Now I can understand why Prince just decided to play himself in his biopic. 😂 I don't blame him one bit 😂
🤣🤣🤣 me either
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302 I would of done it too just played myself in my own biopic😂😂
In my life I learn that all biopics are trash
Lol right , I low key feel like Mary J and Chaka Khan are both gonna do it for theirs .. everytime they’re asked about their biopics they never have a clue who could play them 😂😂😂
I’d do it too especially if I’m young enough looking to play my younger self
Zendaya dodged a fucking missile lmfao.
Not a missile 😂😂
A whole nuclear bomb
More like A rocket 😂 .
I low key think she would have done a great job as Aaliyah. Like the woman in the video says it was a bad choice because the girl was biracial...but it's not like Aaliyah is that much darker than Zendaya. And Denzel nailed Malcolm X despite not being the same skin tone. I don't know if Zendaya would have been that much better in terms of singing, but she is a Disney kid so acting and singing is in her alley. Her being biracial is not a good enough reason to exclude her from the role because we all have some racial mix in us, especially people who are lighter skinned--so even if their parents might be other light skinned black people or they may have a light skinned parent and dark-skinned parent, doesn't mean genetically they have that much more than someone who is a 50/50 split due to having a black parent and a white parent. So many biracial people are Aliyah's complexion, some may even be darker.
@@drethethinker6418 oh brother. Stop. Having a biracial person playing a black woman wouldn’t have made sense. Not to mention they look nothing alike. Zendaya even said herself that she doesn’t like her singing voice.
Zoe Saldana doing black face is insane ,exactly what Nina stood against .Shows exactly what’s wrong with Hollywood .Trying to tell us we are too black to play our own Icons damn💔 .
That was crazy
When will people realise, it's a demonic industry. If anything looks good it's a shock. Don't look to them to do accurate and decent portrayals
She did a great job.
The Bobby DeBarge biopic is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The wigs were definitely on sale at Party City.
Ha ha ha ha
😂😂😂😂😂 💀
I didn't even know they had a movie out about him
@@Cardenas50zz58I SWEAR I didn’t either. 😂😂😂
Omg😂😂😂
Them tacky wigs were abysmal
So we can admit Angela Bassett deserved an Oscar for What’s Love Got To With It

That MJ Biopic is UNFORGIVABLE 😭💀💀💀
Even MJ did not like it.
😂😂🤣 I swear , I don’t think Flex has worked since then lol
@@sistamaryclarence 😭😭😭😭

Boyyyyy Flex ass was bogus as hell !
They could’ve easily cast India Arie or Viola Davis as Nina Simone.
India Arie wouldve been an awesome choice!
Exactly...Thank You
They should have chosen that actress who stars in Chewing Gum she looks just like Nina.
@@Victoriaistalented now that you mention it, Michaela Coel would be PERFECT to play her!
@@ParentalDiscretionIsAdvisedsure would have!
I actually think something that was forgotten about Zendaya withdrawing from the role of Aaliyah was that the big reason why was because Zendaya wanted the blessing of the family but because she couldn’t find a way to contact them, out of respect she left the role. Zendaya REALLY did care about wanting to do Aaliyah’s legacy proud and she really about not wanting to hurt the family and Aaliyah’s legacy whereas Aaliyah’s actress was…..
Someone who clearly cared more about getting that big name biopic on her IMDb page than actually properly celebrating Aaliyah’s legacy
I don't believe that story of Zendayas for a second.
She was already signed on.
Youre telling me she signed on and THEN wanted the family blessing? 🤣
Nope. She didn't like the backlash.
@@natsohigh5552exactly. People say anything😭 she already was pen to paper for the biopic but that backlash was too much😂
@@natsohigh5552 Benefit of a doubt: I think Zendaya signed on before making contact due to being excited about being chosen to play Aaliyah in a full fledged movie, and knowing that she never auditioned for the role herself and that the film crew chose her, contacting Aaliyah’s family before pre-production wouldn’t make sense. Why would you contact people for blessings about playing a role that you didn’t even know you were going to get before it happened. What would make sense is doing that during pre-production when you have a lot of time to rehearse a character role, in which you can contact and ask about tips for adding essence when you know that you got said role. I assume that she was optimistic that the film was in good hands before she saw what was going on with the production first hand, because I don’t see how she would do that before unless she was given a copy of the screenplay.
@@natsohigh5552so you agree she realized it was wrong to film a movie without her family’s permission?
The BEST black biopics (in my opinion, no order):
1. Malcolm X
2. What's Love Got To Do With It
3. TLC Movie
4. Temptations
5. Jackson 5 American Dream
6. Selma
7. Ali
8. Ray
9. Straight Outta Compton
10. 42
Agreed
And the new edition story
Selena as well
Oh whoops blacks my bad😭
Ray is 2 actually
Aaliyah has to be the most unforgivable biopic ever!
I see what they tried to do but they just could not find the right person to play her. Zendaya wouldn’t have been right either. I think the Selena movie set the bar sky high for biopics.
@@wuraolaalabi2772 Exactly, not to mention the little mixed red head girl that played Aaliyah as a child. Like gtfoh, Aaliyah wasn’t no mixed red head girl 🙄🙄🙄
I ain't seen the Aaliyah biopic but now I'm glad I haven't from how bad people talk about it and just from lookin' at the actor who looks nothin' like her, she deserves better, but it's better to just leave her be, a documentary or remaster of her albums would be good enough
@@musahaque2000 that movie was bad ! The girl who played Aaliyah couldn’t dance on beat for nothing
@@cierramiller4256 I'm takin' precautions now, sounds really shitty.
Zoe and Flex both needed a beatdown for those "movies" 🤣🤣🤣
Yes they do.
That Aaliyah biopic STILL PISSES ME OFF! I was so upset back then. Like in tears upset. And seeing the clips again just now, I cried again. SMH. Aaliyah was someone that I really admired growing up. Her posters were on my wall. That biopic was so incredibly disrespectful to her legacy. And I HATE that actress. She is just a terrible actor.
That was a horrible movie....and horrible is an understatement. 😢
Me and my mom REFUSE to watch it. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
The Nina Simone biopic still hurts. Ninas dark skin and facial features were a large part of her identity and story too. So to have Zoe Saldana, someone completely opposite to Ninas physical appearance in every way, portray Nina is insulting
India Arie would have been a good choice.
I think Estelle would have been perfect but tbh I think people would still have a problem if Zoe Saldana didn't play Nina Simone that's just how people are and everyone is entitled to their own opinions I believe most people would have just accepted it if the movie was good but it was bad
Nina's daughter said her mom always said she would want Mary j or whoopi to play her in a biopic. That makes sense.
It's terrible! I didn't know much about Nina Simone, but, hearing more about her story and seeing what they did with this film, the end result was a complete assassination of the woman's (legend's) character. I sort question if that was their goal when making the film, as they didn't seem to get the most important character (who is a real person) portrayed correctly.
Zoe's apology rang a bit hollow as well, like someone being sorry for getting caught, rather than being sorry the act in the first place. In a similar line of thinking, I'm still baffled than an executive thought it would be a good idea to get Julia Roberts to portray Harriet Tubman. Like what kind of bullshit is that (even if it was a way to "get people talking")?
And then black face her to make it work. Wow
It feels wrong to even make a film without the family or the person's permission/blessings. I will always value the TLC biopic and the amount of work and dedication they put in the film.
Facts the TLC one was one of the best ive seen so far
I also love the New Edition biopic.
@@WaterfallVee yes! the new edition one was great!
Exactly! And the person can’t defend themselves anymore. It’s a shame.
Tlc was a great movie
the sad part about the Nina biopic...is that when the reporter was asking the other black actresses what they thought about the casting, none of them could answer truthfully...and that's probably b/c "Hollywood" would have blackballed them smh
They were speechless. They wouldn't have been blackballed from blk Hollywood. Be serious.

The fact that the Nina Simone biopic actually seen the light of day is despicable
The woman who played on the walking dead , could have played Nina Simone. Machone.
I had my hand over my mouth for about 5 minutes bc I’m in shock that this was actually put out. I can’t even believe Zoe would play this
The shit is disgusting
The lady from the walking dead is African and Nina Simone is African American. She should not play her, im tired of Africans taking are roles, they express how they don’t want us to take their culture.
Then they get the zazie beetz girl from Atlanta to play stagecoach mary. 😠😡🤬🤦🏾♀️🙄
The Jackson’s, What’s love got to do with it, The temptations, Ray, Get on up, and the New edition story were the best black biopic’s
Yes the new edition story and the Bobby Brown story were the best. But while I understand that only the songs that were very important in their careers were added, I wish they could have also put "Word to the mutha", "On our own", "Stone cold gentleman", "Rub you the right way", "Get away" "humpin around" and some songs from the Heartbreak album in the movie.
The United States Vs. Billie Holiday
Halle Berry in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge was flawless since it was based off the book which her Manager wrote
Zoe just wanted a Check, she didn't care who she offended. She's just another Puppet!

She wanted money , did care who she pissed of but she knew better soon as WE started going at ppl , there was no reason for her to do an interview- she had no movie , no song no NOTHING that's why i say SHE PUT THAT INTERVIEW TOGETHER even Gilbert Arenas said sorry at that time for his comments towards dark skin women & Lupita Nyong'o... The Aaliyah biopic was such a disrespect to her legacy. And that Nina Simone movie. Chille 🤦🏽♀️

I agree. I was really curious about the Aaliyah movie, so I watched it and..I was so uncomfortable by how they romanticized her being groomed by R Kelly..I am in love with Nina Simone’s music but I can’t bring myself to watch that movie after watching the biopic for Aaliyah.

With R. Kelly’s trial and the details that have emerged about his inappropriate ‘relationship’ with Aaliyah (let’s be real, she was groomed & he is a predator), I think it’s important her story was retold accurately. I’ve heard that the Baby Girl: Better Known As Aaliyah book did her some justice especially in accurately describing their inappropriate relationship, and speaking of the fact that it was one rooted in grooming. She spoke about the fact that disregarding R. Kelly’s chapter in her life would be denying Aaliyah another title she so greatly deserved, the title “survivor”.

As a young Aaliyah fan I was so excited to see her movie because I had been waiting on it for years since keshia chante was set to play her. But as I got older I started to see the major issues with the film. As a film major, I want to remake the film one day with her family’s approval and input. As far as Tupac I felt the film was nothing but a dramatized retelling of resurrection. Nothing special or new. I just recently watched the bobby Debarge story and I was disappointed. It was cheaply made. But on the bright side I did get so hear some good oldies.
You're very pretty and would do the Aaliyah movie justice.

I have a feeling maybe in another 10/15 years time we will see a new Aaliyah biopic. Maybe Rashad will even be an executive producer on it?
ALSO, maybe Keisha Chante will play Aaliyah’s mother in the film? What do you think? Could you see that?
In regard to the biopic on the Debarges, this video forgot to mention that none of the Switch members were contacted for the making of the film, which would have been crucial in telling Bobby’s story. Not long after the movie was released, some of the Switch members also took to Facebook to share their frustration and disapproval of Bobby’s portrayal in the film. They all said that although Bobby was perfect, he was not that crazy or volatile like the film tried to make him. As someone who’s read Bunny Debarges book, Tommy Debarges book, and Greg Williams, founder of switch, book, the only part of the film that I would say was accurate was the abuse that Bobby and his siblings endured from their father. That was real. Other than that, the movie was complete trash.

If she was really sorry for her role in the movie she should have just said no and demanded that the movie find a dark skin actress instead
@@karenjeancyarskarencyars7518 Period! It just seems so fake. Imo she only said sorry because the movie flopped cuz if that was nominated for an Oscar then we wouldn't have heard anything! 😒🖐🏾
Some Actors/Actresses seem to think backlash are people stifling their creativity, bullying them for their looks-until they see how it didn’t matter how well they acted that they looked horrible. One could take the best acting performance ever and put a clown nose on the performer and suddenly the whole thing looks like a joke. That’s what happened except even the acting was weird.
@@mayaalidou2062 she's Dominican what you expect.
True her behavior was not right and unforgivable.
The Aaliyah biography was just a disgrace 😆 🤣
I agreed can’t believe waisted ma time watchin the bio pic movie
Yo why she reading her script like someone is holding a knife to her neck 😆
Lmaaaooo Flex being MJ was hilarious
Ik we clown Flex for that MJ movie, but can’t blame the man for getting that check after they wrote him off the last season of One On One 😂
Did they ever say why they did it?
Wait...How did he get written off his own show ?
@@hailiesbong2734 I wanna know too
@@hailiesbong2734 The writers said they wanted to focus more on Breanna and Arnaz’s relationship instead of her and her father’s relationship.🤦🏾♀️💁🏾♀️
@@hailiesbong2734 yeah, UPN shifted the show to be more teen oriented like how the WB was, so it move the plot over to Breanna and Arnaz’s relationship, he appeared in the early S5 episodes but was written off after that few handful
That Aaliyah and Michael Jackson movie were wrong on sooo many levels. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I think the most worst bio pic would have to be in a couple years ago the Wendy Williams bio pic literately ! I think everybody can actually say that was the worst biopic
The Five Heartbeats and Temptations,,,those were the best /longest lasting !!!!!!!!
When Crystal showed them clips of Alexandra singing and dancing 😐😂
Not you putting my name out there 😭😭😭😭😭
@@BLACKFEMININITYTV lmao 🤣
😂😂😂
The autotune seriously hurt my ears
The girl who played Aaliyah sounds like the kids bop version.
I had no idea there was an Aaliyah biopic.
Some may disagree but since being a huge fan of both, The James Brown and and Aretha Franklin stories weren't that good as well! They were not as bad as the 5 mentioned but again, as a huge fan of both Mr. Brown and Ms. Fraklin, I know that so much was either left out or not expanded on enough to where they both sucked and did not do either any justice IMHO!
Aaliyah’s biopic failed mostly because of Wendy’s greed to just talk about Aaliyah and R. Kelly’s drama. Most of her life skipped around until she met Robert and after he finally left her alone. U could tell they had no real interest in telling her story, only the gossip
Everytime I see Flex in that man in the mirror movie it reminds me of a Scream spoof. He looks like Ghostface 👻
That movie scared the hell of my little brother when it came out
😂😂😂
Lmao thought I was the only one 😭😭😭

Hilarious stuff 🤣 on a more positive note you should do one about the best black biopics! Straight Out Of Compton, TLC, New Edition, Ray, Ali etc in the running for sure
Lifetime has never been concerned with getting it right. They know ppl are gonna watch regardless. We need control over our own stories!
