Remember when many people hated Thor’s design?
Now this version is considered many peoples favourites
I think it's because we thought they were going to make him a laughing stock, the butt of every joke, and though he does have funny moments liking falling over drunk, they did respect in many ways what character he is
@@celtofcanaanesurix2245 Don't think that's it, more like people didn't want Norse mythologically accurate fat Thor, especially since they are used to the Marvel pretty boy one. But they've done him right so nobody can complain.
@@freestyle1227 well Thor isn't canonically fat in norse mythology and Jackson Crawford doesn't say he is, it's just an interpretation, and one that isn't a stretch, but Thor not being fat is well represented in an actual idol of Thor found in Iceland.
So it goes back to people most likely being afraid they'd treat Thor as a joke like they did in marvel, in endgame
I’m happy they finally did the hair right. A lot of people are to scarred to make it accurate
@@freestyle1227 round chestest doesn't mean fat but i am fine with this thor as well, he is badass
Thor’s arc and parallels to kratos were easily the best new thing’s introduced in this one, only complaint is that I wanted more of him lol
Yes thor is basically the kratos that focused his anger on the giants and never saw that his father was using him and deceiving him
Yea thor should of popped up on kratos when atreus first goes to asgard while kratos is at his most determined to find atreus.
I wanted sooooo much more of Thor
I hope we get god of war just about Thor
Yeah the only difference is Thor is an extravert and couldnt escape death. Bpth their fathers killed them when they rebelled. Both were used by their gods. Kratos just lucked up because he escaped the greek underworld
Love Thor as a character, I loved the way they portrayed it to where he was unfairly treated by his father and thats basically what turned him into this destroyer
yea but in real life it's the other way around, a boy raised in a home of only women is going to be a destroyer of men because they educate everyone to hate men. that's why both men and women fuck around but only men find out and women always get passes even when they deserve it.
Used like a tool except a son sounds like someone else we know as well a particular ghost of Sparta
Used by a parent
Betrayed by family
Left to rot until called to do the same thing again.
Rest in peace.
That’s basically the story of Finerir. Feared and mistreated by the gods for his strength and power to the point where they tied him to a mountain and left him to starve. Until Ragnarok where he breaks his chains and feast on the all father and other gods as retribution for the crimes committed against him.
Thor deserves his own game
That would be sick

I really loved Thor's character in this game, they made him just like in the mythology. Not just a superhero like in marvel. Apart from being a god, he is someone who has feelings and thoughts just like human beings, has done good and bad things in his life and regrets it. And that's why you can really empathize with him and understand how he's feeling at that moment. He has a character and personality.
the funny part is that he is a superhero in mythology, his feats as a giant and his caring for humanity made him a hero among vikings and nords
@@gamerstheater1187 Hero and superhero are different things. Thor might be consider as a savior or a hero as you mentioned but he wasn't always pure good, he was a god people respected and feared. And he would even kill innocents when it's necessary.
@@Atakann1970 thing is superhero is simply an evolution of these older mythical heroes, Thor, Herakles and all those folks
Very different context but not entirely alien from each other
His one fatal flaw was really just his temperament, which was frequently exploited or sparked up by other beings, Loki being an example. Aside from that, Thor was a pretty chill guy all things considered. Certainly far better than the Greek Gods.
Wellll, i don’t think he regrets it
Who would think, that Thor will be such tragic character in this story. The strongest god, but a broken man.
Thor was what Kratos SHOULD have been in God of war 1,2,3 they tried to push Kratos as a tragic character yet everything that ever happened to him he brought on himself.
Immense power, but a failure in life.
In the last game, it felt like Thor could only be a straight villain, someone to relish taking down. But this game, turned that on its head and got us to sympathize for the monster, a victim of his father's and his own sins, wanting to be better.
@@drectanbns266the difference is that while what happened to Kratos was sad it didn’t excuse him for the Destruction he caused while Thor he was raised to be nothing but a weapon Kratos had a choice thor did not.
@@superiorrule34 kratos was a spartan... they're literally trained from children to be weapons it's all he knew
Honestly a spin off about Thor’s past would go so fucking hard
Imagine if at the start of the game Thor is heroic and happily does what Odin tells him to but as it progresses so does his mental state as he faces more abuse from Odin which whittles down at his mentality
Another idea is to get the terror aspect, seeing Thor in his "prime," and we play as Laufaye during the giants extinction. We potentially get more of Magni, Modi, and Syf; as well as a final boss fight with either Thor in the valley or Kratos in Midgard
Good comic at least
We didn’t get enough Thor. It almost felt like clickbait, they hyped Thor up the whole 2018.. all the stories, and we got a longer fight with Baldur. It’s insane.. imagine they hyped Baldur up for 20+ hours and then we fought him as we did. It would’ve been satisfying. They used Thor as a selling point and we bought it.
Having a spin off game that would allow you to take either Thor or Faye's story path, showing how each met the Huldras, attained their mystical weapons, and overall went through their lives, eventually culminating in their battle and the aftermath, Thor being returning to Asgard as a whipped dog and Faye meeting Kratos for a secret battle of sorts with a full ending...
I'd happily pay for one
I knew Thor wouldn’t disappoint in this sequel. He is portrayed by an underrated and superb actor named Ryan hurst ❤ great portrayal and amazing character development ❤

@@Ishbikes for fighting maybe yes but we got more thor than baldur. We only see baldur in fights and 1 or 2 scene maybe so we really dont know about who is baldur but with playing as atreus we learned about who is thor actually. There is a difference between knowing the character and fighting I think but yes thor deserved more fight scenes for sure.
Besides Thor killed all the giants,he also killed several humans/Midgardians In the first fight against Jormungandr Including that vengeful spirit in 2018
He also killed his own mother was sent by order of his father Odin and He Killed others Dwarves As:
Alviss & Kvasir and He also Helped his father Odin and his brothers killed the Freya and Freyr's entire family extinct In the war of the Gods Aesir vs Vanir And also your kingdom They were all extinct in a big massacre/Genocide For Thor In their Murders Even though he did all these cruel things Very sad what happened to the story of Thor and his family 😔
I hope he returns like the Gods who died in the future and others childrens and grandchildrens of Odin who haven't been shown yet They be placed and appear... who knows in the next game or dlc That happens 🥺😭🤧🙏
Ryan Hurst was Beta in The Walking Dead, played that role well
Honestly I think we should of gotten more Thor
agreed
God of war: Thor will be brilliant
I’m happy with what we got, too much could’ve ruined how powerful his moments of weakness were
I also really liked him,I wanted more scenes of him together with Atreus/Loki more of their adventures since the two had the most stories together in the original Mythology

I think that on some level, Thor resents Kratos for trying to turn over a new leaf. Thor is in a lot of ways what Kratos used to be, a weapon of the God's. Thor hates himself, his father, and all the other Aesir God's (save his wife and kids). Kratos did to his pantheon what Thor probably wants to do to his. And now Kratos is living a quiet life with his child away from war. Kratos has the life Thor wants, but can never have. So seeing Kratos have it is bound to piss him off.
I feel that's why he was pushing him to "show him the monster inside". To show him Kratos didn't really change to feel a little good about himself.
I’d be fuming too
@@tewrecks6410 I feel this too lol. Thor probably had this toxic mindset within himself from Odin that peace and wisdom is for pussies, so Thor seeing such a mighty god being a “coward” in his eyes made him want to bring out the monster even more. Thor wanted a perfect mirror to himself
Thor is basically kratos before he started killing gods
Both were tricked into becoming monsters of a god and their family was destroyed in the process. Only change is that Thor’s story ended early but there could have easily been another game where Thor turns against his father
Imagine if they announce a game called god of thunder
Can you do one for Odin? I think A LOT of people forget how much of a monster he really is in the new games. His persona is so masterfully done that it doesn’t really translate from what you see on screen for what he is actually capable of. People not liking his frail old soccer dad look and thinking he should be this big buff bearded man really don’t get that they’re falling for his manipulative aura in real life. Go back and listen to the compilation of all the tales mimir tells of Odin in the first game and look at him in the second game and it’s hard to believe it’s the same guy
I noticed something in the last cutscene with Thor. Kratos and Odin are opposites, Kratos disciplines his son letting his son know he messed up and leaving it at that. Odin on the other hand consonantly barrettes Thor, and completly disregards his children only seeing them as mindless sodiers. also the line "I am your father, you'll kill who i tell you too" just pi**sed me off so much
@@Darth_Revan66 literally every word out of Odin’s mouth directed at Thor is so passive yet so brutal. It’s actually kind of amazing to me
The team really did well in representing Odin. Just like in American gods.
Honestly he got me. Once I saw Odin and how nice he was being I actually fell for it. I thought maybe Odin did want peace, but I was wrong. They did good with this game,
GOW is about re-writing mythology. Greek Gods were relatively simple villainous characters, but the Norse Gods were written as a dysfunctional family, and boy what a great job the writers did !
"Being a god... It can be a lifetime of anguish and tragedy" What a word for Thor...
I LOVE how the video was structured like the first part was thor as the monster we’ve been hearing about
Then the second was who he really was just a broken man who was manipulated into killing without reason.
Omg... 3:23, that music, Thor's scream feels like he's just letting out all the pain of losing his sons, continuously disappointing Thruud and Sif, Odin's constant suffocating abuse, seeing Kratos walk away from the path of destroyer while he feels trapped by it, everything at once finally boiling over, it's the one instance where he's so angry at looking at himself every hit just empowers instead of weakens him, god I love his character so much! also astounding job with this video!
I've never seen such a great summery of Thor's character, feelings and struggle put together!
I have to say Thor has probably one of the coolest voices in the game
Well done, Thor did what many fear. He tried to CHANGE. 😊
Hurst played Thor superbly and he sounded EXACTLY like how I imagined
You imagined Thor sounding American? The spirit was definitely there tho 😂
This Thor is 10x better than marvels thor
Hehehehe and 10x bigger. Hahah.
Mjolnïr looks sick, though. If it clashed against the Blade of Olympus........ 🌍🔥
I don’t mind older Thor in marvel just the new Thor acts like a comedy star
But gow Thor is the main man
This was fantastic! The music, the transitions, every sequence and quote were all perfectly chosen and executed. Thor was an absolute highlight for me in the game and I loved his parallels to Kratos and the little bond he started forming with Atreus as the game progressed. His character journey and portrayal were all so very well done, and this video does him justice. Great job!
I know there isn't much of him in the game, but I would love to see a video like this for Heimdall too.
Yep
I feel a little guilt for thor, he was always rejected and denied by his own father and everything he did was for his father odin to make him proud, but the only thing he gets from him is insults and rejected and he drinks and gets drunk to forget his evil action and his fathers insults and humiliation, he only wanted his father’s love and trust, but in the end, he dies by his own father’s spear, and seeing him raise his hand at thrud was so sad, thor may be a bloodthirsty villain, but he did try to change and be better
Thor really was one of the best parts about Ragnarok
Thor deserved so much better
Holy shit. This so goddamn well edited! I think this could legit pass as a movie trailer. I think it goes without saying that I, like everyone else, loves GOW Ragnarok Thor. The God of Thunder just has a presence that demands some respect. Not to mention, I think that he’s the first character to exude what I refer to as “Gigadad energy”. I truly hoped that things would turn out well for Thor, but Odin just couldn’t let it happen. At least Thrud has Mjolnir, and hopefully Thor is watching over her from Valhalla.
Aesir gods turn up in Niflheim/Helheim (like Baldr), not Valhalla. That's the hall of Odin for warriors who die in battle.
@@adamkurt471 Where Thor went after his death seems to be a matter of contention given how it was that he died, but it was said by Mimir in the 2018 game after killing Magni that Aesir gods found their own way to Valhalla, even if the Valkyries weren't present. With the destruction of Valhalla in Ragnarok, it can be assumed that any souls there would be automatically transferred to either Helheim or Folkvangr. However, Freya did state that Valhalla existed inside and outside Asgard (however that worked), so the possibility of Valhalla still existing is there.
Though the instance of Baldur going to Helheim is canon in Norse mythology, it is currently unknown if that will actually hold true in the God of War continuity.
Also, Niflheim is not an afterlife, it is a primordial realm.
@@talon4618 It is rather ambigous which is which. Sometimes Niflheim is called Helheim and vise versa, or that Helheim is a place in Niflheim. Same with Swartalfheim and Nidavellir.
@@adamkurt471 Seems like it, yeah.

Thor: “We’ve got a tradition called *Blood Payments*. It means I get a piece of you for what you took from my family!”
_Both throw their weapons at each other_ **CLASH**
God DAMN! That was epically edited! I’ve watched this on loop for like 4 hours. Not lying. The music, dialogue and transitional editing is fantastic. It’s awesome to see a strike from the fight at the start of the game be reflected in the fight at the end of the game. Truly magnificent attention to detail and it did not go unnoticed.
Didn't expect it to be so good
Congratulation for the work you put into this, this gem of a game deserves it
This edit was so amazing. I loved this Thor, he was portrayed really well and I loved his character development in the end. Such a goated antagonist
thor can easily carry a huge game on his own
So much material here for such an amazing movie series
Thor ascends and you can't change my mind.
Thor is such a bad ass in this game

that transition was sick
The Guy who made This video deserves an oscar 12 secs into the video an i have rewind about 12 times just don't want it to end.

no one ever mentions how he was clearly abused into becoming a weapon of odin this edit shows it very well

OH MY GODS Thor is so amazing in this game so worth the wait thank you for making this
Great editing.Especially with the transitions. Good job!
Keep rewatching, brilliant
I love how all of the hits Thor throws is matched perfectly with the music
That was fucking phenomenal to watch! Goosebumps! Awesome tribute to Thor
Nice work man :)

Kratos for a full 10 seconds: 🧍🏻♂️
I haven't played this yet but this Thor is my favorite wow. This Thor let's you see his heritage, his giant stature and ogre features along with the fire red hair hints that he is half Jotun
Deserves more views either way you killed it in my opinion freaking epic.
So underrated.

We need dlc for thor story like fr
What a beautiful character and video thank you sir 💪🏼
Very well put together. Good job, man!

This is a really well done video, great work!
Thor is the best new character introduced in Ragnarök⚡️
His story in this game is perfect…

Best character after Kratos
I hope we get god of war about him
Best clash ever, probably the only one that could beat crato’s but he was already to broken…
Those Thor to Kratos actions transitions are best 🔥🤟❤
Awesome work ❤🔥
Great edit , thank you so much
So, Baldur fights purely for the pain it inflicts. He's Odin's perfect weapon: fast, strong, unkillable. We know from Thor that Odin told Baldur that they "make a damn good team", and we know he uses this to manipulate and to justify throwing people at his problems. Baldur is his "best tracker, my closer." He's just another tool for Odin to try and break his issues against until the tool is too dull, and he throws it out. Let's look at Thor. He fights for the fight itself, and because Odin gives him no choice. You can SEE the difference. From the beginning of the "Stranger" boss fight in 2018, Baldur was just WAILING out on us. He's here to slaughter, and he thinks Odin is going to be proud of him. He's moving around like a wild animal, sending kicks and punches like a pissed toddler when he finds a construction tool. Thor fights us, in the beginning of Ragnarök, with noticeable reluctance. He doesn't give a shit about what happens at that battle, because to him, it's just another giant and just another threat to Odin. Then you take the fight to him, and all of the sudden, he's just like Baldur. Fighting to kill you, wailing out, going all in and all out in every possible way. It isn't just about Odin, it's about the home of the only family he has left. The only family you left him with.
For the GoW series, Ragnarok had the most lackluster God fights by a lot. And it's because this was suppose to be a Trilogy but the devs didn't feel like making a 3rd game so the lead director (who was not the same director who did GoW 2018) decided to just smush 2 games into one. Which lead to a lot of important plot points and battles feeling shallow and coming up short to GoW's standards.
Thor fights were honestly very mid for how much hype he got, the first cutscene was cool but could of been much better.
It could still retain Kratos not wanting to be a God killer, just cause he doesn't want to kill them doesn't mean the Devs needed to make Kratos stop being as badass as he was. I mean 2018 had way cooler and epic boss fights with great Cinematic that showed how badass Kratos still is, especially when he killed the Dragon in 2018. GOWR doesn't have anything close to that but they had 5x the amount of content to do so.
Jormundgander vs Thor became a lame background fight, there could of been at least cool cutscenes of that fight but no. Niddhog was a mid fight, Heimdal was very mid and that fight could have been done a lot better. But again they rushed pretty much everything important and relevant to the plot so the characters could do and be where they're suppose to by the time Ragnarok starts.
And Ragnarok, the event this series was leading up to and was hyped up in both games fell flat big time. The whole mission is a rushed mess with all the characters important to the actual Lore not do anything relevant during the assault on Asguard. Jormundgander, Surtr, Garm/Fenrir, and the armies that never showed up all got their content cut from the event. And it's because they didn't have enough time to do everything properly because this was suppose to be 3 games.
The best boss fight in the game was Garm, and that was done well. Good mix of combat as well as good action filled cutscenes that were relevant to the plot.
Overall GOWR is a good game, but not the masterpiece 2018 is
What you say is funny, it shows that you don't know shit about the bosses of the saga and you don't appreciate the mechanics of each boss, saying that 2018 is better than Ragnarok is completely idiotic, although I suppose you don't know what a rushed story means, well, a rushed story. It's when they finish something without knowing anything about any character, for example Hermes from God of War 3, the most hasty character I've ever seen, we don't know anything about him and we don't know what he was doing nor did he have any context at all and it only remained as a meme when he told him. They cut off the legs now an example of something that is not rushed Heimdall we know him as the protector of Asgard he has the horn of Ragnarok we know that he has a horrible relationship with Thor and he is a faithful believer in Odin and we also know that he wants to kill Atreus and that forces Kratos to look for a weapon to eliminate him also Heimdall stole the moon of Vanaheim kidnapped Freya's brother and when Heimdall dies does it mean the beginning of Ragnarok make the difference? Hermes was a super wasted character and was eliminated in a hasty manner and was remembered as one of the worst boss fights in the saga unlike Heimdall who did take the time to introduce us to this God and being one of the most charismatic. of the Nordic saga and the Asgard war was pure mechanics and gameplay you have to be very blind not to see what happened around Kratos and see the armies because there they are present fighting and Fenrir also helped in the story thanks to him he no longer exists Garm and also took Gna out of the war also helped to take the people of Asgard out of the battlefield even thanks to Kratos and his companions they escaped the destruction of Asgard. Do you see? and what did Hermes do in GOW 3? He just ran and they cut off his legs HAHAHAHA that was super hasty.
Cry more you trash
This is so freakin beautiful.
OMG YOU NEED TO DO ONE ON FREYA-QUEEN OF THE VALKYRIES
But also massive well done always amazing content
your work is amazing
Thor is basically Darth Vader and Odin is Emperor Palpatine.
incredible edit man! GGs
I feel like I watch the trailer movie nice edit mate keep up!
I like what you did here, first you show Thor as this incredible yet terrifying warrior god fighting for the glory of Asgard, but at the second half, you peel it away and he is just a sad and bitter man who wasted most of his life trying to get praise from his dad, while the other family he had was all he really needed, and he wouldn’t realize it until it was too late.
😢
Holy shit amazing 🤩
These edits are so epic.
Ryan Hurst did such a good job with Thor
This was awesome
Back in the first game when Atreus went off on Sindri, about little peoples problems, I thought the thunder storm was caused by him, but now I know it was caused by Thor when he beat Modi nearly to death.
How did you do a Thor edit before Kratos? Now I definitely want to see that!
I found the song for the Thor video. Finding a songs for the kratos video will be a bit of a challenge, but I will finish the kratos video in 1 week.
thats a pretty damn good edit sir
Superb edit!
Bruh I know the kratos one is gonna be next but I'm calling it now freya is gonna be soon after or atreus XD This video is so good it represents thor so well.
so good!
Nice edit feels like watching a movie trailer 👌
Thor deserved better. Died in noble cause, refusing to destroy, and yet still respecting his own family. Wherever he is in his afterlife, he sure as hell kicks ass just like he did in his life.
Agreed. The final fight should’ve been him and Kratos vs Odin
I like this Thor more than MCU Thor. He has so much more character.
I'm not convinced Thor is actually dead.
This is perfect!!!! You won the Internet!!
Across the Rainbow Bridge
In the Halls of Asgard
Behold the Breathless Wonder
The God of Thunder
The Mighty Thor
I LOVE this and the Kratos tribute that you’ve done, but could we possibly get one for Baldur?
I AM ADDICTED TO THIS!!!! ✨️✨️
He died in a battle. He found his seat in Valhalla. Odin found his fate in a small orb.
goddamn master class bro.
1:40 That transition was too clean.
I really like thor's design. It's what a lot of strongmen actually look like, not some swimmer's physique but just fucking BIG
Perfect edit
The moment when Odin goes to Atreaus and didnt give a shit about Thor was really Sad.
Before the Game came out i was hoping to kill Thor, but after that he is a broken Character.
I love Thor in this game and it would be cool to see something like a Backstory from him maybe i small DLC
I empathize with Thor. My dad told me I'm a POS daily. I got addicted to drugs and alcohol to cope. Sober for ten years now. Got a good job. Thing looking up. Legitimately made me cry when he didn't get a second chance.
You got skills, make more videos on god of war please. You are the best editor ever seen
Santa Monica should launch new games (aside from Kratos main story) like "God of War - Cradle" or "god of raw: origins" where other gods would be introduced. Imagine a whole new, 45-50 hours game with Ragnarok's mechanism but you play as thor long before kratos arrived in Scandinavia and you with Thor on the journey to destroy giants and confront world snake...holy shit this would be an academy award game
Agreed!
