bring me?" is like a common greeting. I asked my Nigerian friends how to answer it, and they said to laugh it off as Noraly did, or respond with a joke, or say "Next time." Everyone who goes from point A to point B gets asked that, not just white women! And obviously people can't be carrying around gifts for every single person they meet, especially on a motorcycle. Nigerian culture is very "in your face" and extroverted compared to other countries in West Africa, which I also visited. I had to get used to it, but it was a relief to return to my introverted side when I left.
You said it all,as a Nigerian I can relate to that.
That's true. But the part with blatantly saying "give me money" was over the line for sure.
“You’re welcome”.. most of the policemen on the road are very kind. I’m a Kenyan and I like this.

Alone in Nigeria!? Cop asking for money is far from the worst thing, which could've happened.
Yeah, so scary.. Espesially for east asian
Especially for a woman...in a rural place like that there are plenty of places to hide a body...not that anyone would come looking for her...pulling out that roll of money at that gas station wasn't the smartest move. For her safety she'd be better off staying home and watching other people's videos or take a man with you next time.

To a great extent, this video shows how peaceful, adventurous, happy and accommodating Nigerians are. This is different from the negative and abusive picture that is always shown to the outside world about the country. Every nation have its own good and bad so everyone can have a positive perspective (without discriminating) of The country.
The fact that cameras don’t deter them just shows how rampant the corruption is.

When I worked in Nigeria I learned to keep a $20 in my pocket and hide the rest of my money. That way when the inevitable demand for “gratuity” came from the police or other government official, I could plead that the $20 was all I had. It happened a lot. Those stereotypes don’t come from nowhere.
I used to do the same in Baja California, Mexico.
@@rick262 Yep, I'm 66 years old and I usually do the same when I travel in my own country Romania. And to be honest, the same thing happened to me almost everywhere in Eastern Europe. I had the exact same experience at Abuja International Airport after arrival. An official (lady) at the final security check just before the airport's exit confiscated my suitcase and said "Give me something". When I told her I don't understand, she said again, "Give me something, anything", and refused to release my suitcase until I complied. All of this happened right in front of several heavily armed security officers (maybe military), all of them heard this, but none of them interjected, even when I protested. Apparently this is perfectly normal in Nigeria.

Did you give them something? What happened?
I am Nigerian. I was traveling out lately and I was asked for money by about 5-6 different staffs at different checkpoint. When I told my friend about the experience, he told me that they were all in it together. That at the end of each work day, they split the money they have collected from "tasking" travelers among themselves.
In the meantime, I would like to ask you a question. Are you born again?
@@DrDingus It's a longer story as I was also held up for about 2 hours by a guy in passport control who confiscated my passport to solicit a bribe. I refused and when they changed shifts, the next passport control officer took my passport out from under the counter where the previous guy put it, stamped it, and let me through. It was a business trip and I was concerned that the shuttle sent by the company to pick me up would leave without me. My phone couldn't connect to the local network so I couldn't call. Brave lady, wish you safe journey.
Wow 😳 your an adventurous soul, your "crazy"but you have given us courage,we really like you, please 🙏 be safe, thank you and cheers 🥂
I gotta say you're one tough cookie to be able to do what you do in some of the most remote places. As a Woman myself and years of riding various types of cycles, I don't know how well I would have held up facing some of the obstacles you have had to endure. Maybe getting older makes you more cautious...idk, but I for one really do enjoy your adventures and it makes me yearn for the days I was riding around on my Suzuki DR350. Rock on Noraly!
Yea, and I think of the obstacles and hardships she must endure that aren't shown or discussed. Truly the real life Wonder Woman! Peace!
Love your smile when you passed that small wooden plank. Appreciating small wins. 😁
Absolutely amazing adventure ❤, welcome to Africa... We can't wait to see you in East Africa especially Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪❤️
What a nice distinguish corrupt police office gentleman.
It's not corruption, it's generosity. They are testing your generosity...🤣🤣
She skilled 10/10 in speech
Good point 😂😂😂
oh if she give, u think that man aint gonna collect ?
I understand that some roads are terribly bad in a lot of areas. That only rascals drive on roads in Nigeria is demeaning to the many decent Nigerians who have to drive on those roads on daily basis.
However, we aren't rascals. We are decent, hark working, respectful and loving people who are making do with the social amenities available in the country.
i couldn't agree more with this comment :))
Give me money, give me money. No. That chaos would make me crazy. You must have sooooo much patience, Noraly. Dirty fuel must be a worry. Safe travels! Thanks, Noraly!
In an old video, can't remember which one (could have been in Canada where not much was happening) Noraly said she thrives on chaos, and we see this play out time and time again by how effortlessly she navigates chaotic situations that would make most soil their pants! 😂 Peace!
Yes , surprised she doesn't have that fuel filter she used years back in Asia.
Shout out to all the policemen that welcomed her.
Good job done
Enjoyed a lovely tour
Omo I respect you oh, this is balls of steel, Nigerian men abroad will almost faint with fear just to travel from Lagos to Ibadan when they are back home on holiday and you ride through, safe journey and much respect.
You need to be more crazy than brave to do what you’re doing! Absolutely incredible. I spent two weeks in Nigeria this year over the summer to film a documentary about the attacks of Boko Haram and Fulanis. I went to Chibok too and I exactly know what it takes to travel across Nigeria. All the best and please stay safe. Lots of love from the UK 🇬🇧
Are to the guy who has worked to highlight the plight of Roma people?
Risking your life unnecessarily for a YT channel is ridiculous, everyone knows life is cheap in some of these places.
It wouldn't be the first time and it wont be the last when people like her have just "disappeared".... no need to just volunteer to be another statistic...
@@tada2508 Don't worry Roma people have similar problems, but sadly its deep ingrained in their culture, and the "gypsy way of making money". Force prostitution, kidnappings, corruption and stealing. Stereotypes don't fall out of the sky. God forbid you're a darker skin indian or black person, they'll throw slurs left and right at you, thinking they're superior while dressed in raggidy clothes. Of course, this is the city romanis, the countryside living ones have a different culture and are usually honest and hardworking, and are at conflict with the ones living in the city.
@@em4703 You are a paramount and unadulterated reason as to why Abhinav is making documentaries to highlight the sad plight of Romas. Keep it up.
Why you didn't go film Ukraine war can't you leave Africa issues to themselves.
Wow Great adventure. Consider coming to Swaziland, you will really love it and your finish the tiny country in less than a day, yes less than a day. We have friendly welcoming citizens and you will love the green mountainous scenery.... wishing the best and safe trip...🎉🎉
Woman, alone, driving through Africa. Mad respect. And instant sub cause this is insane, LOL.
We are so sorry as Nigerians for this sad ordeal
He just had fun. People what's wrong with you?
@@Rybr2 yeah it was fun but i'm sure he'd have taken anything given....
@@Rybr2Fun? That’s a bad image to portray pls
@@Rybr2lmao. Are you crazy? How’s asking money from people especially an international traveler fun?
Seemed pretty obvious to me that the guy was joking around. Might not be a funny joke but he obviously wasn't seriously asking for money.
My heart beat is racing knowing you are riding through Nigeria... Keep safe always Noraly
Girl is CRAZY!
It's not that bad, ma'am...
whats happening in nigeria
I agree, Nigeria is sketchy and seems dangerous.
@@meFatuationsit’s not at all
I'm going to comment on this video not as a mere spectator, but as a traveling motorcyclist currently on his way to Cape Town from France, 20 years after completing his first tour of Africa on a m motorcycle.
I'm in an African capital where, a few months ago, a friend of mine managed to obtain a Nigerian visa without any problems.
I was able to speak with the consul, who was very friendly but told me that there was nothing he could do for me because the problem was, and I quote, "out of my control". ... well, the gentleman is a consul after all. That means he's probably received instructions... But why such a change ... what could have happened since ... um, a polemic perhaps? Something to upset the Nigerian authorities? But what on earth could it be ....? yes, yes, I'm just guessing...
Well, I'm going to analyse these images a little further. Cops asking for money... it's commonplace in Africa. So on the one hand, yes, this kind of image can help put an end to it... but let's not kid ourselves: only for tourists, not for locals. What's more, these images resulted in the dismissal of the police officers involved. I confess that this bothers me for 3 reasons:
1/ If you look at these images, the demand for money is good-natured. No intimidation, nothing; I've seen much worse sometimes. And these people didn't deserve such treatment. Real bad cops would have made you turn off your camera, and you know it.
2/ These policemen were undoubtedly family support... what about the consequences for their families. It's a serious matter and your responsibility is engaged.
3/ This could lead to a tightening of visa requirements, which could have an impact on other travelers...
All this for what? A video? Sorry. As a traveler I don't approve.
Very brave... amen, enough said, May God go with you anyway wherever you go :)
I m from Pakistan. But please don't judge Nigeria by just these 2 policemen. Also watch other Nigerian who are very friendly.
True fact! Greez from South Germany!
