Star Jump Fleet Viewer has the updated Polaris model from the PTU just added. it shows the dual hangar doors for cargo and the hidden turrets etc FYI the model is only showing size 9 Torpedoes since the weapons team haven't finished the Size 10s
got myself one 3 years ago roughly. got it for the org and or friends to derp around in. cant wait to see it in my hanger and be able to walk around inside her.
I got myself one, then did a CCU chain to get one way less than MSRP with LTI like I should have done the first time; but you live you learn. Our org plans to operate the Polaris alongside ships like the Hammerhead to allow their relative strengths to help each other.
People don't understand if you have an (Idris / Kraken / Javalin) in an organisation or clan battle and a Polaris jumps in you are probably going to start sweating a lot especially if you're locked into a fight because the way that CIG has talked about the Polaris is it's meant to hit extremely hard and run and even if it does get locked in a fight it's still going to be extremely tough to take out. ( I'm not saying it is the best capital ship but if used correctly it will be deadly. )
If the Polaris don't take out the Idris from it's first strike, and gets locked in a fight with it, the Idris will win 10 out of 10 fights. A brawling contest vs large ships would see the Polaris winner. But against ships it's own size? nah, it won't be extremely hard to take out. It will absolutely be deadly, but it must be used as a submarine.
@@Fantastiie That is a lame patched up entry strictly because the Idris grew in size during production and CIG still needed a small cap ship in the 160m range. I guarantee you, without torpedoes (which do give it a massive advantage) and in a brawling contest, the Polaris will lose every fight, every time, vs any other combat capital ship.
Aside from the costs, CIG also said that they are also aware that SC is a game and that they want players to be able to enjoy their ships. So there will always be a balance. I have a Polaris. Looking forward to its release.

Excellent video and break down! Earned my subscription. I was watching Stardock's live stream going over the design and they did say they believed a Legionnaire would just fit on the hangar. One detail that came out was that they said the Polaris, when it comes in, will be the first ship with a hangar that can re-arm, refuel, and repair ships.
Great video! I just picked one CCU from my Perseus and we'll see how both ships turns out. I admit the crew size issue is a bit concerning but what the Polaris offers for "just" 75 dollars more is crazy compared to the Perseus.
Outstanding overview with great production and sound quality. Your information was accurate, detailed, and up to date. I have no critiques, it was pretty much perfect. Subscribed.
The way I see this ship, and I'll try to stick to the "naval" approach that CIG seems to have: Since I see the IDRIS as a cruiser and the Javelin as a destroyer, I would see the Polaris as a submarine. You try to get into hostile territory or patrol without making too much noise, monitoring your surroundings. You could also pack several mid/small ships to patrol around with you or to scout, since remember, a hangar is to store a ship, but you could have them only use your hangar to refuel, rearm, make emergency repairs, and fly off once done, to stay on the flight longer. You move slowly, probably with all your systems, besides the radar, at mid/low power to lower your signal. And, once you encounter a threat, you could take two approaches: A) You use (the supposed) speed that it has to rush in, deliver your cargo, and rush out. or B) You stay low, slowly approach, lock on, drop, and GTFO. That tactic could be even better if one of your carried ships is an Eclipse, which could position itself exactly on the other side of your target so you could make a pincer attack. I know all of this is just a "castle of sand," but man, am I excited for this thing. Cannot wait to have it.
seeing the javelin as a destroyer and the idris as a cruiser makes no sense speaking in naval terms, should be the otherway round. how i see it is the polaris is a destroyer, if you look at WW2 destroyers they had a mix of guns and torpedoes (except a few which focused more on guns) so it makes sense, the idris is also a destroyer but gun focused (tho tbh its just a light carrier), the Javelin is most defo a cruiser class ship made to brawl with other ships
@@TheRealHIPER You know, I took the destroyer aproach post-WW2 (You know, big ships, with lots of anti-ship missiles) for the Javelin wich, yeah you would be totally right. I do not see the Polar as a WW2 destroyer, primary due to the type of aproach, but you wouln't be on the wrong here either.
@@JohnSrptn117 they have plans to upgun the polaris so that it can hold its own against other capital ships without having to rely on its torpedos, I think by that point it's qualified to be considered a destroyer in both ww2 standards and modern standards (looking at all the missiles and torpedos it has). Reason why I compare SC ships with Ww2 ships is because modern day ships don't use guns much, it's all missiles, now with that reasoning I definitely think the javelin is a heavy cruiser, idris tbh could be considered a light cruiser
@@TheRealHIPER As I understood in WW2 naval terminology: Destroyers acted as the fleet's "Joker," leveraging their speed and maneuverability for tasks that larger vessels couldn't handle as efficiently. (Idris) Cruisers functioned as an intermediate class in terms of firepower and size, providing greater offensive capabilities while maintaining some level of agility. (Retribution) Battleships were the premier capital ships, equipped with the most powerful guns and the thickest armor for direct engagements. and Submarines played with stealth and surprise attacks, using their ability to operate underwater to target enemy ships undetected. So polaris would be a mix between a sub and a Destroyer o.o? And the Javelin would be a Cruiser/Modern Destroyer I gues?
@@JohnSrptn117 yeah that all sounds about right but don't forget the distinction between a CL and a CA. Also does the polaris even have any stealth capabilities?
Also the Polaris has 20% signature reduction on IR EM and Cross-section, making it a bit more suitable for stealth operations. I got mine for $420, and am already creating documents for it, like a crew roster. 14 crew is a lot of seats, but just think of the fun times!
Such exciting times for Star Citizen and us backers, can only imagine the buzz Chris Roberts gets knowing his vision is coming to fruition. I got mine with a saving of about $520ish, which im happy about. As a backer for about 5+ yrs ive finally knuckled down with a decent fleet and the core large ships including the Nautilus and Orion, i would luv an Idris, yet i dont really want the logistics of exceeding the Polaris crew count, i still need to join a Group/Org, i have been solo until now, and am excited to explore all the game loops and depth Org gameplay brings to the table. Like your approach to forward planning. Kudos
@@Space-Tech its in the XML, but I feel like this does kinda go with the whole idea of the ship, being well prepared for launching ground strike missions without drawing too much attention. Its like the largest ship you'd use for an elite strike team.
@@ShadowGirl- Those are placeholder stats from 890j. 900 nav speed will stay, scm will be no higher than 100 m/s. Signature will be the same as the idris, since RSI does not make stealth shielding.
One thing I want to know or Id love to see from the Polaris is the ability to strike ground targets with its torpedos from low orbit. Say youre raiding a bunker. 2 torpedos onto the surface of that bunker all the turrets are destroyed and whatever ground support they have is crippled allowing the landing crew to get in unscathed. That would be amazing
I always a wanted a polaris, I really loved getting the bigger ships, but over the last 2 years I started downsizing, based on crewing concerns and the engineering gameplay, the maintenance work + effort into properly crewing these ships is gonna be too much hassle not worth it for me. When I saw in the org how... clumsy people are when just trying to man a hammerhead, like I was at the meeting point 5-10 minutes after we decided to, but others took half an hour so me and ship owner were just sitting around waiting, this concern grows the more crew is needed and now with engineer that's even worse. As such I've basically scrapped all big ships off my list, melted my liberator, odyssey and polaris (just got an ILW 10-year insurance instead of my LTI one). The biggest I have left now are the carrack (the only reason I still have that is cause it's red alert, otherwise I would've melted that too), 600i explorer and perseus. Everything else is medium sized (Vulcan, Apollo, Zeus MR and A1) and small like fighters (C8R, harbinger, ares ion, hurricane) and ursa medical. At the end of last year my account value was just over 6000, now it's sitting at 3600~ as I also sold off some of my credit to the gray market. Had some real buyer's remorse as in hindsight I wish I hadn't spent so much on the game and just kept it to my original weekend warrior (super hornet) starter pack upgraded to harbinger, then earn everything else in-game.
If the cargo doors are big enough for snub fighters, I would use the cargo bay to house defensive craft, and use the actual hanger for repair/refuel and to store a craft with more utility, like a shuttle or scout. For piracy you have to have a mantis in the hanger. :)
fate of bedlogging was addressed in SCL a week or 2 before 3.23 went live. they want to keep it, make it better, and give some sort of "good night's sleep" buff, as well as have you be able to log out anywhere and log back in where you were.
Polaris should come with a RSI Nursa, becuase it makes the most sense and they should increase the vehicle bay size so that it may accommodate a tank. Just a few hopeful dreams from a Polaris owner. Also, similar to you, I just upgraded my concept Carrack to the Polaris with $106, so in total, I paid $406 for this ship which is a banger deal imo
I have one, but it's not my largest. If you think the Polaris will be expensive to run, the Jav will really hurt! I plan on taking the Jav out to BFE and chill!
I think Grim from StarJump confirmed the increase of cargo with the increase of the size of the ship. Since he directly has information from CIG because of the fleetviewer.
A lot of the XML data is placeholder, I'm sure Grim would caution against taking it as gospel right now, especially because the cargo hold isn't modeled yet, even in the files. Wonder if it's including the room used for torps or if it completely placeholder
@Space-Tech yeah he definitely did warn against the XML data. I guess I am inclined to believe the cargo bay has increased in size because CIG did say the Polaris is larger now, and the XML file shows basically double the original cargo capacity. I also want to believe it for selfish reasons 😄
yeah, I have also been away for a while. I heard somewhere that the Polaris cargo had been increased. I'm looking at using it as a cargo trader. while a Polaris might fear another Polaris or Idris, the typical pirate fleet ain't gonna want to tangle with a Polaris. with those 7 big turrets, you have a fairly decent fighter screen, and you can nuke anything larger than a Connie. maybe stick an ION in as your fighter, and half a dozen Snubs...
i picked up a polaris for my small org. We will be treating is more as a small base, using it to unload cargo from salvage and other runs, even though a Hercules, Hull series or even the caterpillar would be better.... and cheaper.
im going to call it right now. The anvil hurricane will end up being this ships best hanger fighter to compliment its playstyle. for the soul fact that its very much like the polaris where its designed to come in fast and hard with an overwhelming amount of firepower and then get out fast. just imagine the two in tandem ambushing a large vessal and/or its accompanying escort. also, since its such a narrow ship, in theory it may be possible to even fit in 2 hurricanes in the hangar as its only 14.5m by 22m. another big advantage could potentially be logistics in that since it also rocks size 4 weapons like the polaris, we could potentially be reserving large amounts of size 4 weapons in storage that can universally be used either to repair the turrets of the polaris OR the damaged weapons on the hurricane.
I think Polaris, Hammerhead, and Perseus will be a large ship strike team. Polaris for command and control + heavy strike damage on large capital ships. Hammerhead as a defensive anti-torpedo and anti-fighter screen to protect the Polaris. While the Perseus takes out larger ships that would threaten Polaris and bring sustained damage and precision targeting on large ships and capital ships that the Polaris is engaging.
@@Space-Tech This is so true, we are going to need NPC crew and or AI blades to make it viable. I could see people using AI/NPC for the 2 point defense turrets on Persus which will drop your crew need down from 6 to 4. and Hammerhead use AI/NP for top and bottom turret to drop its crew requirement to from 8 to 6. Polaris I feel like most the turrets could be NPC or AI controlled especially because they are largely defensive, maybe manning the large S5 turret. That could save what 4 or 5 people. bringing the crew to some where around 8-10. 20 people is a pretty large group, but I think its doable, at least for an org event of some kind.
Missiles are so useless right now, im concerned the torpedoes being its main method of engagement, will make the Polaris far less effective than she should be. I fired off 3 torpedoes in my eclipse against the Bugsmasher pirate swarm idris, about 4000km away. The Idris was the last ship left, it's turrets were engaged fighting the UEE fighters and two other UEE Idris. The torps didn’t even make it 500m before the point defense systems took them down. In order to torp a ship, they basically need to be "dead in the water". The point defense systems will need to be disabled first, even then the engines will need to be disabled as well to prevent the target from flaring off the torp and moving.
It's such a cool ship, but I'm afraid that such powerful missiles will make gunships like the perseus completely obsolete. Why go broadside with a ship and take a while to kill it when you can send one torp from miles away and leave? I know there are anti torp measures, but there's no way you couldn't just send a few to ensure a kill. How do you balance that?
Percy is meant for HH sized ships, Polaris is for capitals. A HH would be able to shoot down a size 10 torp easily (if CIG doesn't fuck up balancing). Percy will still have it's place
It'll also be a lot harder to land a size 10 torp on smaller ships! Remember these things aren't nimble! Regardless you're right these should be stupid expensive imo
[Question] to the spec guru's ''is it true that the Javelin doesn't come equiped with ship weapons, which needs to be purchased''?. Also, is anyone interested in the ''Anvil Liberator'', its a ship with multiple gameplay loops, can be used by any average sized Group/Org and is affordable?.
I've heard it go both ways, that the Javelin will and won't have to be completely outfitted once we're in game. I'd cautiously say it's likely we'll have to purchase it's weapons. As for the the liberator, it can't come fast enough! Going to open up a lot of gameplay in larger systems :)
@@Space-Tech There reason i asked was purely out of curiousity, the content creator seemed genuine enough, yet where a ship like the Javelin is conserned, not to far removed. The Liberator is a ship that has potential for even modest groups/Orgs, being at heart a transport vessel. One other point he made, was its openess to be landed upon in flight...couldn't you just flip the ship in flight if your not transporting?
Honestly, it comes down to how many friends you have. The Perseus may not have the features of the Polaris, but you also don't need a small army to get the most out of it either. What's the point of owning a ship if you don't have enough people around to actually get the most out of it?
I highly doubt it, but it would be great if the Polaris radar showed the range (colored ring) of the hostile ships radar to aid in not being detected? ;-) Once "blind spot" were mentioned, I envisioned the Captain ordering evasive maneuvers to the Pilot (thus warning gunners) to bring any lesser used or unused weapons to bare for its defense and hopefully, placing the "blind spot" to a location not being attacked (surprising the enemy)? This would provide the Captain and Pilot roleplaying opportunities and having the gunners and XO adapt to the changes of targets (maybe a break)? Hm, maybe swap out the 32 size three missiles with (qty ?) size two "Rattler" (7 micro-missiles each) missiles?
I am interested in the Polaris & the Capital ship GamePlay it can bring, we know that the Idris will be a mighty bruiser, a bull dog that can fight even with the big boys. (Javelin or bigger) However - if the Torpedoes of the Polaris are not made to be effective, then it will be an issue for it to take on high value targets. The recent decision CIG shared with us on the last episode of ISC before their break in June, to consider upsizing the guns on the Polaris will be what makes this ship a serious consideration. I believe that for PvE bounty missions, search & rescue, due to the radar size maybe even exploration can be a viable alternative for this ship. It will be great for all for all of the above. Maybe even the pinnacle of that loop. Lets hope it can participate in large scale engagements and not just to exist as a big bully for the ships under the Capital size. I currently own an Arrastra, which i believe will be a very valuable ship in the future, however i am considering a very nice chain where i can get the Polaris for a good decent discount. (over 40% as my Arra is already heavily discounted) I am just wondering if my other ships can offset the costs of running such a big ship. Lets hope it will be able to chain ERT contracts 1after the other. And that having light capital ship armor is sufficient for it to survive in dangerous engagements. If nothing else it is one of the best looking ships to date, even the interior is looking great so far. When they finish it i think it will be an incredible experience to be a marine on board a Polaris.
I am really confused by the whole Death of a spaceman thing. Why do I need escape pods when respawning in the med bay isn't a big thing after dying in that fighter? Also you will be dying during FPS so often without being rescued that that one time a Polaris is destroyed doesn't matter right? Hope they find a nice balance.
Been a Perseus guy for a long time.. my dream is to protect flank for a Polaris in an Org combat role. I like your term "bruiser" for the Pers. I wouldn't want to fight a Polaris in something like a Perseus, tho.
Agreed, the Perseus definitely fights well with the perseus, not against haha. Absolutely love the Perseus design, can't wait to see it after the Galaxy!
I didn't realise I wanted this ship until after Invictus Fleet Week was over. Dang! I actually have a Carrack w/C8X LTI pack, I wonder if I should upgrade it... My only concern is that next time the Polaris will be on sale, the price will be so jacked up that I just cant justify spending what CIG will be asking for it.
@@Space-Tech I've actually never heard of CCU chaining. I've melted ships before, but then I've bought other ships again. I'm not familiar with the term CCU chaining though.
I would rather have the peruses because of the armor. The Polaris will more than likely need the peruses as much as the peruses needs the Polaris but it all comes down to how you want to attack. Want to be strategic go with the Polaris. You want to attack without thinking use the peruses. Put them together and throw a hammerhead for small fighters, and no one will be able to compete lol.
The Polaris is going to make one heck of an escort ship. As long as you have a competent crew it won't take long before economic orgs start putting up security fees to easily cover operation costs. I'm confident about the ease of finding missions for the Polaris because of the stipulation "competent crew", any skilled player is worth his weight in gold and an organized combat group is priceless. It's going to be hilarious watching all the under-manned capitol ships getting hijacked by pirates.
I'm not sure it will be a good escort ship. It has very little in the way of guns. With how poor the gun set up if the target isn't a cap ship then the polaris is going to struggle. It isn't going to be good for escorting much with its current load out.
@@Subtleknife12367 I guess it could be said that a bomber wing is much more efficient, but the Polaris is basically the direct counter to an Idris, and I do expect to see a lot of pirate Idris in the PU (since 90% of Idris owners will have their ship stolen from them on the first week of use... Actually I pretty much expect every Pirate org to have a fleet of Idrises).
i find it kinda weird for them to put it on the floor and make it the main focus of the trailers to not release it and just sell it, im assuming its not actually finished which i understand but i feel like i got hyped they were gonna be adding it when in reality it was just a ship sale ;-;
x28 S10 torps reamer with ease... :D camikadze and Polaris with LTI get back with all torps back. We all know that that will be a gameplay. And that why I almost sure somehow its will be nerfed.
those missiles only go 250 I hope CIG is going to change this. You could only hope to hit someone who is not moving, to be a spear it has to move fast enough, and this is not making since. They also show to be size 9 so idk if that is a mistake they have to fix or they went back on their size design. Anyways for the price of this if there is a large enough cry, they will offset a lot of the cost or scale back some of the burden, they have shown a shift when there is a large enough group not liking the huge overall exhaustive measures just to play the game.
The current missiles are definitely a placeholder! We know that it should have size 10s so those are probably still in development. Overall it'll be interesting to see the impact of MM on missiles, if imagine hitting someone who's already I combat will get a lot easier
SpaceTech is right, Grim from Starjump compared the torpedo size to the torpedo tube. it looks like the size 10 torpedos that are coming will be 44% larger then the size 9.... thats a LOT of power.
I'm pretty sure that's a placeholder, unless the news came from CIG? If it's from the XML then I wouldn't trust it since the XML also had size 9s instead of 10s, there's a lot that's still in development with this ship
I'm very interested to see how they balance these torpedos. I maintain that taking out an Idris from 40 kilometers away is not balanced. I hope they are VERY expensive, as well as vulnerable to automatic defense turrets.
If the Polaris is hilariously expensive to operate, CIG is going to find that all its users will be turning to Piracy; even has enough room for a Cutlass, I think.
Looks like Eclipse could be fit into Polaris. Nice roleplay Polaris corvete with mega torps and Eclipse stealth bomber with good torps, and you will be able to restok while in space. Imagine. You come to mission. Stop before enemies detect you. Come out with Eclipse hi hit hit from 5-9km with stealth mode, so no detection for you. Come back. Restock. Come back to get more enemies. We could only imagine how big a difficult missions could be. I think for capital shils will be equwalent missions. Like for Galactic matter or at least for system whre are you fighting for. One not best aspect is that. Capitals will be hunted. When game will be released. We will get wars. Clans\guilds\just gankers. 750k shields, with all into shield that will be ever 1kk. Lets say 1kk shield. How many Size 9 torps need? Size 9 tops do something arond 100-150k damage. If formula of damage similar to EVE Online (bigger targed more damage). So need 7-10 Size 9 torps. So that 3-4 Eclipse in squad. That is real. And that will be REAL pain for ALL big ships. And they will not able to do nothing with that. I dont beleave that all Large or Capital ship will be fully equpped with crew. Most of ships will be played as solo. You could play once, twice. But after some time you will be tired of difficult gameplay of Large or Cap sships. So AI will do better job for sub and cap ships. It will be possible to manage. Imagine 10 Size 9 torps price is 3-5k lets say even 10k so 100k \\\Price of Polaris will be something 30KK and more. Plus some stock and gear on ship. Same thing with BanuM and Idris and other ships. I dont know how. But BIG don't mean good. At least for now. Probably torps will be countered by other torps. Im suprpriced why ingame still no beam lasers... They will be 100% counter torps.
It was my understanding that the hangar walls sloped inward or at least that’s what the STARJUMP guy said when they were modeling it for the StarHangar off the holo model. They also said that is why the hangar floor extracts to roof surface level, so that if whatever fits while the floor is raised, it’s sure to fight when retracting back down
Nice review. But not for solo players and I do not like gameplay I am constantly forced to teamplay. So this is off the shopping list no matter the looks. It is of no use for us and just a p2w aspect.
Alright hear me out..captain Jack Sparrow here, to my fellow pirates…what say ye we get a crew of 5 together and hunt down any Polaris owner, immobilize the ship so it can’t jump, board it, take out its crew, take the ship, unload all of its size 10 torpedos so that we can sell them at half their market price. That’s 28 torpedos that if they cost 2 million AUEC for example we can sell for 1 million a piece. That’s 28 million AUEC that we can split 5 ways. We can do this once a day and be legends for it. Savy?
I think you’re underestimating the difficulty of boarding a ship like that, and another issue I’ve seen a lot of people overlook is the fact you can’t actually know for certain how many people are going to be inside of a ship like that, could be 1 could be 17
@@DomBogey94 Yeah no, it's a cap ship for multicrew gameplay the pilot should not get that power If you want that go buy a retaliator or eclipse not a capital ship
750k damage from a torp!? Have you actually tried hitting a multicrew ship with a torp in 3.23x? Ai gunners actively shoot down torps.. more like 750k credits before you realise they are worthless.
The torpedoes wil be completely useless. They wil be so slow anyone will be able to either outrun them or shoot them down. Torpedo gameplay is bad due to poor design its criminal.

The way I see this ship, and I'll try to stick to the "naval" approach that CIG seems to have:
Since I see the IDRIS as a cruiser and the Javelin as a destroyer, I would see the Polaris as a submarine.
And, once you encounter a threat, you could take two approaches:
A) You use (the supposed) speed that it has to rush in, deliver your cargo, and rush out.
or
B) You stay low, slowly approach, lock on, drop, and GTFO.
@@TheRealHIPER As I understood in WW2 naval terminology:
Destroyers acted as the fleet's "Joker," leveraging their speed and maneuverability for tasks that larger vessels couldn't handle as efficiently.
(Idris) Cruisers functioned as an intermediate class in terms of firepower and size, providing greater offensive capabilities while maintaining some level of agility.
(Retribution) Battleships were the premier capital ships, equipped with the most powerful guns and the thickest armor for direct engagements.
and
Submarines played with stealth and surprise attacks, using their ability to operate underwater to target enemy ships undetected.
Interesting, is there mention of this in its marketing or is the xml the first we're seeing of this?
@@gutsbobbles7973 No, the 890 doesn’t have that speed or reduced signature. These are not lifted 890 stats, one look at erkul can show you.
Very nice video, got my Polaris for $280.
That's a sweet price, thanks for the support!
Damn, and I was happy about my $450 Polaris...
It should be able to use torps against ground targets with signatures I'd imagine
They said they are gonna up gun the turrets.
fate of bedlogging was addressed in SCL a week or 2 before 3.23 went live. they want to keep it, make it better, and give some sort of "good night's sleep" buff, as well as have you be able to log out anywhere and log back in where you were.
The crew size was my reason for getting the Perseus instead. The Carrack is my other Large ship; beyond that, I don't need much more.
Hell yeah dude, great foresight honestly :)
I plan to solo this lol
Good luck soldier o7
Polaris should come with a RSI Nursa, becuase it makes the most sense and they should increase the vehicle bay size so that it may accommodate a tank. Just a few hopeful dreams from a Polaris owner. Also, similar to you, I just upgraded my concept Carrack to the Polaris with $106, so in total, I paid $406 for this ship which is a banger deal imo
I recently upgraded my Carrack to the Polaris, currently gathering a crew for the ultimate multi-crew experience!
Hell yeah dude, it's gonna be so much fun
I didn’t think I’d be exited about the Polaris, as I have the Perseus and Idris, but I’m very exited about this ship!
Hey work they put into this will translate directly to a faster perseus as well!
I have one, but it's not my largest. If you think the Polaris will be expensive to run, the Jav will really hurt! I plan on taking the Jav out to BFE and chill!
Got one with LTI. I think that's as big as I'm going to go. Hope the F7A Mk2 fits in it, looks like it will.
This bad boi is gonna have me running all sorts of missions. It’s got almost anything you could want to explore, hunt and more.
According to Erkul the Polaris has 432 SCU of cargo now.
I'd be cautious about using erkul for hard numbers right now since the interior isn't done yet 😅 432 would be awesome though
I also want to believe it for selfish reasons 😄
thx, im agree with you on everything.
Appreciate your support!
Nice content dude, would like to see a video on ccu to large ships like the Perseus and Polaris.
yeah, I have also been away for a while. I heard somewhere that the Polaris cargo had been increased. I'm looking at using it as a cargo trader. while a Polaris might fear another Polaris or Idris, the typical pirate fleet ain't gonna want to tangle with a Polaris. with those 7 big turrets, you have a fairly decent fighter screen, and you can nuke anything larger than a Connie. maybe stick an ION in as your fighter, and half a dozen Snubs...
great video!
Thank you!
Yey... I have that ship... I will use that ship to deliver boxes
I hope they get to talk more about it during tomorrow’s live stream, we haven’t mentioned about it for a while now
Great video. Subbed
i picked up a polaris for my small org. We will be treating is more as a small base, using it to unload cargo from salvage and other runs, even though a Hercules, Hull series or even the caterpillar would be better.... and cheaper.
The heart wants what the heart wants!
im going to call it right now.
If it wasn't for the absolutely insane amount of crew needed for this I think we'd see this trio a good bit
I'm thinking ships like the HH, and Polaris will need a few Engineers at least, but as you mention for org events it would be so cool as a 3v3
So pleased I own one of these. Especially as a solo player 😅😅😅
Good luck, soldier o7 you're gonna love the ship regardless!
Other solo player here! Polaris will be the best solo daily driver!
Agreed, torpedoes are balanced on a knifes edge usually
This could change with electronic warfare that CIG has yet to make.
@Admiral_Grufus good point. I hope the torps are also expensive enough that it wouldn't be cost effective to obliterate smaller ships with them
It'll also be a lot harder to land a size 10 torp on smaller ships! Remember these things aren't nimble! Regardless you're right these should be stupid expensive imo
@@Space-Tech i never got why the torps in SC are so slow. they wouldnt be in irl considering its both in space, and no line.
Hey thank you for the information on this ship. I was thinking between the Polaris or Perseus
Honestly, it comes down to how many friends you have. The Perseus may not have the features of the Polaris, but you also don't need a small army to get the most out of it either. What's the point of owning a ship if you don't have enough people around to actually get the most out of it?
Facts!!!
Of course! Glad you found it informative :)
BRO I HAVE TO HAVE THIS SHIP
I highly doubt it, but it would be great if the Polaris radar showed the range (colored ring) of the hostile ships radar to aid in not being detected? ;-)
Once "blind spot" were mentioned, I envisioned the Captain ordering evasive maneuvers to the Pilot (thus warning gunners) to bring any lesser used or unused weapons to bare for its defense and hopefully, placing the "blind spot" to a location not being attacked (surprising the enemy)?
This would provide the Captain and Pilot roleplaying opportunities and having the gunners and XO adapt to the changes of targets (maybe a break)?
Hm, maybe swap out the 32 size three missiles with (qty ?) size two "Rattler" (7 micro-missiles each) missiles?
I don’t know why I was thinking that this was bigger than the 890. So I guess the 890 will still be the largest capital ship released for now.
I will say the Polaris feels bigger to walk around because of how wide it is
I am interested in the Polaris & the Capital ship GamePlay it can bring, we know that the Idris will be a mighty bruiser, a bull dog that can fight even with the big boys. (Javelin or bigger)
However - if the Torpedoes of the Polaris are not made to be effective, then it will be an issue for it to take on high value targets.
CCU chaining can still get you a good chunk off if you're patient!
@@Space-Tech I've actually never heard of CCU chaining. I've melted ships before, but then I've bought other ships again. I'm not familiar with the term CCU chaining though.

@@Space-Tech no your doing an awesome job I just bought an idris and would be interested to hear your opinion about it.
Sounds good dude! Appreciate it and I'll add it to the list!
Until they run into a grown up sized ship…
Call me crazy, but Polaris is the only ship I own, meaning it will also be my daily driver! I DO have a Reliant Tana to put in the hangar.
Torpedos should be powerful.
But like top shelf long range missles. It should COST like a small ship....
Will base building for resource help be a supply ability to keep support for this ship?
Will there be AI crew option in the near future to hire and operate with to run full?
Near future? No. Eventually? It's possible but don't count on it to be able to do all roles
Oh yeah, I think solo Polaris owners are going to have a rough go of it for sure 😅
Using CCUs, I got the polaris for $285 - which is what I'm willing to put on this ship
Can a port space station be built for home base or income commerce?
Can the eclipse fit in the hangar of the Polaris?
Not at my PC right now but I think it would if you park it perpendicular
Well something that the Polaris would go up against say like the Idris that has 22.5 mil HP so even 4 torps shouldn't kill it.
Don't need to kill it. Disabling one component can be as bad as death

We all know that that will be a gameplay.
And that why I almost sure somehow its will be nerfed.
in 3.23.1 polaris has only S9 Torpedos... hope S10 will come soon ;)
Yeah the size 9 is a placeholder, don't worry :D
those missiles only go 250 I hope CIG is going to change this.
Hey ShadowGirl! Glad to hear it :)
the scu is bumped up to 432 SCU btw news came out a few days ago
I'm pretty sure that's a placeholder, unless the news came from CIG? If it's from the XML then I wouldn't trust it since the XML also had size 9s instead of 10s, there's a lot that's still in development with this ship

Otherwise Anything Larger that more of Medius shilps will be dead.
I need to make a mini org just for this ship lol
Too real :')
It was my understanding that the hangar walls sloped inward or at least that’s what the STARJUMP guy said when they were modeling it for the StarHangar off the holo model.
They also said that is why the hangar floor extracts to roof surface level, so that if whatever fits while the floor is raised, it’s sure to fight when retracting back down
I probably wouldnt base much of any of this off of erkuls draw from the game files.
This all feels VERY placeholder
Yup, didn't pull anything from erkul other than the current shield health but I mention that it's the relative strength that's valuable right now :)
Nice review. But not for solo players and I do not like gameplay I am constantly forced to teamplay. So this is off the shopping list no matter the looks. It is of no use for us and just a p2w aspect.
Thank you! You're 100% right that it's not going to be a good time for solo players

They should have at Least 100 people on it from being Bored.
Gib Polaris!
Gib!
So this ship isn't for someone with no friends?
Nah! im returning this ship, it really has nothing I need at this time
Honestly, props for realizing!
its already flying around in the game - erkul has the stats, the size 10 torps are 395k, not 750
Nope. Erkul doesn't have info for size 10s, and the 12s are obviously placeholder since they aren't used
I said I well never spend money on star citizen again what am I doing now paying for a goddam Polaris 207 euros upgrade from my M2 😂 gaddamit
750k damage from a torp!? Have you actually tried hitting a multicrew ship with a torp in 3.23x? Ai gunners actively shoot down torps.. more like 750k credits before you realise they are worthless.
yes yes everybody now want to buy it and then they gonna nerf it as always
So it is going to be completely useless in-game in practice then.
Can't fit a mole in there
I don't know if the Mole can fit in anything smaller than a Bengal tbh haha
The torpedoes wil be completely useless. They wil be so slow anyone will be able to either outrun them or shoot them down. Torpedo gameplay is bad due to poor design its criminal.
So... what if a 890 ram the polaris😂
