I keep a AAA membership and have used it to help drunk bikers get home more than I've used it for my own breakdowns.

      Yeah
We don’t drink while out riding
Take keys, I’ve been punched and had to take the shots until the drunk guy got exhausted and then he felt it and came to his senses. Allowed me to take his keys and put him on the back of my bike and tied him to me on the way home in case he was to fall off chest to back
I thank you for looking out

Where I live there is no legal limit, so if you're riding, you're not drinking. Even if there was, I would never touch alcohol if I'm riding. I like beer and whisky, but fortunately I also like soda. So I can have a good time and still get home safely.

My riding club has had this general rule for ages, on a club ride, no one drinks, and it works very well. We had a recent ride and one of the new riders was not hanging out with the rest of us, and the chapter president sent someone to look for him to be sure he wasn't hiding to drink, because if he was, he was riding home alone.

Simple solution is to create some time to chat with them by disabling their bike. Unplug something important on it, let the air out of one tire, or pick up their key while they are distracted. That way you dont have to fight with anyone. I got AAA so its not hard to offer them a tow.

A couple months ago we had our anniversary and we had this guy who nobody knew and had a couple to many. As the vp I went to talk to him but he threatened me. Didn't want to make a big deal out of it since he was way too drunk and was a danger if we kicked him out, so I just told the guy at the bar to not give him anything else and our Sgt at arms to keep an eye on him. A couple minutes later I went to check on him and he was talking to some guys from a 1 percent support club and saw him take out a knife, I obviously got worried it could escalate to something really bad. Fortunately the guys from the support club forced him to sit down and took his keys, when I went to talk to them they gave me his keys and told me not to let him go or he could cause an accident. So I had to play nanny for a 30 year old all night until we finally figured out who to call to come get him

I like how the law is in Sweden since around 2000, where they change to a zero alcohol limit.
It sends a message. "It's not OK o drink and drive/ride at all." This has had effect socially, so if you see someone drink, at all, you do no let them drive/ride. People who do is seen as not responsible.
Could someone drive with a beer or two? Probably. But people soon lose count, they start calculating "I had five beers, but it was three hours ago, and I had a bite to eat, so I'm probably good... I think it was five beers...". With a zero limit, that's not happening. When you go somewhere with intent to drink, you arrange other transport. Period.
Another aspect is that accidents happen, alcohol or not. Say that I hit and kill someone. I want to at least feel that I did everything I could to drive/ride safely. I don't want to have to wonder "If I hadn't had that drink, would I have been a split second faster, could I have avoided the accident?".

Valid points. With us being in Vegas we deal with drunk drivers way too much. A zero point limit doesn't sound like a bad idea

Great info about how to approach someone!! We have 2 recovering clubs in Tucson Other Clubs even a 1% often approach 1 of the Clubs to talk to there member about a drinking and/ or a drug problem. I have “sponsored” several women who have been with 1% partner who feels totally uncomfortable going to a 12 Step Meeting. It has been a privilege to work with them in recovery!! As a recovering addict myself & understand many of the issues that go on. I can help them navigate thru both sides. In fact I’m going to a join some friends after they get out of “church “ & have a barbecue ‼️‼️ Today I can go be around the drinking & stay clean & sober myself. Enjoy your weekend!! Look forward to your “ big announcement “!! ENJOY THE RIDE ‼️. 🌵🥵

Poker runs are big in the South. They go to bar to bat, get a drink and a chip. Ive tossed keys in the woods several times. Completely sober by the time they find them. Of course im gearred up with engine running. I ride a sports tourer. No fight and no way im hell theyll catch me.

It actually was really nice outside but it started to rain minutes after we finished recording. In Las Vegas that's not good because the roads out here become very slippery after it rains because we get so very little of it during the year.

Maybe instead of directly helping, maybe a phone call or talking to someone that may know them might be a better option for the larger clubs.

I'll have a brew, but if I want more than one, I switch to no alcohol beer. No it isn't the same as real beer, but I can't have sugar and cannot stand diet drinks, so it's a good option. Everyone I ride with does not participate in cruisin' & boozin'. I have never had to approach anyone on this matter, but I do know someone who got busted after leaving the biker bar. The bar called the cops on him when he was leaving.
