I get both sides to the argument but these football players even though they work hard and make sacrifices are also given much more assistance in life then most people. Their club looks after them so much including with life after football in many cases but at some point the players need to take responsibility for their actions and pay the same price as everyday people when they do something wrong. Personally I don’t feel too much sympathy for him nor do I feel the AFL needs to be careful with him, he should be hit hard by the AFL. He is looked up to by many young kids, he has sponsors and a football club he represents also and in the real world if you are employed by a high profile company and do something like this it more than likely ends in termination, he will cop a couple of weeks, a small fine when you look at his salary and maybe some community service, all of this is weak punishment

A lot of the older blokes like to think otherwise but the sad truth is most players use illicit substances during their off peak. A close acquaintance of mine worked as a bartender, and after the Brownlow event, at the after party, more than a dozen players (captains inclusive), corporates and their Mrs were racking lines in the bathrooms. Nothing new.. The staff had a blind eye policy. People are too sheltered and don't want to believe it, its normal. AFL is probably fully aware, hence why the 3 strike rule is probably kept silent.

So the reason is mental health for why he took it after the gf loss which was September 25th, he goes on leave during preseason for mental health for a week around December 15th and comes back to training before the Christmas break. The only thing is, none of the media have brang up his statement from Feb 2021 about his mental health issues. The question then should be asked if he's blamed mental health issues for the leaks, how longs he been doing it for if he's had mental health issues since February 2021 and most probably even before that? Then the next question is if its mental health its most likely been going on for alot longer than just after the GF considering after the gf wasn't the first time he's mentioned his mental health issues to the media and the next question would be how'd you cheat the drug tests like Ben Cousins. If he wants to use mental health for drug issues because of a gf loss yet before that mentioned he can't handle the attention he's gotten in life since starting his career which is what Feb 2021 statement is about, the AFL needs to suspend him indefinitely on mental health plan and he can return once he gets the all clear from the psychologist then also make him sign a contract that states they can drug test him at anytime over a 3 year period. If they give him 2 weeks and let him play in 3 are they really looking out for his mental health issues, hes gonna cop it from every opposition supporter, its been leaked hes gotta deal with that, he isn't gonna be mentally fit to play in 3 weeks? If he does play then is mental health just a reason to get out of trouble. That's the way they need to deal with this for the simple fact he mentioned mental health and he's had a long period of time with those mental issues

  • @garynewton1263
    @garynewton1263 2 года назад

Why are these personal issues happening in this era and not 30 years ago?
Could it be that the game is played way too fast?
Could it be the amount of money these players are earning?
Could it be the enormous pressure put on them to perform when the game itself is not conducive to good football being played because of the stupid confusing game styles?
Why is it that changes aren't being made to bring the game back to where it was 20 years ago.
    Slow the game down.
Reduce the number of Interchanges down to around 25 per match.
Force forwards and defenders to stay within their 50 metre arc.
Let the players have control of their diets and whether they drink after games.
Don't allow the team that won the previous flag to recruit elite players.
If your goung to have player drafts then don't allow player trades from club to club.
You will never get a fair competition if you allow the team who won the flag to gain elite players from lower placed clubs.

Its only because he got caught. If you work for a company where you're in the spotlight and what you do publicly, effects said company, there are going to be consequences for certain actions. If you were a lawyer for high end clients and had viral photos of yourself appear online you would most likely get fired... At least the AFL doesn't generally do that.

Actually yes, many industries now have random drugs tests, and people can lose their jobs for taking illegal drugs.

Well how about if you're going to get stuck into a bag, don't film yourself doing it....

He knew exactly what he was doing. Tired of these highly paid players blaming mental health for needing time or this type of issue. There are people with real issues and these stars make it look like a joke. I'm sure it's not the first gf ya lost. He knew the cameras were there, probably had someone filming it on his own phone. U actually think he's that naive. He is a social media super star. How'd modra n west coast get caught with no camera.

Normal people have to go to court when they get done with dope. The mental illness excuse is a joke

@@jakethecutsnake2360 Okay, put a baggie of coke in your pocket and get yourself pulled over by the cops. When they pat you down and find it, just tell them you're suffering mental health. Let's see if that gets you out of being thrown into a divvy van, booked and put in a cell with a criminal record. Fool.

Get a grip. If any of our workplaces saw this we'd all be reprimanded, and if the cops catch us with it, are they saying we're just "' 'avin a life"? nah. Put a sock in it. We'd lose our jobs or go to jail. Enough of the double standards, and also the projection (just because you think being a junkie means having a life doesn't mean that's the norm for everyone else who actually has their life in order)

Poor extremely well paid professional Australian footballer. I couldn't handle losing a grand final so I went off the rails because I wasn't mature enough to handle it.
And if it is an illicit substance, let's hope the police get involved, and charge him. But they won't, because footballers in Victoria are treated like gods, when so many of them are just morons. Like Smith.
