    Thanks for the great video. Based on the previous ZF6HP videos I have maintained my gear unit by myself and it runs pretty good since more than 5000km. I had to change my solenoids as well to solve my issue. At full throttle the gear unit wasn't able to shift from 4th to 5th gear. Thanks again for your videos😊

    I found a solution to why my transmission was hanging on some shifts and jerking on others. I used ISTA and did a transmission adaptations reset and it fixed all my issues. I couldn’t figure out why it had these issues without any codes and having a fluid and seals service. I thought it needed new solenoids or a valve body job.
    After the reset I have never had it drive so nice before. I noticed that I was bracing my body for the jerks but they never came.

    A great video, thanks Gary. My BMW e90 335 2009 has this delay shifting on third gear only when cold. Had done valve body service on it on my 6hp19 tranny and reset adaptation but issue not resolved.

      Gary, There are no codes at all. All solenoids and seals have been changed.

    f02 n54 6hp not sure which variant yet ,
    hard shift into reverse when cold....drives good no codes.... where shall i look?

      Hi Belinda, Working on getting a 722.6 core to do a rebuild video on. Rebuilds are little tough t do, i need time and thats very hard for me, shop is always busy, we are never slow

    Hi Gary, I have a U151f that is having some weird 2-3 shifts. It's like a bind up on the shift. I have done a drain and fill and the magnets looked really good. Could this just be a solenoid/ valve body issue? Is there anything I could look at without tearing into the trans to tell if it's more than just a solenoid/valve body issue? It only seems to do it once it reaches 150-160 degrees fluid temp. Otherwise the trans works fine.

    Hello Gary!
    Do you happen to have a recommendation for a overhaul kit for the zf6hp26?
    Looking for hopefully a complete kit with bushings, clutch packs and gaskets.
    I see oregon performance has something, but it seems kinda cheap. Almost same price as AliExpress and i guess it throws me off a bit.

      I either go OE Overhaul and OE friction module or a Transtec Banner kit, Bushing kit is separate i use Durabond on that

    Hello Gary,
    My 2009 535 my transmission jerks when shifting into second gear. Only when car is cold, when I let car idle about 5 minutes after warned up the transmission shifts like butter, fluid changed. New bridge seal ,all tubes new and brand new set of OEM solenoid. No code… Thank you!!

      @@GaryFerraro No sir, car have 113k reason why i changed all fluids, bridge seal ,tube and solenoid.

      @@michaellam4492 well, very possible the shift adapts may need to be reset. is your charging system ok, just wondering if loosing the adapts . what type of scan tool do you have, can you read clutch fill times? Have you been driving the car around? you put some miles on it? Why did you do the work on the car?

    Hi Gary. Love your videos. They are very informative. My Jeep JL has been showing wierd symptoms lately. It won't come out of park once the transmission temp crosses 91C. No issues when its cold. Once hot, if I hold press accelerator at about 1000 rpm while shifting out of park, it does so successfully. The code its showing is P1B14-00. Sometimes the parking brake lever also gets loose. I've been advised to change the whole transmission. Do you have any advise for me that could help me save a few bucks?
    (Checked the solenoids, the park lock solenoid is showing 28ohms. Rest are fine). Park lock solenoid does not make any sound or movement when given some current. The rest do...

      Have you checked the adjustment of the release cable? if you clear the code it comes right back?

      @@GaryFerraro Yes the parking cable adjustment was checked earlier by the dealership. I was told it's fine. And Yes, it comes right back after I clear the codes, after the transmission reaches its operating temperature

      @@GaryFerraro so something even wierder happened. Serviced the transmission, and cleaned valve body, after which the problem dissappeared. Drove for 2 hours, shifted from P to D many times, all ok! Next morning, problem reappeared at operating temp. Maybe the excess black gunk is to blame? After changing oil and driving for just two days, the oil inside turns black and has black goo stuck to the magnets. I am not sure if that's normal

    Hi Gary, I have ZF6HP28 and the reverse delay maybe 3 seconds before it engages and the third gear and second gears , they hard shift. Do you know any common issues that are related to what I mentioned.

      Does this hot and cold? Delay in reverse is not common, i had one once and new solenoids fixed the issue

    HP6 Range Rover 3.0td4 the reverse does go in but seems like it is lost after 1 or 2 mtrs. Would you any idea what it might be. All gears forward eork no problem anytime. Much appreciated, thank you

      Anytime i had a reverse problem on a ZF6HP26 it was a solenoid problem

    Only one thing is that you opening frant pump with inpect tooll is not good. But you doing a great job. I would like to work with you.

    my bmw just randomly looses its gear ratio, driving normally it should change all gears below 1.8k rpms for the best fuel efficiency
    if i press more gas than usual, it just goes into lower gear and all the gears changes on exactly 2k rpms
    1 gear - 2k rpm
    2 gear 2k rpm
    and so on, but if i stop the engine let it sit, then start it again it goes back to normal changing gears like it should after some time it just starts again
    Today while the transmission was not behaving i drived in manual mode for the fuel effiency and while shifting 4-5 it slips really really had and threw a code 4F85, before that i had codes for gear monitoring 3-4 and 4-5 but after clearing the codes it drives completely normal without any problems, is it maybe a software problem? because it started working badly after i reset adaptations

      @@GaryFerraro i haven’t noticed a difference between cold or hot, but most likely when it becomes hot, it just comes randomly forget every gear ratio and just purposely waits until 2k rpms

    Hi Gary so I’ve been watching your videos for a while I have a jaguar s type car has been doing this since 55k miles it’s at 72k now with the ZF6HP26 transmission I watched your video on the overhaul on the valve body sadly after I serviced it I just have a small issue with my car I have only replaced the Mechatronic Sealing Sleeve and changed fluid with lifeguard 6 as well as the pan/integrated filter I did not do the 4 sealing tubes and the bridge seal so if that could be my issue maybe you would know but I also did the fill level making sure the trans fluid was at certain temp car still does a slight bump from 6th gear to 5th and sometimes it bumps on the up shift from 5-6 gear I can almost make the weird up shift happen by applying more gas after the weird downshift but that happens less the weird downshift occurs after staying in gear around 3k Rpms at around 80mph for a couple minutes then almost as if it’s forcing it to downshift after so long like it’s stuck in gear it’s not too harsh but I do feel it shift and maybe even less often like once a day kinda of jolts out of first gear as well first time but other than that all up shifts and downshifts are good highway driving usually is where is shifts weird I would really appreciate your insight I would just go to you if I lived close but I don’t sadly.

If all doesn’t go well I’m willing to send my valve body up to you for repair but on another note id say it happens more when it’s hot but I’m not certain on that i also live in Arizona so my car warms up very fast but it has no codes Gary and shifts worse in regular mode compared to sport I can get it to shift weird by myself by accelerating past 2k rpm’s to about 3k rpms going 70mph to around 80mph in regular mode in sport mode it stays at 3k and doesn’t do a weird up shift it only does a weird downshift when it seems like it forces it to downshift at 3k rpms and the shift is really not terrible I just can definitely feel it I think you would understand if you recommend shift solenoids next I can do that or whatever you think is the best choice I also have never had the tcm adaptations reset or any software upgrades by SDD i heard that likely won’t solve my issue but if you think it does I can find someone to do it I don’t have many shops around me that I can trust with that ZF trans I would trust you though Thanks again Gary.

      Your problem may not be the valvebody, your problem may be a worn out rear stator bushing, . If the bushing is worn you will have problem in the higher gears, 4th,5th and 6th.@@N8JMoney
