First Review of the new year! What? It's February!?
I've had some trouble getting myself in a creative mode. It wasn't that I had a lack of new figures to talk about, but rather I couldn't find anything worthwhile to say.
I wrote a handful of scripts for a few figures, as well as putting together some new ideas for new content, but nothing felt right. And I don't wanna push something where I'm either unable to relay my accurate thoughts or where I feel I'm wasting everyone's time.
My scheduling is incredibly loose and that's probably a bad thing. I also can't force myself to write all the time, but I have to try to push myself into that mode more often for the sake of this channel
Any way I didn't have many problems getting this one together, but it felt so inefficent since I had a lot of footage to get, and I had to keep going back to shoot more and more because I didn't have a clear vision of what this review would look like.
I was happy with the script mostly though, since it felt more like the direction I wanna strive for. Less formulaic and more detail oriented
That said, I wonder if it's enough. There isn't much I forgot to say, but it's kind of like "could I say more?" But again, I wouldn't wanna pad the videos with junk if I didn't have to.
However I'm concerned that it's not as funny or clever as my other reviews. I had something definitive to say, but trying to write comedy is really hard for me if a joke doesn't come naturally

I’m getting this because I never got the Earthrise figure and I’m happy the accessories come with it, I won’t have him displayed with the crown or the cape, but the throne will go to Megatron and this figure will be my earth starscream
Yeah I guess my main point for the video is that it’s not really worth it for people who have Earthrise Starscream but if you don’t then it’s not a waste
I have earth rise star scream but one of his wings and his blasters are missing so I want this and I’m using the throne for megatron and this star scream and galvatron

Now I want all the seekers in this mode for display.
It still disappoints me on how hasbro and takara refuses to give us a different mold for a coronation starscream, seeing as certain features on his body (like his shins being longer and his upper body being bigger) where way differently depicted in that scene than in any other scenes starscream was in, and I know g1 animation wasn’t the cleanest but they clearly kept him that way through our the scene for a reason, I may just be nit picking but I’ve haven’t yet to see a accurate coronation starscream that isn’t a rehash of a preexisting g1 starscream.

Personally, this release just proves to me that there is no genuine difference in design ideologies between both regular Generations (i.e. WFC Trilogy and now Legacy) and Studio Series 86. Like the only difference that I can think of between the two design wise is that most SS86 figures lack the majority of 5mm ports found on almost all Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom figures and even then most of the beast figures in Kingdom lack those same ports too. Let's be honest with ourselves; The only reason why SS86 even exists is because the figures made for it were originally meant for the final chapter of the WFC Trilogy before said chapter shifted its focus towards being a Beast Wars Revival.

@@Gei4Mei I mean if you don’t have the jet Starscream then get the coronation Starscream since they are both the same price and you get more for the same price. But if you don’t have the (I’ll call him space shuttle Starscream) space shuttle Starscream and you don’t want him to turn into a jet but just something that looks like it could fly then get Shuttle Starscream. Since it’s only 24 dollars less than half the price!
It seems to mainly just be to provide us with at least one version of every character from the movie in this one line. If that character already has a recent enough figure that they don't want or see the need to change then they will just make it more animation accurate. Personally I just hold off getting any g1 characters who were in the movie because I know we will eventually get slightly more accurate versions anyway or if we are lucky then maybe even new molds for characters who don't have as recent or as g1 style of a figure yet.
Speaking as a genuine fan of the earthrise Starscream, he has some damn good points. That is lazy and abusive to fans. The fact he can't sit in the chair and the crown?!! Just dirty
He deserves better!!
However, to be fair the chair is perfect for Jhiaxus, Galvatron, Soundwave and even Megatron.
But don’t pay full price for it!
I’m now imagining Starscream on his throne, Basic Instinct-ing, the decepicon army.
Luckily, he never got the chance in canon
It's weird, it's like... I do feel like the er starscream could've been better, I think about it a lot, and yet I still love that figure so damn much.

Funny, since they had to change bits of the die for this, they didn't bother to shave off bits of the knee strut that actually prevents the leg panels from collapsing flush.
They're supposed to, as you can notice two sets of tabs on both legs for Jet mode and bot mode, but the bot mode ones never get engaged because the knee strut is too proud to allow the leg panel to sit flush.
You'd have to take a knife and or file and shave the sides of that strut (I suspect someone added extra detail on top of the original knee strut geometry to mimic the crotch detail, which is about the amount that the leg panel sits proud) to get it to fit right.

Dammit. I really love this figure! But you’re right. I mean I’ll never sit him in the chair anyway but I literally bought this for the dynamic shoulder pads Japanese anime vibes and I love the crown and cape… the colors.

I don’t have any complaints with this figure honestly. Even though I love my Earthrise Starscream, I still needed to get this one because those new hands and the coronation gear really sold it to me. In all honesty, I definitely love this way more than my regular Earthrise Starscream. It invokes the cartoon colours very well and I think Hasbro did a good job. But that’s just my opinion anyway.
Just generally I think what it offers isn’t enough for me. The wow factor is in the accessories. I think they could’ve sold this as an accessory pack and made decent money
This is the BEST version of Starscreem to date. The chair is meant for Megatron NOT Starscreem. It's the same chair Megatron sat in on the Decepticon ship in the first episode of The Transformers💯👍

I agree with everything in this video... except the thing about the windowed box. I mean, did you see some of the awfully painted eyes on Kingdom Airazor? That alone makes me glad I can actually look at the things before buying them.
Also, thank you, Siege Starscream gets some crap for being a shellformer, but he's so well articulated and looks so much more unique compared to the hundreds of jet mode Starscreams, while still looking like Starscream. I will always defend my beloved robot butterfly.
Siege is such a great figure. I wanted to do a review on it sometime, so maybe I'll do Shattered Glass someday.
I personally love this figure, but I get why some people wouldn't like him. Love the review style

@@Gei4Mei I personally love him, I'm a huge Starscream fan, the only thing I wish he did have was landing gear, not even moving wheels, just landing gear, like CW Silverbolt. For me, he's almost perfect.
I appreciate your review, after watching it, I held off on buying this figure and later on got it at Ross for $14.99 plus tax. I guess it seems like a better figure when the price point is much lower. I can't get enough of Starscream but Hasbro needs to do better, especially at the prices we're paying for these figures. Keep up the good work!

The problem with the box without a window is that it makes scummy toy swapping easier.
Even if the store DOES check the box, the minimum wage customer service worker isn't likely to notice the subtle difference between the ER and SS86 releases, basically making this a free upgrade for those willing to do so....
I always advocate for checking the package when u buy bigger ticket items. As long you you plan on buying it it doesn’t matter
Otherwise, I think most serious collectors are shopping online nowadays
It would have been AWESOME if the set was dead Starscream and it came with all the stuff it comes with on top of some horns for the CW Constructions

I get the amount hate for this figure let alone the 86 Repack. However in my opinion I really love this figure. Surprisingly I only have the Earthrise Thundercracker and Skywarp. So like basically 86 is my only option to complete the Seeker Trio :p
I guess maybe I could’ve clarified that its only not worth it for those who have Earthrise. If its your first one, it’s probably fine. But try to get it on sale!!

I think that was a real turn-off for the whole of Earthrise for me, I was lucky enough to get the twin-pack of ER Skywarp and Thundercracker and I was gutted when I got them out of the box, a real drop off in quality in terms of the figure, I like the alt-mode (especially in black and purple) but the figure is just not good.
My daughter and I made a throne out of lego and we sit R.E.D. Starscream on it and all is fine.
I feel like I’m crazy; everyone likes RED Starscream but me!

The mold for this and earthrise is so disappointing, not generally bad, but just a letdown compared to the engineering they did with Cyclonus and the other G1 style characters. They could have made it so good like the others but decided to make it like an old figure's design. And it's just so jarring.

Bought a couple of these at Ollie's for $15 before Christmas because they were so cheap and a month later im still seeing them at Walmart for full price for $55 which is strange.
I "might" get him if he ends up at Ollies or Ross but, really since he never had a chair in the movie, I think using the R.E.D Starscream is a much better alternative if one wants him to be in coronation gear. May not transform but, more than likely one has a transforming Starscream too. Shame they couldn't do something like Cyclonus with the nose cone and well, everything else. *crying emoji*

I have seen this at Walmart kinda tempted to get it but they also have the R.E.D. line Starscream how do the different lines compare size wise? I got the R.E.D. Knockout I was hoping they'd put out Prime Starscream in that line but I didn't find too many characters from that show in this line.
They go back and forth between G1 and other series, so the only other one rn is Arcee. They’re all pretty roughly voyager height I think

Siege Starscream is easily the superior figure, but he’s definitely pricier now. If you don’t have any Starscreams at all you really could pick either

With the leaks of Hasbro releasing a Commander Class Ultra Magnus into the ss86 line, I SERIOUSLY hope they don’t do what they did to this Starscream and reissue the Kingdom Magnus Mold but with more accessories. Because that retool of the Siege mold was very VERY disappointing, even if the Shattered Glass version is quite lush.
The rumor that I heard described him as basically a remolded version of the MP, much like Grimlock was. So no inner robot, and the car hauler can hold cars inside
You convinced me to get my $53.62 back from Target tomorrow morning 😅 It would have been my first Transformer since I was a kid. Might get something else a little cheaper but better, any suggestions?
I mean, he’s well and good if he’s your only Starscream! I feel like with this review I should’ve clarified that I was mainly taking the perspective of someone who already had ER Screamer. As for other recommendations, pretty much all of Legacy right now is a solid pick in my eyes
I bought this figure because I missed out on the siege and earthrise versions and this is exactly how I felt about it! And to make matters worse, mine had a crack on the elbow only a week or two after I bought it. Earthrise QC, am I right?
My ER Screamer had a bunch if plastic flash on his skirt, which caused it to cracked when I moved his legs. Made me so mad
@@Gei4Mei uuugh! Yeah that sucks! Another problem with mine I forgot to mention was the excess plastic on the bicep joint, so the mushroom peg won't allow me to rotate the arm all the way
You could probably trim that up with an xacto
Something I hate is just how tiny the head is. Didn't become obvious until I had it in-hand, but it bugs me so much!
Well, this has to be the most articulate, insightful, and honest Transformers review I've ever seen! And the production value is great, I love the sound design.

The point of the articulated hands is for posing,not to hold anything;because every other figure with articulated hands look better with them closed,while this one looks better with them open.

They’ve changed a lot, even from like 2018. They streamlined the brand a bit with WFC Siege
Man, the very fact his hands open up is a winner for me. He's awesome for those of us who didn't have the previous release. Also, the chair was meant more for Megatron I think.
The opening hands are probably to recreate the pose where he swishes his cape and puts his palm outwards
Probably almost certainly but then I would’ve much preferred open hands with no finger joints and wrists swivels. They used to do practically every figure that way and now they don’t as often

While I held on to the idea that maaaybe SS86 wasn't an excuse to implement chug figures into the Studio Series, the fact that they're just shoving whatever Earthrise shit they haven't sold enough of into SS86 kinda makes that notion fall apart.
I hated a lot of figures that came out of Earthrise because they felt cheap and lazy and the fact that they're STILL trying to shove these things down people's throats is nuts.
Earthrise is gonna be the line that people don’t talk about in the future, I can feel it. And I like some of them, but aside from Optimus there aren’t too many must haves.

Here's where I ruffle feathers, cause I fully agree that this could have and should have been better..... But I'm still perfectly okay with it, cause even if I take this guy at surface level as just an accessory pack for a figure I had already, the price actually kinda works out (When I see extra swords and such being sold for $15/$20 each, there's no WAY a throne that big wouldn't run you the entire $50 on it's own). I also admit being a total Starscream simp though with like...... 50 versions of him. lol
I mean thats why I bought him lol. We’re the outliers when it comes to my opinions on it
@@Gei4Mei I've got some collector friends messing with me, since I don't even use the crown or throne for Scream, but I've actually put my Galvatron 2 on the thrown with the crown just hung on the back. It works shockingly well, but does make it funnier how well the throne works for basically everyone BUT the figure that came with it.

At 2:37, well that was something that I have to disagree, every figures released in Studio Series 86 line also has a super or extreme details which doesn't have in the animation so the Earthrise Starscream quite fits in the line.
I contend that the level of detail typically isn’t as complex as a Generations toy
@@Gei4Mei Generations toyline still has a mix of more cartoon/anime-esque proportion or even less details than the Studio Series 86 line, example was Deluxe Hound, Deluxe Arcee(Which ironically used half of the parts in Studio Series version), Leader Class Jetfire, etc. etc.
I'm gonna be honest while I like the Coronation Starscream way better than Earthrise the biggest problem I have with the mold is the hands, while though it's awsome he has operable hands my personally preferred Hands for my figures I wished Hasbro wasn't lazy and gave us optional Arms so we could have the regular fists or the Opening Hands I also think they should made the hands a bit more secure cuz they were a bit loose on mine and it's a pain when you have him holding weapons it's not unfixable but it shouldn't even be a problem overall he's not as big of a disappointment as Seige was ( I can't tell you how many times I've bought that damn mold and the Qc issues I had 1. Super tight wings one actually snapped off , a chest peice that continously pops off to damn much ) . At that point I was done the Best Tetra jet seeker mold will always be the 2012 Fall Of Cybertron Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp and the Bumblebee Movie Starscream and Thrust.
I honestly wish TFs had swappable hands too

What I hate the most about this figure is that it’s just not accurate to the show model. The ER fig is a stylized adaptation of the G1 mold, not a copy. I understand that the tail fins might be too hard to hide (the legs don’t have the tail fins in the cartoon). But that doesn’t excuse the amount of lines and details that this figure has. Even if they just removed the lines to make the figure look plain and simple, I’d be fairly happy. If they remodelled the figure to be more accurate somehow(no leg tail fins, more accurate crotch and proportions), this would be an epic figure

I got this version because I wanted a larger Starscream figure that was at least somewhat accurate to an F-15 Eagle in alt mode and because the Coronation Starscream was on sale for only 46 bucks on Amazon while the regular Earthrise one was going for 39, so I thought the 7 extra bucks was worth it for the accessories

I don't know, I feel I got a lot of value out of trying the parts on other transformers. I wish the shoulder pads were wider, so far only Bumblebee and Huffer can really rock them.( Bumblebee looks like he's getting ready for a Gundam cosplay.) Honestly the best part is how Megatron looks on the throne. I set him on there, and he's still there... the pride of my collection. Maybe that was the original intent? (Galvatron looks pretty good in it too, and Cyclonus loves his new cape.)
I think the chair is the same as was on the Nemesis so its definitely Megatron’s chair lol
How in GODS name did they NOT include landing gear for EITHER version?!
I bought this figure for second hand for 35 bucks and feel okay with the quality. The gap where his chest comes out and the hands the just pop up? The chair is nice for my other ones though

Sitting him on the throne was frustrating me when attempting to display him, mainly due to his back and the part of the jet head sticking out, and the accessories wouldn’t fit onto the chair (ex: the crown popped off the backside or I couldnt fit the shoulder pads in the bottom where they locked in pace because the stupid nub has to be so precise).
So instead I left his accesories on, i propped the background up, sat the throne on the stand, and made him pose standing on the chair with one knee bending on one of the arms and the other leg stretching back to rest on the other arm as he’s pointing his weapons around. Because fuck how they created some of the molds.
I wish I could get the accessories separately because I already have an earthrise starscream and also it should come with trumpets for the constructicons
Back when I first heard of this figure I really hoped it'd be a new mold with some shared parts á la ER Prime, or at least a very heavy remold like T30 Sandstorm. The Earthrise Seeker mold looks nice if you just glance at them, but it also has a lot of little niggling faults and limitations that have left me only getting Generations Selects Ramjet for those funky G2 colors. Kinda sucks the rumored SS'86 Arcee will most likely also be just the ER\Kingdom mold with maybe some new paint apps. Oh well, at least the Bumblebee one looks pretty sweet.

@@Gei4Mei On the bright side, with a design as popular as G1 Starscream I doubt we have to wait for long till they have another crack at him (though I doubt HasTak will be able to dethrone Siegescream as the best CHUG iteration of the character anytime soon).
I'm pretty stoked for the upcoming Legacy Armada Screamer as well. The T30 one was cool too, but that character really needs to be at least a voyager.
I was never the biggest fan of T30, so I’m definitely hoping for an upgrade

A good deluxe for the actual purpose of recreating an iconic scene.
A very small voyager to make it feel more like it's MP counterpart.
A very expensive voyager to actually raise the articulation quality.
And now an upscaled outdated deluxe.
3/5 on the "Quality" factor.
The best way to determine if articulated hands add quality value is to determine if the figure is good without them. Earthrise Optimus is a pretty big standard voyager Optimus with the notable feature of having a Matrix chamber, which is an appeal that is dwindling due to how many figures coming since also having a Matrix chamber, while also not being dragged down by having one. I've heard so many times that I should like it despite the dumb limitations all over it BECAUSE it has articulated hands, therefore I don't see them as adding quality, because it seems like they made the figure worse for it. Hot Rod is basically a downscaled version of his MP with better proportions. He comes with basically all the features from it. Without articulated hands he would still be an exceptional figure. The inclusion of the hands do feel like they add value, since he can hold the Matrix, which has a blast effect. Kingdom Primal is yet again a figure that feels like a downscaled MP, minus the complexity in the transformation, and the swappable faces. He would already have been a good figure without the hands. Rodimus is a voyager with a shit load of extras, but he is still a good voyager at the same time. Having the most articulated hands to date, and the price point of an actual MP carbot from 8 years ago, the hands again feel like an actual addition to quality. Starscream here goes back to the level of Earthrise Prime. It's main feature is turning into an F-16. Unlike said prime which at least has a lot of joints in it, Starscream falls flat, going back to the level we could expect from a figure from the prime wars trilogy plus ankle tilts. Adding articulated hands is an insult, because he can't even get into poses which the hands would expand upon an implied emotional body language. It's a shitty figure that they slapped two extra parts on to.

And I say this because the coronation set is probably the main reason people want this Starscream, but RED is already doing it for much less and still makes for a better display piece.
I would definitely enjoy swappable hands moreso than articulated ones. But honestly I don’t like RED Starscream that much so I haven’t bought him
Just got him for $28 on amazon, worth it for the throne and accessories even tho I already have ER starscream. Throne went straight to Tarn, and I guess the coronation stuff is kinda cool.

To be honest I got it to give the chair to Megatron or Jhiaxus, the Screamer is a bonus. I’ll customize it into G2 or some new made up character.

I don't see the point in buying a new Starscream for the open hands but I like the throne, crown and other accessories but in my opinion I'm fine with ER screamer
They need to start making more accessory packs! Do a couple a year
@@Gei4Mei Just swap ER Starscream and SS Starscream's head. If both are on a ball joint, it's as simple as popping a head from one ball joint to another. And even if it's one of those cylinder joints, just slide it off and onto another.

@@Gei4Mei well statscream in g1 was always into the dramatic because thats a small part that defines the character other than his lusting to take over and he gets destroyed in pretty much the most dramatic way possible.
Love the video, and I agree that this figure is bad comedy. The accessories are cool, but they are only there to aid the main figure, which as you said is very flawed. What I would have done was put the coronation gear in a Centurion Drone-esk package with a couple of other things like a blast effect for Galvatron, and some swords for the future Dinobots but I digress.

I'm just so baffled by this just being ER Starscream but with accessories to up the price. It's just an anomaly, like the majority of the 86 line(to my knowledge)has been either original stuff or retools. This just feels like a step behind.
That being said though, it's cool enough I guess.

Starscream is probably my favorite Decepticon! Yeah, I have the earthrise Starscream, so probably won't get this one. I feel sure there's some 3rd party mod pieces of the coronation gear floating around out there.
I like earthrise as a character to have for the cast, but I think I do feel siege does more right and the earthrise feels like that classics figure. That's cool and all, but I feel they really missed an opportunity to give us the ultimate new classics Starscream.
Also, honestly, I for real actually do think the core class Starscream is the best designed and most accurate for the look of starscream lately! 😅 He just looks right! Idk, man! If we could get that clever engineering from such a small toy, we could've definitely got him a upscaled version with a tons of more intricate details and engineering! Great stuff with these videos, man! 😁😆👍🏻

Nice presentation, but your facts are somewhat off. As much as I hate to say it, he is '86 Movie accurate. His colors are animation correct. The two silver parts painted are how he looked in jet mode. Also the Studio Series 86 line is just really an extension of WFC so for example SS '86 Jazz was repainted into Kingdom Jackpot. So obviously the line is interchangeable. Yes I will agree the Siege Seekers are far better but I still take the Earthrise seekers over the CHUG seekers anyday. Could they have made a better Starscream, probably, no I'll say we should have got that. Sometimes Hasbro is smart, and sometimes they are greedy. They could have been both greedy and smart, but they just took the lazy route. I suggested they just make the accessories and call it a day

@@Gei4Mei for me the red figures are just meant to leave alone on display. They are not action figures and don't act like a normal figure, for me it's like a ornament you put already posed up or laying down. And that's when it shows it's true value. The red figures are not toys but ornaments and if you treat it like an ornament then you can see its true worth. Cause you can see mine just sitting on that starscream throne and gosh it's great.
