Wicked video love the content 5 plus Stars. By the way it's much easier to drop the motor and tranny on a heavy duty table 1000 LB capacity... it's much easier...
1- Disconnect the wiring harness from the ECU and rest it on the engine. Disconnect the fuel line.
2- Remove the coolant and hoses on the radiator only the tranny cooler sits in the sub frame infront of the engine no need to undo the lines from there.
3- Remove the bolt in the steering column.
4- Remove the calipers and hang them.
5- Remove the driveshafts/ tie rod ends from the steering knuckles.
6- Drain diff oil and remove both front drive shafts.
7- Connect to hook to the upper strut Tower theres a hole to install a hook and then connect it to the top of steering knuckle after removing shock from the lower control arm. Very important or the upper control arm will become worn with load of knuckle hanging down.
8- Remove the control arms and tracking arms from the sub frame.
9- Remove exhaust system.
10- Remove the rear output shaft and front transfer shaft from the diff and leave the shaft connected to the transmission.
11- Remove tranny oil. And remove lower tranny to engine bolts. And torque convert bolts if engine wasn't seized....FML.... remove tranny wiring harness.
12. Get your table I would suggest you make one out of square tubing and weld it up proper with heavy duty wheels and I'd say either steel top or 1" thick compressed wood. If you need I can give you specs on one to make.. get some cut pieces of wood. And lower the car on to the table and adjust your wood.
13. Remove the 6 bolts for the sub frame and the 6 for the tranny mount.
14. Lift the truck up and ta da!!!!!

Pure nightmare, the N63 engine is even worse, it’s like a big pizza oven on wheels, cooking all the expensive modules, these Germans are bipolar 😆😆

You did it all WRONG! You're supposed to strip a bolt on the bell housing, drop the tranny off the stand and and get torque converter fluid all down your arm!! 🤣🤣
The two nicest cars are gone. But at least there's room.

There is Xhp Flashtool that you can flash the transmission to get rid of the sluggish shifts I did stage 3 and it’s perfect as a Daily driver

The front drive shaft has a recall and is covered 10 years/120,000 miles from the vehicles inservice date. Same goes with the fuel injectors. If it’s a 2013 you’re covered but probably not if it’s a 2012. They used the ZF 6 speed variants in the x5m and x6m in the entire duration of the e70/e71 cars. I’m not sure why they did that because all the e70/e71s that had the 35i and 50i got the ZF 8 speed starting in 2011.

The first 2 clips were shot on the gopro 360, not impressed at all with the blurry quality of that camera , but then went to the DSLR camera , yes the lift is a lifesaver for sure

Hello sir I need your help with a quick question . If a 2011 bmw 550i rwd needs a transmission, can I just swap with a used one. ? Is there any programming/virginizing involved like a Mercedes’ ? Thanks for your time !!

That was a recall the front shaft it was changed more than likely
They used 6HP because 8HP (at least at the time) was not able to handle that much torque and specially towing capacity. I have N63 X5 and it has 8HP thanks god. Little bit disappointing you get X5M/X6M in 2013 and you have "prehistoric" transmission.
Also the fact it has paddle shifters is not that odd. All bunch of older BMW's (e9x, e6x) had 6hp and paddle shifters.
