I see alot of people talking about how bad the sound quality is on the nitro 5, I thought it was bad also until I was going through all the programs in the start menu and found one called DTSX Ultra. After turning this feature on, it now has some of the best sound quality I have ever heard. It's a massive difference, night and day.
Excellent review, keep up with the good work! I’ve been using an “updated” version of the Nitro 5 with RTX 3060, and Ryzen CPU. Microcenter had the 17” version of this laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800, 16 gig of DDR5 Ram, a RTX 3060 and a 1TB SSD drive for $999 last month. Picked it up and I’ve been very happy with it. Fans don’t get too loud on default mode, highest temp so far playing Warhammer 2 was about 70 degrees. If you crank the fans on Max mode they cool down the machine quickly after playing.
Oh wow, that is a lot of testing, man. The screen and sound are pretty rough on this one (as expected though). But hey, it can work out for people who don't use it mainly anyway. Some people use an external monitor and the laptop's screen is just for chatting, discord, reddit, or open some wiki pages. Sound is fine with a headphone. So, they don't have to pay the premium price for everything (which is the point of a "budget" laptop).
Yeah that was my thinking too Pisacha. For people that already planned on speakers and headphones as well as an external monitor, its kind of a no brainer if they don't have much money

Great review. Keep it up homie…. Can you do a single review of the same laptop (2020 version) as I’d want to get that by Xmas ? I believe that’s the 9th gen and has more red on its body .
Thanks for the videos, just bought a nitro 5 17 inch laptop, was think about using a external drive for game. I saw you are using a usb 3 hdd. I was think of getting usb 3 ssd. My question is, is that necessary. Is the speed of hdd good enough, or does it make loading slower, and sudden freeze during gaming, since is not connected internally?
As long as you have enough ram the advantage of a SSD over a HDD is still just a convenience of faster loading times. Once loaded the game will run the same. The loading time difference however gets more severe the never the titles get so its best to get those on a SSD and keep the HDD as a data hog for "older" games. Still use a 5tb western digital 2.5" HDD connected via USB on my HP pavilion ryzen7 rtx 3050 non ti laptop which stores most of my games. The build in 1tb nvme+ 1 tb SSD are reserved for games that have either a lot of stuff to load or plenty of small files (battletech with rogue tech mod is awful loading from a HDD with it's gazillion files) On my Acer nitro i have a 4tb and 8tb SSD connected via USB and those run pretty similar as the build in 4tb SSD, there is no stutter, lag or anything.
I've had mine since 2018 and it's been good, apart from recently crashing for no reason but I was able to install a fresh copy of Windows. But the sound is atrocious and would be the #1 reason why I'd never buy this laptop again. The sound card is all sorts of crazy. My Skullcandy Hesh 2 headphones work fine and actually produce a decent, smooth, rounded-out sound for all music genres --- but any other headphones I've tried with this don't work. I bought some Skullcandy Venue headphones (almost $200) and when paired on this laptop it's a crackling, hollow mess. The headphones aren't broken because they work on my tablet and phone beautifully, so it's the crappy sound on this laptop. It's a shame I have to send these great headphones back because of this junk audio card/driver/whatever.
It seems as though some people have found a work around that has already given them the ability to have a mux switch. Even though dell has not done that themselves yet
Not sure exactly how it works, but the HDMI logo has to be used if the component has a HDMI port...also manufacturers have to pay to use an HDMI port, unlike DP port...something to do with HDMI being licensed or something, LoL, but ya that's why the HDMI logo sticker is on pretty much everything..afaik
I still love my M 17. Another great video (I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record). But these laptops, for some, will be the difference between having a gaming laptop or not. 😉
I don't know if this will get answered now, but would this be a good laptop to use for streaming games? I play most of my games on Xbox + Switch so I need a laptop that will be able to process/broadcast the game capture well!
Hey I’m buying my first gaming laptop I’m looking for the coolest run and best fps not overly bothered about amazing displays. So I’m torn between the nitro 5 3050ti i5 16gb ram for 750 or do I spend a bit more and go for the 3060 ryzen 5 for £1000 sorry bit of a noob. Not want to spend thousands on my first gaming laptop.
I valued the 2 nvme + 1 2.5" drive over a larger battery. Heck if i would want maximum battery/mobility i would buy a 250 bucks intel celeron. Laptops like this are more mobile desktop replacements then anything else. Yes battery is nice but... more of a 2nd thought.
I heard about the benchmark(cinebench) scores are getting higher when connected with charging adapter and powered on and are getting lower when using battery power (without using charging adapter) on Acer nitro 5 Intel model(i5 11400h) ,is that true? ,can you check it.
Hey sankar, yes that is true. You will always get better performance when plugged in with any laptop vs only using their battery as the battery cannot supply the GPU and CPU with power fast enough for top performance
@@JustinTechTips But comparing the intel model with amd model ,the amd model scored same higher scores as when on battery power as well as connected with charging adapter, but Intel model scored higher when connected with charging adapter but scored low when on battery power ,so that's what I need to know as it is true or not ? and the benchmark scores (cinebench, geekbench) you have shown in the video ,is it battery powered or connected with charging adapter ? and this is what I need to know but didn't asked the prior question clearly.
Kinda late here, but i got the nitro 5 eagle i7-11800h and RTX 3050ti version 2 years ago and still love it eventhough the place where i live didnt have the 2022 version so its kinda make me thought about my choice 😅

I'm looking for a laptop to learn CATIA and Matlab but my knowledge in laptops is not that great, with a laptop like this or maybe the ASUS TUF or HP Victus would I have enough computer? Thank you!!!
Should i get the msi ge66 with i7 10875h and rtx 2070 or the hp omen 15 ( 2021) with i7 10750h and rtx 3070 max q ?hopefull i get an answer very soon 🙏
So this one amzn.to/38FEdHF vs this one amzn.to/3kO7Gow ? That's actually a tough call. Me personally when they are this close, I like to go with the newer gen version. So I would go with the HP Omen 15

Yeah They are expensive :( Now i using almost 5 years (bought in 2016 December) laptop Acer Aspire V Nitro (that have Black edition text on touchpad) Thanks for attention :)
Also if you did not know this the nitro 5 is perfect for vr gaming but it can have ups and downs in vr gaming like how it is glitchy sometimes but I would think that’s expected because its just a laptop
i have a nitro 5, i710750h rtx3060 and one msi raider ge66 i710875H rtx 2070 and can tell you that the nitro its not mean to be used for vr gaming, acer image glitch and low the fpscompared with the msi that perform better in all the cases, for example, vrchat on nitro gave me around 20-40 fps, vrchat on msi gave me 50-70 fps with same conditions of gaming, both have 32 gb of ram from crucial nitro 5 gave me 45-70 fps on call of duty modern warfare, msi gave me 190-240 fps on ultra OC mode
@@jhoanzus3578 what’s msi and no most games run at 70 fps as long as I download the nivida experience thing every time I turn on my pc I have the Intel nivida 3050 ti one and if I use steam vr or my game is doing something really big I might drop the fps to 60 or 50 for a few seconds and my latency rises for a minute
Hmm, I haven’t had too much experience testing out the desktops yet and haven’t used the Corsair desktops yet so I’m not sure about that. I plan to do more desktops as the channel gets bigger

But i mean you can always return it to the store and they give you money back, atleast in my country We have 14 days period where you can return it and They must give you money back or give you instore credit etc.

I have bought myself an Acer Nitro 5 N20C1 model 2 years ago, I love it!
YOU ARE UNDERRATED men.
hope you have more subscribers
Thank you so much G J! I really appreciate your kind words!
I can agree the sound is as loud as a window air conditioner. I hate having to choose between them sometimes
You just got your self a new subscriber ma dude👍🏽😎💯
good video brother then .. if you recommend it for today's games?
looks decent, i am considering buying one, does it run the old total war games well?
Nice review I’m thinking about getting one and also we’re you cloud gaming on those games or were those ones you downloaded?
sorry for the late reply Caleb. Those were all downloaded. My tests are always on the PC itself to show what it can do
The Best buy exclusive version was actually really good. I got it for 850 came with 16gb of ram, 512gb ssd, and an i5 12500h. I believe the best upgrades are to the ram and sound mine gets extremely loud
Nice channel. Keep the videos coming. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub Joel! Glad to have you on the channel!
Just picked one up used, like new for $350. I'm super happy with it
Hey just wondering can it run valorant at good fps?
@@Xotiic_Creations run great, plays anything I throw at it well enough. I've even been playing some palworld
@@motamage any specific Triple A games?
@@Xotiic_Creations the newest game I've played is probably Assassins creed Valhalla, definitely playable. I upgraded to a nvme SSD, and 32gb of RAM from 8 though

Please reply which one should I buy- Acer nitro 5 i5 11400h or hp victus ryzen 5 5600h both having almost same price and having gtx 1650. Gaming is not my priority. I want for music production and productivity related stuff.
I bought the 3050Ti Variant for 500$ brand new sealed still in box from a junkie 😂😅. I love it!! I was going to buy a ps5 but I was distracted since I previously owned one. So I bought me a laptop for gaming and media consumption!!!
Congrats Batman! I’m glad you’re enjoying yours!
I searching this video for 2 to 3 months......thanks for this video...
I bought myself an Acer Nitro 5 3050 RTX along with a Roccat mouse and keyboard. it will be my first gaming PC.
Can't wait to get this laptop next month! I'm halfway there
Did u get it?
Very detailed review, this brand is very popular in my country, thanks :D
Glad it was helpful for you reiko!
This review is awesome 😍😍😍
Thank you Lakshmi!
im looking to upgrade mine which has a intel core i5 10th gen and a 3050 and i wanted to know what was the upgraded ram you used so i can buy also really loved the vid.
Hey LORD BRISK! Sorry for the late reply. Here's the RAM I recommended for this. Either one is great
Crucial 1Rx8 RAM: amzn.to/3i0SnZ9
Samsung 2Rx8 RAM: amzn.to/3CH57ff
I like the upgradability of the laptop. excellent detailed review
Great review. Keep it up homie…. Can you do a single review of the same laptop (2020 version) as I’d want to get that by Xmas ? I believe that’s the 9th gen and has more red on its body .
Thank you Youngbent! Unfortunately with all the future videos I have scheduled and lined up, I probably won't be able to review that one anytime soon.
Is the 15 inch big enough for FPS gaming ? Ive never had a gaming laptop and the 17 inch version is only €50 more in Holland.
Yeah Rifet Okic, I honestly prefer 17" myself
The build in 1tb nvme+ 1 tb SSD are reserved for games that have either a lot of stuff to load or plenty of small files (battletech with rogue tech mod is awful loading from a HDD with it's gazillion files)
On my Acer nitro i have a 4tb and 8tb SSD connected via USB and those run pretty similar as the build in 4tb SSD, there is no stutter, lag or anything.
Themmmm this video must had to be hard to do, thanks for the effort, helps a lot to chose the ideal laptop
Glad it helped Jesus!
It's a shame I have to send these great headphones back because of this junk audio card/driver/whatever.
o wow even with headphones it doesn't sound good? Maybe usb headphones or bluetooth?
Excellent job justin 👌👏👏👏
Thank you jojox! This one took the longest because of all the extra testing so it's great that people are appreciating it!
@@JustinTechTips yeah.. Your dedication is another lvl bro..
And I just want to know is x17 getting a mux switch..
Did not know that! Thanks for the input that makes a lot of sense now lol.
People complaining about this beauty are clueless
I still love my M 17. Another great video (I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record). But these laptops, for some, will be the difference between having a gaming laptop or not. 😉
It doesn’t bother me if you say something similar to something you’ve said before Tiggzg! I just appreciate you commenting!
Wow battery life sux.. excellent review thanks
I have the gtx 1650 and i5 11400H but I can’t even get 144 fps with the lowest possible settings what am I doing wrong?
Thank you so much your the best :)
But pls can you try to bring the RTX 3050 version pls and thank you
Hey TAGxJoker I do have a 3060 HP Victus which is pretty cheap too that is coming in this month. That’s a great one to look into as well
I bought the same with Intel I7 and a RTX 3050 . I'm satisfied. Reasonable price and quality.
Great review. New subscriber
Thanks for the sub Daniel! Glad to have you on the channel!
Thank you very much. What is the best laptop you have ever worked with?
My favorite is definitely the Alienware x17
Alienware x17: bestbuy.7tiv.net/qnEezb (3070 version)
Alienware x15: bestbuy.7tiv.net/VybLO6 (3070 version)
Great video!
Games such as Planet zoo, Planet Coaster or Sims 4, would it be good?
Yeah Kat David, it should work fine with those games
I don't know if this will get answered now, but would this be a good laptop to use for streaming games? I play most of my games on Xbox + Switch so I need a laptop that will be able to process/broadcast the game capture well!
Hey noleeness, unfortunately I think this one isn't powerful enough to do that well
Hey I’m buying my first gaming laptop I’m looking for the coolest run and best fps not overly bothered about amazing displays.
So I’m torn between the nitro 5 3050ti i5 16gb ram for 750 or do I spend a bit more and go for the 3060 ryzen 5 for £1000 sorry bit of a noob. Not want to spend thousands on my first gaming laptop.
This is cool.. I have a little question about the keyboard, it stay only red ..? Or is it possible to change the color ..?
you can change the color with the acer menu
@@stuckdreamin_cool thanks._
Please suggest me 🙏 which one is best 2020 or 2021 ?
I would go with the 2021 version
Great review. To me, I really like the sportscar design. 😎

Awesome review bro 💪🏽
Thank you Latron!
@@JustinTechTips You’re welcome!
🙂
I valued the 2 nvme + 1 2.5" drive over a larger battery. Heck if i would want maximum battery/mobility i would buy a 250 bucks intel celeron. Laptops like this are more mobile desktop replacements then anything else. Yes battery is nice but... more of a 2nd thought.
If you saw my story on his other acer nitro5 video you are a legend
LOL yeah I liked your story. Congrats on your new laptop! When does it come in K1YAN. Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment
Hi can you do a review on the Acer Nitro 5 variant with RTX 3060, Intel core i5, 512gb of SSD storage, and 8gb of RAM?
justin can you 1 day do a Comparrison video for the Acer Nitro 5 vs HP - Beats Special Edition 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop
At this point idc if it’s consider slow 😭 I’ve been playing on a windows 7 for 6 years now, I think I’m good with anything 😂
Both Intel and AMD reduce power to the CPUs on battery, the AMD is more efficient on battery.
Kinda late here, but i got the nitro 5 eagle i7-11800h and RTX 3050ti version 2 years ago and still love it eventhough the place where i live didnt have the 2022 version so its kinda make me thought about my choice 😅
do you think getting a Acer Nitro 5 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7-11400H, RTX 3050 4GB will be good? btw its 144hz and 16gb
Is this model any good with these specs ?
Intel Core i7-12700H Processor
Nvidia GeForce GTX 3060 6GB DDR6
16GB ram
512GB SSD
yes
Can you play the oculus quest 2 on the Acer Nitro 5 - 15.6" Laptop Intel Core i5-10300H 2.5GHz 16GB RAM 512GB SSD W10H ?
Hey Tonishea, unfortunately you won't really have a great experience with oculus on a machine like this
Do you know where to buy a different charger for this laptop so I can actually plug to my wall sockets?
I bought the nitro 5 with i5 11th gen and rtx 3050, 16 gb ram, it schould arrive tommorow.
Well actually I have a pc with a rtx3080 ti, but I need the laptop sometimes when i have to study or work in another city
Congrats Osama Shaheen!
@16bit Classics well its doing good, but i dont use it all the day so i dont kniw how it will be under long use
So which one is better ofr gaming and recording?
Actually let me rephrase my question below. What’s the coolest run nitro 5 for 1000 and under?
Thank u so much , and also does it stay fine even if u play like 3-4 hours on it with like red dead redemption 2 for example ?
Yep! I ran several hours worth of benchmark tests and it never got that hot
Great review thank you.. lol about sound quality, least of the worry if wearing headphones anyway :D and (edit) yes i just need a bargain laptop that can handle editing and adobe suite this is overkill for what i need and bonus it's cheap!! nice
Yeah it really is a great laptop for that price!
Nice just subbed
Thanks for the sub ICHIKA! Glad to have you on the channel!
Which one I should buy intel or amd
If Acer Nitro series laptops still gamers kind laptops then maybe Predator series is soper gaming laptop series? Or which better Nitro or Predator at this time? :)
Hey Vilius, Predator will be faster than this one but more expensive
Yeah They are expensive :( Now i using almost 5 years (bought in 2016 December) laptop Acer Aspire V Nitro (that have Black edition text on touchpad) Thanks for attention :)
Great video
Look at Dell's deal on the G5 with rtx 3050/3050ti on sale for $750
Wow thanks for sharing that EMP! That’s a crazy good deal!
were these plugged in when testing
Also if you did not know this the nitro 5 is perfect for vr gaming but it can have ups and downs in vr gaming like how it is glitchy sometimes but I would think that’s expected because its just a laptop
i have a nitro 5, i710750h rtx3060 and one msi raider ge66 i710875H rtx 2070 and can tell you that the nitro its not mean to be used for vr gaming, acer image glitch and low the fpscompared with the msi that perform better in all the cases, for example, vrchat on nitro gave me around 20-40 fps, vrchat on msi gave me 50-70 fps with same conditions of gaming, both have 32 gb of ram from crucial
nitro 5 gave me 45-70 fps on call of duty modern warfare, msi gave me 190-240 fps on ultra OC mode
I just need laptop for watching movies and video editing. Is it good for video editing?
Nice video!!
Thanks Sok Khan!
imo at this price point unless you have to have a gaming laptop no matter what then i would suggest series x or ps5 if you can find one.
Yeah LC Jammer, if you only want to game that's a better route if you already have a computer
You should definitely keep this laptop plugged in charge while gaming it some how doubles your performance
Its because the Nvidia chip only powers on while plugged. When on battery you're playing on the intel integrated graphics.
I already have nitro 5 with RTX 3050 Ryzen 7 but i like this video.
Just wanna know should I get a Corsair vengeance i7200 with a rtx 3090 and Ryzen 5950x or a alien aurora with rtx 3090 and ryzen 5950x
Hmm, I haven’t had too much experience testing out the desktops yet and haven’t used the Corsair desktops yet so I’m not sure about that. I plan to do more desktops as the channel gets bigger
@@JustinTechTips ok I learned more about pc and I’m gonna try a AMD pc but with 2 rtx 3090 does that sound like a overkill pc
