94Ah BMW i3 Charging, Range on a Charge and App Info

- With 98 miles completed on electric power alone, it's time to plug the i3 in and 'fill it up' with some more electric. At present we are going to see if we can get by with the supplied three pin adapter, but may go for a faster charger if we need to. There's also info on this video about my girlfriends fluid black i3 (with a quick tour of the exterior), and also an overview of the BMW remote app too. Hope it's informative, and questions let me know!

I'm going to get the i3 from my local dealership this weekend for a family car test.. looking fwd to it. It's a fund thing but I also want to see how my wife and kid will react to having this car compared to the 5-series we are using as a family car now.

Yes, get a fast charger :-) you can get them for only £150 installed.

Hi there, needing some answers on the charging, i can see a number of people have commented on the not so common ccs DC charging and the station availability on the uk, i am thinking of getting an i3 and wondered about motorways and the availability of the DC and 30 minute charge can you help

Hi Daniel, Did your i3 come with just the 3 pin plug charge lead or did it come with a Type 2 (male to female) charge lead as well? Great videos, very informative. I'm looking forward to taking delivery of my new 94Ah i3 sometime before the end of September. Cheers, Rob
Hi Robert, our cars came with just the 3 pin plug which we are managing to live with quite easily for now. We did also purchase 2x type 2 10m cables, and will have the 32amp sockets fitted for home fast charging, and will do a video about that install too.
Thanks Daniel. I've already had a home charge station fitted by chargedev.co.uk. They sorted the £500 OLEV grant for me and fitted a Rolec Wallpod (32amp / 7kw) The deal also included 10% discount on items in their shop and one year free membership to CYC (Charge your car) which is worth £20. There are quite a few CYC charge points in the south east and I will be able to get a free charge while shopping in my home town of Maidstone. Bonus! Now I know for sure that BMW don't provide a Mennekes type 2 cable with the vehicle, I'll use my 10% discount on a lead. I'll look forward to seeing more of your videos.

dan how do you find the headlights? did you keep with the stock or did you upgrade to full led if so what are your views on them or is it better to get an aftermarket kit
+ram64man they are awesome led headlights, very bright.... The headlights were part of the 'sport' package, so a bundled in cost.

How have you found the car Since you have had it? I'm considering changing my 116 for an i3 rex. Our second car is a leaf so already comfortable with ev's. Not sure if I go for that or wait for the kona or 60kwh leaf

Great videos - looking forward to more - im just deciding on whether to get one - i have a mix road daily commute of 75 miles in total. Also whether fluid black or protonic blue, and whether that range is reliable esp in winter?
+khalil Bukhari Protonic blue, is definitely the nicest colour combination in my opinion. I'm working on another video which I should publish next week which shows the real range of the battery- which my car is currently estimating 124 mile range vs the BMW quoted 114 mile range, so I can't see winter mileage being too much of a concern, especially if you pre-condition the car before you leave.
Hi Daniel. I’m thinking of buying a used 94amp BMW i3 Rex - my parking needs about 7m wire to get to the car from outside wall ( once I get 7amp charger installed). How long is the original cable ( do they come with different lengths). Thanks.
They come with the original 3 pin charge lead so you can plug into a household socket.
