This scene is so mesmerizing !! I bet I have watched it a million times and I am still not tired of it !! A great scene and a great movie !! Amazing how it's the same person, but Bette makes these women soooo different just personalities !! 😀😀 What a showman she was !!
When Margaret walks in Edies says, "A dump?" This has to be a reference to Bette Davis's earlier film "Beyond the Forest" in which she says, "This place is a dump".
"Now sit down!". For some reason I believe I have seen this Bette Davis movie more than any other. I really like "The Star" as well. "The Anniversary" is a fun twisted icky move and the heart moving" The Nanny" makes four that kept Bette relevant.
Bette Davis was absolutely beside herself in this movie 😀 they must have used the corner of the room as the demarcation line, in order to line up the separate footage in editing. Amazing, some of the tricks they used back then
When she a dump ! She was saying what her twin was thinking 😂😂😂 love it . She sounded for real when she was talking 😂 Great acting . CAN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS. PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR MISSING .😢
The opening of this scene is often misrepresented. Edie says, "A dump?" wanting to goad her sister into reacting to the shabby living quarters. The misrepresentation is that, when Margaret walks in, she assesses the shabby room and says, "What a dump!" But that's NOT how Margaret rolls. ;o)
as she made her way into her 50's, Bette became even more captivating ... though her looks may have been fading, the screen presence just continue to build
I kinda love this movie; it's my favorite of Bette Davis' late career (I'm not a big fan of "Baby Jane", it's just TOO campy). Dead Ringers has a great plot, and it's camp, but well-done, restrained camp. Plus the bonus that it was directed by the great Paul Henreid, who co-starred with Davis in "Now, Voyager" and "Deception".
Let me preface by writing that I do love Miss Davis and have always been an avid fan of her's in many films she's played in. 'The Little Foxes, The Old Maid, Now Voyager" and the list can go on. However, "Dead Ringer" was probably one of my least favorite. Somehow I felt her performance in this film was extremely caricatured.
Not Davis’s best, but when was she ever not interesting? Instead of the usual good/evil twins, she’s evil/evil twins. Wonder how many times she heard “Fix your nose” and “be more…ordinary” before someone realized she was riveting “as-is”.
*"YOU HAVEN'T GOT THAT MUCH"*
I love that part lol 😂
I Know a scream!!!
One of the best lives EVAH!! LOLOL
@insharahman4372 Yeah, that's the cherry on top of that little outburst!
I love how both sisters have unforgettable lines !! Margaret's and Edith's lines both compete with each other in your brain !! 😀😀😃😃

Betty davis lives forever..
Betty David's eyes were beautiful..
The visual effects of this movie are quite impressive, even for today's standards.
I agree
yes! how does Bette Davis Cross the room behind Bette Davis ( seated!)???
To outer space 🤣🤣🤣 the tone in her voice , wonderful !!! I wish they act this way today . No sit down!! 😂😂😂
What a brilliant movie.
This is the original movie ruclips.net/video/HhwZShgqkwQ/видео.html

I think that's a safe bet.
Actually, it was "What a Dump!"

I love "another Man's Poison," too.

👉 No one can play against Bette Davis... except *Bette Davis!*
She should have gotten double royalties on this film! 💰💰
Yes indeed.... plus a double OSCAR !!!!!
People can say what they want , I still like it better than the junk they make today. ❤
Phony mourning makes me sick! You don't mourn him, because you never loved him. I said take off your hat and coat..Love it! lol
Total Camp.

I want to see this one. Big fan.
I loved this scene because of the music as well ❤
“A dump?”
Bette was so meta
as she made her way into her 50's, Bette became even more captivating ... though her looks may have been fading, the screen presence just continue to build
You dont mourn him cuz you never loved him I said take off your hat and coat.
You GO, Bette!!!!!!!
I saw this movie last night on Turner classic movies and i am a bette Davis fan. I don't think this is not one of her best films.
"What a Dump!"
I keeping my hopes up for the whole movie 😞

Truly one of Bette's most campy horrible performances!
Poor Bette. A life of smoking, drinking and husbands aged her quickly.

This feels like 2 drag queens going at it
Not sure that jazz score helps the tone
