My BRZ has a catted UEL header, a cat-back, and an OFT tune. It sounds great, has no 'torque dip', and it's drivability is greatly improved. I estimate the power gain is about 15 to 20 hp and the torque curve is fattened significantly from idle to redline. I know its not much gain but it is much more entertaining that the "Nothi' Happ'nin" until the needle gets to 5K rpm the car came with. AND my mods are not going to break the con rods or overload the drive train.

Actually makes commuting fun, even in traffic. Still miss the car after many years, can't fault it, pretty much ideal sports car that you can daily with pleasure

Why not? I daily drive my supercharged BRZ, commuting 80 miles a day in it. The Harrop installation is very well engineered and nothing has gone wrong in some 60k miles since I supercharged it. The secret is to follow the service intervals and use the best oil - Millers Nanotech. Don't skimp on any work required and the BRZ will reward with a fun drive and better reliability than I ever had from four BMWs.
After putting over 20k in mods on my car I can safely say that I would never do it again and I would not daily it. I freak out about accidents because my insurance doesn't cover mods and you kinda also have it in the back of your mind that something is going to blow or break and you'll have to spend a lot of money or do a lot of work to get it back up and running. Not really worth it if you are not making a lot of money or have a 2nd vehicle to daily.
Ya I feel you. Something you put a lot of time and money into isn’t really the best thing to daily. Just a big expense and risk. And one thing could ruin it all. But at the same time if it’s something you love maybe some people can justify it.

I plan to get a 2017 or so 86 but i am curious on what i can do without having to modifiy much else unless absolutely necessary i like the idea of supercharger currently found a kit for 4k which is a lot to me but saving wouldnt be hard another thing is header and exhaust as ik different types will give a few more horses but the concern there is how will it affect the computer with emmisions etc or is there certain ways around that?

That’s exactly how I had mine before I was boosted. It was still a blast to drive! Enjoy it!

With emissions you can stay catted but lose a few HP. Depends where you live and emissions. But with a tune everything is sorted out with the extra hp

Hey brother! You should be able to grab some springs from turbosmart! 8 psi is a safe bet. Should be making around 280 I’d think on 93.

Gets like 23ish mpg depends how I’m driving and if I’m in boost a lot.
Sometimes can see as low as like 16-18
