- In this episode I am exploring the mountains of Togo, West Africa. It's a beautiful area and the motorcycling is amazing here. The rainy season has started though, so I need to find some shelter to hide from a storm, but after that I continue to go and see a waterfall. A few kilometers before the waterfall, there is a roadblock and they do not like my helmet camera.

I'm African but would never have the guts to travel alone like this? I'm both amazed and inspired by your bravery
Congrats, you've been brainwashed by western media.
Thats the dutch People. Known for exploring and travelling. From centuries they do it. Not afraid of anything
For real … I mean the stories I hear alone then traveling unless I’m fully Armed and skilled but with that I will still want to have at least a crew of five to travel with
This is why Africa moves backwards faster than forwards
@@russkle2042 lol I don’t think this is about that … Africans treat white differently and besides that we know ourselves…just like the same way if you go to a foreign land that you have no idea of… because you might have a good perception of the people you would likely do certain things because of what believe and how perceive the people there especially if you believe the people are welcoming to your race
As tense as the interaction with the military men was, the highlight of the video was her discussion with the lady in the wheelchair. Noraly has such a gentle soul.
I agree. Quite a contrast.
Well said.
I love the dress that lady was wearing too, such beautiful colours. Sometimes a simple conversation with someone can brighten anyone's day, we should all try to do that wherever we are :)
wtf!
Exacto, es una dama especial
Noraly, you are so brave. The interaction with the person who wanted to take your camera would have spooked me. Instead you remained calm and courteous. Your winning smile softens hearts of the most arrogant. You are amazing. Be safe.

I can't find the words for you and your amazing spirit towards all mankind. ❤ I have done my share of Solo backpacking in Europe and the Middle East and northern africa where you started this journey over the last 5 years. Just enough to appreciate how special you are. Oh, to join you for a day or two would be an honor. Bill in the US.

You don't need to travel to leave a "legacy". How you live your life and treat others is how you will be remembered. We all are legacies.
Amazing Video, As a togolese, very sorry for this incident with the military, " They did not even know that the insta 360 is a camera and they mistakenly thought the GPS tablet is a video recorder" What they were afraid of was finally done. Happy to realize at the end that, this did not affect your day.. Keep it up!!!
Yep, I'm glad they gave her back her camera, I can't understand what they were thinking...creates a bad impression of Togo and Africa...I'm glad our military in South Africa respect tourist....🇿🇦
I don't think they thought the tablet was a camera, I believe they thought it was connected to the camera and wanted her to show them the camera's content though the tablet.
Thank God Noraly is a very brave and strong woman, I was worried for their next move...but I could also see her been surprised by their reactions...
Dont be sorry atleast they are doing their work to protect the country
Wonder what is so secret in that country for them to want to scrutinize content of her camera?
It's pure bullying and makes them feel important and through that demonstrating their ignorance and lack of intellect.
Sometimes the best (and safest) way to visit some of the exotic places is through the lens of Noraly's camera .
Agreed. I would have been shot by now. Not that I would deserve it either, just my luck with hostile territory.

Hi Noraly, I’m watching all your episodes in a non-chronological way, but you know what …. it doesn’t make a difference because every episode is an adventure on it’s own! You are so amazing, humble and open-minded and showing respect to everyone you encounter, even if they treat you not fair all the time. But because you show how you are, you have, or better you get, a lot of respect back! Also I admire the way you are enjoying your trip all by yourself and your resilience and humour are beyond the normal standards! Thank you again for sharing all the beautiful moments of your trip through Africa!! 🙏🏼
The conversation with the woman at the peanut stand, warms my heart. 👍
That was a sharp reminder of how quickly things can go wrong!
You handled the situation well, staying calm and polite, PHEW!
that wont work every time. one day she will be in the news
Exactly my thoughts. Pushing her luck too much.
Noraly is completely at the mercy of people wherever she goes (she's certainly not helpless, but she is only one person), and so many of us care for her, but can do nothing to help from our seats (the only comfort is, the event happened about a month ago, and the video is up, so we know she is ok). So....stay safe, Noraly!
How do you know the event happen about a month ago, that is July 20th ?
@goodman4093 because on one episode a while back, someone said that they knew about a certain tree that Noraly visited (the Cotton Tree, maybe?) was now gone, so she must have seen it just before it blew down, approximately a month before the video was released.
Also, Noraly herself says she delays them to help prevent people from tracking and following her (she said this during her interview in England in July, I believe).
Fame has its costs.
@@ZackaryMac yeah ABR said she confirmed last minute she can come and be a speaker, and a few weeks later we saw videos about her waiting for parts in Abidjan for 10 days, so I'm guessing that was when that happened, big break in travelling + in a relatively big hub.
This is stupid to go there. No fun and something worst can happen in a minute.

hi Noraly, short ride but an interesting day….The lady with the fruit shop was so sweet, reminded me of my mother in fact.
I got the feeling the guy in the red shirt was in charge at the checkpoint. That looked a bit scary. They were just like the military everywhere really. Turned out they were pretty professional. You handled that well as usual mate.
That was some lovely waterfall. And cheers to the great people and beautiful countryside of Togo.

Yep.
I could never be that cool under such circumstances :)
Did you mean under a "hostile situation?"
Nothing hostile there. The military guys were doing their job. If an Isis-looking person was traveling through the country side of the US, the cops would definitely stop him and ask vital questions including scanning through his camera for security purposes.

Not military. Self appointed thugs
@@holmes1956O whether they're real military or just thugs, believe me in that situation you're at their mercy. I've traveled overland through Africa and been in highly stressful situations with several armed guys surrounding our vehicle - you're immediately intimidated. @FITNESSOVER45 so nice of you to point out this negative possibility. Sometimes it's just better to say nothing at all.
This episode is why I worry about Noraly so much. Her inner strength, patience, and confidence is off the charts though. Definitely one in a billion.
Actually quite surprised that this is the first time you’ve had issues with cameras and the police in Africa.
Luckily for her, Noraly can keep her cool. Usually a few smiles get her through. This video, she wasn't smiling. Except possibly internally, as she knew her 360° camera was filming everything. They just weren't smart enough to know what technology Noraly had.
Well, it was worse than the police. It was the army. And there's one thing you don't want the army to do: interfere with civilian life.

My South African friend always said ‘Mother Africa is beautiful, but she can bite’.
Thankfully you negotiated the situation superbly 🙏
In fact, a situation like that could also end up with one suddenly finding oneself in a prison or in a security cell and being mistaken for maybe some “spy” or something like that. But this could of course also happen somewhere else.
@@aris1956 that can happen anywhere in the world depending on the circumstances, it can happen even in Canada or America if you where filming the police putting down a demonstration. To be fair, people get stopped for filming by the police or army pretty much anywhere in the world. Loads of examples on RUclips.

What an intense episode! The camera near-confiscation had me holding my breath, thankfully the Insta 360 went unnoticed. The drone's view of the Togo mountains was breathtaking, and the waterfall hike was pure wanderlust.

I’m still unsure what they were even looking for or what law she was suspected of violating. Seemed like just some power hungry thugs with guns to me. When more showed up and she was basically surrounded by men with guns it was starting to look pretty scary.
A moment which could have gone wrong but it didn`t thank goodness, keep safe Noraly. xx
The culprits looking over her camera are concerned about being on video themselves. Individuals that are wanted can be found by those looking for them in content such as this. Noraly is not capturing them intentionally but is providing valuable intelligence just the same

In most places, young people who lack sharpness and wit are recruited into the military, where they undergo training to become rough and impolite. Noraly's skillful handling of the uncomfortable and awkward situation with calmness and poise has earned considerable admiration.
"Young" is the wrong word. "Uneducated" is the word. These men don't understand their job and training so they abuse the power of their gun. They most likely had very basic formal education. A lot of soldiers in poorer African countries are not very well educated. Such systems (governments) are not very functional so soldiers are not disciplined in cases like these.

That was quite scary. I am from South Africa and I know how dangerous policemen and military men for that matter can be especially if they think no-one is watching
You can expect a similar treatment by the Khaki taliban here in India too.
It's the same across all third world countries AFAIK!
yeap..and also the indian police killing the muslim..
wait, have you ever had an encounter with the military in South Africa?
@@tebogomaleka9602 Our military in South Africa treat tourists well....Noraly travelled through South Africa and never had a problem....🇿🇦
@@UjwalAnuragin Botswana you won't see this things.
Military: "Give your camera. I want to see what you filmed."
Noraly: "No sir, you have to wait for Sunday's episode, just like everyone else."
Lol😂
Love your reaction

😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I had never seen an ounce of frustration in Noraly's face before, no matter how harsh or dangerous the situation. But when that man took her camera from her hands. Wow! But she knew how to control her frustration and kept her cool. That's how our hero handles what the world throws at her. Chill Out and Ride On!
The hike to the waterfall was awesome. I see that the tropical countries in Africa, are very similar to the ones in South America. The fauna and flora look very much alike. Beautiful!
Just when I think one place in Africa is so beautiful you show another that is just as lovely. The people here seem amazing as well. ❤
why not try ghana, anytime you wanna vist africa
I genuinely worry about your safety many times. I can't believe honestly this is the first time you've had camera equipment confiscated in all of the countries you have visited. Godspeed Norly!
Got enough people on the bounty now to make sure it never happens again. My boy is going to learn a lesson soon in keeping to yourself and not enforcing your will onto others.
@@konsumeryikes!😮
🤔 not really “confiscated” as she got it back after checking 😉 no drama at all 🤷🏻♀️
Hello Noraly and Itchy Boots Community.
First congratulations to Noraly for this journey and thanks for the sharing.
I am a togolese myself and was nervous about encouters with Togo security/border/customs officers as I realized Noraly was heading toward my country... reports of them being unfriendly, unprofessional and even intimidating are common, unfortunately...
The people themselves should mostly be kind and friendly though, just like Victory in this episode...
I wish Noraly less (no more) such bad encounters throughout Togo!
Congrats again!
Cheers!
Can you tell us what the officers were saying?
I’d love a translation of what they were saying.
Very good, Noraly. I'm sure you already know this, but it needs to be said: your attractiveness is not just physical. You are smart, resilient, strong and very brave. Thanks for being such a good inspiration.
For men and women....can learn a lot from her from her travelling
I really love your videos. As an African i have only been to three countries and this makes me appreciate the beauty of this continent. On the side i apologize for the bad treatment you get at our border points. I am sorry about that. But please remember the beauty and kindness of the good people you meet.
We never know how we will handle stressful interactions, but you always do so well in responding and not just reacting to them. And it was very kind of the guy in the red shirt to come over and help translate. Always nice to have a “friend” around in those situations. Also, I hope Victori did not lose too many of her peanuts during that storm ⛈️
Well said 👏
Well I guess the military will see themselves on this episode! You were calm and that's the best approach. The waterfall hike, the waterfall, stunning scenery and the very nice lady in the wheelchair were the real highlights today! Way to go!
They do not represent the true value of Togo. Sorry Noraly
military or fake ... ransome or crooks asking for money. this is what its all about in africa
@@ffayaz007not necessarily, don't be self hating or if you're not African, stop hating.
Look at Europeans killing each other in Ukraine.. The whole of Europe sending weapons to Ukraine to exterminate Russians, who are there to eradicate the nazis that's been killing ukraines's ethnic Russians...
They were not military these people were thugs take their weapons away and they would be like little boys
Africa my motherland we are blessed watching from 🇹🇿 tanzania
Whoa. I held my breath, my eyes wide and got nervous for you. The waterfall was beautiful and I’ll bet that climbing down the shear rock part of the trail was ~challenging. Wishing you well on your amazing journey
The fact that there is a video shows everything went well
@@kidgforce1 I agree, that’s how I felt it ended OK - however, it still seemed like a dicey situation
I'm South African, I always wanted to see Zambia, through your videos I feel like I know it❤❤
Hi Noraly. Of course I'm concerned for your safety. Much turmoil is happening in the great continent of Africa. I'll say a extra prayer.🙏✌️♥️🗽
I dont think prayers will help.
Its becoming more and more dangerous.
Dont go further.
I think these are taped and Noraly is in Holland doing whatever people in Holland do
Noraly must not have just an angel on her shoulder as she does these videos. She must have an entire legion of them! 😇🙏
@@XiLi-o4fTaped a few days or a week at most. She was warned about Niger ongoing conflict by the money changers a few episodes ago
How awesome is this?! Incredible! Thanks Noraly for taking us along!❤😊
As always, your drone views are awesome. Thanks for taking us along for the ride ❤
And not just the drone shots. It's the music she adds that make them so fantastic.
@@jaykb6587 Agreed!
Many men wouldn't have the balls to travel straight into danger zone but you're filled with adventures enthusiasm, you've proved without a doubt that you're unstoppable👍, admiring you all the way from the other side of the world near the land down.
Geen gevloek, geen gescheld, altijd vriendelijk en respectvol. Wat ben je toch een topper. Sindskort je kanaal ontdekt en ben verslaafd.
Great video Noraly! Thank you for sharing it with us. I must say, I haven't seen you that concerned since you and Alaska were crossing the river in that little basket. So glad you got your gear back!! Blessings to you my friend!!
You are a women with wisdom and strength. God has given you the guide and protection. So safe travel all over the world.
Nice comment. I shouldn't have been surprised, but Google the definition of Noraly. "God is my Light" or "Light of God". She shines the light brightly for the world. Peace!
Noraly is a very brave and extraordinary woman, she stays calm in all difficult and almost unsolvable situations, I am impressed, stay safe and warm welcome from Ukraine, thank you for showing us so beautiful places where not every person will ever be able to come )
Thanks again for choosing Africa for this year's tour. You are rally showcasing Africa's beauty to the world.❤
I agree!
LOL
Beauty, as well as corruption, poverty, and failed governments. Lovely!
Your adventure continues to amaze me. You rock! I have hiked in the mountains of equatorial Africa. Your video brought back many found memories. Thanks.
Lots of youtube creators claim to "go off the beaten path". Don't think anybody does it quite like Itchy Boots, and the result is truly exceptional content.
I am highly impressed by your bravery. Keep it up Noraly and be careful.
Easily the biggest adventurer on RUclips 😱
Stay safe & keep showing us what is possible Noraly.
Thanks for all your hard work, Noraly. It's under appreciated the filming, editing, producing and importing the video. You tell your stories in such an interesting way. I suppose it was inevitable with the encounter of the military men. They seemed to be unaware and oblivious to the other cameras on Alaska. Great job!
You handled the men with guns situation like a pro. And that drone pull back shot at 16:28 was beautiful, so was the waterfall.
Vous êtes une femme très courageuse. Je regarderai TOUTES vos vidéos. J'aime l'Afrique où j'ai vécu de belles années.
