    Can’t wait to see the finish seats. I like the idea of blue deviated stitching but then it open up the flood gates of matching dash and door panels.

    Great video JAMES; is there any chance you can do a separate video on replacing the 996 seatbelt receptacles, as I am about to order those for my 2001 911 and would appreciate any help I can get.
    I am ordering them from Suncoast Porsche and I cannot see where the wiring harness ends or plugs in that comes with the replacement or on my existing receptacle.

      Hi John, yes! In fact I have replacement seatbelt receptacles ready to install. I'm just waiting on my seatbelts and seats to come back. Hopefully in a week!

    The 2000s fad of wearing “designer” jeans with all the metal crap has done a number on the seat bolsters of many cars from this era

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  2 года назад +1

      As much as I like some of the aftermarket seats, I think they take too much away from the classic look of the Porsche interior. I know that might sound off coming from someone who likes to modify his cars, but aftermarket seats and steering wheels are too far for me personally, as cool as they look.

    Thanks for the video, I am planning to recover my seats also and now I’m not afraid to take them out. Are you going to do anything special? Logo embossed or embroidered? Staying as close to stock as possible?

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  2 года назад

      Hey Lou! I've got an overall budget to manage, so I have to be a little conservative with big ticket items BUT I love the idea of doing the logo embossed onto the head rests. Other than that though, I'm just trying to make the stock chairs factory fresh.

    I have so many questions. What kind of lift is that? How do you like the RaceDeck flooring? And where did you find the Porsche lettering for the wall? That’s it so far lol.

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  2 года назад +2

      Hey Mike! Got the lift from Toolots.com but if I had the chance again, I would buy the exact same thing from TwinBusche USA. RaceDeck flooring AWESOME and the letters are from CustomGarageDesigns.com !

    It is a beautiful color!! Next DIY needs to be to put some sort of cap over the nut on the rear wiper. Looks unfinished. And is it me, or does the thumbnail pic say “Pt. 2”? I was about a minute in a half into it today when I realized “this is the same video I watched yesterday!”

      As for the rear wiper - you’re right. I actually have several pieces of missing trim on the way for there, the wiper / cowl area and the interior.

    I'm very interested to see what sort of price range this cost because my boxster needs similar love and attention on its seats.

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  2 года назад

      I’ll provide a proper run down of costs in Part 2 of this video but the driver’s seat it going to cost roughly $500 to repair half a dozen panels - the four bolsters and the seat base. Then the passenger seat will cost roughly $150 to recondition.
