Well done, but there’s a small mistake at the beginning of the lecture. You mentioned that atp is converted to adp in fact it’s converted to amp and the 2 inorganic phosphates and the phosphoanhydride bond is broken by inorganic pyrophosphatase otherwise perfect video

She recommended fasting and I didn't understand it until now. Now I know how to mobilize my fat. I thought she just meant exercise but I see what I really have to do Thank you so much
Genius for sure... wonder how many hours of reading Zach has put in and his team getting this type of lecture.. Congratulations to Zach and his team!!! Best! Obama should see this and endorse it.
Both my lectures and textbook (Harper) are useless and migraine-stimulating. Your videos are easy to follow, through-explained in a way that you think "It all makes sense now" multiple times halfway-through. Thank you, man.
Nice video about oxidation of fatty acids . Understanding Biochemistry is extremely important for all doctors including gynaecologists. Without understanding the steroid pathway we can't understand the pathophyiology of Disorders of Sex Development . I would like to add few things more here about beta Oxidation . Beta oxidation takes place in four steps: dehydrogenation, hydration, oxidation and thyolisis. Each step is catalyzed by a distinct enzyme. It is the catabolic process by which fatty acid molecules are broken down.
I have a PhD in endocrinology and Diabetes and I still watch your videos (Have been watching since undergrad) and they still make my heart skip a beat 😍
Nice video sir.. but a small correction .... in the first step.... ATP is converted to AMP + PPi... which is converted to Pi by an enzyme inorganic pyrophosphatase ... this makes the first step irreversible!!!
Amazing explanation! Thank you ninja master. I think you flipped the CoA-SH in the opposite direct. I believe it should be Acetyl-S-CoA, so that CoA is bound to acetyl with thioester bond:)
Greetings from👋 Ghana 🇬🇭 KNUST School of Medicine and Dentistry sometimes when I go to lectures and I can't follow what the lecturer is saying, I just watch your videos. When I watch the video I even understand more better than my lectures.
Nice and concise, I really appreciate what you're doing, particularly for people that cant afford education...but bear in mind, palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated acid, necessitating more reactions that you drew, but for palmitic acid it is perfectly correct, and the thiol group is what connects the CoA to the acyl group.
You are a legend thank you so much for helping me through med school... You manage to do more in half an hour than hours of professors or the textbook😁

One suggestion - Don't show the thiol group on CoA just hanging off the end. The sulfur acts as a nucleophile and ends up binding to the first carbon in either acetylCoA or acylCoA.

Isn't it a Hydroxyacetyl CoA D.H and not the Ketoacyl CoA D.H in the third reaction?
