He really didn't explain the writing on a cake very well. You need to apply pressure and release pressure at the right moments to get your letters to STICK to the cake surface

Use Sugar free baking sweetener like i do for my birthday look online doe to flour you can't have it all the time but occasionally and without hurting yourself
@@biazacha its a difficult question because the problem is if you are using double cream it will be fine but things like butter cream might be different the must important thing is to try it out and adjust to the brand and type of sweetener you have. Try canderel they have and icing sugar alternatives that is meant to be 1 to 1 and performe the same. My preference is dobles cream with mascrepone to stabilize it. If you mean the cake itself that is dependent on recipe and adjustments depending on preference but it can be very very similar .

I like that his cakes have a classic rustic Americana charm to them and aren't boring viral instagram cakes that have that perfect plastic looking frosting. These feel more personal.
“My cake decorating style tends to lead towards the grandma” haha that should’ve been ✅ grandma style haha. I work in restaurant as cook, but I found this very intriguing. I don’t do desserts at all (baking, etc) so this is a new found entertainment for me.
The swooshes and peaks technique is a good way of trying to make the cake look rough or even a little bit course, to me it actually looks like a low key version of Wood-log cakes, you know the ones that are intentionally rough for the wanted wood-like texture and it's also a good way to practice on how you would control the specific style of your cake. (and a good way to practice on the way you would control your spatula either offset or the smaller one)

I learned everything except the one part I have trouble with- the crumb coat layer. I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched entire swathes of frosting peel off a cake, or worse, the cake fall to pieces as I try to ice it!
I place my cake into the freezer for just a bit before I crumb coat. And I thin some of my buttercream just a little with milk or cream so that it spreads easily with a light touch. Then I pop the cake into the refrigerator until I’m ready to frost it.
I loved every second of this Video!! it was so helpful and easy to follow. I will be using the Petal Technique in a few days for my very first whole cake!! i'm so excited. Wish me luck >.< and Best of Luck to all the Bakers that are going to try these!
