- The fast, terrifying strings. The deep, male chorus. Thor's theme is the best piece of recent composition every conceived from a video game and it shows. It perfectly conveys the intensity and tragedy of Thor's character arc in this game. I do wish we could have seen Thor more in this game however, as he could have played a much bigger and active role in the story and really push the narrative, but what we did get as pretty awesome!

Anybody else thinking about how fucked up it is that Odin's motif is so prevalent in thor's song?
It does a good job at showing how much influence Odin truly has over him. But I also like that at the end of the track 'The Hammer of Thor', Kratos's motif takes over, symbolising Thor's change and short-lived redemption.

I mean, the first theme that makes up this video is literally called "The Hand of Odin".
I love how he looks more like a strong man then a body builder, it’s cool to see that physique and it makes sense because he has to hit stuff hard lol
I think it's similar to an old medieval European physique of people like knights etc. that could afford meat and liked to drink while also doing physical activities. So they had muscles but also had a big caloric intake so those muscles were hidden under the fat. Of course, they didn't have as much of it as Thor has but he's a drunkard^2.
He was designed after the mythological thor, who had a good amount of body fat. The term is "barrel chested"

actually a bodybuilder thor makes much more sense. strongmen are all strength and no cardiovascular he would tire out in about 1 min. Hemsworth would be more accurate because the amount of fighting he does at a fast pace would naturally lean him out, probably resembling kratos' build.

For whatever reason people are confused so I'll clear it up, this is NOT Odin's theme. Yes the song name is "The Hand of Odin" but just because it has Odin in it doesn't mean it's his theme. Thor is the right hand of Odin and not to mention this song plays every time you fight him.
Its also could mean how Odin is in control of Thor actions

I don't really get the complaint about his physique. It makes perfect sense why he has a gut. He's a depressed man with a severe drinking problem. Of course he's not going to be in perfect shape. Yeah he's a god, but we've learned from Kratos their bodies function identically to ours. At least it's actually treated like the serious problem is. Unlike the MCU who treated Thor's depression and body like a joke.

I don't know how to describe this theme as anything other than intimidating and tragic. It's like listening to the whole story of Thor, the stories, the epics, the revelries. And then the downfalls, fears, and outright sadness of this "destroyer"

Friendly remider that this guy actually killed Kratos but he thought Kratos was holding back so he defibrillated him to get him to fight like a man.
He can kill Kratos, period. If Thor swats Jormungandr out of Ragnarök like a fly, there's no reason he couldn't do worse to Kratos.
When not holding back kratos could definitely beat thor but it would be a hard fight to be sure with is something that can be said about almost NONE of Kratos' other enemies.

Well I mean, the way Mjolnir works in game clearly draws a lot of influence from the MCU version if nothing else.

people need to stop comparing the MCU to everything else, the MCU was a decent adaptation of marvel, but now its seen as a joke because of the more recent content, there have always been problems with the MCU, its extremly difficult to adapt thousands of Comic book characters

The feats of this version of Thor is scary. Despite his overweight appearance, HE IS EXTREMELY AGILE. He also has strength beyond human, and his own hammer smacked a 10 mile snake back in time 0_0
Beyond human is a massive understatement. He straight up splintered the branches of a 5 dimensional construct that contains a possibly infinite number of realities within it.

Thor looked outright dangerous and powerful in the game, especially how they showed his height and stature (and the glare) when he confronts Heimdall. He's perfect.
Fighting him is also no joke. He's extremely fast and agile (not to mention he hits like a freight train).

Imo when he first meets kratos and just towers over him was the most intimidating time for Thor. He was much taller looking down at kratos calmly as kratos was wielding his axe
one important factor that limited Kratos was his blades. he was fine with the axe that could hold up against mjolnir but Kratos's pure god killing weapons are his blades.
but yeah Thor showed Kratos that he wasnt just any God and that he could hold himself really well against the ghost of sparta. but yeah when Kratos let out his old self on thor it was just a punch and that punch should have sent Thor flying back or something worse. that was the only let down in the fight.

Remember, they’re both holding back in the first fight. Thor’s just testing Kratos, seeing if he can push him to the edge; to see if Kratos can match up to the stories out of Greece. When Kratos finally lets himself go a little, Thor eats it and chuckles.
Their second fight happens after Kratos has spent an entire game upgrading, practicing, and getting new weapons. Thor has been drinking and having marital / parental problems with his wife and remaining kid.
These two would destroy the world if they really went at it.

i like how the first parts of his theme sounds tragic, despair, hopeless, but at the same time has some hints of angelic choirs in them. it mimics his characters really well. like he knows he can redeem himself, but he also knows that he'll always find himself back to his old, awful ways.

Thor is such a tragic character. Underappreciated and abused by his own father, essentially believed to be only a weapon, lost his two sons, turned to alcoholism, could barely take care of what was left of his family and once he was about to go down the path that Kratos went down through to redeem himself, his chance gets taken away by Odin
There should be a multiverse version of this version of Thor in the MCU. If MCU Thor faces this one, it's not only an exciting match of physicality. But a moral question of what Thor would have been if Odin had other intentions? CH's Thor would have a whole new appreciation toward life after the fight, provided he survives.
This Thor ( The perfect Thor) would beat the ever living BRAKES off MCU Thor.

What I like is how there isn't one theme specific to Thor and one to Odin, but they instead hold different shades of the same theme. I don't know how preplanned any of that was, but it's interesting to consider Baldur having a standalone theme means he may have been more prolific, heavily ostracized, or even intentionally less invested in the trappings of his family and Asgard. Could also be none of those and the themes were strictly meant to service Baldur's solitary threat versus Thor and Odin's interwoven threat.
Would've been really interesting to see Odin, Baldur, Thor, Sif, Magni, Modi, Thrud, and Heimdall in each other's company in Asgard.
