This takes "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell" to a whole new level.
😂
This is all still so confusing to me and a lot to remember I’m just gonna leave my bio class in gods hands it’s like I don’t even know how to study this stuff. I’ve listened to RUclips recordings of my teacher quizlet and when it’s time to do the work/take a quiz I don’t remember anything
@@iitsmeneeka8565 you got this bro, just give it your best!
@@iitsmeneeka8565 same here. i take economics, bio and chemistry and its honestly terrifying that economics is easy for me compared to chem and bio, since i hear people say economics is difficult, oh boy let me introduce you to STEM
@@ecstasylol6427 🤗if only everyone realised this
Most clear explanation I have ever encountered regarding oxidative phosphorylation!
justbia14 trueeee!!
@@lilybushra6901 Truly
For reallll
Can you explain what the complexes are? None of this makes sense to me because of the lack of explanation of what the many complexes are. Maybe they have their own videos?
Hi I am new to Dirty medicine, how can I view or search all videos?
If you want to remember the order of inhibitors of the ETC think "RACCOON"
R otenone - Complex I
A ntimycin - Complex III
C yanide - Complex IV
C O - Complex IV
O - ATP Synthase
No coupling - uncoupling agent
This exactly what I was looking for 🤤
Thanks!!
😱 genius
Thanks!!
Yusuf I don't understand it goes complex IV to complex IV
Why weren't you around during the 1st year of my medical school. Even Harper's Biochemistry doesn't deliver such a clear cut explanation. I will never forget this in my entire life. Its etched in my brain forever. Thank you. Huge respect !!!
For real! I tried Harper’s and Lippincott now in my first year med, but it was this explanation that made it make sense.
Please try Lehninger's Principle of Biochem as a reference book if you haven't already. Vander/Harper/Stryer does a good job but Lehninger helps to build the foundation of the concepts.
Why is the NADH from glycolysis got 3-5 ATP??
On God man explained it so well I understood it at 1am the night before my exam
@@user-hn9qg5qm3o Bnb explains this. If 2 NADH produced in glycolysis are transported to mitochondria via malate shuttle, they remain to be 2 NADH; if these 2 NADH are transported via Glycerol-3-P shuffle, 2 NADH are converted to 2 FADH2, decreasing 2 ATP.
this was the best explanation ever .... literally u saved me from reading an entire lesson
For real
The most clear explanation ever. The man knows the stuff.
It's true. Very understandable
This guy should be given a national award for simplifying ETC the way he did
Not only this video taught me about oxidative fosforilation, but also a new vocab. Thank you for this high yield material
😂
@@animagusoc962 lmao
Lolll fosforilation
tysm...i guess ,ths was the only video on oxidative phosphorylation which made this concept so clear!!!tysm to dirty medicine again
L
Exactly. College professors made me more confused while the topic is easy when I saw this video
cannot agree anymore
@@shubhankardas7791 exactly!!!!!
Never been so certain and confident about this topic but because of your video I've finally understood the whole basics of oxidative phosphorylation . THANK YOU SO MUCH😊
This video literally helped me understand how to electron transport chain work! Other videos I watched were pretty confusing. Thank you!!
I've been trying to learn this for years. Hands down one of the best videos I've ever seen. Thank you so much!
I really appreciate your light tone and the simplifying of things. It's not stress-inductive and helps organising the thoughts very well
Im so impressed with dirty medicine. I always skipped these videos thinking it would be difficult. But I cant believe their videos are actually the most explanatory, detailed and easy to understand
I want to echo the other comments. This was the CLEAREST video I've seen on the ETC & Chemiosmosis. Thank you!!!
WOW! The way u present with the inhibitors of ETC is remarkable, precise while detailed. I’ve utilized this material to teach my SAT BIO students. Thanks a lot.
Just have them watch this video lmao

The most clear, concise, magical, miraculous, heavenly explanation available for ETC in this whole wide universe, THANK YOU!!
Your channel is a blessing!😍 Tomorrow is my reporting about cellular respiration ad this ETC was really annoying me. Now I finally get it,thank u so much.
This was INCREDIBLE!!! Step by step, with pictures!!! I learned so much. Thank you!!!
I almost give up with biochem and came across this channel. Now I am inspired and unstoppable!
By far the most concise video I've ever seen about ETS. Thank you so much!
bro thank you so much, i though that it was going to be impossible for me to understand this topic, but with you explanation everything just made sense. you save lives of medical students.
it has been 2 years and i still keep coming back to this video. it is engraved in my brain
Thank you Dirty Medicine Team! FINALLY got it after 8 years! Congratulations for your super help!
I really needed this video two years ago studying physiology - Glad it's here now and I finally understand the process.
Today I received my step 1 results and I passed. I truly wanna thank you for your content, your biochem series was pure gold during my prep and your drugs of abuse video made me score a couple questions on the real deal. Once again thanks sir!
manifesting this for myself x
and congrats on the pass!! well deserved :)
Hey @kiara have you taken all dirty medicine from RUclips only, ? Or anyone have to buy its subscription?
Mashallah you truely have a gift of clarity and eloquence when it comes to breaking something complex into simple terms and delivering it. Being knowledgable and having the talent of delivering that knowledge are 2 different things, and you have both.
Thank you for helping all of us, May Allah reward you and bless you .
Have you had any formal practice in teaching or do you practice on your own?
I feel like I could cry rn, this is the best video I’ve ever seen for-what I thought was-a complex process. This is gonna save my life for exams!
I had such a hard time grasping this concept but your explanation made it so clear!
Finals are coming and this is a great help! I really appreciate the way you stitched the concepts together to form the big picture.
I came into this video very confused by other videos, my book and especially my lecturer.
I came out of this video with a very confident understanding in this topic.
best, clearest, most organised explanation of oxidative phosphorylation in existence. you have my sincere thanks.
just the way you explain it is amazing. Finally, after reading so many books, I get this process. It's just hard to remember it all and 5 more units for AP.
This was so clear. Thank you. I really like the pictures, labels and repitition of key points. You are a good man
Thank you for explaining this in English, all of the other explanations I've found have been so over complicated.
My step1 is next week. I'm freaking out and not being able to sit and focus and your videos are helping me revise topics between panic attacks lol. Thanks man, love you.
The clearest explanation I've seen on YT. All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you!
after years only this video helped me master ETC watching it 3 times for USMLE step1,big thank you.
wow, this is on the USMLE???
thank you so much! This is the first time that, finally, i get to understand it fully
Literally could not be a more clear, easy to understand video. Really awesome work.
This video is almost 3 years old but I'm studying for my MCAT coming up in March and this has been one of the best explanations I've come across. Thanks so much
did u score well?
This is such a good video. You explained the biochemistry concepts so clearly and straightforwardly while explaining the reasons and goals for every processes, which gave me a bigger picture and helped me understand a whole lot better. Thanks a lot! Helped me a lot to prepare for my test!!
Easily the best explanation I've heard on this concept, massive thank you
omygod... something that my professor wasnt able to explain in an hour, this guy just explained everything i needed to know in 16 minutes!! Thanks fam!! You are appreciated!!
Not only is your video well detailed, it is very precise and straight to the point. Thank you so much❤❤
This was such a life-saver. The concept is so clear now. ❤ Thank you so much.
Damn! Such a phenomenal detailed explanation. I literally checked 5 videos on ETC before this video. Now ETC is imprinted in my brain. Thank you, you really helped me for exams. keep the great work :)
This is the only video that actually made me understand the electron transport. Thank you soooo much
omg i have never been so enlightened about the electron transport chain thanks to your channel..... nice explanation.... clear and fluid..
Very concise and clear. Great for MCAT level understanding. Love it
been studying for a very long time , tried to understand this , never worked out for me , can't thank u enough , god bless u.
This was perfect! I do not think it could’ve been explained any better! Thank you!
Dr Dirty , What would we even do without you.
Thankyou for making such HY videos with clear concepts
Home king explained clearly in 10 mins what my prof couldn't in 5hrs
Hey! I am Indian medical student. Your content is awesome 👏 Today I understood what is Electron transport chain. Thanks 🙏🏻
wow. out of all the science classes I've taken, this is the clearest explanation. only 10 min and I am so shook
Was fan of your mneumonics , now the concepts has blown my mind. Thanks a lot. may god bless you !!!

you're literally a God-send thanks so much!
I have a test in the next 30minutes and I think of looking for something to watch to atleast get in the exam room with something then here's the dirty medicine video on Electron transport chain I watch it for 16minutes and it summaries the whole semester 💯🙏
Thanks a million dude👊💪
I’m literally so happy, I watched so many other videos on this and it was so confusing for no reason but this is so simple and easy to understand and remember! Thank you so so much

thank you so much ! I'm actually feeling pretty confident for my test now!
I watch many videos for understand oxidative phosphorylation ...but this one is the most understandable explanation .... Thanku so much ☺️
I cannot thank you enough for this video! The most clear explanation on YT!!!!!!!!

DUDE I watched TWO other videos with one teacher lecture and NONE of them helped me understand the electron transport chain as well as ✨THIS✨ THANK YOU!!
can't thank you enough. years of pending doubts is now resolved.🙂 thank you so much sir.
Had to subscribe after such a thorough and clear video. Thank you so much
The words you have used like "shuffling" and "lace the intermemberane" are vividly descriptive in understanding this beautiful nano machine.
This was really wonderful. I am so grateful that you put this out there for all of us to learn from.
Really incredibly explained about the each step involved in it with reasonable and logical way !!
wow! im amazed at how much I learned from a video than a professor in person/online course
This is a ridiculous amount of commercials for a 16 min video, but the information was very valuable so thank you.
5 mins of ads
You. Saved. My. Life. Thank you so much!! This explanation is godly. You're a fantastic teacher!
Yeah it's too clear .... I watched many lectures and RUclips videos but only this video gave a clear picture about oxidative phosphorylation and electron transport chain...... thank you soo much
So here you seeing the best ETS vid on youtube hands down... always found it too complicated lol.
Me too 😜
As a student who studies medicine, I can say you're doing a great job!! Please keep going!
You made this whole process so simple to understand! Thanks for the help!
This is probably THE greatest and most perspicacious explanation of a very difficult concept (ETC) in the history of foreign medical graduate education. (ok, AMGs too)
It's very high yield to know,Allegedly.
That is awo some👩🏫 but I have question when the electron carrier pumps protons it uses energy so it is active transport or not?
This is the best explanation I have ever seen!!!
Cleared all my concepts!
Thanks alot Sir
Flawless! Loved the fact that you emphasized high yield concepts.
Finally u saved me!!this helped me a lot 😂😂😂.
Don't mind me if I copy the other comments and say "THIS IS THE BEST EXPLANATION OF THIS TOPIC"😍✨
Thank you! Prepping for the MCAT and I felt so so so so lost.... I'll be sharing this video!
Now this is what we called an explanation. I got it perfectly! Thanks a lot ❤
+1 one on one of the best explanations of the ETC-oxidative phosphorylation. And I am a PhD in Biology, so ive heard many of them )))) You did not highlight why it is called phosphrylation though, so as I understand it, it is the use of O2 and addition of phosphate to ATP that makes it OXPHOS
It is called Oxidation because of stripping the Electron from NADH and FADH2. It is called Phosphorylation because of giving a Phosphorous to ADP.
That moment when you realize that the Electron transport chain is called like that bc IT TRANSPORTS basically the same ELECTRONS from complex to complex 😅 I know this is so basic but looking at this animation everything just made sense ❤ thank you!
This is such an awesome explaination. Lecturers make the concept so damn complicated to understand but this video is too good to understand
I searched many videos ...nobody could make it so simple and crystal clear like u did ...tq you ...lots of love from India
Aspirin Toxicity will also cause an uncoupling effect (it's responsible for the fever).
Also worth mentioning Brown Fat (Thermogenin)
This is the type of information on top of this video that I’m looking for. We want more info on top of this process. Thx
01:43 Goal of Electron Transport Chain
12:46. Electron Transport Chain inhibitors
13:42. ATP Yield
Such a Crystal clear explanation i have ever gone through about oxidative phosphorylation
thank you so much for the video! the explanation is very clear, finally understood what was actually happening here and there
So if we figure out how to reverse the ETC i can turn water into Oxygen. So basically my dreams of becoming a fish isnt that far fetched? lul
Using energy to make oxygen so that you can use oxygen to make energy. Give this man a Nobel prize 😂😂
h i g h y i e l d
By far the clearest explanation about oxidative phosphorylation I watched. KUDOS!
