Preparing the Devil Forge Refractory Wool with Rigidizer
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 ноя 2024
- Today I'm going to prepare my Devil Forge refractory wool with the rigidizer it comes with. This is necessary to extend the life and efficiency of your furnace. It is a simple, yet necessary process. The instructions say it takes 24 hours to dry, but mine took almost 48 hours because of the humidity in my state. Yours may vary as well, use your best judgement.

Thats really cool you are the first video i have seen anyone cure there smelter. I did mine but i built my own and did the same. Thank you for putting out these videos.
Thanks for watching! I like to do the videos that I wish I would've been able to watch!
Soooo , your gonna leave the fire hole and the lid hole unsealed? I just purchased the 6kg can with all the crap needed to do all this , any way I think I’ll seal every part that’s white just in case with 2 coats since I have extra.. thanks for this upload dude
thank you for sharing brother! can't wait to see your first melt and pour!
Fire & plastic face shields go so well together, right? What could possibly go wrong?
Thanks for the vid man gave me confidence
I love watching the process of getting that Devil Forge ready.
Thanks for watching Gina!!
@@JWsCoinsandHobbies I like watching the process. I'll never do any forging, but I'll watch.
Is there a reason you didn't coat the vent?
Very cool. Excited for the first melt and pour.
Me too!! Keep an eye out!
Looking forward to the first pour! Thanks for the informational video JW!
Me too! Thanks for watching TJ!
👍Hey JW. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see your first melt/pour video. 🙂
Thanks for watching!! I can't wait either!
I’m about to do that to mine I had to go watch it to see how u did it
I used a paint can mixer in a power drill to get it mixed in about one minute instead of 15 lol
Awesome man you have super stirring and apply speed powers! Wow! Lol. Thank you for the information! I would love to get into pouring metals. That is really cool set up JW! Thank you for sharing!
Those super speedy mixing powers come in handy!! Thanks for watching Jeff!
Lol the MRE spoon
Can’t wait to get mine
For sure!! They're buckets of fun!
JW's Coins and Hobbies Xmas can’t come any sooner
Why isn't this process done by the factory?
I think because it is kind of brittle when applyed. So if it is ship with the coating on, it might crumble
Iv just brought the 10Kg one and my fire brick is too big to fit inside? Is it to put my crucible on when I pull it out ? I will look at the instructions when I get back home lol but iv had to come to me mums so watching vids hear
Looking forward to the next few videos👍
Make sure you check all your fittings with soapy water before you lite your forge to make sure there are no leaks. If there is a leak you will see bubbles
Already did! Thanks! I did the leakdown test(from working on cars), and the soap and water test
JW's Coins and Hobbies I have a coin question I hope you can answer. I got a 1999 Delaware state quarter in my change today, not magnetic. Any ideas about what metals were used
Ok I have to ask this question is this refractory cement or rigidizor? I thought rigidizor was a liquid that you sprayed on before the cement
Okay...now I want to see something melt!!!
Do you have to use the refracting product on the insulation?
How exciting I have just started to build my own out of a 8.5 kg gas bottle and l can’t weigh to start melting 🤪😂👍
I will make a homemade one day when I get more versed in it all. That will be an adventure all by itself!
Thanks but how doing for the hole where is the burner ?
What does this do? I just got a furnace and there is nothing like in the box or directions.
How many burns do you get out of a full tank?
Can you soak the ceramic blanket in the rigidizer before you put it in the can? Then after words put it in the can and fire it?
Environmental awareness, depending on what you are melting an enclosed area with a big ass carbon filter and fans would eliminate any toxic fumes.
Is it a confusing set up? How much of it was put together when you got it? How much does propane cost per fire?
I hope you know, if I am stream boss, that is the hat!🤣😂
Hahaha!! Let me go edit the stream boss real quick :)
I know an MRE spoon when I see one.
Got that right!!
What do the instructions say for curing it? I lost my sheet that came with it after I applied the refractory coating :(
I have my finger hovering over the 'Buy' button.
I'm wondering if the FB2M is worth the extra $100 considering it has more refractory over the wool.
Longer 'to heat' times or maybe cracked refractory on arrival are weighing on my choice.
Thoughts?
Question, did you have to pay customs fees when you bought this? Thanks man.
I did not
Ah yes, the old cottage cheese container! Don't leave home without it.
He’s ready!!!!
Yessss!!!! I can't wait!!
You didn't coat the knock hole.
You know that kaowool is super toxic?
does you scale convert volume to mass ?
That looks like an MRE spoon.
What size is that forge? I bought the FM2MB and they shipped it to Okinawa in 5 days. I have only used an electric forge in the past.
This one is the 4kg forge, the smallest upright one I believe
3 grams too much powder, lol, I like the OG22 on the helmet.
I knew someone would say it because I'm so strict on things like that! Nailed it!
That looks like fun! 🔥 🔥
It really is! I find fun in tedious things with multiple steps.
Do you know we’re I can get some rigidizer it didn’t ship with my forge and I need it
Here you go!! This bottle should be enough for one really heavy coat, or one coat with enough to patch it later amzn.to/3na8Ee7
Alternately, I would email them first to say that it was not included in your package, and they will send it to you. Thank you for watching!!
@@JWsCoinsandHobbies thank you
So that hole in the lid doesn't have to have the rigidizer on it? Obviously not, since it didn't catch fire or anything. D'oh! :) Cool to watch you prep it for use, that's something that really is helpful!
The wool wouldn't burn anyway really, this helps it just to extend the life and efficiency of it. Thanks for watching Sparkle Flair!
I think you should've used the Ridgidizer on the lid's throat, cause that's where all of the Koawool fibers will now be released into the atmosphere. Just saying...
Stay safe.
210 ml is not 210 grams right?
uh... Im just asking for a friend but is not a ml of water a volume measurement instead of weight?
1 ml of water is one gram
Definitely looks like a Wendy's Frosty, was thinking of dipping my fries right in until you said you don't recommend it! HA!
I'm glad I recommended against it!!
BOOOOOOOM THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!!
Let's go Mill!!! Melting will start soon!!
Very cool, brother!😉👊
Thanks bro!! Can't wait to get to *work*
Is devil forge noise loud?
It's not too loud really
@@JWsCoinsandHobbies i hope u can do some test, great vid btw
Funny how you measured out your water in grams instead of mL .
Hi
Very nice
Like #47! 💥 Lets GO! Keep Pushin!
Should have used a wisk
Actually, that said 210 ml - that's milliliters, not grams - fortunately the two are identical
Exactly.
Who's got the Smores 😁👊
Bring it on over!! We'll cook em!
i think youre supposed to soak the wool to full saturation. i see people only spraying one layer and others soaking...i was told any portion not dyed brown wont be rigidized. i imagine any unrigidized portions can easily crush into nano sized powder, and become airborne particles ?
I followed the instructions that came with it, but I do know that the wool on the inside isn't burning down any time soon. I've seen vids of people who didn't treat theirs and they're still doing ok
now i am watching mud dry...
