This is an amazing TFOne Optimus Prime figure, no doubt. I'd hope they make a Megatron figure but considering they only did one character for the previous film, that being Optimus Primal, I don't think they'd make any of the other characters. And the level of engineering in this TFOne Optimus figure is so good, shame the other characters won't get this level of treatment.
Saw it the night before on the 19th. I never go to the night before premieres, but it was totally worth it. Loved all the Easter eggs and the way they melded old lore and made it practically seamless. Transform and Roll Out!
My main issue with this is the windshield. It's designed after Orion's truck mode, but when he becomes Optimus, the windshield changes. Studio series has the correct look in that regard. This also results in his chest being proportionately small due to it needing to hide away in favor of the inaccurate truck mode windshield.
Bar none the best review video for this great figure I just got here in Japan- thank Primus for Takaratomy they never fail us! This video is so good I couldn’t help getting a dozen different screenshots of your photography angles, for my personal archive. 10/10 review!
It was understandable they had a young sounding Orion Pax and even Optimus Prime in this one. He was young and hadn't been through a lot of war to be hardened. I agree though, maybe they should've had Cullen's voice narrating parts like old Prime was remembering his start. Would've made a good transition.
In Akihabara there on the main road there is a Surugaya (figure & model chain) that has a few of them on the shelf as of today I was just there. Yodobashi Camera (large chain) has the best price but their stock is usually depleted in stores for this figure. As I reside in Tokyo I actually just got mine from Yodobashi Camera online shop today, price was equivalent to USD $52.00. Toysrus stores in Tokyo area have stock too I believe. I’m not sure if you’ve arrived in Japan yet but have a great trip !

@Collector_Phil. Was able to find one in Tokyo at this whole in the wall store called red mercury near Ueno station. Nice hidden gem of a store. Had a lot of transformers both new and old. Definitely worth checking out
I understand that having a fake chest is so it can have a more screen accurate design, but i still hate fake chests, especially when the real truck front covers over the fake chest at the exact spot.
I love the studio series (which upon seeing the movie, desperately needs a repaint btw) but this takara figure looks super fun, and is closer to the movie’s design/color scheme. And that golden matrix is *PEAK* !
I love how cringe the transform and roll out is because it’s his first time saying it. Excited to see the differences in and evolution of the characters between this first and the third movies.
the vehicle mode looks amazing but my deal breakers are the price and the shoulders being on pins. A more minor con for me is the faux cab head, I never liked faux parts and also how small the chest is in robot mode. I wish they make a voyager or even a leader version with the engineering of the hand placement of this one. I can definitely compromise on the guns in vehicle mode and the leg transformation
Preordered this day one, as it's by far the best we'll get from this version of Optimas Prime. Really like the face swap gimmick, and pop out blasters. This and his impressive size, and bulk really do feel like a mid 2000s Leader. I feel it would be a real miss if they don't do Megatron in this scale.
Now see thats how a prime should be made i had alot of issues with the SS prime the legs were done so lazy to me as simple as that transformation legs wise it was still better to me and at a little better price point. But still takora tommy always pulling out the stops. But yea nicely done this one I might pick up might even get a 3rd party idea to fix the shopder but looks fantastic regardless
10:16 I’m in a minority, but I like the coloring of the Studio Series better. It looks more real, like DolbyVision vs Standard Range (SDR). That said, I’ll still be getting this 😊.

The pre-yellowed plastic on the SS Prime continues to drive me up a wall. Takara's transformation is better/cleaner and proportions aside, it's fun and looks good.
I think they might do a Megatron but honestly I think be and Elita will be fairly up to scale with their deluxe class forms compared to this beauty which I’m waiting on a copy I ordered that should be here in a few days
Adding to this, I got mine in the mail yesterday, and I gotta say great figure, but yeah the shoulder joints need to swapped to ones with stiffer movement. The shoulders could also admittedly down downsized a bit. Also I noticed the axe comes out of his hands easy when you move his arms around and as such could use a slight recolor and redesign. All in all though amazing figure, and those slight flaws don’t ruin it for the figure, but hopefully DNA design comes up with a kit that fixes these issues
The figure looks incredible, but those shoulders being on pins is a bit of a dealbreaker for me. Those are not going to age well. Great review, really gave me a good understanding of this Prime and helped me in deciding whether or not to purchase this figure.
The right shoulder of my copy was way too loose from the beginning, so I coated it with varnish to tighten the pin joint. However, since this toy uses relatively soft plastics, the shoulder bar couldn’t resist the tightness during the first transformation and got some ugly scars on it. Now I can make poses out of it without any problems, but boy it was so disappointing for a big handsome toy. I hate this big pin shoulder soooo much.
Out of the next 3 upcoming Studio Series one figures, which one are you most excited for Personally, I’m excited for Sentinel and I wonder if he’ll be completely movie accurate 😉
Wow! You are one of the few people that likes the SS version. At least the SS version is 20 dollars while this figure is 80 dollars, that's so expensive. The terrible QC of the backpack and the loose shoulders doesn't feel worth the price
I’m a big believer Transformer need to make the toys first then incorporate the toy into the show. Any other time I would hate this figure because the bed of the vehicle mode is crappy, but because it’s very close to screen accurate I’m ok with it.

Fun fact! For ss Tf one optimus you can slowly swivel the backpack off, and it looks so much cleaner (you can put it on again)
