    Great idea. Where I am we don't get winter ice like you do, but heavy frosts. This should work on heavy frosts I think. Thanks for sharing.
    All the best.

    That is a great tip and I have to try it and save money by not buying the expensive ice removal solutions sold in auto parts stores. I thank you for sharing this tip with us all and hope it isn't too cold there in Alaska.

    Moving from Duluth to Santa Fe worked wonders for deicing my windows.

    Hi, Thanks for sharing this with us. I keep a stock of cans of de-icer that I purchased at Walmart, but you can't keep them in your car. This is great, I will pick up a number of bottles of the 50% alcohol on my next trip to DT. Sometimes spray bottle's tops will screw on other bottles I will see if a spray top will fit on one of the bottles I buy.

      Nice tip if your sprayer fits another bottle. I also reuse empty bottles, and label them.

    Has any tried adding 1/3rd water to this mix, it still works. I’ve just noticed this is Alaska so I may be wrong.

    i have never seen 50% alcholol.. only 70% & 90%.. can you use these or just add a little water to it ?? doesnt the water content freeze ?? great tip !! thanks !! 💕

    • @AlaskaGranny
      @AlaskaGranny  4 года назад +2

      You can use any alcohol, it won't freeze. I prefer a mixture of 50 %. I would add 1/2 c water to a cup of 70, 3/4 cup water to a cup of 90.

    Thanks...I think... Does the alcohol in the spray solution damage the paint and/or the rubber windshield wipers? Don't want to use it if it does...paint, windshield wipers and rubber windshield gaskets on cars these days cost WAAAAY more than I want to spend to replace due to a inexpensive windshield de icer that damages them!

    You're leaving out alot of pertinent info. Like what's is the temperature? What is the temperature of your deicing fluid? Why not just use readily available windshield washer fluid warmed up to at least room temp? Don't see the advantage in this.
