Concerns about it being not worthy of leader class aside, I've been waiting for coronation scream for so long. 30 seconds only yes, but 30 of some of the best seconds of my childhood.
Do you guys wanna know the weirdest thing? At the time of Starscream's death in the '86 movie, Hasbro was still selling him on shelves! Meaning that Starscream's death in Transformers: The Movie wasn't because Hasbro stopped selling him; it was because Galvatron wanted to punish Starscream for his treachery!
I don't have a G1 Starscream, so this was definitely a great figure from my POV. I feel like these lazy repackages are ultimately for people who didn't get the previous ones. It really sucks for the other collectors though.
I love this Starscream. I am an original G1 - 10 year old kid rushing home to watch the Transformers series at 4pm in 1984. Everyday a new episode. I had all the original toys. This Starscream takes me back to my childhood. And this toy has accurately even got the Transformation right from original cartoon. And that 30 second clip from the 86 movie of the coronation scene was one of the best 30 sec of my childhood. This toy is One of my favorites in my collection. Thank You PrimevsPrime great channel.
You're wrong in so many ways. Actually seeing the movie in the theatre when I was 10, in 1986, this is the best Transformers toy that I bought since the original Soundwave and the Dinobots. I just got from Amazon three days ago, and I have not played and transformed an action figure as much as this. It's beautiful! The extra accessories are detrimental to his uniqueness. I took pictures of every angle in both transformations and am left in awe. It's worth the money for me. I had 90% of the toys, up until 1989. I can hear the Cobra Commander screaming at me(same voice actor). I agree that the Michael Bay newbies may not care about this action figure, but for a die hard fan, this is as good as it gets(Grimlock and Sludge 86 included). It's easy to be opinionated when you didn't cry with ever other kid seeing Optimus die and Starscream dump Megatron out the airlock like flushing a turd, in a theatre in the 80's. But I get it! You got to be real as to what you know, from when you got into this. But it was painful for me to hear the lack of connection from a reviewer of a toy series that has survived. This toy is so intricate and fun to just play with. The level of detail is amazing. The added coronation pieces make it well worth the price, but the years of smiling as I pass it by daily, on my mantle, is going to be a happy time warp to my youth.
Man I can't wait to get mine. I missed out on the ER one so I'm looking forward to this one. The problems this guy has don't really bother me that much. I ordered the Earthrise two pack of Skywarp and Thundercraker and they're coming soon so to have all three seekers is going to be really cool. Great work as always PrimevsPrime
Me too! I was considering getting this guy if he wasn't too expensive for what you get and overall he looks pretty decent, so I might still pick him up.
I also have the ER Skywarp and Thundercracker two pack that I got last year. Looks like they restocked it again a few months ago. It’s a cool 2 pack I also got the ER Starscream. I was glad when I saw the coronation Starscream today and I was able to purchase one.
For G1 folks who grew up on it, this is one of the must haves. I finally got mine today. I have the MP-52 but had to get the mainline version. Great review and your video are always high quality.
Precisely. The wings on mine would have broken long ago if they weren't designed to pop off. I can relax when the kids are playing with the toy because of this feature.
I'll be honest I really like this. I missed out on the earthrise mold because I prefer the siege version, but the minute this was confirmed I was fully on board.
My parents were never able to afford me a starscream as a kid. I just bought it for my son that is an 80s Transformers fan. It will be a truly memorable Christmas.
I kinda wish this figure was casted in a darker shade of gray like the MP-52 gray. Nonetheless, I’m still picking this guy up cause I also don’t have the Earthrise Starscream.
I would definitely buy this if I didn't already have ER Starscream. I think the leader price point makes sense for the amount of extra stuff. However, because I already have ER Screamer, I'm probably not going to buy this. They should have done a slight remold to slim him down and round him out so he fits the SS86 aesthetic better. I think most of the people this appeals to already have ER Starscream, and I don't know how many of them want to buy him twice.
I dont have the Earthrise Starscream, and when i was a kid i always want the MP Starscream 2.0 for the coronation set, i love that scene in the 86 movie
Mine is a display piece in the "Who disrupts" pose on my shelf. I love him so much. I have Ramjet and soundwave standing next to him and 6 constructacons lined up nearby. I just need Astrotrain to finish off the scene, then I'm getting WFC Galvatron and Cyclonus so they can fly in and disrupt it. I haven't even transformed Starscream yet. He looks too good in this pose.
Should have been repainted to look like when he was shot. Maybe even purple highlights for the energy effect as he was glowing. Dying expression would have been cool. You could then just put the accessories on your ER version if you wanted a living coronation version...
Just snagged this set at a roughly voyager-scale price in an after-holiday sale, which winds up feeling like a pretty good deal. It feels very appropriately "G1 Starscream" to sneak into Leader Class by just loading up on accessories. Probably going to get my inks out and do some panel-lining on the throne to bring out the details more.
Not bad, I will get this version just because Starscream is my favorite character. I would have loved that they added Skywarp's screaming face, it suits Starscream so well.

This is my first and only starscream I have at the moment, I was satisfied with it, but I would’ve only known the differences thanks to you. I really watch a lot of your videos for insight into something before I purchase it if you reviewed it.
In my opinion, R.E.D Coronation Starscream is a better alternative: You don't have to buy a near duplicate, it poses better, matches the toon better in looks, and has better hands, comes with blast effects, can have his gear and null rays plugged into the right place at the same tine, and costs less.
@@DarkScorch Yeah, but there's lots of good Starscreams that do, and if you already have Earthrise Starscream, you can transform that one; I don't think Coronation Starscream transformed in the movie? Also, as the other commentor said, RED Coronation set fits Earthrise pretty well. Edit: The shoulders move, but also the cape since it's attached, but can be adjusted properly when your done posing him.
Rumor has it they are doing skywarp but with an effect piece that is not unlike the stand that the silver surfer has in the Galactus pulse. It will allow you to pose the vehicle mode and be more or less a ball joint that allows you to pivot the plane. It looks awesome and it really pops when you have it.
Well sorry for inquiring but I do not believe that the siege is more accurate I believe it’s is more like “g1 but with a unique spin” But if you disagree please tell me I am curious
Just got this figure and this is amazing the Jet is bigger than I expected. The joints are a little tight in some places but it's still good. This figure needed wrist rotation but it's not a deal breaker, over all it's an amazing figure so happy I have him
Honestly I'm okay with Leaders being Voyagers with extra stuff. People complain they pay $50 for this but will shell out $30+ for a shitty "Upgrade Kit" that adds the same accessories. Of course many Upgrade Kits do justify their existence, but it's weird the standards Transformers fans have.

Here because I was browsing Best Buy website randomly and saw this Starscream on sale knocking off almost $16.00. Ordered it. Wouldn’t have at MSRP. Loved the movie and his 10 seconds of running shit. Iconic scene from my childhood. Great video review. I collect a lot of figures, toys, & statues. This will be my first Transformer figure. It has to be the OG series or movie. Don’t like anything else but the old school run. Thanks again for an exceptional video.

NGL, I held off for YEARS on getting any version of WFC Starscream because I was never fully convinced I wanted it. I got Classics 06, the second Masterpiece and a few others, and didn't want yet another version of the same guy. But with Coronation Starscream edition... the design, paintwork, crown, cape, throne and shoulder pads fully sold me. It helps I was a Unicron Trilogy kid, and Galaxy Force Starscream had that crown for half of that entire show, so it on this character SCREAMS (heh) iconic to me.
Wish they had figured out a way to had engineered a waist swivel then this would be a definite pick up for me but I'm still on the fence about this one because there are upgrade kits for this that has the same accessories for a cheaper price
I plan on picking this guy up because I only decided to collect some G1 guys in second half of last year so I don't have Earthrise mold. I decided I will pick the SS86 version because it will be the most complete version of Starscream. Also I want to give that throne to Megatron.

Priced down to about normal VOY class at this point, it makes good fodder for custom repaints - or Thundy & Sky, if you missed the twin pack like me. And it's cool to have the bridge chair from the Nemesis, even more so if you can pair it and a WFCx Megatron with the actual Titan class in the background and Soundwave by his side.
I've wanted a Starscream for a while, but never liked the price point of any of them. When I saw this, I liked all the pieces and an overall good transformer. But u waited till I saw it on clearance. Overall, it was about the price of the earth rise, but with all the accessories. I was ok with that. I don't have all the 86 series yet, but I would like to. This is about as close to masterpiece as I can afford, and be able to enjoy with my children.
Tbf. I do like this figure, i think it's a good way for People who missed Earthrise starscream but want a super articulated Cartoon accurate colored Starscream

I’m new to Transformers, and recently acquired ROTB SS Scourge. I am very impressed with Scourge, and I am going to get this so he can have a throne. I’m going to pose starscream in the family guy death pose in front of the throne

Actually, the nose cone for jet mode is animation accurate. Starscream's nosecone wasn't painted blue on screen.

If you paint the throne orange and slap a Toyhax Autobot insignia over the Decepticon one, it is literally Optimus’ chair on the Ark.

Priced down to about normal VOY class at this point, it makes good fodder for custom repaints - or Thundy & Sky, if you missed the twin pack like me. And it's cool to have the bridge chair from the Nemesis, even more so if you can pair it and a WFCx Megatron with the actual Titan class in the background and Soundwave by his side.
I've wanted a Starscream for a while, but never liked the price point of any of them. When I saw this, I liked all the pieces and an overall good transformer. But u waited till I saw it on clearance. Overall, it was about the price of the earth rise, but with all the accessories. I was ok with that.
I don't have all the 86 series yet, but I would like to. This is about as close to masterpiece as I can afford, and be able to enjoy with my children.

Tbf. I do like this figure, i think it's a good way for People who missed Earthrise starscream but want a super articulated Cartoon accurate colored Starscream

Honestly don’t care that it’s basically earth rise scream, never got the original and now can only get on eBay for far more than it’s worth so I’ll just pick this guy up, plus I want that throne

I only got my hands on Earthrise Optimus Prime and Kingdom Huffer, Inferno, Arcee, and Warpath. I'm hyped for Starscream with a chair.
Would be a lot less salty about gating the throne and accessories behind rebuying an old mold if they at least had given him a gray and black "Scorched" deco repaint as there is really no other time it would have made sense to give us one.

I’m new to Transformers, and recently acquired ROTB SS Scourge. I am very impressed with Scourge, and I am going to get this so he can have a throne. I’m going to pose starscream in the family guy death pose in front of the throne

might sound crazy but this figure caught my eye and was what started my collection of transformers.
I kind of wish the shoulder pads could be incorporated into alt-mode. They look like plane parts in a way.
Got this figure today brand new with no accessories for $3. Great figure!
