I like how in the 86 movie when the autobots enter unicron. Hot rod gets separated from them and when they see him again he’s larger and has a trailer in vehicle mode and no one asks questions
To be fair, Kup did notice and knew what was going on because he said "I knew you had potential lad"
Well if you want to put this in perspective Unicron was about to freaking explode and they needed to get out

When Rodimus commands the Autobots to transform and roll out, Cliffjumper out of all of them should've been like, "Who died and made YOU prime, huh?"

It's almost like Hasbro took the strongest points of every Rodimus/Hotrod toy ever created and amalgamated it into a single figure. This is fucking insane.
Creator of a T-cog! He also was liquid-shape transformer. And first of all shifters.
Unfortunately he should be the same size as Galvatron. That is a deal breaker for me.
@Adam Harris, even Megatron and Optimus aren't as big or tall as Galvatron. Go figure.

I feel like they were not super concerned about hiding the feet because he is meant to plug into the trailer in that form.
He IS Rodimus Prime, his vehicle mode is the truck.
Agreed. It's nice that you _can_ have the cab or car separate if you want and it works by itself, but is more bulky than a pure sports car. Only thing I find odd with the vehicle mode is the sort of 'neck' between the cab and trailer, given that the original toy is much more flush there.

When you push in the front wheels you can actually split the wheel open and push it in little further and slot a tab to fully lock the wheel

At this point I like to think that classes are just price points rather than size, but there will always be a standard size for every class. Hasbro is just putting more love with their figures and is being more conscious or aware of scale.
They better. You know they noticed these 3rd party companies releasing some absolutely AMAZING feats of engineering, and if they wanna keep making the ol dolla dolla bills, they absolutely HAVE to show more love and care to the figures they release.
Seeing the continuity of engineering from 86 Hot Rod into Kingdom Rodimus Prime makes me wish Hasbro would make an Orion Pax to compliment their multitude of Optimus releases in the WFC.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on that notion. Given what the first two Orion Pax toys were (a repaint of G1 Targetmaster Kup w/Wheelie into Orion Pax w/Dion, and a straight repaint of Titans Return Kup with a repaint of the Sentinel Prime Headmaster) before the pretty nice PotP Orion Pax (that had to be both the chest & backpack of the Optimus Prime mode AND a pretty craptastic Optimus truck cab), the only option for a WFC Trilogy Orion Pax would be that kinda lousy SS86-2 Kup...likely with the even fuglier SS86-3 Blurr head.
Worst case is that they do exactly that during the upcoming Legacy line. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

Rodimus looks great! I'm actually happy to see that the Matrix effect is hard plastic, since that hopefully means it won't slowly melt paint over time like the rubbery ones do.
By the way, I think you missed a step with the wheels on the shoulders - each of those wheels is two halves, and the outer half should be able to slide forward to tab into that slot in the shoulder next to the wheelwell.
my only wish for the vehicle mode is that his car could go more into the trailer to make it more cartoon accurate
Which also would be more accurate to the original toy.
That is my gripe. It just looks like Hotrod is bodged on to the trailer rather than being a real space winnebago. It is too bad.

The price just recently went up for this guy from 79.99 to £92.99 at a major store 😂😂
100% agree, I wonder if that is why it is so easy to find too. In the UK store called Argos it is the only wfc figure they have, I'm sure we don't need to debate why. Badly want to get it for my nephew. Would of had it months ago if it wasn't for that price

Still sitting on my shelf across from the new optimus. Looks great? *shrugs* I guess I'm not that excited to spend commander class money to replace a figure I am very happy with.
Just like computers, the new model is obsolete in 6 months. Frankly that figure was obsolete when it was designed imo. Definitely looking forward to getting my hands on this new one.
Was bad for its time, in my opinion. After titan masters and combiners, hasbro really tried its hardest force out a gimmick instead of making good figures.
That figure is terrible imo but ironically is the one responsible for getting me back into TF as an adult albeit 3rd party up til recently
And it isn't even that decent.
Took me almost an hour to transform this dude from vehicle to robot and oh boy was I sweating during the process - you make the transformation look so smooth and straightforward.
I like that he comes with The Primus Sword, it´s a nice touch to Regeneration One

Am I crazy? I dont see $80 worth of figure? Maybe $60 at best. Hasbro is milking nostalgia and it makes me worried about the future cost of figures if this does well. They been crapping out lackluster figures for so long that we got used to it. Now that they put a little effort they jack up the price and people are thanking them for it.
😩 in Germany this figure costs 109 € that is 124 $ ... over Christmas it was on sale for 92 € ~ 105 $
In the 1986 movie, Rodimus Prime hurls Galvatron out of Unicron and into space. Years later in the G1 cartoon season 3, he began to have self-doubts being the chosen one and Autobot leader and fails during the Hate Plague crisis.

I wasn't expecting much from this figure just because of the scale, but they wanted to go above and beyond with features for this figure and it definitely seems a little more worth it now

So nice to see they got rid of Studio 86 Hot Rod faux chest. Nice.
I went from hyped after the reveal, to a bit weary after hearing Thew’s concern about it recently but now seeing it I’m getting hyped again, don’t regret pre-ordering it one bit
I love figures that open up to show inner workings
This review definitely warmed me up to this figure, but my one pet peeve still remains. A 70+ dollar price point, and it still doesn't have painted wheels. It's a bit frustrating considering the rest of the figure looks so darn good. Maybe a 3rd party company can make some better "hotrod" style wheels to clip on if they are just mushroom pegs.

be cool if they made a goldish repaint of this guy and made a new version of Primus, maybe having the old body while giving him the kind of IDW head to make him a bit different
Wow! I wasn't super excited about this guy, but now I am. I love that he has no faux parts, and the trailer and turret look more fun than I expected. Still though, I think I'll hold out for a sale, since it's happened to all of the commanders so far.
After watching this review I immediately placed an order for this figure, always loved Rodimus Prime!

I can see both sides of this, Kingdom Galvatron looks like an absolute beast next to the others. I actually feel Optimus is a tad too lanky. Roddy looks like a great figure but he could've been maybe 8% more robust and I wouldn't have minded at all.
At the end of the day though Galvatron HAS to be bigger than Rodimus for me, so if the scale is slightly skewed I'm happy it's in his direction.
@Brian Babin Pretty sure Rodimus’ slightly wider stance makes him appear ever-so-slightly shorter than Optimus. He’s likely eye-to-eye with him. As for Galvatron, that’s Hasbro’s fault for making Galvatron too damn big.
I picked this guy up the other day, I can say I was very happy with it. I would like to make one correction in your transformation. The wheels on the shoulder are incorrectly transformed. You need to pop the wheel cover off the wheel and push it in further and the "wheel cover" pops into the little slot at the top of the wheel arch. Its number 20 on the instructions.
This is what I'm waiting to buy. Him and Galvatron.
You should add time stamps in the description for Vehicle Mode, Robot mode, each Transformation, and accessories, that would be really appreciated

Given the similar color scheme, it'll be a miracle if we even get Shattered Glass Hot Rod from SS86-4 Hot Rod, never even mind a new Rodimus Unicronus from this beast.

This figure is phenomenal. I know everyone keeps harping on the cab length, but TBH, I can't imagine any other way to engineer the cab without making the robot mode upper body squat and weird, or without making the cab mode a weird independent vehicle. I think it's the smallest compromise they could have possibly make, and TBH, I stop noticing after a few hours.
Probably surprisingly good for what it is, but he is still a premium WFC Leader with a jacked up price.
Was having a hard time transforming this guy until watching this video. It’s a great figure with amazing articulation. Great quality for a Hasbro figure.

I like this figure, but when i saw the DX9 Carry, I couldn't believe they managed a full transformation, including the "trailer," into a single bot mode with ZERO part's forming. Its the only reason I didn't purchase this guy. Still a fantastic figure, with lots of fun playability and storage.

the peg on the sword ain't an issue and honestly i like they have the option of storing it on his back and made it possible to flip the peg away so that it cleans up. I like putting swords on my figure's backs so I like the option but they still made the peg his away. That's awesome. I've never got a commander before but I'll have to go in for this.

This figure is DOPE! It’s everything I imagined it would. This is definitely a crowning jewel in the hat of HASBRO. A lil custom silver paint on his wheel rims and he’ll really pop even more! Excellent review, my dude!💯

Absolute Masterpiece. The actual Mp line has reached a dead end imo. Mp and third Parties are totally outshined by siege, earthrise, Kingdom and Ss86.

It was in the middle of the transformation when I saw the hands and immediately thought, "This is the end of the line, Galvatron!" and now - I must say - I am _very_ excited for this figure!!!!

Seeing this guys shows we need a Masterpiece Rodimus 2.0.
I mean, Rodimus prime is Supposed to be taller than his hot rod self, he grew larger in the movie too when he was changed. So his scaling with the studio hot rod figure seems spot on.
Nope, he is too short. Rodimus and Galvatron are supposed to be the same height. Unless the Galvatron toy is too big...

Comment will probably never get seen but the wheels open up and need to be pushed in so the tab on the wheel that opened will fit into the hole on the shoulder.
He should be a Leader Class but oh well.
And he's not supposed to be smaller than Galvatron. But that's Galvatron's fault as he's the one too big and off scale.
