    This video has just TOTALLY EMPOWERED me. My cakes are about to go to the next level. I'm a beginning baker and this is the EXACT knowlegde I needed to give my cakes that PROFESSIONAL look I want them to have.
    I'm the designated baker in my family and eveyone loves my cakes. The only thing missing is that professional, clean, sharp look. I can't wait for the holidays to surprise everybody with my newly acquired decorating skills. Thanx SOOOO MUCH for this demo. It has really removed all the mystery and complications from the decorating process. This is my GO TO video if ever I need a refresher. MAN....I'm so excited !!! :-)

After the cake has been decorated should I just put it in the fridge if its not going to be eaten within the next couple of hours or keep it out? Thanks!!

  • @Anomalyundetected
    @Anomalyundetected 3 года назад +51

    The key to a perfectly smooth cake is refrigeration! Make sure you have a LOT of time to let your cake and icing chill!
    6 hours-ish to make a cake and to decorate it is a good time, never make your cakes at the last hours, it will be hard to get it done!

    This is helpful, thanks. I recently got my first cake order, (normally I stick to things like soft pretzels and cookies), and when I made it it didn't look the best. Thankfully the person who had ordered was someone I know and understood why it didn't look the best and was fine with it as it wasn't for a huge party or anything (like 4 people), but I still need to get my cakes looking better. The crumb coat was something I didn't know to do. I'm probably going to experiment with some cakes soon to get them looking better, but this is really helpful!

      how deep of pans are you using?! I usually bake my layers individually, in 2 inch pans! My recipe definitely caramelized on the sides, so it's not the best for super deep pans!
      Thank begin said, you can minimize the caramelization with baking strips (like these: amzn.to/2XAZmvK) or you can use a flower nail or heating core to help your layers bake more evenly! Hope that helps

    Hi, sorry for asking so late. I wish you could give me a reply soon. Does the frosting have to be really smooth cause I always have a problem with mine. Its not always smooth. And I always have a problem with the consistency of my chocolate drip.

    Hello, After freezing, do you thaw it a bit, or go straight to unwrapping and assembling, Frosting?

    No video tell you how much icing to make. I am making a 4 tiered cake currently and I have made
    2 batches of buttercream icing but that’s still not enough. How many batches are needed or is there a recipe for a very
    Large batch?

    I'm about to make a cake using your buttercream recipe. I am making a 4 teared cake using 8 inch cake rounds, but I dont know how much buttercream to use. Will one batch of your american buttercream cover in between each layer, crumb coat and final coat? Or do I have to make 2 batches of buttercream

    Why did you freeze the cake? And later the frosting cake? Is putting in the refrigerator enough?

    I am trying to make my son a cake for his birthday and I am not the greatest and want to learn better. After making the cakes for layering (a 12 inch 4 inch deep) and a 8 Inch top tier, how long do you chill them for? Should I make them a couple of days before his birthday and then the day before Ice them? I will be adding an edible wrap to the bottom tier. Do I add that to the icing or is there something special I need to do? After I ice it and decorate, how long before setting it out to warm up to eat?

    Is the icing process the same for cream cheese frosting? I tend to get a lot of crumbs when I apply the crumb coat.

    Omg thank you for this video! I'm only 10 years old (I'll be 11 by then) but I wanted to make my mom a cake for her birthday. (With some help of course) *1 question: What if I want to frost the cake with buttercream?* By the way, this is the first video I have seen on your channel so sorry that I'm like a year late.
