Hi I just felt I should give a comment. I used to live about twenty miles south of Osoyoos, B.C. In the hills about an hour out of Tonasket, Wa. I lived this lifestyle for many years. 40 years ago, there was a constant three feet of snow and -20 degree temperatures. Starting Thanksgiving, until March. As you know it becomes normal. We had 14 horses, a milk cow, chickens, I had a one horse open sleigh and a 100 year old buggy I restored brand new. I miss those days, there is nothing like being a horseman, with the smells, power and love! I came over to Bali before Corona, and have been here since. It’s around 78 to 80 degrees everyday, but we have fresh Mahi-mahi and Mangoes. I look at Amerika, and think to myself, No Thanks! I will someday go back there, but I’m just gonna wait awhile, until things calm down a bit. The Gov. here wants all tourists to have both doses of the.vaxx, plus insurance, money in the bank, and no backpacks! It seems they only want rich folks, which will kill all the small hotels, restaurants, motorbike renters. I hope they don’t get that strict. Anyway I like your shows. Don’t freeze your tootsies! Peace, Dennis
I was going to comment that a running time indicator at one corner of the video would be very informative for people like me who sees sun for about 12 hours a day
Greetings from Ireland, we are deep in another COVID lockdown, limited to movement within 5km of home and only essential travel for shopping, unless you work. Ye have all ye need, each other and the fruits of your garden and the wildlife, stay safe and be happy
Our numbers are also very high and we're asked to abide curfew to help stop the spread. I pray this pandemic will get under control soon. Until then stay safe!
We lived in Anchorage from 1976 to 1980. With our 2 children, we had a great experience... that crunch when walking on zero degree snow brought back many memories! Thank you guys & God bless.
I know a lot of folks will watch this and be like "How can you live like this, it's a lot of work"? I on the other hand envy you. Something as easy as making breakfast is such a process that you both share together equally. I love it!!! I wish I had the money to purchase land right now, me and the dogs would be out!!! Be safe guys, love your vids.
I love your channel. Reminds me of when Poppy and I were young. We have lived very similar lives in the backwoods of West Virginia and are now celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary. Land sakes we have worked hard all our lives but its true the old adage..if you take care of the land it will take care of you. We still keep a milk cow and chickens and hogs and a couple beefers. I never had the gas stove, I've cooked on an1879 wood cook stove for 45 years. The memories you two will make will sustain you in the future. Its a blessing to live this way, a lot of work but nobody gets lazy. Your dogs are precious. We have 7 and a haflinger horse that Poppy brings logs down the mountain with. The grandchildren just love it here. Be blessed young un's.

You said it ! It’s the way life should be lived! I worked 40 hours a week but not now. I grow much of my own food- I stretch the money I do have and sonething ate my hens 😪 and it wasn’t me. I’m getting some come spring though. I MISS my hens.

I can't wait... my fiance and I are going to look at land this summer in Alaska we're hoping to build a cabin Off Grid as well... we've been planning this for nine years for hoping by our 10-year anniversary will be moved up in Alaska
I'm so happy to hear that, I also live in alaska and I would definitely suggest living either nearby them (Willow) or buying land on the kenai peninsula (where I live). The mat-su valley is on a grand scale and is gorgeous. The kenai peninsula is a little more tight knit. Homer and the kachemak bay is gorgeous and everything is a day trip away. But we are much farther away from anchorage, and thus more mainstream grocery/retail outlets. Soldotna is a good in between for a lot of people. They still have retail outlets and are close to Homer but are only 2 hours away (as opposed to 3-4 hours).
Do it! We moved here 25 years ago. We were in our 40s. Should have done it the first time talked about it, when we were 20 years young. It was the best decision we ever made.
I moved here in 79 when I was only 26. I have always lived in the Meadow Lakes area and love it. I remember when I’d drive from Wasilla to where I live on a winter evening and not see another car.on the Parks. We also have an off grid/ road place east of Talkeetna. Except for no indoor toilet it has pretty much everything a regular home has with hot and cold running water and solar power.

My Grandfather used to fill sawdust in my Grandmother's old pantyhose and let it soak in a pail of water by the woodstove. The amount of work that you guys do in a day is amazing. Really enjoying the snow scenes. I especially liked the tours of your vegetable garden. Great content!
Love your content, simple is incredibly incorrect in your channel name. The amount of work, energy and planning that goes into maintaining the "simple" life is mind blowing. There is nothing simple about it but it looks incredibly rewarding.
M Ge we named it so for the Simple Living mindset we adopted prior to moving, you are correct most our life requires hard work and planning but every day is a new experience that we will learn from 😃
Simple Living Alaska yes when you love working for yourself living is simple!! Too bad more people didn't think like this whole community! Love you guys!
Kay we Live in Australia and our days are getting so darn hot I cannot stand it lol. I hate the summer weather here as it gets to over 43 degrees Celsius and hotter some days. I asked hubby if we could move to Alaska and he just stared at me lol he hates the cold weather.
It’s 32° Fahrenheit in Denver and I’m sitting outside, on my patio , in sweats. Lol. From a life long Angeleno, it’s amazing how quickly you acclimate. Lol
I am in Southeast Texas, not far from Houston & Galveston. We are having typical Texas fall weather. Low maybe 52 at night & high might hit 80 during the day. Fleece & quilts at night, & flip flops & shorts during the day once it warms up some. I call it yo-yo weather. It's beautiful!
Great vid! Really enjoyed seeing your daily routine. Your comment about the sparkle in the snow brought back a wonderful memory for me. I was 12 (50 years ago!), went to midnight mass on Christmas Eve and it snowed while mass was going on. Dry powdery stuff. I walked home and it was like walking through a sparkling wonderland. The streetlights made it all just glimmer. I remember it took me along time to get home - I was so awed and felt like I was walking through a magic land. I wish you both magic during this holiday season. Thank you for sharing your life with us. It's so inspiring...
I don’t miss the sound of the dry crunchy snow. I lived in the sub Arctic for 10 years and that was enough. Vancouver BC now. Warmest part of Canada. 😍
I was thrilled to see I caught this video a minute after it was posted. It may seem weird to watch someone else's daily routine, but at the moment this is the closest the sensible ones among us can get to going and visiting someone else's home. Thank you for sharing! Also, your floor still looks fantastic, roughly one year later!
Guys I've watched this video probably over 30 times. Yes I said 30... It's the simplicity that I love and admire. It gives me a sense of calm and reminds me of a simpler time in our society!!!!! It's just relaxing watching you two have fun and truly enjoy each other!!!!!
This gal really knows her stuff. She should start a little store or something for her community cause everyone wants to be doing what she does. These are such informative videos thank you
I sure have enjoyed the look into your lifestyle. You two are such a team! Your knowledge astounds me. I loved seeing your morning snuggles, smiles and laughter today. You two remind me of my son and daughter-in-law. I know your parents must be so proud! When you headed out to the chickens, a question that comes to my mind often once again did. Have you had any experiences with bear encounters? Down “here” when there is mention of Alaska, bear is one of the first things to cross our minds. Keep being awesome and stay safe!
My dream was to be self sufficient living in Alaska. I love nature, mountains and snow. Never found anyone who felt the same lol. So good to see u two making it there. The world is too materialistic. Need to get back to the basics in nature with someone u love and be happy.
This one has it all folks! Dogs, cozy fires, cooking, chores, chicken cams, etc. And I am HERE for it! I absolutely love these long format, casual, slice of life styled videos. When I saw that you'd posted a video, I literally told my husband, "Can you grab me a beer and some pretzels?" and he did it! Then saw it was you guys and sat with me to watch! Also, I just love how playful and loving you two are! A real-life Princess Arielle and Prince Eric!! :)
So quiet! I have 6 kids and the noise level can sometimes be overwhelming. It's nice to turn this on and live vicariously through for a little bit! Lol
I have chores outside and I was thinking it was too cold to go and do them. It is 36 F here and no snow, I think I will stop whining about the cold now. Thanks for sharing your lives, it is always a delight to see what you are accomplishing.
Wow! I thought this may be kind of boring but it was fantastic! You know how I know it was fantastic? Because at the end, I felt good and happy 😊 We need a million videos like this one 🥰 Thank you 🙏🏼 You guys are the salt of the earth 🌎 🏆
Here I am, sweating over in 40° Celsius heat in tropical Indonesia. Just found your chanel and loving your videos thus far. It's so relaxing and interesting, watching how you both life your lives so differently yet enchantingly.
FYI: when I want to make "brownies in a cup", I also mix up several batches of the dry ingredients and store them in zip lock bags for spur of the moment craving for something chocolate.
I used to heat with a wood stove and a fireplace. I always banked the fires at bedtime (covered with ashes) and had a warm stove and coals to start with the next morning.
This is one of the best videos you have done. It is so natural and shows winter in your cabin in real life and not scripted. Nice to see folks living the dream. Going to attempt to make the rolls.
I grew up and live in South Dakota and love our wood stove, but I have to say I appreciate the ash bin with MY stove, just pull out bin and empty, no scooping. Have been glad for it when power goes out.
I grew up in the mountains in Colorado and you guys crunching around on the really cold snow brings back a lot of fond memories. I live in West Texas and snow really isn't a thing. Fun video. :-)
Their life so beautiful than many couple. Her husband know his duty and he always helps his wife. There are so much work in their everyday life but both have no complain.
Still living vicariously through you guys, still recovering from a shattered femur I have a very similar life here in New Hampshire, wood stove, snow, dogs and plows now if my porch is icy I can't even go outside because the crutches are so damned slippery! Thank god for family and good friends but boy do I miss just walking to the river!!!
You 2 seem to be so very comfortable inside your own skin that it's inspiring. You both seem to love what you do and where you do it . I live in a beach front community in Florida that often feels like Paradise yet I find myself thinking your self-sufficient lifestyle is beautiful as well. Congrats on living life on your terms. I really enjoyed seeing you guys just hug and have coffee ! I lived off the grid 25 yrs in Tennessee ... Came back to the city but I miss the life every dang day !
The tasks that most of us will never have consider... “Honey, can you bring the garden hose in the house to thaw out.” 😳 🤣🤣🤣
Happens here all the time in Michigan when last person filling water tanks for cattle forgot to drain hose. Lol
Hahaha
Great song eh!
Thank you for sharing a day in your life . I live the UK . I don't think I could live daily like you as I love my central heating and dishwasher. Just I'd love a week with you !
My favorite channel! I love watching you two interact with each other. 🥰 Thank you for sharing your life perspective with us!
Bo and bandit…the cutest dogs ever. Bo’s attempt at sitting for food…aww
Looks like arthritis. Seems like a sweetheart
Don't know if its Beau or Bow or Bowe but almost cried at how hard he was trying to please his Daddy. What a beautiful dog.
Bo and Bandit are the dogs names
Yes i would have just given to him after trying even though wasn't perfect!!
The floor is prolly cold on his butt! 🤣 my dog won't sit all the way either if the floor is cold!
You both have really good cooking skills all your food looks amazing 😻 I love watching you
0 degrees they walk out in fleece, meanwhile inside my house is 70 and I’m snuggled in fleece with my dog lap blanket. I am not made for Alaska.
Kay we Live in Australia and our days are getting so darn hot I cannot stand it lol. I hate the summer weather here as it gets to over 43 degrees Celsius and hotter some days. I asked hubby if we could move to Alaska and he just stared at me lol he hates the cold weather.
I was out today in minus 6 with a thin zip up hoodie. I'm Canadian 😀
@@bohemiangypsy99 You'd never survive Alaska straight from Australia you'd both turn into ice pops😜
Love you guys. ❤️
The walk with the dogs and playing fetch looked so fun.
Great job
Great job
There should have been a big celebration when you got that gas tank on the chain saw. That was incredible to watch.
These are such informative videos thank you
Awesome video...... Stay warm!
You had 3 delicious meals and even great looking cookies y’all ROCK! Love y’all!
Because at the end, I felt good and happy 😊
We need a million videos like this one 🥰
Thank you 🙏🏼
You guys are the salt of the earth 🌎 🏆
It's nice, that you show every aspect of the daily chores when living in a cold climate. Lots of prep work. Stay warm and enjoy nature.
Here I am, sweating over in 40° Celsius heat in tropical Indonesia. Just found your chanel and loving your videos thus far. It's so relaxing and interesting, watching how you both life your lives so differently yet enchantingly.
FYI: when I want to make "brownies in a cup", I also mix up several batches of the dry ingredients and store them in zip lock bags for spur of the
moment craving for something chocolate.
what??? that's amazing!
Nothing like a cozy fire and your babies!🔥💖🐾🐾☕️
You two are very good cooks. You may be living a simple life but, you are eating gourmet food everyday. You can’t put a price on that!😀
I really wish you could do more of these . I love how simple they are
I used to heat with a wood stove and a fireplace.
Your place looks so cozy. Morning hugs and snuggles are even better!
Congrats! 250K subs! Yahoo!
Fun video. :-)
You can tell by the snow squeak that it is around 0F. Twenty below has a higher pitch, and -40 sounds like walking on styrofoam.
I love how a dust bath to a chicken is like going to the local pool or beach.
Look at you two cuddlebugs!
I would have chimed in “Get a Room” if I’d been there! Hey they are cutie patooties.
@@sharonbeauford7398 That is so rare for those two, but so welcome.
@@sharonbeauford7398 ha...I was thinking exactly that myself.....🤣🤣 before I went awwwwww
Sandra Westley it’s warmer together than apart, lol
Most don't.
Calendar is out, ready for cook book! 😎
He sure is real good cook isn’t he ?
I could tell how cold it was even before you put the temp by how the snow was crunching under your boots.
I was going to say the same thing
What's snow? lol ..Most we get is enough to turn the ground white for half a day then turn to dirty wet slush
I like the fact that you guys don't act in front of the camera. I guess it's because you have no time for drama. Good job 💐
Who hell thumbs down these vids ??
Love watching you guys living your day to day lives off grid , it’s so relaxing and enjoyable
G’day from Melbourne Australia
Some people find this kind of boring, some are looking for more of a "how to" video and others are just jealous! LOL!
I admire the way you take care of each other ..thanks for sharing your beautiful lives with us
Looks refreshing and must be so peaceful not having to worry about nosy neighbors only neighbors you have to worry about is the friendly moose and elk lol
Food delivery to your door!!
Walking out your front door and seeing a moose is anything but “friendly” lol
@@gregorykons7823 Definitely .. if you walk out and see one, it's best to walk right back inside LOL
hi I stumbled on to your channel because I love to watch how ppl live a simple life that requires work in order to survive. I am very pleased that I did. i really enjoy watching yall work together to accomplish a task that needs to be done. also I enjoy the love yall have for each other. yours dogs are awsome and i love that you have a cat as well. I also watch a channel called The Tent. keep your channel just the way it is , its very soothing to watch.
I've lived in Alaska my whole life and I would have to say for only being here a couple of years you guys are the most Alaskan people I know. Love it, thanks for sharing.
In many places locals are very slow to accept new people, but every comment from Alaskans is so nice. Are you unusually nice people?
@@thatsalt1560 There’s plenty of unsavory people here, but there’s still a majority of hard working people. I tend to think that just breeds nicer and more helpful people in general.
