My regular ❤route in Cameroon took me through 27 road blocks across the six towns we were putting telephone systems in. They often tried for money, or food, or CDs. Very rarely 😂did I give money. They would back off when I demanded to go into town to see their commandant. Middle of the month between paydays was the worse time. I wrote a series of articles called “the other Cameroon”.😢.

They are very hard punishment for corrupt activities, no doubt, but as in every poor country, the corruption don't stays on one level. Often are whole departments involved. From the little officer on the street, up to the highest superior. Those scams mostly only light up when one part of the chain breaks. And even then, only the lower scapegoat will be punished and the other stay in position.

@@humandroid53 Clealy he was shaking her down for money. All the places Noraly has been they don't even ask her for a drivers license. The International license was clearly stamped signed and dated by issuing authority and she shows it at 11:46
The UN Convention on Road Traffic, which governs the IDP, requires all issuing authorities to sign and stamp the first page and also stamp the permit category letter on the third page for document to be valid. I fault the officer for letting her go without correcting this error. It is not because she has gone through sixty countries that the document is correct. For some of those countries, her domestic driving licences might be enough, but not in Cameroon where there are special provisions for using the IDP since Cameroon is not even signatory to the current UN convention or the two previous conventions that govern the IDP. Let her check the requirements properly before getting into trouble in another country where the IDP is not recognised and the officers stand their ground.

Reality says, there are always corrupt arse holes. Moreso in countries built and run by corrupt governments. It's just a fact. And a good lesson for all of us lucky enough to live in modern westen countries, to keep our governments clean and honest. We've become lax, and it's time to refresh. I speak also for my country, the United States. Corruption is creeping in here in very disturbing ways. The people need to be educated in their liberties, and always ready to clean house and stay Revolution minded. Being armed here in the US is one of the ways we do that. But even more powerful, are teaching our children how our Constitution works, and what liberties they already have. Modern society has gotten lazy, and we all live in a mindset of ASKING to do things that we already have a right to do! This mindset must be corrected, or the concept of freedom and personal liberties will wane, and be lost to time.
Sir, I am currently vacationing in the Dominican Republic. I have a car I purchased because I’m here often. Two days ago, the police pulled up to me near my house and asked me for documents. I gave him the docs then he said they are not good. So he took my keys and said let’s go to the station. When I got there another cop shows up and said just give me what you have and you get the car back. I told them I’m American and I’m a tourist. They didn’t care. I think that made that first for me 😅 at the end, I decided to pay because it was my birthday on that day. I just didn’t want to lose more time. Anyways it’s disappointing that as a foreign person in a foreign country, people really abused us because they think we have it all.

He will never get a reprimand from his superiors because of the graft that is imbedded into their culture. You also don’t think his co-hort is going to rat him out.

International Driving Permits do not follow a standard design. UK-issued IDPs have a signature and stamp on the front, ones issued in The Netherlands don't. Her papers were in order. Noraly was 100% to hold her ground.
So maybe the official had not seen an idp with no stamp before and was just doing his duty.
