    Can't wait to try and lower my weapon power with Alt-F5 and accidentally fat finger F4 instead. Those default keybinds are cheeks.

      Bad keybinds will immediately turn any new player away.

      My F4 and F5 are separated by a space between them thank good

      Isn't the F4 and F5 key on your keyboard separated? I don't understand how you could confuse the two. If it was Alt+F3 I could see it being a problem.

      ​@@thumpertron No they are not, Logitech keyboard. Not every keyboard looks the same, they started diverging back when IBM stopped being the only keyboard producer in the world back in the 80s.

    Nice summary of the new systems in place. TBH after a few weeks playing around with it, I settled on using the num pad for the MFDs and power management. I find it a lot easier using the NumLock key to switch modes (mfd > power), rather than reaching across the function keys with a modifier. Anyone with a StreamDeck or Glass access, will have much easier time ofc.
    Anyways, new build was just announced in the ETF channel, so maybe things will get easier (not) :)

    This is a big step into the right direction! They still hove some fine tunning, but I'm excited about the new navigation on the panels and weapon groups!

    The new mfd is visually nice, but key things that are necessary for fighting are not placed in proper points. Speed, altitude, targeting info and weapons need to be in place visually easy to see. They were in the old hud. They are not now. Please CIG look at modern fighter huds for inspiration. This iteration does not work. I cannot even tell what missiles I have armed or how many.

    Thanks Foxy! Really appreciate you taking time to show us the new 'tech'. At least they kept the same power management keys. I'll just need to get used to the alt key to reduce before I can increase something else. In the heat of battle, that will take some practice for sure. I'm not sure if this will detract and take fun out of the game or not. You would think nearly 1000 years in the future this would be automated... Chris said WWII. That is what we get I guess.

    Thank you for posting this. It gives good insite into what to expect. It would be nice if the power management can be more like Elite, in that if you set power to wepaons for example, it automatically takes power away from other systems, rather than having to first lower power from shields THEN divert it to weapons (more like what you do in Starfield like you said). It will get some getting used to, but nothing that some keyboard customising wont fix 😁

    THANK YOU! Your video is perfect for someone like myself that does not have too much time time to decode CIG's "let's try something else" baloney. It was exactly what I needed. You broke it down clearly and not too deep to overwhelm. The server crash is also a great indication of my first two days of trying to play 3.24.2 (lol). Again, thank you!
    QUESTION: does the cooler and engine power implemented in the game play yet for 3.24.2? It did nothing in past as far as I know.

    To anyone complaining about the game having too many keybinds. They're not for you, you don't even need to use the VAST majority of them in order to play the game casually. They exist for the people who have flight setups, if you're on mouse/keyboard and need to look at the mdf on your left or something, then literally just point the mouse cursor at it.

    i prefer the 2 fire groups and 2 fire buttons option, makes it easier to bring down shields by keeping fire on them alternating fire from the groups
    the power keys are great, i already have them similar that, though i would change that left alt to right alt, to make it easier on the hand and to not press left alt-F4

      One would hope there are binds for firing specific groups as well. As for only two firing groups, it completely breaks down with QEDs and EMPs.

    That explains why sometimes it is necessary to disable guns in order to use Quantum Travel. I also didn't know what was meant by "cast". Thanks for the explanations.
    It is very frustrating to have the ship stop just from pressing the "alt" key, when trying to adjust speed. I need to find a key bind to change speed without losing focus on the direction key already being pressed.

      Maybe It's a multicrew gameplay. In a light fighter it seems you dont have to change the power assignement all the time (What I find more logical)
      Binding 1 or 2 things that could be usefull for a fighter, And in the case of multicrew mouse on MFD should be sufficient

    I love the new MFDs and the control we now have! Finally, we're starting to see components having a tangible influence on performance. Even if this is tier-0 in regards to balance, it's looking like a final revision.
    Can't wait to set up a nice control scheme with the flight sticks.

    I didn't go through 150 comments to see if anybody mentioned this but changing the power hotkeys to RAlt would make the stretch much easier for right-handed people (thumb + middle or ring finger).
    Edit: I hope we can set config hotkeys for power groups - having to do those one-by-one to set up for combat or whatever is a no-go.

    I was initially left with a negative impression when i first tried the MFD's but after watching this video i have changed my mind. This is actually really cool and better in many ways. Especially the weapon group management. You can be creative here and mix different guns into different groups. Not be locked into either lasers or ballistic for example.

    Thank you for the insight, it's helped me already think of way to rebind all this new stuff. I wonder why they couldn't keep the power triangle? It would have been pretty easy to implement into the new system so that things could still be done quickly in combat

    Great tutorial, thanks. Power management is confusing - does it matter how much power weapons or shields have? Does it affect regen rates of ammo, shields, or speed/boost?

    one flaw i noticed is that holding W for throttle stops working when you hold F or ALT. so the ship will slow down when your not using cruise control. And when you want to increase or decrease speedlimit you have to hold ALT and use Mousewheel but that will also switch weapon groups because they also work when holding ALT or F..

      first thing i did was take weapon groups off of mousewheel and put it on a thumb button that cycles thru the presets. One and done!

      and i now started using hotas since the keybindings are better delt with that way :D just need to get good at flying with it and aiming in fights :D

    I have a love hate relationship with the new MFD's. On one hand they look nice and help declutter things BUT, the fact you need to scroll within said MFD's is asinine. Good luck in combat. :) o7

      you're not supposed to switch between mfds in middle of combat , and they are multiple mdfs so you can put on each of them the setting category you want

      ​@raptorkysen177 don't think he's talking about switching the MFD screen to display something new but the fact that if your in say power management you have to physically scroll on the MFD to see and change where power is allocated as not all the modules can be displayed at once etc. If you understand what I mean hard to explain without some visuals I guess.

      Haha, just devote two entire MFDs to power so you can see the whole range. Shame about ships that only have two MFDs, who needs the targeting screen anyway!

      @@khanmoran9503 i understood , but a pilote is not supposed to touch all settings of the power management during combat , the only critical settings during combat for a pilote are Shield , weapon power and engine power and you Can see all those 3 things at the same time whitout scrolling anything
      And for ships which has four or more mfds you Can put the first part of the power settings on one screen and the second part on another screen

    I'm already glad to have a few extra keys on my Logitech G keyboard. I'm going to need to add a stream deck or something for all of these extra key binds.
    What I really want from MFDs is sensible selection defaults, specific MFDs could be preset for different modes, for example, win in NAV quantum, wouldn't need anything about target status or shields, but when in SCM guns, those would be important.

      There is a reason real life hotas controls are usually set up with "master modes" like A/G A/A and NAV or similar. Since they are trying to artifically add master modes for physics, why not do the same with mfds?
      The "declutter" for the hud is also quite bad for a fighter like vehicle. Why is something so incredibly important to combat such as speed not shown by your angle indicator and altitude?

    CIG should look at the MFD's in the A-10 in DCS World, or any other military aircraft. The A-10 has the OSB's, which are the buttons on the side of the MFD. Which i notice you do have in that ship! Maybe they will implement these in the future.....lol....CIG's favorite word

    The pips are like Starfield......I wish they wouldn't overcomplicate things

    left-alt T that is used to do the cast, is also the keybind to UN-target a ship.. guessing that's likely the reason why its bugged.. a keybond conflict.

    I use duel alpha constellation prime sticks, with flight pedals also use stream deck XL32 so to program all these new buttons Will be no problem for me. Thank you for the heads up

    Very useful video.
    They have designed the power management incorrectly. It's the wrong way round.
    When it says 5/18. 5 should mean how many out of 18 are allocated, not how many are left.

      If you have no power allocated anywhere and it shows 18/18 or whatever the number, makes sense. Compared to all the other changes, current and future, this is really minuscule.

      Purely subjective. I prefer to see how many remain rather than how many allocated. Nothing to do with objective ‘logic’ - just personal preference.
      In fact, I could go as far as to argue that if there is an ‘objectively more logical’ setup, it’s the current one - because it’s more ‘logically’ useful to INSTANTLY know how much power resource you have left at your disposal, rather than the extra second it might take your brain to calculate how much power you have left when you see 12/25 or something.
      The current system is instant. Reversing this requires the brain to the calculate how much power is left, which is inefficient and therefore less ‘logical’.

    Just what I was looking for!! first a question... My view of the cockpit is too far forward all the time unless I press the F key and then it zooms a little bit. How do I change the view so I can see all the MFDs without having to use the F key to move around?
    2nd... in the connie, only the unselected MFDs have a blue bar (highlighted). The selected one has the MFD background color. I am guessing the programmer that did the connie screwed up or misread the specs for the MFD.
    on the connie, so far shield are on or off. F7 + L-Alt doesn't decrease the shields. :-(

    I think cig need to take a page from games like starfield where you can select one power item and then just have a universal give/take power instead of needing a bind for each system to take and give power

    I wonder if the MFD system will memorize our weapons choice, or will it behave as of today, meaning each time, each time you switch to SMC mode you have to reconfigure all your weapons choice.
    If they manage to improve on this point I'll be happier

    Slowly but surely we will see the behavior become more in line with ED. I know SC wants to be different but the design of the mfds and work flow in ED is just top notch. Managing all those keybindings on a hosas just for the pips on power management seems unrealistic in the new mfd current states.

    Oh good! So I can set both my cannons and my lasers to fire at the same time with the same button. I do this now anyways just by pressing 2 buttons. This I believe is a lot easier. Yes I do play elite dangerous and starfield so I believe I can learn this fast. But if now we have weapon groups like in elite dangerous, does that mean we can install more weapons on one ship?

    Gahd, I hope they included some hud settings somewhere. These new screens are bad enough to start all over again learning what they mean, now my FreeMax has got horrible bright snot/mustard colored images that are so bright it's blinding my view constantly. Wish they could give us a choice to keep the old or use the new MFD.
    Chat was hella upset all night after the forced update. "I can't see", "Where's my speedometer", "This color is awful"....etc.
    Right now I'm still looking for a dimmer setting, or opacity so I can see through this ugly new color better.
    Sometimes kids, change can start wars.

    Are there keybinfs to swap between power "towers"? So for instance, if I wanted to set a mini joystick to "cycle power 'tower's left" and "cycle right" and then use the y axis to do power up or down, is there a way to do that?

    The simple act of shooting #2 button to shoot other guns now requires a key bind and only use one trigger. No, this is going backwards. I bet this is why Chris is slowing everything down, so you can do multiple things. And don't get me going about the power management system.

    I don’t know if this is the right vid to post this but,
    Could you please make a video on sync assassination missions?
    ERTS have a 3% roll chance for wevil eggs and quant for just a 1/7 chance of needed cargo type roll. Illegal group vhrts (Ruto/Eckhart/Twitch sync assassination missions) targets have a minimum 13% chance roll for maze for 4 / 7 of the potential cargo chance roll, with the minimum cargo of about 20%, so the average profit after loot is 2 mil, just this night i found a 32 and 4 SCU box of maze in one mission, and the next mission, a 8 and 1 SCU box of maze, made about 10mil. The ones i have been doing are "double trouble" and "two for the price of two". Also, the sync assassinations are bugged right now and you have to rush to get the cargo out before the mission fails/completes. Could you please find the issue counsel report and help out, it doesn't have enough votes to be confirmed.

      Me and a buddy of mine have been trying to tell people about this contract's potential and buggyness but half the people in game chat have no idea what we're talking about and the other half just ignores us. It's been really frustrating, and any help spreading the word would be much appreciated.

    Wow... gonna take a while to get used to this. Standard keybinds are crap though. Someone else mentioned using the number pad, this is much much more logical.
    Also gameglass is gonna get some mad sales from this.
