Personally I love having Indiana ranked as high as they are as a Big Ten guy but the reason Michigan wasn't questioned is they had built up a 3-year profile with the same team so it was a little more understandable even though the committee is not supposed to carry over from year to year,
I have a question what’s the difference after 11 games of a 10-1 Indiana who loses by multiple scores and a 10-1 Texas who loses by multiple scores to the only ranked team they have played
While Michigan's schedule was pretty weak, it still wasn't as weak as Indiana's this year. Because of the large conferences and in-conference schedule variations, along with Indiana playing a terrible OOC...This year's Indiana could literally have the softest schedule anyone has ever had as a Big 10/SEC team. It's not necessarily their fault, but still is what it is.
I don't think any team is going to skate by and hold on to their current ranking. The CFP is anticipating losses or higher profile wins for all of these teams. There is no cause to panic about any of the rankings until we get to the final week and conference championship week. Only then can we see whether a team is going to skate by and hold on to a ranking they haven't earned. For example, Texas is only ranked that high because the CFP committee has to be accounting for the remaining games either knocking them out or validating them.
Pollack is an ultimate UGA homer. He’ll probably be shilling for UGA to be in the CFP if they finish 9-3. McElroy’s Alabama homerism is there but more palatable.
Maybe those teams that “haven’t beaten anybody” are taking the 2023 Michigan playbook and not play anyone till last three games of their season which was Ohio State, Alabama and finally Washington.
Expansion added a much needed “march madness” vibe to college football. They used to say they didn’t want a playoff because every game wouldn’t mean as much. Wrong, now every game played by a top 25 team is a must watch.
The lack of LOGIC used to arrive at the conclusion that GA’s schedule is SO TOUGH, but the teams that beat them are NOT undefeated IS ASTOUNDING! By this flawed reasoning, the folks who beat GA and AL should be undefeated. They’re not. GA is not the same GA. AL is not the same Bama. Parity is coming to college football! Deal with it.
If they would just take the top 12 ranked teams and seed them where they are it would be so much easier. Take the top ranked teams in the regular poll at the end of the season and let them play.
@jeffmercer9655 oh really how about your quarterback Tennessee event struggled against Mississippi State and if your talking about biased it's in the SEC
@cameronmcmahon8826 it was a new offensive line but I know you don't know that because most of there line went pro and btw they have won 7 straight games with the best secondary in the country and their missing Bobby Morrison and they have the best safety in the country Xavier Watts
The SEC conference and teams have been Over ranked which is why we have this delusion of Bama and Georgia being elite. The fact that they are beating each other tells you everything.
The fact they they are beating each other can also tell you they are the deepest conference in the country, and even their lesser teams have the ability to beat good teams. If you look at computer power ratings, that's what they show. The SEC is the best and deepest conference. 13 national championships in the last 20 years doesn't happen by accident. They dominate recruiting, send the most players to the NFL, have the most NIL $ to give, etc. Depending how you view it, there really aren't any "elite" teams this year, period. But the oddsmakers have a group of 6 teams a level above the rest in terms of odds to win the national title, and four of those six teams are SEC teams.
What does it tell you? I'd like for you to explain this. And this delusion you speak of. We wouldn't be thinking Bama and Georgia are elite because they've won 4 out of the last 6 or 7 championships? Couldn't be that, huh?
Preseason rankings are so critical now. Before you ever play a game, they rank the top 12 playoff teams. They should do away with the preseason polls and wait until they post the rankings later in the season
@ if you’re ranked high preseason and you have a weak schedule then it helps to be ranked high in the preseason polls. Penn state,Indiana,Ohio state,Miami
Texas scheduled the past 2 defending national champions, 2 road rivalry games on the same level as Alabama/Auburn. And a neutral site with the biggest rivalry in the sport. Common opponents Mississippi state: 22 with backup QB A&M and Georgia won by 10 OU (rivalry) won by 31 Tennesse won by 10, beat auburn, ole miss won by 12 and mizzou won by 7 Vandy won by 3, one penalty from winning by 17 Alabama won by 5, mizzou won in double OT by 3 Florida won by 32 with backup qb in all but one drive of the second half A&M by 13, Tennessee by 6 in OT, Georgia by 14 Arkansas: A&M won by 4, beat Tennessee, lsu by 24, Kentucky: Georgia by 1, BEAT ole miss, Tennessee by 10
Greg...much respect on how real and transparent you keep your take on the rankings. Someone should get you on the committee! One thing to consider with the loser of the CCG automatically getting the home games idea...ND can never get a bye or a top 4 seed even if we were 13-0, so playing for that homefield advantage is our only 'plus' thing to play for and you would be taking that away. My take is each loser of a CCG should be treated differently because they may all be different. If A&M were to get into the SEC Championship and lose to take their 3rd loss, they should still be in the playoff but not in the 5-8 seed possibly bumping a ND team out of that who beat them head to head. But if undefeated Oregon loses and takes their first L in CCG, yeah they obviously get the 5 seed. Flip it to Tosu, say they lose the rematch to to Oregon to take their 2nd loss in CCG...they should 100% be in the playoff, but the 5-8 seed should not be automatic...it should definitely be an option for them but one of those where the committee assesses them vs the other teams in consideration for the home game.
@@Educated2Extinction I would agree with making a hard cap at 4. Treat the regular season conference race as an de facto tournament and if you end less than Top 4 in your league then you've had ample opportunities throughout the year to EARN your way to the playoff through wins. If you end outside of Top 4 then no one thinks you're total cheeks, it just means you didn't EARN getting there through winning games. Which I personally believe should matter the most (for the P4 level). I do understand that you could still theoretically have an argument to be a Top 12 team but there aren't reasonable minds that will think a team that can't get through a 12 game season in the Top 4 of their own conference has a legitimate good chance at winning the national title.
@@Educated2Extinction the issue with that is with these super conferences not all schedules are created equally so you will get a lot of 10-2 fourth place teams. Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, ND, Bama, Ole Miss and Georgia are the only teams I can see winning the national title this year. All the others are pretenders imo.

Georgia vs Ol' Miss just this week's game wasn't even close. A BLOWOUT loss is NOT DESERVING and should be no dispute out like LSU! Georgia could have lost & Struggled to Miss St, Kentucky and Florida. 100% agree Washington St and ARMY should be in range to get in playoffs 14 /15.
2 more things with this is Indianas SoS will go up after OSU. So they won’t be in that same range as Wazzu and Indiana didn’t struggle with teams like Kentucky. Indiana dominated teams exactly like that

Sorry, but SEC and BIG should only get 3 each. The Big 12 and the ACC should get 2 each. 1 for the non power leagues and then notre dame if they qualify, if not the next best team.
The problem is the president of sec and president of big 10 are working to monopolize the college football conferences. There’s an article about it came out not too long ago.
The CFP 100% is taking losses into account. The problem for the SEC teams is some of those schools have losses too mid teams. Also, and I don't understand why people are not saying this. None of those SEC teams have passed the eye test for me. And yes I have watched them. The all, and I mean all, look sloppy. I know what I see. And let's not forget according to some people. A loss is a loss, therefore does not matter who Indiana has played they are undefeated. Penn State has one loss not two. You say any team in the country would have two losses in the SEC. Yeah everyone in the country said Oregon would be mid in the Big 10. We are gonna find out this year. The SEC gets rolled in the playoffs y'all better not talk next year.
with the Parity they chose the exact right time to do this 12 team playoff. can you imagine how bad 2010's Bama would of beat up the competition in that era
Everyone in a tizzy because uga is finally playing a real big boy schedule when they've sleep walked through the last couple of years. If they can't string together 3 wins to end the season then they don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
Here’s your formula for ranking the CFP - Record, schedule strength, conference strength, with points awarded for playing in the conference championship, and winning the conference championship
News flash SEC fans, the whole reason the 12 team playoff was implemented is to allow lower tier teams the opportunity to compete for the championship. It is time to allow college football fans from all conferences the opportunity to enjoy the playoffs not just the SEC and Big 10.
Washington St hasn't been winning like Indiana though (minus the Michigan game). You have a 2OT win against San Jose St, a smaller margin win against Washington than Indiana, and a 3pt win against San Diego St. Indiana has dominated everyone...
Why does nobody ever mention Indiana’s home/away schedule? They have 8 (EIGHT!) home games vs 4 away. That MEANS something. Georgia’s 2 losses were on the road. Tennessees loss was on the road. Washington? 5-0 at home, 0-4 on the road. Illinois? 5-1 at home, 0-3 on the road. Arizona state 5-0 at home, 2-2 on the road. Indianas closest game was at Michigan… and I’ll be darned… it was on the road. I hate how unfair it is for teams like Indiana and many others to have SO MANY home games vs away and have it bolster their resumes accordingly (Notre Dame) where it’s very likely that that record would be significantly different were the game played away
The Indiana and Washington state argument fails to recognize how each team has performed in their wins against a similar SOC. McElroy selectively applies differing logic to fit his narrative.
@James-FrankWin Texas has played well and has a great talent composite... Psu is a team who's offense looks abysmal and Miami is a team who's defense sucks..
Teams with losses and no top 25 wins have no business being in the top 5. SMU is ranked too low. Their loss is much better than either ND or Miami's & their strength of schedule is comparable.
i get your arguments but its not texas fault they got an easy sec schedule blame the league...they scheduled michigan in the non conference...also texas am lost to notre dame and lsu lost to usc that does not strenghten the secs argument maybe the entire conference is just mediocre ?
I'm not advocating for Big 10 teams when I say this, nor am I trying to be a fanboy, however weather can be a very big difference when it comes to home field advantage. I live in NY close to the PA border, however I have lived in GA and TX. Up in NY we have (on average) a lot of snow and several weeks of bitter cold (below 0 weather). We also have on average several weeks of above 90 with 90% humidity in the summer. When was the last time GA, TX, or any team from the SEC had several feet of snow and below 0 temperatures? When it gets really hot up here people complain about the heat, drink way more fluids but life continues as normal. I can attest from personal experience when TX and GA get a "dusting" of snow (1-2 inches) it shuts down the whole darn city. Employers are putting out calls not to go to work because of the adverse weather conditions. If that were to happen up here we would only work half a year. Yes a team going from 15° weather to 90-100° weather with high humidity is going to have an adverse effect. However a team going from hot weather to 15, 10, 0° weather is going to be impacted much worse. Home field advantage this year just may be enough to swing a few games in favor of cold weather teams.
I know how to evaluate Washington State... they allowed an unranked San Jose State to put 52 points on their defense and allowed an FCS team to put 30 points on them.... you know how many points Indiana allowed in FCS team to put on them?... 3 points and they scored 77.... If Indiana would of allowed any team on their schedule to put 52 points on them, I would not want Indiana in the top 12, but they haven't Now, do i think Washington State are under ranked? Yes... at best, i would put them at 15
This just feels like participation trophies for everyone not in the sec, Penn State and BYU has no business in front of teams 7-12… and the VOLS deserve that #3 spot, #4 at worst… you know what? TN needs this. With the #1 D in the country, you just gave them all of the motivation they will ever need.
PSU over IU makes no sense to me. Neither team has any notable wins so is PSU getting rewarded for their loss to OSU? Because you can bet that if IU plays like PSU did against OSU they wont be sitting in the top 5 or even top 10.
What if the playoff ranking of teams was decided before the conference championship games except for 5 auto-bids. Then we you look at all the conference championship and rank them 1-5 and assign them to the bracket accordingly. That way if you lose if CAN’T be used against you and you know that you must win to be in or know you’re already in. I’m not necessarily saying this is better or worse, just an idea.

@@mayday314because the team Texas lost to won 40 games in a row outside of Bama and has won back to back natties. Reputation does matter.
Michigan 3 years of cheating stand out like a sore thumb, leave ‘em out comparisons ehehehe
Not surprised Pollock doubted ND take...he has always been biased against the Irish
One should put more value on going undefeated at this time in the season. It is not an easy thing to do.
Lol
I can't wait to see Indiana getting to play an SEC team in the playoffs to shut everybody up
They gonna get rolled by 30-40 depending on which team they play
Or they could win and the sec fanboys would look like the dorks they are 🤷🏻♂️
@bxuzabc Just silly
@@bxuzabc this year has been different in the sec, i’m glad bama and georgia got kicked off the throne
@@benjaminfinley9314 Well undoubtedly the dorks know how to play football. Just look at history 🤡!
As a bama fan, I don't root for Georgia often. But I think it's in our best interest to root for them this weekend.
The question to ask is, who can score on ND? They have the best defense in the nation. And who can stop our run?
Northern Illinois
Pollack is an ultimate UGA homer. He’ll probably be shilling for UGA to be in the CFP if they finish 9-3. McElroy’s Alabama homerism is there but more palatable.
Maybe those teams that “haven’t beaten anybody” are taking the 2023 Michigan playbook and not play anyone till last three games of their season which was Ohio State, Alabama and finally Washington.
Must be nice
Georgia lost to bama and to ole miss. They dont deserve to be in if they lose to tenn. Period.
Expansion added a much needed “march madness” vibe to college football. They used to say they didn’t want a playoff because every game wouldn’t mean as much. Wrong, now every game played by a top 25 team is a must watch.
Diversity of opinion? you guys are both SEC guys.

I hope to see Texas A&M and Tennessee in the SEC championship game.

Deal with it.
i love how they talk about SEC teams best win then skip over their multiple losses as to why they should be higher.
😂😂😂😂
Completely agree! Analyst these days have zero credibility
Right georgia state beat vandy and georgia state suck 😂
If they would just take the top 12 ranked teams and seed them where they are it would be so much easier. Take the top ranked teams in the regular poll at the end of the season and let them play.
I want to see 75% computer ratings plus 25% human rankings (humans can adjust computer errors, like injuries, bad calls, etc, etc.)
You can't say a team would lose to another team if they never play thus we have college football playoffs.
Great show today 🙌🏽
Notre Dame has only given up over 20 points in a game once Louisville 24
In Tennessee hasn't given up 20 since last year surely anybody can see the blatant biased
@jeffmercer9655 oh really how about your quarterback Tennessee event struggled against Mississippi State and if your talking about biased it's in the SEC
They also lost a game because they couldn’t score more than 14 against northern Illinois
@cameronmcmahon8826 it was a new offensive line but I know you don't know that because most of there line went pro and btw they have won 7 straight games with the best secondary in the country and their missing Bobby Morrison and they have the best safety in the country Xavier Watts
@@Beentrillx1243We’re scoring better now. Our last 2 wins were 50-14 and 52-3.
You guys need to actually watch SEC offensive and defensive lines; thats why they are always considered good.
This is coming from an Oregon fan btw.
This has been said for a couple generations literally. As always, whatever
Not really that critical at all
@ if you’re ranked high preseason and you have a weak schedule then it helps to be ranked high in the preseason polls.

The CFP doesn’t start ranking until November…

Great post. Just so you know, next year Texas opens their season at Ohio State.
Ole Miss, bama, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio state, Texas, and Oregon are the teams that can win it all.
Indiana has no chance to win it all. Talent level is not there.
@ I added them solely because I wasn’t trying to show sec bias. Lol
I think the regular season has to matter. You dont want to see a bunch of rematches in the playoffs
Personally, I don't think the 4th ranked team in any conference has a claim to be in the playoff. Regular season matters.
For scheduling purposes i wouldn’t mind going back to divisions but still have the top 2 teams play in the conference championship regardless of what division they are in
How is two SEC guys a diversity of thought ??
It's East and West SEC. A diversity of two.

Maybe Indiana loses 2 games with Georgia's schedule, and they have a better roster BUT Indiana is showing they are Fundamentally sound and would not have a QB throw 12 Interceptions in 6 games and not consistent on defense.
Indiana dominated teams exactly like that
24:44 BYU O-line: Conner Pay with broken foot & surgery 6-7 weeks ago is back at center this week. R-tackle Braiden Kiem is out for 2-3 weeks, Isaiah Jatta is subbing. 25:20 Big 12 could get 2 in IF BYU & Colorado win out to the BIG12 conference game & Colorado wins in a close one at BIG12 title. Sorry, but SEC and BIG should only get 3 each. The Big 12 and the ACC should get 2 each. 1 for the non power leagues and then notre dame if they qualify, if not the next best team.
It should be top 12 best period. Auto bids are stupid!
@spencerspillman7904 I like the conference champions getting in. They are generally among the best 12 anyway, but I see your point
That is retarded, it should be the best 12 teams. That would end up with a ton of controversy and undeserving teams getting spots
The problem is the president of sec and president of big 10 are working to monopolize the college football conferences. There’s an article about it came out not too long ago.
The ACC doesnt have 2 teams worthy
The priority has been placed on the quality of loss vs quality of wins
Yeah, Alabama just isn’t as dominant without Saban
How is David Pollack not employed by one of the networks… he is smart, knowledgeable, charming and good looking! I just done get it?
Everyone in a tizzy because uga is finally playing a real big boy schedule when they've sleep walked through the last couple of years. If they can't string together 3 wins to end the season then they don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
The Big 10 teams will play the championship game but can't tell who are they until that day....
Here’s your formula for ranking the CFP - Record, schedule strength, conference strength, with points awarded for playing in the conference championship, and winning the conference championship
It will be a Big 10 or SEC team that wins it all, they have played higher competition and will be better prepared.
Im so glad he's not on the committee. Dude knows ball and his game analysis is solid. But his CFP takes are hot trash. 🤢
News flash SEC fans, the whole reason the 12 team playoff was implemented is to allow lower tier teams the opportunity to compete for the championship. It is time to allow college football fans from all conferences the opportunity to enjoy the playoffs not just the SEC and Big 10.
Strength of schedule is an estimate, and should be variable week to week. Injuries should be a factor.
The new 12 team playoff will help stop the SEC championship dominance. It is time to share the playoffs with the rest of college football.
Go byu . Keep proving everyone wrong
Name two coaches better than the sec coaches
What an immaculate breakdown. Not just a dumb talking head, but using logic and reasoning to explain things
2 SEC ex stars not letting the bias speak for them. Always staying open minded and without an agenda. Great show guys.
Washington St hasn't been winning like Indiana though (minus the Michigan game). You have a 2OT win against San Jose St, a smaller margin win against Washington than Indiana, and a 3pt win against San Diego St. Indiana has dominated everyone...
If miami wins out except for the ACC champ game and it's to a 3 loss (loses to SC) Clemson, does ACC get 2 in?
you gotta look who got the most & best pickups in the nil
Haha, ND plays better away from home.
The Indiana and Washington state argument fails to recognize how each team has performed in their wins against a similar SOC. McElroy selectively applies differing logic to fit his narrative.
PSU and Miami are the 2 teams in the ranking getting brand bias...
Texas has no ranked wins. Let’s calm down buddy
@James-FrankWin Texas has played well and has a great talent composite...
Psu is a team who's offense looks abysmal and Miami is a team who's defense sucks..
@ so if you are talking talent composite over the past 4 years or so. Psu is behind but very close to Texas.
It will hurt them in the end, and the Sec don't schedule their games they have someone at their college that does that.
You only need 1 person on the show if everyone agrees on everything.
If Indiana would of allowed any team on their schedule to put 52 points on them, I would not want Indiana in the top 12, but they haven't
Now, do i think Washington State are under ranked? Yes... at best, i would put them at 15
no way they’re actin like georgias schedule up like that 🤣
This just feels like participation trophies for everyone not in the sec, Penn State and BYU has no business in front of teams 7-12… and the VOLS deserve that #3 spot, #4 at worst… you know what?
Thank you GMc for calling out this committee, this comical at best but I guess it's what we signed up for smh😢
I don't understand who are the two teams, David, you said BYU beat in the top 16? I just see Kansas State.

They beat SMU
SEC bias at its finest... had the nerve to say playing in 84 degrees in December is equivalent to playing in the snow... do they realize every bowl game has been played in warm weather for the past 100 years. smh
Either get rid of conference championships or make conference championships THE playoff. Rank the 4 Power 4 Champions and there’s your playoffs
If Tennessee beats Georgia we should be top 3 without a doubt.
