Good Choice @rarefiedroad that is actually my 996. Since there is no info on the build page I figured I could shed a little light on it. I found the bike after it had been sitting in a shed for about 10 years. It had a rather "unique" spec with red wheels and vivildy blue fairings but because of all that I was able to get it buy it for $2000 (£1600). Since it was already in such rough shape i didn't feel like i was destroying a beautiful original example so I figured I could make it my own. You cant really tell from the gallery photos but it has race plastics with the number 1 livery off the old race bikes that is all done in gold leaf. The paint is also not super flattered by the lighting but it is Porsche forest green metallic to pay homage to the matrix bike. So, the the #1 livery + the matrix tribute you get the name "The Chosen One" which it has handwritten on the tail section in the old hot rod style. Let me know if you want more photos that actually show the bike off a bit better and i can send them. Thanks, love the show.
Awesome! Thanks for this info - we're going to use it for our comment of the week. Could you please send any extra pics or vid to enquiries@motobob.cc? Thanks again 👍
Hello @haydonreese9370 we would love some more photos or videos of your build - please can you get in touch with us at enquiries@motobob.cc if you are still happy to share. Thank you!
Here in the US I unfortunately live in a state that keeps shooting down a very neutered lane filtering bill, by saying it’ll cause too many accidents. I call bull on that!! It’s car drivers hating on motorcyclist by not wanting to see a bikers free from the traffic that has them ensnarled. Of course forcing me to disobey traffic laws every time I ride. Shame that.
Same deal here down under (well at least in New South Wales) - we can lane filter but no lane splitting. Stopped traffic only, up to 30 km/h and not in School Zones (roads around schools, 08:00 - 09:30 and 14:30 - 16:00).
Thanks for highlighting my comment again. For the monster I recommend some mblaze pins. Got them on my 2011 monster and theyre super bright! Just a bit pricey
I live in the US and I'd say that the public are not ready for lane filtering in my particular state. Set aside how its taken as a personal insult by some of them punishable by execution in the street... never mind that part. The main thing is that no one is used to it, so no one is ready for it and they're gonna hit you. People don't look for it here, because that wasn't a thing before. I don't think pointing to the rule book and saying, "Nuh uh, it says here subsection C-22.18b..." is gonna make a difference to the inevitable dumped bike. I like the idea, in a perfect world, IF you've always had it.
In the UK and even more so in the EU (where scooter / motorbike usage is much higher) the roads are also so much different. In the US it appears to me that the road design and the militant aggression of road users combine to promote hostility towards bikers and road-rage in general.
Yeah here in Chicago people get shot over Nike’s and instagram posts. If someone feels “disrespected” by you filtering in front of them they will mortally wound you.
Is funny to listen to the rear ending portion. I seen lots of big bikes that can’t lane split get rear ended. Never seen a sport bike rear ended but seen many sport bike rear end cars
Regarding stopping distance, you mentioned if in a narrow blind lane then you need to be able to stop in the distance that you can see I disagree. To have a chance of being safe you have to be able to stop in HALF the distance that you can see and hope that the van or tractor coming the other way is driving with the same margin. Worth a thought when in the lanes.
I'm not excited for the e clutch stuff but I'm really glad they're doing it. It might end up being so good that it completely replaces the normal manual. I doubt it but we need companies to constantly try new things to push motorbiking forwards. So please keep testing weird and wonderful ideas, because a few of them might just end up being amazing!
I moved from California to Colorado in 2020 and i missed the ability the split lanes although I'd like to be able to while traffic is moving but I'll take the filtering.
Another great podcast guys keep up with great work. And you should buy small capacity bike with blown engine and make it EV city commuter, and make series building it 😊❤
I live in the US and I believe there’s no actual law against lane sharing in my state but if you get the wrong cop you could get improper lane change or unsafe driving. I’ve had cops give me a dirty look or flash their lights but haven’t had one try pulling me over. I think they understand why we do it and as long as we’re doing it safely they ignore it. Now other drivers who see themselves as vigilantes are another story. Some will just beep or try to block you. Occasionally someone will be more aggressive and actually try hitting you. Luckily that’s very rare but I can imagine scarier situations in other states
Im sure DCT and e-gear bikes have their place, and I drive a DCT car, but I think the physics of a bike suit having that finer control unless it's a bit tourer or something that's getting loads of motorway miles. Just my 2p.
It’s shocking to hear that only a few states allow filtering. Was in California and wasn’t even aware that this is one of the States that it’s legal to do so.
@@z-ro34 I got passed by a cop filtering yesterday in Austin on 35 on my way home. I guess he didn't get the memo lol. I still filter here, but VERY selectively.
Revival cycles is the ones behind the hand built show as they themselves are a motorcycle custom shop in Texas. They are experts in motogadget (from the m-unit blue- to cables that they make for munits) they used to have some staff available to guide you through installation and advice when you’re doing your own custom project which they sadly have scaled back. Everything they do is top notch quality but they are expensive af but they sell a lot of custom parts (mostly electrical and motogadget) you can use to make your own build They also made ‘the bird cage’ (if I’m not mistaken?) based on the BMW r18 platform which is just weird to the core lol
The New 937 Monster has such amazing power to weight, that it hard to not consider it. Plus I’m biased cause I have one that keeps my 2023 Triumph Rocket 3R company 😏
With two entire generations who are not bothered with riding motorcycles (or spending time learning the skills) the new clutchless, shiftless features might be a bit too-little/too-late. Perhaps they are trying to compete with electric bikes. I would have thought electric bikes would appeal to Gen Y/Z, but I guess not.
I live in a US state that’s long supported and allows lane splitting while moving traffic or not. It’s a godsend for traveling through such thick traffic and also keeps riders safe from getting rammed from behind. I do it safely and not much faster than what traffic itself is already moving. I can’t see the sense of the nobs doing double the speed through lanes, they’re just begging to get hurt and it makes everyone else look like a…well, a nob.
In Washington state, it was voted down couple of years ago. People here are already exhibiting antagonism towards motorcyclist to begin with. I could only imagine if that passed in our state, the people who didn't know would definitely try to block you and possibly hurt you. There are some mean fockers here. My trips often take me to California and I love lane splitting. I just recently filtered through 13 miles of traffic out of San Diego. Californians are used to it and check their mirrors for riders. If you use it judiciously and respectfully of other drivers on the road, it only makes sense. Any state that will take time to study the splitting lane subject gets my thumbs up.
Filtering through stopped traffic should be legal in my State of Florida. I’ve done it anyway. But inevitably there will be that asshole that won’t let you by. Do you have those there?
I think anything that detracts or removes you further from the visceral connection with the man machine interface massively takes away from the point of riding, which is to mute out the digital complexity of modern life…. So stick your auto box up ya tail pipe….
California, lane splitting is more pleasant than not. I think people have been used to it so long that a lot will often give space. Oftentimes its the riders absolutely gunning it between slow cars that fuck it up for the rest of us...and complain about the car changing lanes in front of him/her...

In Australia motorcycle lane filtering all good, all legal and legislated. 🏍️ 🇦🇺 👍🏻
However laws do vary from state to state.
I can't for my life understand why you guys don't have more followers in this format.
It because they are hipsters. Opinions of city dwelling hipster riders, isn't that interesting for most riders.
Just got my Ducati S4RS back after some work on it and it is unbelievably good fun to ride

@@aidencoder Its probably not like that everywhere in the US, but its definitely a hostile feeling where I am.

I’m in the same boat. We don’t do new things well, because we use faulty logic. 😢

It was made explicitly illegal in TX last year. Though I dont mind because the drivers here are too dense to realize it's fine if it was legal.

They did in fact make the bird cage.
DCT stops wear and tear on your gear change boot, mostly that will be for high mileage riders

I’m 61 tomorrow! I can’t wait until, I’m really old and I can get a bike that rides itself! You know, when I’m too senile to ride properly!
With two entire generations who are not bothered with riding motorcycles (or spending time learning the skills) the new clutchless, shiftless features might be a bit too-little/too-late. Always thought it nuts that you can't split/filter in the US.... how do Deliveroos get anywhere with hot food?
They all drive cars.
Hondas DCT is the best thing invented for motorcycles since the wheel

So instead of making the MT-07 more competitive with the market they make it a Semi-automatic. All we want is better suspension!!! Come on Yamaha!!!
People filter even when not legal. Cops usually don't care if traffic is real slow
Filtering through stopped traffic should be legal in my State of Florida. I’ve done it anyway. But inevitably there will be that asshole that won’t let you by. Do you have those there?

The wrongest of wrongest angles bois. You talking to us or your mum?
Nobody wants an automatic transmission on a motorcycle.
