Last week Pelosi stood her ground on the southern border wall as did Trump. This week Pelosi is standing her on the SOTU, Trump not so much. I’m so happy to see someone especially a woman stand up to Trump and put him in timeout. ~ every contract worker
~ every restaurant owner/worker, dogwalker, daycare owner/worker, house cleaner, dry cleaner, hairdresser, movie theater owner, deli, food store, etc (losing business bc the gov workers are home or can't afford them)
~ every air traveller (longer wait times at the airport)
~ every person who deals with the closed agencies (and can't get approval, permits, food stamps, rent help, etc)
~ every man, woman and child connected with all the people above (and are affected too)
~ and anyone else you can think of ...
send in one (signed) postcard per person affected (a TSA furloughed married father of 6, whom I met yesterday, would send in 8 postcards). Send those cards this weekend to Trump/McConnell @ 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Keep it short - just say "open the government NOW" & put your name & city

They will never make it. The White House Mail does not get delivered to even DC. It gets read and sorted out of state and simply end up in file 13. The mail is electronically reproduced even now. So something like "open the government" could be filtered out before anyone sees it.

sent4dc actually, the Congress should have a special highlighting the impacts of the govt shutdown on the workers/country. They could have celebrity acts and take donations. I bet huge celebrities would jump in that and no one would watch Trump.
Someone, I think Nicolle Wallace, had floated the idea that government workers should be the ones to deliver the official response to the State of the Union. I think Pelosi could go a step further: invite federal workers to the House on the date when the address is supposed to take place and let them have the floor. Let them tell us about the real state of the union, not Trump's fantasy "winning!" version.

5:42 U.S. Constitution. Article II, Section 3 stipulates: The president “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.”
Take note of the words here. "FROM TIME TO TIME GIVE TO CONGRESS Information of the State of the Union."
It does not specify when, how often, or that it has to be given to the people directly.
Also, it does not say from where it should be given. The house Speaker has stated that Trump can give it from an alternate venue.
No constitutional rights have been denied here and nothing at all is being done against the word of the constitution itself.
But the President shall means the President interprets when where and how. Theoretically the president could decide to give a minute by minute SOTU address in Congress is obligated to attend. So a 2 year in session Congress with no way to shut down the President. Talk about Filibuster.
We don't need Trump to give a State of the Union because by now most people know the majority of what he says will be "alternative facts". It is getting tiring.

These people are going to have late fees and penalties to pay, when they finally get their paychecks. They will owe people money. It's not as though everything goes back to normal when the government is restarted. No matter what, these people will be poorer for being late with payments.
That's assuming that they aren't forced to find other jobs. No matter who "wins," these people will lose.

Then there's another deal I was just made aware of yesterday. The SNAP/EBT {food stamps} will not EXIST in March of 2019! In fact, they sent out notices that the February 2019 Benefits had been deposited on Jan. 20 so that seemed like a Harbinger of Badness right there!
And this area I don't fully understand. Prior to pResident tRump's stated "Proud Shutdown" {circa 12/11/18} they DID fund the Dept. of Agriculture, from where the food stamp benefits come. Hang on tight everyone!
My wonderful dad, a born again Christian, retired, and who can't use the internet to save himself, nor understand even how to watch tv on the internet, even thinks Trump is being a big 'baby' about the wall. I love my dad.

That is not going to happen 😂 Border security is going to be built with or without the governments approval. No country has open boarders and that is unsustainable not to mention a threat to national security. So get as excited as you like but eventually it’s going to be addressed. We build the wall raised 20 mil and the go fund me for federal employees who are crying on national TV because they can’t do their Target runs hasn’t even reached 1 mil.
