Ever since he went into the wall in 2015 I have been amazed by his grit and determination. Popping up on MCM was just a cherry on top. Effortless lap Chaz, well deserved man.
They are just to stable of cars where these you can visually tell how much the are on edge the entire time. Gen 4 cup cars were so wild to watch in qualifying because of how much they moved and slide around. Plus one wrong move on those cars and you would just lose it
@@IronHorsekid Word is the Gen7 cars are slower but more of a handful to drive. We hope that's the case, we don't want to see what went on with the Gen6. More short tracks and road courses will be something to see. I dont have lots of hope on the mile and a halfs, but the short tracks and road courses will be interesting I think. Won't know squat until February.
@@zmotorsport2815 Yes and No, Daytona 500 specifically, really (historically speaking, they're redoing qualifying procedures for 2022) Historically, Lone Qualifying would be used to decide the front two starting spots ONLY; The remaining 38 spots would be used to start The Duels. Inside line (Odd positions) would grid up the First Duel, and the outside line (Even positions) would seed the the 2nd duel. The finishing order of each duel would dictate the new order for each lane (even or odd positions) in the Daytona 500. Even if the two pole-sitters crashed out of their respective duel race, they would still retain their timed-in starting positions on the front row. That probably won't change but for other tracks they will start utilizing heat races. I don't have specifics on that yet, though.
yeah well 2022 is the last year where it is australian cars actually racing, next year its camaros and mustangs and I think the sport has lost most of its following bc of the no falcon vs commodore. that whas what the sport was built on and now its just a regular old gt style racing series

1:33 looks like the corner DJ went off, it appears the same thing almost happened here except this guy 4 wheel drifted and ended up an inch or two away from the wall and from memory DJ corrected from oversteer into the wall
From the the cutting all the way to forest elbow was the highlight of the lap for me - if there was any kind of trim or correction of his racing line through those parts I failed to see it because that looked absolutely flawless

Great lap but I think Murphy's lap was more impressive considering how long it took to break it and how far ahead of the next competitor he was in a car that was technically inferior

Always when they can hold their speed and momentum through the corners. Engine sounds crisp. Be good if they could have a qualifying motor like in F1 of the past.

To beat the second place car by over a second takes a huge effort and that's why its called "the lap of the gods" Scotty's beaten time will just be forgotten about.

Amazing lap! When the kiwi went fastest a couple of years ago he got a standing ovation when returning to the pits and that guy did it with an illegal engine. Where is chaz's standing ovation for a truly epic lap that is faster than the cheaters lap and everyone else's?

Supercars also has group qualifying most of the time, this is only for the enduros...
and NASCAR has different quali for Daytona for example I think

That's because a race setup and a qualifying setup are 2 completely different things
