Thanks for the video! I just purchased one of the newest Nitro 5 laptops and will doing some of these same things and it's awesome to see how easy the Acers are to work with! As soon as you touched the back cover I was screaming "you forgot the ram" (but in all caps)! The battery was also still disconnected when you threatened to pull the cord because "the battery is full."

Great video Dale I so wish you were over here in Liverpool UK I have a HP Omen X 17 laptop which will not power up at all and cant seem to find anyone good enough to sort it out.I'm sorry for Your loss and hope grinding out these videos keeps you focused.
Thanks for sharing so I can do this myself. Bought a new Nitro 5 and upgraded the ram and PCIe to the Samsung Pro 980. It’s a great laptop but now it’s friggin awesome 👏

Hey Dale I´ve just got a new Nitro 5 AN515-58 and because of your video I learnt how to install my old Asus ROG 2.5" HDD properly to my new laptop and it is running very fast, I hope I'll be installing a 1Tb SSD next tuesday thanks for sharing your expertise in the subject, regards from Mexico City God bless you and your family

Very helpful video - I haven't opened up a laptop or pc in 12 years so was very nervous to updgrade my Acer Nitro! I've just ordered my SSD and DDR4s... man's going to be busy this weekend.
btw Dale, if you do see my comment - I would like to throw in a SATA drive and move my OS into that with essential softwares only (like Office, Chrome, etc.) and leave the SSDs for gaming and graphics/video software. Would you recommend this? Appreciate feedback from others reading this. Thanks!

This thing started off good for me but after like a week with it, everything goes so slow and i get a random black screen that lasts like 5 seconds before going back to normal. Now it's to the point i need to pray and hope today my laptop isn't laggy which is stupid that i need to worry about that on a new laptop
The repair place told me it’s impossible to clone one drive to another. That leaves me a little lost. They do good work and def know what they’re doing when I needed a cleanup and more RAM added. And other work I’ve had done before. I’m confused.
Could you put the factory 512 SSD in the 2nd slot and have both?
Great informative video, thanks for sharing. Could you please tell me if it is possible to upgrade a nitro 5 core i5 CPU to a core i7. I recently toasted my CPU by sending 25v into t he USB port when working with an Arduino CNC shield by inserting the motor driver backwards 😥. I have now bought a new Nitro 5 but rather than throw out the old one I may get the processor replaced either for an i5 or if possible an i7. Or do you think that there may be many other blown components on the MB? Thank you.
Do you have to copy the SSD? Or can you leave the old one plus the new one in the second slot to combine the storage and speed?

So that way i will have 2.5tb m.2 ssd and the 980 pro samsung will be for windos and rendering programs and the factory one will be for data and else ?
Hey. Nice video. I have a Acer Nitro 5 2022 with ryzen5 6600H and 140w 3060 6gb. I can only use two m.2 ssd and not 2.5 disk. I have 16gb ddr5 4800 ram. Can i update ram to ddr5 5600 or 6000 MHz? You got a new sub🙂 And should i put my 1tb wd sn850 1tb in the main m.2 slot and the 512 gb in the second slots like you did? Or have i two 4 gen slots maybe? I dont find out that. AN515-46-R7J3 is my modell.😊
Morning Dale, I have a nitro 5 an517-51 with 16GB and ~250gb SSD
I want to upgrade it to 32gb and more storage but I’m unsure if I can just buy another 16GB ram and slot it in or if I’d have to buy 2 of the same 16gb ram?
Also would you upgrade anything else while I’m at it?

I was using a different tutorial before yours and I popped the RAM out before doing anything with the power supply. I put the new RAM in just right, but now it won’t power up. Did I fry my system?
Hey, which phillips or screwdriver you use for remove theM.2 Sdd screw?
I always forget to put either the ssd back in or the ram and have it all back together and then have to take it back apart
hi, does any nitro 5 (ie intel i12500h) supports a 2tb would be max 1tbd unit? i read in acer forum for a previous nitro model that would be only 1tb max. thanks

You need to install a clean windows 11 into the new ssd. If you decide to remove the old storage drive
How did you deal with ram slowing to 2933 when both slots are used up? one slot will run at 3200, but as soon as you use both it slows to 2933. Did you overcome that at all?
My Nitro is the same, bought 2 16gb 3200Mhz ram to replace the standard single 8gb 3200Mhz, And they show running at 2933Mhz as well.

@@davidc3150 i put a gen 4 samsung ssd in mine. there is a gen 4 ssd slot and a gen 3 slot. It works in both slots but you want to put it in the gen 4 slot after you clone the original ssd it came with which is 512 gb gen 3 ssd.
anyone know if the motherboard supports setting the ram in the bios at 3200MHz ? currently at 2933 mhz.

It says on the Amazon listing that this gpu the 3050 ti on this laptop has 6 gigabytes of vram, hopefully it does or I wouldn't have just purchased it.
No it has 4gb. The 3060 has 6 gb
These laptops are horrible, save yourself the nightmare and select any other brand instead. Horrible SATA connector for 2.5" HDD/SSD, crappy quality fans and heatsink - fans will likely be the 1st things that you will need to replace in 1-2 years. I've worked on many types of laptops, this ones is by far the worst I've ever worked on. Steer clear IMO.
