    Dude, I did mine yesterday. Now my transmission is amazing 🎉.
    I was a little hesitant at the beginning, but I was following your instructions and everything when smooth.

      I’m glad to hear that ! Yes the first time I did that job few years ago I was also a bit scared but everything went well afterwards !

      LOL you can kind of see that coming as the videos rolls out ! It bugs me cause I have 3 pumps in my other garage but none with me when I needed it.

    Just the fyi... on 2nd oil fill, someone needs to shift the all the gears so that each gear pack is filled up properly in torque convertor.

    Thanks for this, I am thinking of doing mine (LK12425) this winter, now with 84k km on it (2011 car), shifts nice, but I like preventative maintainace.

    Please post part numbers, types of fluid you used. Also where to get the service kit for the 6hp28x

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  Год назад +1

      Hi, all part numbers are in the video description. I had to buy they separately because the kits sold in US (FPC and ECS) all came with fluid and since I live on the other side of the planet (Australia) I opted for buying the fluid locally to save on postage cost.
      I used Penrite BMV (Australian made fluid)

      Hi Darren, I bought them from FCP Euro in US - parts came amazingly quick within a week ! Check on their website for the whole kit, I believe I bought the parts individually cause shipping the oil would be too expensive .

    Just one thing regarding putting the car into neutral if out of batteries then you use the red tool in the toolbox and stick it in the hole in the right side cup holder

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  9 месяцев назад +2

      That would work for a few cars however some of the new ZF transmissions will have a bolt on the side you have to screw - no more access from inside the car

    Hi I own a BMW F10 M5 2015, I was told by RSW in New Jersey that the 7spd DCT transmission oil and filter is for lifetime of unit and is not serviceable… is this true or not? Nice videos, subscribed.. 👍🏻

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, the transmission on your M5 is a DCT so the procedure is not the same as the service in this video however I am very against this "lifetime Oil BS" They only say this because BMW expect the car to last 100K Miles - Its a fluid which ages just like everything else.

    • @Killian665
      @Killian665 Месяц назад

      BMW started doing this in the late 90s so they could falsely claim lower maintence costs. “Lifetime” fluid means lifetime of the part. So when the transmission fails from never servicing it, that’s the “lifetime.”

  • @bmw12347
    @bmw12347 Год назад

    I plan to do the same. ZF fluid is so expensive but people keep saying not to use other oil. Are you still trouble free from Penrite BMV oil? I have a leak. Beside drain plug, fill plug, pan gasket and the electrical adaptor plug, can leak come from other place?

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  Год назад

      Yes I was also very sceptical about going with a different fluid but have been doing so since 2019 (over 6 cars so far) and they all worked fine. The gears changed a lot better but that should be more related to the service kit installed than to the fluid itself.

    For zf8hp VW recommend changing the oil in saudi arabia every 30k km i think i will do the same to my 650i bmw just to prevent an issue 😅

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I really dont understand how BMW would recommend to do the service in some countries and say its a lifetime oil in others .... The best thing with this cars is to be pro-active and you are gonna be avoiding headaches !

      The EPA in the USA and equivalent agency in Europe pressure the manufactures to have extended oil change intervals ,it’s possible they do the same thing with the transmission fluid. “For the environment”

    I've noticed an issue in my zf for the audi s5 4.2l v8.
    After driving for a while the trans develops a clunking 2nd to 1st gear when coming to a stop. And when taking off from a stop holds on to gears too long and i have to use M mode for normal driving.
    No codes came up at all. Could it just need a fluid change m car is only 46,000 km

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  Год назад +1

      Hi, I’m not very familiar with Audi however if you have the same ZF 19, 26 or 28 transmission I can almost guarantee you will benefit from a service as I fixed 2 BMWs (530i and X5) with the same Simpsons as yours.
      Ensure you do the full service with the sleeves, seals and don’t just change the fluid. Also make sure you reset your transmissions adaptations.

    Just did the service, as per instructions (yours and others). Changed also the rubber seals along with the plug adaptor, filter and fluid. It took almost exactly 7L of fluid. Pre-filled about 3.5L fefore starting up the car, and a further 3.5L approx with the car running, temps at 40deg celcius, vent to drive and reverse with foot on the brake. Not possible to go through the gears.
    Fired up ISTA and deleted the adaptations.
    PROBLEM: the car just shoots back into Park when trying to drive it and shows the P and car rolling warning.
    Another thing which happined at the same time was that ISTA cannot find the FRM at all. Was fine before. Not sure if it's related.
    Any ideas??
    PS I did change the front diff fluid and transfer case fluid and deleted the adaptations for the transfer case. Probably not related.

    • @farturinn
      @farturinn 8 месяцев назад

      Fixed,
      Topped up the fluid, needed additional 700ml, but it was a pita to wait for the transmission to cool down enough. Measuring the pan was 30deg but ISTA gave me 50+
      Also installed a spare FRM,, had my FRM repaired last summer and it decided to give up today.. convenient when doing other maintainance, just to confuse me more

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  8 месяцев назад

      The FRM usually goes when battery voltage is too low - did you have it plugged onto a charger while doing the computer work ? As for the Parking issue, my car usually does it when the doors are not fully locked

    • @farturinn
      @farturinn 8 месяцев назад

      @@dnl35projects No didn't have the car plugged in to a charger, but had hardly done any work on the computer, more or less random I would say. Had it repaired in August last year, one of those ebay services. But I am happy that the transmission is working now. Will be running a FRM3 from a RHD E90 until my unit comes back from repairs :D
