  • In this video, Rudy goes over the removal of the stock suspension on a 10th Gen Civic. The process is often necessary when performing different upgrades, such as installing coilovers, swapping out the springs, or upgrading the sway bar in some instances.

    I did this job myself and it took me 2 days to do all 4 corners LMAO. The front struts took 3/4 of the time. I couldn't get the freakin struts separated from the steering knuckle no matter how hard i pressed down on the lower control arm! And yes, I undid the 3 bolts holding the lower control arm to the ball joint. I ended up manhandling those things out of there by compressing the springs and removing the top end of the strut first instead of removing the bottom end of the strut first. I did end up damaging the inner fender liner and panel itself a fair amount... it is not a job I ever want to tackle again unless somebody can magically show me how to remove the struts like butter like how they do in this video.

    What torque is needed for the flange nuts on top of the front struts under the hood for 2017 honda civic?

    Anyone here wish it was that easy to remove the strut in like 5 seconds comparing to like 1 hour.

    Really wish Honda would ditch this front strut design. It makes suspension swaps more work than necessary. Just like BMW.

    Some people are complaining about ripping their CV boot. Any tips to avoid this?

    • @K20_SL0W
      @K20_SL0W 3 года назад

      Yeah just take it out slow and watch the cv axle boot if your spindle is moving too far toward you it may tear so you can always use a bungie cord to hold it up OR unscrew the cv boot hose clap a bit to loosen it

    Any tips on how to put the strut back on ?

    • @steezy2989
      @steezy2989 2 года назад +1

      Literally the same exact process bro expect you gotta put the shock inside the hole where it first was, then you screw everything back just like how he took them off except give the screws that hold up the spindle from the top ones to the bottom ones a good amount of more force because those basically hold up the shock in place so the tighter they are the better but not too tight either

      Bro i have 43K miles on mine and front passenger already giving me issues, it makes like a cracking noise/thump when i accelerate or hit a small dip. I also have some other issues but nothing major thankfully, these new gen hondas suck ass. They dont build them like before.

    My 18 civic makes a popping sound driver side when going over bumps, already replaced the driver cv axle, could it be the strut or what else can it be
