Thank you for checking out this review of EARTHRISE leader class Optimus Prime! Be sure to let me know what you think of the figure down below! NOTE: It has come to my attention that I completely FORGOT to showcase the blaster! I will be sure to show it off to you all in my next review! Really sorry!
I'm one of those people who are very happy with Siege and Earthrise releases...they have made Transformers playable again! I have nothing against masterpieces they are really great for collecting, but nothing beats picking up a transformers figure, transforming it, and playing it with friends or with my daughter, and doing it all over again until our hands hurt! Thanks for the review! On my toes waiting for my Optimus earthrise!
Depends on which MP figure you're talking about. Older ones, like Soundwave (and his Minions), Starsaber, MP10 Optimus, the "Super Z Bros." (Prowl, Bluestreak, & Smokescreen), and even a couple more recent ones like Hot Rod are pretty fun to play with and transform. (Hot Rod feels similar to the G1 toy anyway, moreso than the Power of the Primes one)
In a way...yes. but also no. It's not super masterpiece and theres actually a few flaws but hes still a hell of a lot better than MP44. Least in my opinion. Why? because THERES NO FAT BACKPACK
I LOVE all of the reviews you've done for Transforners figures. Good, clear audio; good, clear images; full transformation shown and clearly explained; comparison to other figures to show size; and up close shots of details. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!
they are finally realizing that most kids dont buy these. and that its mostly collectors. and so we get high quality figures for once in a blue moon! impressed with the earthrise line so far!
Yeah I finally noticed it too once they removed all the pointless action features and lights and sounds gimmick in both Earthrise and Studio Series, I knew they ain't focusing on kids no more.
This figure really made me consider getting back into transformers. It feels so polished for a mainline figure, something i havent really seen in a while. I definitely am considering getting this along with the other siege/earthrise figures. Love seeing transformers becoming high quality again!
Masterpieces: *Distant sobbing* T-they did it.. THEY MADE A GOOD PRIME! WITH A GOOD PRICE AND- THE MATRIX AND TRAILER?! NOOO! WE ARE GOING OUTA BUSINESS *More sobbing* All jokes aside, I’m looking forward to this chapter! I can’t wait to spend every penny on this new wave! But really I hope they do a megatron because it would be amazing! Maybe even a remold or re paint of red alert for sun streaker?
Word of Caution: There are some reports of stress marks on his chest while folding in the chest while transforming from vehicle to robot mode or robot to vehicle mode. The reason why it is so is that the panel on the chest bumps up to the other side and forcing it will put stress on the plastic, forming that stress mark. Hopefully this will not be a widespread issue as I am planning to buy this figure.
Here's a thing about size classes. Thay aren't based on the robot's size they are based on the overall mass of all the plastic in the box. In each line there's a minimal and maximal mass for each size class. They actualy come from super hero action figures like batman or superman sold by kenner. There was basic class that contained just figure with small accessory and then deluxe that contained a figure of the same size with just more accessories or some bigger accessories. Bigger size classes were invented to accomodate bigger accessories like vehicles. Hasbro adapted this system when they bought kenner and with transformers it was decided that bigger size classes will contain bigger and more complex or more gimmicky robots. Still nowadays it's based on the mass and not size of the robot. That's why Animated Prowl had a lightbar weapon, he just was too massive for scout and not massive enough for deluxe, they just had to add somethimg more. That's why Studio Series Leader Shockwave contains Paratrooper, Brains and Wheelie and Leader DOTM Megatron contains Igor. This is also why they classify some Voyager characters with more accessories in War for Cybertron trilogy as Leaders. Actualy it seems to be the theme of Leaders in that trilogy, every leader so far is a Voyager with more accessories or big accessory.
Just subscribed! You have good solid reviews! I live in Texas, and watching your reviews gives me about a 6 week heads up on whats to come! Thanks for all the work!
After watching this video I’m in love. I’ve been trying to find a figure to add to my collection and hopefully this will be the next one. Keep up the amazing work
Has-Tak better up their MP game with their recent weaknesses (Bee 2.0, Beast Wars spider lady {her name escapes me lol}) especially when you can get virtual MP's at such a mark-down in Earthrise. Also, I really don't like this new trend of Hasbro selling voyagers as leaders (like a 10$ mark up for accessories). If Optimus or Shockwave came as just themselves with voyager prices, and then had their accessories available for maybe like 15$ or something as a separate piece, I think that would be much more consumer friendly. I can understand Ultra Magnus though.
Blackarachnia. And I agree. The $50 USD price point is a bit steep. All the figures classed as “leaders” so far should be no more than $40, but I’ll be nice since I remember that these people need to earn a living as well, so $45. It’s not like it’s unaffordable for me, it’s just a little off putting.
Fascinating and unexpected transformation. I alreaday have an Optimus Prime and I don't tend to buy multiples of the same character but I may have to make an exception with this one. Outstanding!
Siege Optimus looks more like he's post-Earthrise, rather than before it, tbh.. LIke they took his Earth Mode and slapped a few extra bits onto it to let him operate on another world better.
Much like with Jetwing Prime, I will be getting this figure at a cheaper price. $55 is too much, but $35 is decent for me (like when I got Jetwing Prime)
This review doesn't mention the gun at all 2:13 I wish they placed the trailer hitch further down the legs like in the middle of all wheels or far enough down to allow the cap to make full 90 degree terms
For some reason, the Siege Prime looks more bigger until you stand them side by side. They definitely improved upon Siege and made him less bulky -especially the ugly back on the Siege. I thought the Siege was good. I am glad they continue to make improvements in each version.
I'm so glad I pre-ordered this figure, he looks incredible. Although, I completely agree he shouldn't have been sold as a leader class figure. Great review.
I'm soooo glad I sold my siege OP when I did (before this one was announced), cause this one looks way better! I will get this prime as my main G1 Prime, although I agree that he doesn't seem worth a leader price. With dotm OP the trailer does so much with all the extra weapons and the jetpack it's so much more value and it's worth a leader price IMO.
@@bujindork What kind of out-of-touch rich weirdo are you? I save hundreds of dollars a year selling figures I no longer feel I need, and I pass them to people who want them.
Gosh, and I thought I loved the Siege version of Prime. The Earthrise version is so much sleeker (for a boxy boy) with an elegant transformation and an actual Matrix of Leadership. And that articulation, wow. They did an excellent job on this baby. Now, if only I could get it without the trailer, or the Trailer turned into some Ultra Magnus/Powermaster armor…
I finally got Optimus Prime and his trailer, it was a great birthday present since I'm a fan of the G1 series since 1984. Not gonna lie to you, it took a while to get him.
+PrimeVsPrime, the original Megatron was a 1913 Walther P-38 UNCLE gun. Hasbro has consistently refused to reissue him as the original gun so he had to be reissued in those various alternate bodies is why he was never allowed the gun.
love the look of this figure, even more so than the reveals. really liking the proportions of the robot mode too, especially how clean and seamless the parts are
There's an OS version of the Siege Optimus. As well as an OS PotP Optimus (whose sole purpose, as far as I'm concerned, is to have an Orion Pax in MP scale).
Considering that there's a good chance that this will be the last G1-styled Optimus Prime I'll ever buy I'm more than happy with paying a bit extra for it. Just having a version of this character with no obvious corners cut justifies the price. And honestly, you'd never get articulated fingers on a Voyager. After twenty years of almost-but-not-quite Primes I'm just glad that I can finally consider this slot in my collection to be well and truly filled.
I like how this figures are basically budget-affordable masterpiece figures (still planning to have one MP, though) I like how optimus looks here, maybe will get him along with Wheeljack and Hoist, and possibly Cliffjumper.
The rear wheels are the same as the SS Optimus Primes’. Edit: the wheels on the trailer are the same as the front wheel of the SS Optimus’. Just things I noticed. Oh shoot, his hands open? Does that mean he can hold his Matrix? I wonder if part 3 of the WFC trilogy will be the slow conversion from G1 inspired looks to Bayverse inspired looks. That’s be awesome!
I'm guessing that the third line will be based more on the 85-87 toylines, maybe with some Transformers the Movie characters like Cyclonus and Galvatron and Hot Rod.
This is probably the best Optimus. However, it isn't perfect. It needed to have the trailer hitch 5mm port further back. You can't jackknife the trailer as a truck. That is only a minor issue, however.
Awesome review! I will definitely try to find this figure to pick up. How did you get the Seige Prime and Megatron figures with the animation colors rather than the standard seige paint?
Even at a Voyager size I'm whelmed. It feels like an upscaled albeit complex Deluxe being sold at a leader price point. Optimus feels very skinny in robot mode, as opposed to say, Astrotrain who feels quite dense and quite big.
I'm Optimus Prime'd out and was hoping the next ER review would be anything but him or those mini-bridge things. I'm content with the first SIEGE OP and I'm only waiting to see how Wheeljack, Grapple and Starscream look.
You forgot to show the trailer interactivity to its full extent. The door has a removable panel, forming a shield, and the repair drone can be detached and used as a weapon/jetpack.
